As per usual in any MCU fare, very well produced and well acted, but yet again undermined by a weak villain. For obvious reasons, the finality of this installment is not really fulfilled, and that is the bad thing about MCU flicks this days: they felt so episodic and I watched it on VOD without seeing in the cinemas. I didn't miss a beat. However, losing a beloved ensemble such as this will be a big blow to the MCU. Expand

All the emotional beats hit, the humour does not undercut any of these emotional scenes and generally gets a chuckle. the action was good and the supporting characters were interesting. adam warlock seems an afterthought, though still good/interesting. the rocket origin scenes make an entire good narrative within the main narrative but at times just appear with no connection or complimentary flow to the main narrative. the villain is also pretty well played by Chukwudi iwuji. highly recommend watching it! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros- The characters have character arcs that finish off their stories perfectly. For example,Peter Quill started off the 1st movie leaving earth, and returned home at the end of the trilogy. Rocket Raccoon started off being a surly,grumpy,mean-spirited and short-tempered raccoon who was insecure about his identity and had a very grey morality borderlining on black, but now has a much more stable moral compass and is now not insecure about his purpose in life, leading the guardians and being more compassionate and heroic as a bonus. Drax became a dad in the end after losing his family, Nebula helps the children who suffered like her in the end and Mantis learned to go out there and fnd out what she wants to do in life, being more independent. They also had a villain who was pure evil, High Evouloutionary, who got what he deserved. The music at the end is a reference to the song 'come and get your love' played at the beginning of the 1st movie,a really nice callback. The music for each scene fit nicely. Lylla,Teefs and Floor are wholesome and innocent characters who didn't deserve the horrible treatment they got.
Gamora, while violent and aggresive, still has a heart of gold. Adam Warlock also shows his softer side wgen it comes to his mother Ayesha and his pet Blurp. Cons-I have some problems with the emotional scenes, because everytine there is one,it makes me tear up,but it is ruined by sudden bursts of action. I know this is an action movie, but they don't let it play out long enough to take full effect. Take a look at Puss in boots:the last wish. They allow us to enjoy emotional moments for a while and take it slow, allowing the emotional effect desired to take effect. Another thing is Guardians of the galaxy vol 3's plot is very goal-focused. While it can work, some of the characters are out of focus and don't give enough spotlight to certain characters, like Kraglin or Nebula, allowing some arcs to feel too rushed.

It was a fun emotional rollercoaster filled with amazing music!

A lot of the movie had you on the edge of your seat fearing the fates of our beloved characters we’ve been watching over the span of multiple movies. The plot is your typical get the thing with a time limit, but it’s packed with so many characters milestones that help to close out the story of this crew.

There is 1 mid that should be watched and 1 post credit scene that isn’t really worth it staying in my opinion. It’s a simple google search and watch.

All in all the movie was an enjoyable ride with funny dialogue and character revelations!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

En términos de acción y efectos visuales, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 no decepciona.

A fun if unsurprising final outing for our faithful troupe. I had fun watching and frankly I'm glad its over now! The last few years of marvel have been challenging for all the wrong reasons. This was fresher than most of the other recent MCU productions but still felt like it was going through the motions delivering that cooker cutter MCU experience.

Two things stand out for me. This is Gunn's Suicide Squad (2021) approach applied to GOTG franchise. Every character has an arc of some kind--if rarely a consequential arc (this is not easy to do; Gunn deserves much credit for this). However as the many characters each pull in different directions, the emotional thread of saving the life of one main character is utterly lost, overwhelmed. Some reviewers were affected emotionally. For me, the "save X" plotline played more like the McGruffin in a Hitchkock film: everybody says they care about "X" yet the audience does not have to care about X; we only care how and if the characters survive pursuing "X." VFX are better and more engaging than in AntMan Qauntumania. If this is a box-office hit, I will chalk it up as a triumph of excessive spectacle-itis. Suicide Squad 2021 is the better more creative version of this. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bad opening but gets better from there.

