I feel like it was significantly more focused on King, but the title still captures what this movie is all about. I think it's worth watching and I genuinely don't understand the negative criticism the movie is getting from the minority of folks. I think people are expecting a lot for a movie that originates from intentionally over the top monster-beat-em-up fun. This movie was always for the fans and not meant to contend for any film awards. From what I recall, Wingward was very up front about this that he was staying true to the original characters and even dropped easter eggs in their fight sequences. He also reiterated that this was supposed to be a fun movie for all ages and demographics to enjoy. I think he even said verbatim that he wanted a child to love it as much as their parents. Expand

My first ever movie review in general!
After 2020 being a complete **** full of unfortunate events, I have finally been able to watch the most anticipated film of both the year and the monsterverse series and man I have tons of things to say on most of the pros while only couple cons.
Pros:
1. Well done fights scenes
2. Well done visuals and CGI
3. Improvement to the fight’s lightning such as a the aircraft carrier fight during the day and the neon lights in hong kong.
4. Well done directing (courtesy of Adam Wingard)
5. Well Done musical score (courtesy of Junkie XL)
6. and bringing back the classic titan from the 1900s such as MechaGodzilla.
Cons:
1. The human plots ofc is lacklusting in some ways while improving little bit drastically.
2. Should’ve explored a little more on godzilla and kong’s history before meeting again.
3. One of the most cringiest human characters I ever seen in the series is Bernie Hayes which got me like bruh moments.
4. And one of the newest human characters that never got be much depth into is Ren Serizawa whose appear to be late son of the previous films Ishirō Serizawa. Tbh, I knew who he was when I figured why he works for the apex cypernatics because he wants to avenge his father’s death against godzilla and this film never got to explain much about him. Either way he was short lived who he is.

Either way, with the pros outweighing the humans parts, this is yet the one of the greatest monsterverse films ever made to me and I fully enjoyed the film in the theaters on the opening day and felt like the greatest way to fully experience the fights and all.
Giving it 9.5/9.9 out of 10

With all of that being said though, this movie isn't for everyone, the only thing that I didn't really like is that it felt like the the kids in the movie really weren't needed and that other than the ending didn't do anything but help the story along, they were shallow characters but not to the point to where it ruined anything for me. That's my two cents on this movie and I hope it helps out people Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

So why a 9 score? because the fights, the CGI and the HOLLOW EARTH arc are simply masterpieces

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well, it looks like the MonsterVerse redeemed itself from King of the Monsters, and redeemed itself really well. Godzilla vs Kong starts off strong with an absolutely dope opening credits sequence that does a great job of referencing the previous movies and making it clear that this one is a culmination of the three that came before it. The story and plot of the movie are creative and good enough to make the movie cohesive and flow pretty decently which is sure to keep viewers engaged and invested for the full runtime, and a surprise here and there only supplements this. This movie doesn’t have much character development in it, but it really doesn’t need that considering it’s title and does a great job without it. The acting is better than it was in KotM and helps this movie get to the heights of Godzilla and Skull Island. The kaiju action is really where this movie excels the most, and it’s probably the best we’ve gotten so far in the MonsterVerse. The fights between Godzilla and Kong are great, showcase that both have attributes that help them in combat and makes Godzilla seem a lot more powerful than he was in either of his previous two outings in this universe. The humans are again given the opportunity to lend a helping hand, but this movie makes it clear that humans are truly no match for Godzilla even with all the weaponry and soldiers they have; the first encounter between Godzilla and Kong makes this clear. This movie also fundamentally changes the relationship the humans have with both nature and the big monsters via a certain mechanized creation that becomes known a bit of the ways into the movie and hugely important at the end. GvK should teach us that we can’t fully control nature or beat it with our own creations and that nature will always have a level of dominance over us no matter what we do. In essence, the nature/culture binary is discussed a lot in this movie, something I really appreciated. The final battle sequence is an absolute delight and has a few lessons in it: the enemy of my enemy is my friend and sometimes, there are bigger fish to fry. The final fight is one of my favorite in the entire MonsterVerse and actually shows development on the part of Godzilla and Kong; it’s really fun to watch and allows this movie to transcend it’s title a bit. There are parts of the movie that go a bit overboard and slightly off the rails, and Bryan Tyree Henry’s character gets irritating at times, but other than that GvK earns redemption for the MonsterVerse and is entertaining, action-packed and engaging for its full runtime. I hope to see more movies in this universe after this one. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely loved this movie. Not perfect, as it touched on a few story points that meant literally nothing or went no where, but as a fan of the monsterverse, this one delivered. Everything I wanted to see from Godzilla and Kong fighting was epic, even if the story around it was a little less important. The big fight at the end was awesome, totally loved seeing the -verse expanded a bit, and the Hollow Earth could open up a ton of further development if this one delivers the way I hope it does!

Gone is the sense of self seriousness of previous entries, what we have is pure, unadulterated monster mash for the ages. Do you want a wrestling match between Kong And Godzilla? You got it. With great effects works, the rubber monsters conflict of yore are truly revived without any pretenses. Obviously, the human elements are still the worst part, but it's always been the case with these Kaiju flicks. Man, am I glad to be alive to see it. This, of course, could be another case of me spending a bit too much time in the "rule of contrast" zone (see review of "Wonder Woman 1984"), but I was pleasantly surprised by some of the human characters in this movie, namely a young girl with a connection to a building-sized ape and a conspiratorial podcaster with a proclivity for mile-a-minute blather and a couple charming quips every now and then. They're not the highlight of the movie by any stretch, but remain counterpoints to the argument that every scene involving human characters in this movie is "unwatchable." Clearly, it's been a second since these people have seen "King Of The Monsters," which is at least a few orders of magnitude worse in the characterization department. Being as real as I possibly can, however, the majority of props that I can give are going to anything and everything involving monsters, monsters fighting and monster world-building, all of which had me smiling like a primordial idiot. Still can't tell if it was the lizard brain or the primate brain in me that was so tickled, but in any event, I felt that -- as a film -- it more than made up for its admission price. More motion-tracked/GoPro-esque shots of kaiju punching each other, please, Mr. Wingard. Expand

Godzilla wants to kill with everything that takes away his reign from him, he arrives on the ocean liner where they take Kong and have their first round. Scientists want to find a power source to defeat Godzilla and reach the Earth's core that reminds us Jules Verne's "Journey to the Center of the Earth". Kong is the goddamn master there, fights against everyone, recovers an axe from his ancestors and sits on his throne like a whole king. Because of an atomic ray of Godzilla the hollow earth and the surface are connected, Kong arrives in Tokyo and the second and last round occurs with a spectacularity like few I've seen in cinema (I will not say who wins between Godzilla and Kong so as not to spoil). Evil company activates MechaGodzilla (a robot Godzilla) with the source, this monster is very powerful, he is going to kill Godzilla, Kong arrives with his axe and between they 2 fight him; Kong with a brutal attack destroys "Mecha". Kong and Godzilla look at each other and Kong drops his axe. They 2 remains as Alpha Titans, Godzilla on the surface and Kong in the hollow earth. The bad thing about the plot is the humans (as always a **** ****), you don't care abut them at all, you remove them and put in more monster fight and it would be great. This movie is not for 80' TV, cell phone or tablet, it is to be enjoyed at the cinema. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Is “Godzilla vs. Kong” a shoddy, old-fashioned popcorn film? with enough spectacle to make up for its, subtle characters, and sloppy storytelling? The film is entertaining, visually stunning, and was intended to be seen in a theatre. "Godzilla vs. Kong" is one of the most visually stunning monster films ever made. The film stays true to Toho's 60-year-old franchise, delving deeper into sci-fi territory than previous Monsterverse installments. The *Hollow Earth Theory* appears to be supported in this film. In any case, this film gave Kong and Godzilla their moments, and it was able to establish an emotional connection with the newly introduced characters. What's missing is the ephemeral and genuine awe that Gareth Edwards elicited in Godzilla in 2013. Ultimate warfare is a component of absolute beauty in neon-saturated Hong Kong. Wingard's prefers visible flourishes and inventive diversions. In "Godzilla vs. Kong," obstacles are transformed into virtues, and stupidity is transformed into a form of creativity. The creative team achieves the film's greatest success when it embraces its silliness and spectacle. It wouldn't have any lofty goals other than to excite me to no end. This is the VS film I'd hoped to see. "Godzilla vs. Kong" is my favourite VS film from the previous decade. You should probably watch all of the other movies in this universe if you want to see a good story! "Godzilla vs. Kong" promises epic-scale battles and a satisfying reunion between these two movie titans. If you're looking for a sci-fi adventure with massive monster battles, this is the film for you. Balancing genuine human concern with monster-bashing, - There's just enough humour to keep things moving along, and enough subplots to keep things interesting. Despite this, the film is watchable. This one comes highly recommended by me. Expand