Random bad guy (Adam Warlock) attacks Rocket just so he can have a character building sympathy arc, and the GOATG can go on a journey to save him.

The cameo of Howard the duck was great though.

It is a bit sad that it appears to be the end of this version of the Guardians, but the future Rocket-led Guardians & Gamora's Ravagers have a lot of potential.

Just there really doesn't seem to be a big threatening baddy after Thanos, and MCU is just going through the motions.

The story is maybe a mess, in the sens that it tries to close all the questions of the last movie. It's a bit overcrowded but it is strangely balanced. The flashback works very well here with the Rocket story. That focus on him, ties the rest in term of cohesion. I didn't like the lack of realism with the ending for Starlord, and the bad/sad after credits. The villain was convincing and solid. The FX are really good but those with Warlock in general felt, not that convincing. Great music. Great sounds. I give it 75%. Not the best for sure, but a good way to resolve everything. Vol 3 certainly opens the doors for individual spin offs, more then a straight follow up. Expand

And did it succeed? Well, I guess I could say that it did. Ironically, it was done by the man who went to fix the competitor's business.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is not the best post-Endgame MCU movie, for me that's Eternals, but in my opinion it becomes the third best trilogy in this franchise after Captain America and Avengers and incidentally gives a solid conclusion to these characters as we await what Marvel has planned for those returning in the future.

It's the same formula of course, but it's one that has worked for these characters.
James Gunn knew how to make the most of it, and who would have thought back in 2014 that he, along with Peyton Reed and Jon Watts, would be the only filmmakers to command a trilogy in the MCU from beginning to end.

That there are things I didn't like? Of course there are. Starting with a tedious villain. The High Evolutionary had to be a very different threat than the one seen in this story.
And the other is the biggest flaw, and that is the tremendous waste that was made of a character like Adam Warlock. Someone with the power to take on Thanos one on one, here he's just a pawn. That was terrible.

But there's no point in complaining over spilled milk. After all, it's an ending. A cycle that has come to an acceptable and appropriate conclusion.
Marvel doesn't lose the characters of course, but I doubt we'll see a volume 4 in a long time, if ever. And I say this even with what you see in the first post-credits scene.

Still, it was a good ride. Long live the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The whole movie is that way. It doesn't let up throughout its 2 and half hour runtime. A runtime that feels like at moments it's overstaying it's welcome in the final act, as it's one that has a lot of starting and stopping, moments that feel like finales but are not. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Decent movie not without it's flaws. Repeated fake out deaths were really annoying Adam Warlock's role in the movie felt clumsy and makes him feel a bit of an anti climax compared to his teasing from the end of the second one. High Evolutionary was a well acted easy to hate villain however think he was defeated too easily in the end. Loved seeing Cosmo been introduced would have like to seen her have more of an influence on the movie. Rocket's backstory and arc was excellent. Drax's arc was okay too thought Quill, Gamora and Nebula's arcs were underwhelming Craglin had a more compelling story arc than those three. Definitely better than a lot of the movies churned out in phase 4 if you liked the first 2 GotG movies I think you'll still enjoy this though it may not necessarily be your favourite. Expand

Like presenting it as acceptable to destroy an entire planet because it is not perfect? For Orcs like Putin perhaps. On one hand the movie is aimed at young children, on the other it is full of unnecessary shouting and sadism. Also the leading caracters who on one hand say to want to do the right thing, on the other answer the hospitality from a local family (with children) on a planet they visit with total disregard. They are welcomed in their house, receive drinks, borrow their car, run into their trashbins with the car, and leave them to die. While their spaceship is parked in front of the house... But the most annoying is the Endor sickness of wanting to introduce ‘cute’ creatures. A talking dog that still behaves like a dog? (either his brain is advanced, or not, decide!), a man with a duckface? Just nonsense. The gardians themselves are unlikely, but don’t cross certain limits. Yes, also in SF stupidity harms the experience. But better a rattling SF film, than a boring ordinary film. Visualy there is a lot to see. Stop trying to make a film for young children from unsuited material! Expand

After the long decline of Marvel movies, this movie was a welcome relief. The visuals were very good, especially in some scenes. Throughout the movie, we feel the movie's villain not as a threat, but as a high-ranking person obsessed with an idea. Throughout the movie, we do not learn why he is so obsessed with this idea. What I find missing from the movie is that they didn't make some bold decisions. Expand

Yes, it had elements of what made us all love the first two and had lots that it also lacked. Yes it had the same actors and director, but it was a completely different direction. Guardians Vol. 3 took a darker turn with it's themes, lingered on certain situations that made many uncomfortable to look or listen to and was kind of unsure what it wanted to do. Many would feel differently about this movie if it didn't have their favorite characters attached to it from two sequels that revolved around being a team without taking itself too seriously, but this one does. There are certain things that I pondered on with the movie that it took my attention away as I tried to figure out, "Why did(n't) they do that?" If I am going to commend this movie for is the conclusion. It was all wrapped up in a nice little bow to send off the Guardians and it's fans onto the next chapter of whatever is awaiting for them in the future. It's a great movie, but not the best of the three Guardians of the Galaxy. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A fun ride; but, when an entire planet of billions of innocent people (and one recurring antagonist) gets destroyed and nobody bats an eye, I realized that the soul of the first two Guardians movies was simply missing. It still had the brains (funny jokes, emotional moments), but the heart was sorta missing for me. Expand

Nothing touches the genius of the first movie. The second one was written by the Disney/Marvel market department, with Kurt Russell.

I was really looking forward to this one and it delivered a nice swan song, but was devoid of any truly original material. Some awesome scenes keep you tethered, but it’s an awfully long ride to take for those small moments that act as the overall payoff.

If anything, it was Gunn’s personal sendoff of the comic book property that made his career without any sequel strings attached. ‘Nuff said.

It was the first Marvel movie that added a sense of humor and some color and it was fun af. The music was also a huge draw as it was well-used in every instance. No fat on that movie at all, no down time. It was enjoyable for every second. Guardians 2 was not as good, but still maintained that energy we loved. Guardians 3 was...okay. Obviously the humor toned down a bit for me as Peter Quill was going through some **** And of course the whole Rocket backstory. Besides that, though, everything was a little off. The music selection was great, but it was all over the place and didn't really resonate with the story. It was just there "hey, member this song??" The villain was kinda goofy and I didn't get why he was doing what he was doing. The plot, along with the soundtrack, was just all over the place again. Still the same vibe, but somehow diluted. Overall, it was a rather disappointing Marvel movie and there hasn't been a really good one since Infinity War for me (Endgame didn't do it for me). Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was not a great Marvel movie. It was an OK Guardians movie. The Guardians close out the trilogy, and their best performances are still in other movies where they can play off other characters. This has one of the worst villains of any of the Marvel movies. His motivations are paper thin, and completely indefensible. Rocket isn't in most of the movie, and instead of his comic relief and snark, we get Adam Warlock. One of the greatest antiheroes of the comics, reduced to an idiot for comic relief. I am so let down by James Gunn here, his exit for the DCEU shows where his heart is. It's not the worst movie in the MCU, but I would say Age of Ultron was a far more enjoyable movie compared to this. Disney is really trying to find their footing with these almost-all-CGI movies. This one, like Ant-Man and the Quantumania before it, just feels at times like you are watching a high-end 3D cartoon. Especially at times where characters can just feel weightless, as their bodies ragdoll and contort. It's shiny, and colorful, but I still would not say this is good CGI; and that's a serious problem when that's 80+% of your movie. What would I change?
*This movie badly needed Thor in it
*Rockets origin story had no flow in the movie, you could have just shown it in one sequence and the story would have been more even
*Get rid of this villain, just completely, make Adam Warlock the bad guy here and give him a redemption arc. The scientist dude can just die when Rocket escapes, and be a much more minor character. I don't think the movie loses anything, it gains so much more.
*Do not make a cool character like Adam Warlock a bumbling idiot
*Cut at least 20 minutes off the runtime, I felt like we had 3 different celebrations at the end, and none of them were anything like the touching sendoff for Yandoo from Guardians Vol. 2
*It was unforgivable that Groot spoke. You just destroyed his entire character. There is no reason, explanation, or anything. Just needed a touching moment, so boom, Groot can talk now.