so guess pros and cons, PROS: can see the fights, kong and godzilla are just awesome, the human stuff is actully pretty ok compared to the previous ones, hollow earth is so cool to see, (redacted) was also pretty awesome (a spoiler so wont say but if youve seen you should know who im talking about), the sounds are top tier, the relationship of kong and the little girl brings a smile to ones face, the creature designs are much better, tons of brainless fun

CONS: ill concede the script could use a bit more work, the human stuff is still the most boring part of the movie (i mean thats expected), do wish godzilla and kong had more reasons to fight then "they have a grudge, and both want to be king"

honestly not much to say agianst, if your looking for just a fun movie with great action scenes, awesome monster fights, then yeah come see this you will not regret it, if you want complexity then look elsewhere, but i can say i cannot wait for more as it looks like they are taking lessons so maybe soon we will get a monster movie that satisfys almost everyone

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm stuck between giving this game a 7 or an 8. I am sure that everyone who watches these movies are only looking for a lot of Godzilla vs Kong. Well I'm gonna tell you that there are plenty of Godzilla vs Kong in this movie. There are plenty of negatives I would give this movie and that is, I'm gonna spoil it a little here, there are 2 groups of humans that are the main focus of this movie other than Godzilla and Kong. The group where there are only 3 people including Millie Bobby Brown's character goes through these filler garbage of a plot that is no where near interesting and is just used to show you the real enemy and that's it. The other group's plot was pretty good and was no where near bad or even amazing, it's just good. The other kinda negative about this movie is the characters, they are probably the most one dimensional characters but then again I will not include this as a negative because who the hell cares about the humans right. The main thing I most definitely despise about this movie is the ending, the ending felt so rushed that you're like "wtf it ended there??" and because there is no post credit scene or even a end credit scene, it made the ending a lot more disappointing. Other than that, this movie is still **** great, the CGI is incredible and the final fight is so satisfying that you can't help but rewatch it over and over again. That's my review Expand

Although the human stars can be rather glossed over in depth and characterization, the two main stars, Godzilla and Kong, are an absolute joy to watch on screen. The movie understands it's own outlandish plot and over the top sequences, and embraces it, knowing exactly what audiences have paid to see. If you're looking for deeper meanings and themes, stray away from Godzilla vs Kong, because all you'll be getting are stunningly animated and breathtakingly awesome giant monster fights. Expand

I enjoyed the movie, but not as much as the last one. this was more of a king kong movie than a fight movie which I wasn't for, but all in all a good movie with action and understandable characters.

The only substantial problem with this film is it's lacking story but if you say you went to watch godzilla vs kong for story you are either an idiot or a liar all you should care about is the action with the story there to frame it

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Godzilla vs Kong did the one thing the other Monsterverse films were afraid to do: it made the monsters the main characters. Millie Bobby Brown was kept as a main protagonist and added a few Team Godzilla characters to support her while Kong had a team of characters to follow his story as well but the leads were the monsters. The movie succeeded in making Kong the more heroic of the two but not transforming Godzilla to a villain. Godzilla was a force of nature and Kong, not by his own doing, was upsetting the natural order. Mecha-Godzilla was a great third act villain and the connection to Ghidorah, whom I hope will make a return at some point, added to the twist.

The movie isn’t perfect but if you are watching a Heavyweight Monster film then you know what you want and the director knew what you wanted and delivered. Overall, a great summer blockbuster and proves that with the right director Godzilla and Kong have a lot more gas in the tank.