People are definitely going to mixed on this. It is a touching sendoff, Groot definitely has some moments here.

It seems to just keep signposting where the protagonists are going next but in obvious ways, no subtlety, no reason for the movie goer to use their brain and the laughs are infrequent. It was easy to watch, it didn't offend and occasionally there was a wry smile that crept onto my face. But it was too easy to watch there was no meat to get my teeth into, and not enough wry smiles or even laughs.

This is by far the best of the mcu at the moment and it really wasn't that good, it's still only average.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went last night to see it, and I liked how they told the story of Rocket and ended the Guardians of the Galaxy story arc, I very much disliked Gamora's role - she always felt out of place.

But the worst part is that we get the same stupid idea of a villain that has infinite time and resources and still gets his plan destroyed by a group of randoms. I mean they keep using these geniuses of villains in a really cringe way. Another bad part is that you could notice that some of environment designs were bad and the same of the acting of extras in the set.

First off, way back when this was first announced years ago, I couldn't help but roll my eyes, as I felt as though a third Guardians film was completely unnecessary. Everything was capped off and ended so perfectly for the Guardians with not just the second film, but also 'Infinty War' and 'Endgame' as well, so I couldn't help but feel like a third film would be overkill. Sure enough, my suspicions were confirmed with this two and a half hour mess of a film that felt more like three hours. I was checking my phone several times in the hopes it would end sooner rather than later. Production values were questionable and cringeworthy at best, with the most absurd and ridiculous-looking costumes, set pieces, etc. The worst of it, which is certain to give me (and I'm sure several others) nightmares for days, is a sequence midway through the film on an alternate earth that's inhabited by several anthropomorphic animals that speak some annoying gibberish alien language. It's incredibly off-putting and disturbing to say the least. Storywise, none of it ever feels all that justified. It's mostly forgettable, and the main antagonist is incredibly weak and poorly developed. He's one of those characters that's just evil for the hell of it, with no rhyme or reason whatsoever or any background motivation of any kind. Gamora's way too pissed off for her own good and simply just storms around taking prisoners the whole film, and her and virtually every other character in the film spends well over half of it shouting at each other irritably. Not to say that there aren't any heartwarming moments throughout some of it, but they're all completely overshadowed by the rest of the film and its loud shouting and obnoxiousness. Even this film's soundtrack was a letdown. While the previous two installments had pretty great throwback in retro music throughout, this one instead settles for mid90s punk rock for the most part, which did not match the tone of the previous two films well at all! It all sounded so out of place in a Guardians film and sounded more like something a whiny angsty teenager from that era would be listening to as opposed to the suave, classy, and charismatic '70s and '80s tunes that we all loved hearing in the previous two films that fits Starlord's personality so much better. As far as cast and performances go, the only true standout to me was Will Poulter as Adam Warlock. By the films end, despite its (very forced) attempt to tug at the heart strings as much as it possibly can, I still couldn't help but think to myself what an unnecessary film this was that absolutely did not need to be made at all! Overall, easily the worst Guardians film of them all, and one that jumbles itself all over the place with hideous costumes/set pieces, a pretty aimless story, and simultaneously the most annoying and nightmare inducing anthropomorphic animals one could possibly imagine (who would have ever thought something could be annoying and terrifying at the same time?) It only further adds insult to injury with the fact that they try to manipulate our emotions so forcibly at the end when it simply was not earned with this film. I wasn't buying it. Expand

This is a complete disappointment that does NOT wrap up the characters, just pays lip service towards doing so. It is by far the weakest of the three, being a mess compared to the first two, which had much tighter stories. The script itself is formulaic and simplistic to the detriment of all character growth. There is pretense to some of that at the end of the movie, but it is growth that already took place in previous movies. With a lot of childish elements and characterizations, a McGuffin chase, and too much focus on "Hey this is a cool concept, let's waste 20 minutes on it".