OMFG this is the MonsterVerse movie i've been waiting on.

kong jumps off a aircraft carrier like john mcclain, he pops his shoulder back in place like mel gibson in lethal weapon and he rips Mechgodzilla's spine out like the predator.

this movie had me jumping up a down, it's not the smartest or deepest film but i thoroughly enjoyed it. if the MonsterVerse has more of this i'll be extremely happy.

were there easter eggs of ready player one and blade runner in this film as well? i was half excepting jagears from pacific rim to appear in the climax.

i'm kind of disappointed that it doesn't have a mid or post credit scene though, but i was still amazed.

this film is definitely the king of the MonsterVerse... so far.

p.s. the human characters were kind of useless and underdeveloped as well. but I didn't care at all i came to see a giant ape fight a lizard that shoots blue fire!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Definitley the second best MonsterVerse movie IMO. The characters were decent but that's a common thing in all MonsterVerse movies besides Godzilla (2014) however the inclusion of someone being able to actually communicate with one of the Titans was a cool idea, the plot was good but I think we needed more from the Apex subplot since this movie feels way more like Kong 2 (feat. Godzilla) however the Titan fights were definitley the best part of the movie tho, especially the massive fight at the end with Godzilla, Kong and even MonsterVerse Mechagodzilla stepping in after the real Godzilla nearly defeated Kong for good. The one thing they didn't do too bad of a job on in Kong Skull Island. It has a good amount of action and the Monster battles are fun. Plotwise its nothing special but these movies rarely ever have a good one. you are mainly paying to see the Monster fights. The CGI is a bit mixed here. Godzilla, Kong and MechaGodzilla all look good. some of the underground stuff looks pretty crappy.

Still its pretty fun and i enjoyed it.

After hating the last Godzilla movie and watching director Adam Wingard butcher beloved franchises like Death Note and Blair Witch, ON TOP of not enjoying the one work of his I've seen that wasn't tied to a preexisting property, all signs pointed to this not being my cup of tea. So imagine my surprise when it turned out that not only DID I enjoy it, but that it's the first entry in the MonsterVerse to truly deliver on the one thing we've all wanted to see from these films in the first place: giant monsters fighting.

Right from the opening shot of Kong waking up and scratching his butt you know you're in for a very silly time. Vs. in no way takes itself seriously. The tone is irreverent and all of the new characters portrayed by the likes of Brian Henry and Julian Dennison (this kid is the best) are just goofy joke dispensers. The plot is also so absurd and nonsensical that you can't help but wonder why the writers couldn't come up with a less convoluted means of getting these two titans to clash.

The humans are once again unnecessary (and extremely stupid), but for the first time don't get in the way. They do their job of carrying the exposition without distracting from the Kaiju or their battle. In fact, it's the monsters who receive the real characterization here. Godzilla in a somewhat villainous turn fully becomes that stereotypical anime protagonist who goes around fighting everyone just to prove he's the strongest. Meanwhile, Kong gets put through the wringer in a surprisingly emotional arc that finds the giant monkey imprisoned and constantly getting dragged around by the idiots at Monarch before finally discovering his origins.

We're not here for the script though, are we? No, the appeal comes strictly from what the title promises, and that's a couple of massive beasts throwing down for dominance. On that front it delivers completely. The destruction. The spectacle. The scale. It's all so much fun and unlike King of the Monsters is never obscured by particle effects or incessant cutaways to the people on the ground, which means we get to witness all of the action in its full glory, even if the CGI isn't quite what it could have been.

So yeah, it's about as dumb as a box of rocks. That's okay though because Warner Bros. finally gathered that it won't matter so much if you not only "let them fight," but let us SEE them fight as well, and preferably with as little interference from the humans as possible. Or at least they hired someone who did. Seriously, props to Wingard for being the first person given the reigns on one of these to realize that the Kaiju brawls should be the focus and that the morons at Monarch need to be used as sparingly as possible because they suck. He pretty much just saved the MonsterVerse despite his track record indicating the opposite would happen and made me willing to give him another chance in process. Maybe I'll check out The Guest sometime after all.