On a more functional level, Gunn's story telling has completely devolved as he has now cranked the plot armor to completely invulnerability when convenient, but will turn that right back off when the plot needs that to happen as well. There is absolutely no way to gauge what kind of danger anyone is in, so there are zero stakes. He films those scenes at a JJ Abram's break-neck pace hoping you cannot pay enough attention to notice that. The worst part is when Gunn proves to be an unreliable narrator and fakes a death, slowing down time, focusing on the wound playing emotional music. Only for it to all be just fine immediately afterwards. That sums up this movie. I had such high hopes, only to see them frittered away with emotional manipulation and proof that continuity is beyond Gunn. The retconning he does in this will be a high point of discussion in the next few weeks as people begin to realize how much this would have changed at least one character.

I just can't help it that certain movies that people love I can't get into and vice versa. I personally think this is James Gunn's most disjointed movie. It's weird on the 3rd and final film to throw Quill to the back burner to give Rocket center stage. I like both characters a lot but GotG3 feels like it should have been a Rocket spinoff movie after the GotG trilogy ended. A lot of the humor falls kind of flat for me and it results with the crew mostly yelling at each other for the entire movie. Is yelling funny now? On top of that there were zero surprises in the story and I think we all pretty much knew how it would play out. I secretly wished the group would all die in a blaze of glory like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid or something but what we got was very safe. But how about those trailers and commercials teasing big character deaths, eh?
One big bone I have to pick about the MCU in general is how they are picking weirder and weirder stories and topics for their films and the kinda bad color scheme and design choices they are using to stick as close to old dated comics as possible, like the Kirby color palette. I understand the theme of animal testing and Rocket's friends looking like they have been tortured. But Rocket is a raccoon with some scars and some implants. Did we need a walrus with wheels or a rabbit with robotic spider legs? Kind of too goofy and freakish at the same time.
All this being said, the movie was still touching and moving and I actually liked where the film left most of the main characters. I just wish we took a different route to get there.

Actors that are returning include: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Dave Bautista. Also joining the cast is Shawn Gun from the Suicide Squad, and Chukwudi Iwuji from Peacemaker, John Wick chapter 2, and designated Survivor. The Guardians return for their final solo mission. After Rocket gets shot, the other Guardians have to learn more about where he came from to try and save him. Will Rocket Survive? Gun integrates a little of everything: action, teamwork, humor, and heart. Between all the fights and the Guardians trying to escape from danger, there was action all throughout the film. In previous Guardians of the Galaxy films only certain people got to save the day. Here however they all got a moment to shine. Groot is older now and has earned the right to have guns in his branches which makes him look like a killing machine. Drax spoke to kids in their native language. Rocket stands up to the people who made him. Nebula, Drax, and Mantis return to rescue Star Lord and Groot from the high evolutionaries ship. Just like all the other Guardian film’s there is humor infused into the characters. Not as funny as the second one but it is dealing with more serious stakes. Rocket’s backstory is not one any animal should have to endure. At the heart of all three Guardian movies are themes of family and fitting in. All the Guardians are outcasts and don’t really have a family, until they all meet in the first film. They all have different strengths and with combining those strengths and working together they have become a family and can achieve whatever comes there way. If you liked the previous two Guardians of the Galaxy films you should go see how the story ends. It’s a good conclusion to the trilogy. Expand

This movieThe first Guardians movie is one of my favourite marvel movies of all time, great pacing , fun story, fantastic soundtrack, nice action scenes and even though they were just being introduced each character had a moment to shine. This movie has managed to take all those elements and somehow dilute then into something way less compelling. The pacing is pretty weird, the story is all over the place, albeit not as much as the soundtrack. Where the songs complemented and enhanced the scenes of the first movie in the third you can tell they’re there solely to try to reproduce “cool” moments with little to no success. In very random moments the music starts as the guardians walk in slowmo from here to there trying to look hella cool but it literally has no connection with the story and mood of the previous scene. The character development is also pretty underwhelming, Peter is barely a character, Draxx and Mantis have some fun back and forth but don’t go much further than that, Gamorra was insufferable , Adam Warlock was there. The difference is staggering, in the first movie for example, there’s a scene where Peter sees Rocket undress and notices his scars and implants, that one moment literally told us everything we needed to know without any words, in the third the same concept is explored in greater detail only to then have rocket not have any particularly relevant payoff… It’s so sad to see how mediocre these movies are becoming, there is a wealth of material to draw from but we end up getting these poorly written messes. Like how often can you see a character seemingly die, everyone screaming in panic and crying, only for that character to get up an walk it off in the next scene? Lazy writing Expand

Why? What is Sylvester Stallone doing here? Doesn't Marvel have any money to invest in a decent script rather than in actors that don't belong to their universe?

Yes, the scenario is deadly boring. It manages not to be predictable but only because it is totally crazy. Some scenes got me out of the movie just thanks to ugly and random events or characters. All the scenes on Counter-Earth are confusingly stupid. On the other hand it is an interesting way to explain Rocket's background journey (which is sorely missing to the other protagonists). Unfortunately this is poorly done. And here comes the major flaw of 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' : the pathos.

The story only shines by the numerous scenes of suffering or evoking intense emotions (the (near)death of a character, a disillusionment, a missed objective, etc.) that only ends up in a silly and terrible 'I love you guys'. Because this movie fails where it says something it could otherwise show or just poetically evoke.

The pace is frantic as the movie appear to be really loud, there is no place for silence but to yell even more at our faces. Between the sound effects, the music, the dialogues and the fights, it feels like we are babies to be entertained by a bunch of keys constantly waved before our eyes.
The humour is classic, sometimes quite subtle, often honestly gross or terribly childish.

Some characters are barely introduced, notably as Will Poulter who embodies Adam Warlock : an overpowered character who doesn't bring anything but some deus ex machina patterns. His characters clearly was underused in addition to that.

The post-credit scenes are ones of the most disappointing that I saw in the Marvel franchise.

Incredible playlist as always, not too mainstream thank god. Amazing scene paced by 'No Sleep Till Brooklyn' from the Beastie Boys (shoutout to this amazing band). On the other hands, fistfights never seemed that brutal to me. In such a way that it less feels addressed to children (as the previous Marvel movies also were). Overall, the fights seem to me to be more intense, but not always in a good way since the heroes show a fickle weakness to some moves while others do not.

The special effects are obviously magnificent (since they are the ones that swallowed all the money) even if some of the fight scenes kind of look messy.

In conclusion: you don't need 150 minutes to tell a story that dumb and that fits on half a page. Also, there is no need to fake people's deaths just to save a little time for a story that already lasts what seems like an (painful) eternity.

Now he is recycling all his ideas, reworking them, and trying to make them hit hard. Instead, the movie hits very soft and feels way too long. Cut out some of the melodrama, don't overstuff it with so many broad character motivations, and focus a bit more on developing the antagonist maybe. Basically, if this movie was tightened up A LOT, it would have been an 8/10. As it is, it feels like a jokey/emotional Marvel soap opera series, smashed and squeezed into an overflowing mess of a movie. Expand

No Heart, but Good Enough.

Just watch this Dumb, Not Star Wars Movie by James Gunn. We enjoyed the first installment because we had not connection to the characters, which gave him the edge in originality, but this third installment jumps from one plot point to another. Show don't tell is the best way the viewer can project their feelings into this story, but the story in this movie seems to rely on "Best Of" rather than challenge our characters and viewers with themes of evolving and growing up past your found family troupe that Gunn has enjoyed in many of his projects. I would suggest this to folks who want to watch a self contained space adventure with plenty of jokes, but don't expect to laugh out loud unless you have plenty of friends to go with you.