Man when the action hits the VS part of its name sake I think it actually becomes pretty great. There’s a lot to take in with this one that has the cast going to even more fantastic places than the previous installments. There is a feast for the eyes to take in in almost every shot and that lends its self really well with the fun you can tell is being had on screen from the cast. It can drag a little in the “humans now on screen telling us what’s happening” parts. As serious as the plot can be all in all it’s still a campy good time. If you like blockbuster CGI movies and where at all impressed with the previous movies I’d give this a shot. Expand

The monster verse has been up and down for me butThe thing that I wanted from Godzilla vs Kong was just some really epic action, some decent human characters and uhh GODZILLA VS KONG TO HAVE FIGHT AN EPIC FIGHT and the movie delivered that. The monster verse has been up and down for me but overall decent. I thought Godzilla (2014) was good, the human characters were pretty decent and I liked the tone but Godzilla didn't show up most of the time and teased him way too often and the end result wasn't satisfying enough. Kong: Skull Island had really good fights, I enjoyed seeing Kong in all his glory but the human characters were just bland and the second half was slow. Then Godzilla: King of the Monsters was just slightly above average, the human characters were beyond bland and generic and this time we see a lot of Godzilla but the monster fights weren't really that jaw-dropping.

Now there's Godzilla vs Kong, the pacing was really well done, it has the best pacing of the Monster Verse movies so far, and felt like an adventure action movie, you didn't spend too much time on human characters and the plot had a narrative and moved from point A to B really well, nothing felt rushed or bogged down too much. Then the human characters were pretty decent and at this point I wasn't looking for amazing character development or anything I just didn't want to be bored when I watched the human story and they delivered on that. The little girl who has a connection to Kong was good, I enjoyed seeing her relationship to Kong and their development that produced some good moments between the two. Alexander Skarsgård and Rebecca Hall were fine in this movie, they each had a story and they weren't bland and they delivered some funny lines too.

Some characters though were pretty generic and bland for example Eiza González's character was generic and forgettable, Demián Bichir was very corny and cartoony and also Brian Tyree Henry who played a ratio host/conspiracy theorist had some funny lines at times but was often annoying and had some forced humor in the movie, him and Julian Dennison tried to be funny but at times came off as annoying. Kyle Chandler who played a more prominent role in the last Godzilla movie was just there is this one and lastly the story with Millie Bobby Brown slowed the movie down at times and her story felt too corny for this movie.

The tone was also done well for the most part, when thing got serious especially with the fights you could feel the intensity and humor for the most part was handled well expect for some few moments that had forced humor but wasn't a major downside for the movie. Now let's talk about the action, when Kong and Godzilla fought it was epic the movie delivered exactly what I wanted from this movie, especially the last act of the movie was just non-stop action and it wasn't too much to the point you got bored. Without spoiling the last fight where Godzilla and Kong fought exceeded my expectations and the visuals and shots were well done and is undoubtedly the best action in the monster verse and they didn't cut away from the big monster fights like Godzilla (2014) did and there were a lot of epic moments. The visuals and CGI were great and well directed including some beautiful scenery and as I said it felt like an adventure movie at time and what's an adventure movie without some beautiful shots. I am glad Adam Wingard the director redeemed himself for that Death Note movie.

Out of the two monsters Kong was the best in terms of narrative, he the better story of the two and connected to the human characters in a way that made sense and really felt something for Kong compared to Godzilla who I have felt little to nothing for in his past movies simplify because he has had the least human to monster connection in his last two movies and here he is a villain so that just made him more of a generic monster however that's all made up for when he fights cause it's amazing. Also without spoiling anything there is a surprise in this movie in the 3rd act that delivers some really nice action and moments too.

Although this movie had some silly parts especially with scenes involving Brian Tyree Henry and Julian Dennison who tried too hard to be funny, some forgettable and generic characters, Godzilla not being able to connect or contribute to the story or character connections and the plot slowing down a bit at times, the main thing was that this movie was fun, exciting and delivered on the action especially the big fight between Godzilla vs Kong (and there is a definitive winner, so more points to this film) that exceeded my expectations, decent human characters and some a few surprises, this was a good movie, easily the best movie and well-rounded of the monster-verse.

The premise is "Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home. Along for the ride is Jia, an orphaned girl who has a unique and powerful bond with the mighty beast. However, they soon find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla as he cuts a swath of destruction across the globe. The initial confrontation between the two titans -- instigated by unseen forces -- is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the planet". So does it live up to the massive hype or fails to deliver?