As a fan of the first two films, it's sad to see the "final" Guardians of the Galaxy film dragged down by a bloated runtime that simultaneously gives too little while trying to do too much.

While overlong for its story, not enough time is dedicated to flush out this movie's new characters (Rocket's cage pals, the Sovereign's golden boy, astronaut dog, etc.) and they appear at crucial moments in the film only to leave the audience with questions like, "What?! Why?" and "Who the heck was that?"

The whole film consists of moving to point A to point B as slowly as humanly possible. Padding is everywhere! The movie feels long and, without going into spoilers of course. The conclusions of many of these characters feel unearned. I came into this movie expecting characters to die, but instead. I felt GOTG3 would have benefited from doing so! Any character that gets killed off in this movie. No matter how dark the subject matter is. Just comes off as the director giving brownie points, if you know what I mean. Again, without going into spoils, but if you know. You know, and the film feels cheap because of it.

Other issues include the camera. It moves from shot to shot too fast during action sequences. I wanted to admire the fighting scenes, but I couldn't! It was difficult to pay attention to what was going on and because of that. It was very distracting. Maybe it was because of the lighting, or how it was shot, but for the life of me. I can't remember what action scene was my favorite in the movie because by the time it happens. It's already done and forgotten about. It's that terrible.

I could go on about how the piss and **** humor took me out of the film, or how the music placement felt wrong for certain scenes. However, I believe Gamora has been hurt the most by this film. I promise you by the end of it. She will go from your favorite character to your least favorite character in about three hours. Gunn made her so unlikeable that it was impossible for me to ever root for her. For perspective, there is a scene where Gamora is on the toilet. Expecting the audience to laugh. Yeah, no, that's not happening.

I'll just end this by saying Rocket was the best part of this movie...when he's actually in it. One out of every ten jokes seemed to land with me and the characters. Especially Peter and Nebula, really like to yell in every scene, and it's incredibly irritating. The villain does this too and it just drives me nuts. Parents. If you plan to take your kids to this movie, don't. Animal abuse and gross out imagery are ramped in this film. If you want them to see it. Check out the movie first or wait unit it comes to streaming.

A complete and utter disappointment. This was not the way I expected the series to end. Sorry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As of late I’ve enjoyed each Marvel film less and less, but this has to be the cringiest one. The cinematography looked cheap and the writing was subpar. The film tries to build suspense about who’s going to die, but the only person I wanted to die was me the whole time. Disney needs to reboot at this point, I fear they’re too far gone. Expand

"Guardians of the Galaxy 3: A Galactic Misfire & Disaster. Don't waste your money (June 4, 2023 -- A critical review by actual verified independent viewer, Phoenix Thottam)

In a galaxy far, far away, there was a franchise that captured the hearts of audiences with its irreverent humor and eclectic cast of misfits. However, the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy series, sadly, fails to live up to its predecessors. Director James Gunn's attempt to recapture the magic falls short, resulting in a lackluster and disappointing cinematic experience. Such an incredible formulaic disappointment. Did an AI write this script? Ridiculous plot and just a string of special effects. Don't believe the hype. Very disappointed in GofG #3. Don't waste your money.

*Plot and Pacing*: Guardians of the Galaxy 3 suffers from a convoluted and disjointed narrative. The plot meanders aimlessly, attempting to juggle numerous subplots and character arcs, but ultimately fails to deliver a cohesive story. The pacing is haphazard, with sudden shifts from intense action to sluggish exposition, leaving viewers confused and unengaged. It's as if the film lost its way amidst a cosmic abyss, desperately grasping for coherence but failing at every turn. *Character Development*: One of the strengths of the previous films was the depth and growth of the Guardians themselves. However, in this installment, the characters feel like mere caricatures of their former selves. They lack the emotional depth and chemistry that made them so endearing in the first place. Their interactions are forced, and the humor often falls flat, betraying the genuine charm that once made this franchise stand out. It's disheartening to witness the Guardians reduced to one-dimensional shells of their former glory. *Villain and Conflict*: The antagonist in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is an unimaginative and forgettable presence. The conflict lacks the stakes and tension that characterized the previous films. The once-dreaded Guardians find themselves facing a tepid and uninspiring foe who fails to evoke any sense of danger or urgency. This lack of a compelling villain leaves the film devoid of the necessary dramatic tension, resulting in a lackluster climax that leaves viewers underwhelmed. *Visual Effects and Cinematography*: While the Guardians of the Galaxy series has always been visually stunning, this third installment disappoints on that front as well. The CGI is inconsistent, ranging from breathtakingly beautiful to distractingly artificial. The action sequences lack the visual finesse and creative choreography that made the previous films so memorable. The cinematography feels lackluster, failing to capture the grandeur and cosmic wonder that this franchise once exuded. *Conclusion*: Wasted money and time seeing this. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is a total and complete disappointment on multiple fronts. It squanders the potential of its beloved characters, fails to deliver a cohesive and engaging narrative, and lacks the visual prowess that defined its predecessors. The charm and wit that once made this franchise shine have been replaced by a sense of fatigue and creative bankruptcy. This third installment feels like a mere cash grab, tarnishing the legacy of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It's a cosmic misfire that leaves fans yearning for the glory days of this once-promising franchise.

Humor is inappropriately delivered most if not all of the time. The overuse and frankly inappropriate use of of 80s/90s music is annoying at best. The motivations and actions of the characters make little to no sense at times. There is something really wrong with this movie, an underlying lust for depravity that is really annoying. How can one enjoy portraying the killing of massive numbers of mutilated animals when they have no agency? Some of these creations are just grotesque and the CGI pushed the limit more than once to display gross and grotesque creations. Expand

Marvel Decline Continues
I don't know what movie people leaving the high reviews saw but it wasn't Guardians. This installment takes everything that worked in previous Guardian movies and throws it away. Terrible story line, poorly timed bad (and not "good bad") jokes and don't even get me started on Adam Warlock. His character was so lame. Some of the costume choices are beyond bad. The movie as a whole was just bad. I don't want to give anything away but in short it was bad.
Do yourself a favor and wait for this to come out online. At least that way you can turn it off once you have had enough. I had high hopes for this film. I wanted it to be awesome. I was hoping the decline in the MCU would have ended or at least taken a break, but sadly I was let down.
I am done paying movie ticket prices for Marvel films. I will just wait for them to hit streaming until Disney fixes Marvel.

Very predictable and forced
I just watched GOG 3 and is a movie with nothing more than bad CGI. The plot, the script is very poor, it feels forced. I mean they wanted to make Rocket the center and the heart of the movie, but one thing is to actually accomplish that through a well writing script and a complete different thing is to use the sentence "you are the center of the story." I believe this type of movies are getting to the point in which the writers do not care about a good and deep dialogs and rather than that they only care of stupid jokes and silly acting. I feel sorry for the DC and WB movies in the hands of Gunn.

I loved the original: a pure gem of a film. While the second wasn't nearly as good, it is still rewatchable and that's not easy for a sequel. But this conclusion to the trilogy is bad on every level. How people who liked the previous films can gush over this one is simply beyond me. Lazy plotting. The soundtrack, while loaded with good songs, fails to deliver any emotional payoff. The humour consists of a few chuckles. Too many characters scream at each other. And the film just goes on and on. Gunn should have put the script through several revisions. Perhaps his mind was on the DC universe. It wasn't here.

Already sunk because of that infamous marvel humor
You think they listen to the audience. Do you want an only marvel movie that made any sense, was out of that horrible marvel banter humor. It's what you do when you cannot write a script, when it's jumbled, difficult to understand. But the incredible hulk was a standalone decent movie come and the only good marvel movie there was. It's not like laughter is never used, but fictitious movie depicted real life laughter, not this marvel so-called humor. They'll say it made a lot of money, but It didn't. People get tired of the same script written over and over again. And the more oblivious producers are to the audience, for worst the product is.