Firstly, the fight scenes between the two titular characters are amazing. The director, Adam Windgard succeeds in giving an epic brawl between the two and showing their distinct fighting styles. Godzilla has this brutal, animalistic and force of nature style that just demolishes everything compared to Kong's more cunning and agile is just a sight to behold. The fight scenes are some of the best in the series so far, without a doubt. What's even better is that there are fights that are actually in the daytime! The two previous Godzilla movies mostly had fights that were at nighttime in the rain with minimal light. Here there are daytime fights where every action is completely visible. While there are still some fights at night, the lighting is significantly better so even the nighttime fights are improved. Additionally, there is a clear winner between the two which is quite surprising.

The CGI is also still incredibly impressive with the two titular characters looking better than ever. The score by Junkie XL is also great as it makes the action scenes feel more exciting. Although, his work here isn't as great as say Mad Max Fury Road or Zack Snyder's Justice League but it still does a fairly good job. There are also some visually great shots by cinematographer Ben Seresin that illustrates the grand nature of Godzilla and Kong. Although, none of the shots is as gorgeous as in Godzilla: King of the Monsters but it still works for the movie. One problem I did have with Godzilla: King of the Monsters was that the focus was too much on the human characters. Godzilla vs Kong rectifies this to an extent by having Kong's journey be the focus with the humans along for the ride. Another thing that was fixed is the runtime. It is under 2 hours, so I never got overly bored at points like in the previous Monsterverse movie. The pacing is just right and by the end, I felt satisfied. There is also a great relationship shown throughout between Jia (Kaylee Hottle), a young and mute orphan, who has a special bond with Kong. It's actually quite heart-warming to watch and gives Kong some more depth and personality. Ironically, Jia is the best human character so far in the series and she can't talk.

However, the same can't be said about the other human characters. Dr Nathan Lind (Alexander Skarsgård) is just the typical reluctant hero character and nothing more than that. Dr Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall) is just a Kong exposition lady. Bernie Haye (Brian Tyree Henry) is comic relief 1 and Josh Valentine (Julian Dennison) is comic relief 2. Madison Russell (Millie Bobby Brown) and Dr Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler) return from Godzilla: King of the Monsters without any improvement in their characters with Mark's character arc from that movie being tossed out of the window here. Walter Simmons (Demián Bichir) is a typical evil CEO and Maia Simmons (Eiza González) is just evil henchmen. There is also a giant waste of a potentially interesting character in Ren Serizawa (Shun Ogori) who is the son of the "Let them fight" guy from the previous Godzilla movies. While the "Let them fight" guy love the Titans and wanted to coexist with them, Ren is working on the opposite side that is trying to wipe them out. Why is he trying to wipe the monsters? Why did he not follow in his father's footstep? What was his relationship with his father? How did he feel about his father's death? The movie does not elaborate whatsoever on his character even though there is potentially an interesting idea here. Instead, he is only used to be name-dropped so that some people can go "oh he has the same name as let them fight guy" and fulfil one plot point. Overall, Godzilla vs Kong delivers on a thrilling brawl between the titular characters. It is still unfortunate that none of the Monsterverse movies can provide compelling human characters where the stones are there. However, the director clearly understands the audience and what they desire. He doesn't insert an abundance of human drama or overly complicated plot threads. He gives the audience exactly what they want and that is a big lizard fighting a big monkey, and it is phenomenal.

You get exactly what the title promises - an epic clash between Kong and Godzilla. The fights are worth the price of admission alone. Whenever the two stars of the show are on the screen, they deliver, and the CGI team should be commended for that. And in a surprising move, we actually get a clear winner.

Besides that, there isn't much else here. The humans add absolutely nothing to the film, and that isn't all on the actors. The entire plot around them is so poorly written, there's no point to them even being there.

If you're into two big monsters fighting, this is absolutely for you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While yes I feel the movie can stand alone as a monster movie for all the monster movie fans there is but one HUGE gripe I have and that's that they implied Godzilla was born in radiation from the center of the earth which is entirely contrary to the original plot of Godzilla which is he was born of the radiation from the Hydrogen bomb that the US set off after world War 2. While to most this little detail is not of great significance it honestly makes Godzilla's original message not stand as strong as it used to. Minor gripes are the profile shots of godzilla throughout the movie. They really don't add anything and feel random.
And the random deaf girl felt weird. It's obvious they just added her to give an excuse for Kong talking to someone and while I don't know of a better method to do this I feel there was some better way to achieve this out there(if she was a prominent character in skull Island her inclusion would have made more sense).
Overall hope for more Godzilla movies. Favorite monster movie series.

Um bom filme. Mas não vai além disso graças as interações humanas serem forçadas e um tanto desnecessárias em um filme onde os protagonistas são os monstros.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Better than "King of the Monsters" in terms of plot. The return of Mechagodzilla is amazing for G Fans and Kong feels just as awesome as he did in "Skull Island". Characters could have used more development and many parts were confusing but you just want to watch two legendary monsters fight. Expand

Decent movie with awesome fight scenes and very good visuals but the plot and human characters are so bland and boring. The only good character is Gia the little girl who communicates with Kong

At this time, we can't ask so much for the narrative of this kind of movies, so taking into consideration, this is the big cinematic phenomenon of the year.

I love the idea of a great monster movie clash, and though they have two of the very top dogs in this, it is all just so heavily, heavily disneyfied. The scenes where we did get the big lads going at it were I suppose, just about worth the 'price of admission' and to give this movie a very generous 5.5/10, but the little girl and her pet monkey trope and the ragtag nincompoops sideplot were intolerable. At least they didn't shove in a romance angle, so at least there's that...but they could have made a truly brutal, epic, pound-for-pound slugfest of a battle film, and they didn't - to be 'safe' I suppose.

Both these titans deserve better.

I know that films like this are supposed to be "fun" and "turn off your brain"-type, but that's exactly why I don't generally like them. I don't necessarily watch films to have fun, but to actually think and feel something sometimes. Having gotten that whole schpeel out of the way, I pretty much knew what I was getting before sitting down to watch this, and that's dumb, loud monster fights, ultimate destruction, and CGI galore. So if that's your thing, you'll likely get a kick out of this, but for me, it was very little substance and all style and flashes. Still though, the fighting is undeniably entertaining to watch at times... But that's about all the film has going for it. Not much of a deep story and very few actors/characters to actually care about, but overall, just come and stay for the loud monsters and destruction, and depending on how much you enjoy blockbusters like these will determine your enjoyment factor of this one. Bad CGI. No plot. No twists. Just Godzilla. And Kong. By the way it should be named ''Kong vs. Godzilla'' because there's much more Kong than Godzilla.

We finally have the release of Godzilla vs. Kong. The rumble in the jungle or more like rumble in the major city and water scenes. Massive destruction and the most epic monsters of the last century finally meet in this century. You must be able to tell my excitement or utter boredom to watch a movie released on a Wednesday; yet, here we are talking about Godzilla vs. Kong. It's the historic next chapter of two icons meeting to balance the Earth's scales while also destroying most things humanity has built. Let's see if it was worth the wait.

First, there is way too much talking in this movie. We all know what we came to see! Godzilla! Run, run, run! Oh no, it's King Kong! Save the woman he holds in his hands! Yet, the filmmakers again found it necessary to just talk talk talk talk talk talk. You have gigantic CGI Monsters to entertain us! Quit with the scenes of Eleven or the cute deaf child and mom and give us the epic fights we deserve. No actor in this movie is bad, but they also aren't memorable in the slightest. The only thing I remember is that they are holding us back from - just like I'm holding this review back to talk about nonsense - the major event Kong vs. Godzilla.

The two heroes are one word... impressive. The scenery - impressive. It feels a bit "borrowed" from Avatar but impressive nonetheless. I mean there's the total and absolute destruction of Toyko. I didn't realize the city was that large but who cares. I mean probably hundreds of thousands of people died in these battles but who's keeping track. I know the filmmakers aren't. They went full on DC Movies with the destruction in this one. Yes, it makes for an entertaining movie, except we could've stood even more battle scenes and less watch Kong run scenes. This movie was more like a King Kong therapy session rather than a battle for Earth at times. Also, I wish they featured Godzilla a bit more. Yes, we've seen his movies to sleep, but he is a star of the movie... treat him like one.

Long story short, you know what you're coming for. Don't get brand new out here and I might not even suggest risking your life in the theaters. Action and Monster fans you'll find this worth a big box but everyone else you'll definitely get a big bowl of entertainment, especially watching on HBO Max, out of this movie. Whether you're a King Kong fan or a Godzilla fan you'll enjoy... once they shut up and stop talking us through the plot.
