Is the reboot of Ghostbusters the greatest comedy ever? Hell no. Does it have problems? Oh absolutely. The CGI is horrible, and some jokes fall flat. This was a surprisingly fun movie. Even before it was released, this Ghostbusters reboot had already been the centre of great criticism, even becoming the most disliked trailer in the history of YouTube. But whilst it never feels like this reboot completely escapes the shadowEven before it was released, this Ghostbusters reboot had already been the centre of great criticism, even becoming the most disliked trailer in the history of YouTube. But whilst it never feels like this reboot completely escapes the shadow of the 1984 original, Paul Feig's Ghostbusters has successfully defied it's poor trailer by building on the talents and personalities of its entire cast to create a fun, up-beat and all-round entertaining experience.

It more or less follows most of the basic plot beats of the original film. After ghosts begin to pop up in New York, three scientists (Wiig, McCarthy and McKinnon) begin to investigate and along with a subway employee who witnessed the ghosts called Patty (Leslie Jones) they form a team to start fighting these ghosts. The only major difference is this time the ghosts are being lured in to our dimension by a man named Rowan who detests humanity and wants to destroy everyone. He's a villain so uninteresting and generic you'll forget about him as you're watching it.

Fortunately the rest of the cast are all hilarious. They avoid falling in to the trap of being gender swapped versions of the original Ghostbusters cast and instead let their own comedic styles and personalities form unique dynamics between the new characters without relying on the 1984 original.

Wiig plays Abby, a paranormal expert who loses her tenure due to her belief in the paranormal. She is the most restrained member of the cast whose best strength is playing off the other cast members. McCarthy also does well by moving away from her brash and outspoken performances in films like Tammy and Bridesmaids, instead playing a lovable upbeat scientist, in a role that gives her a good opportunity to show of her physical comedic skills.

Leslie Jones is at her best when she's reacting to the strangeness of everything that's going on like running away from a mannequin that's come to life screaming at it to stop. Chris Hemsworth plays the dim-witted secretary, in what at first could have risked being a one note joke of role reversing the dumb blonde stereotype. But Hemsworth seems to elevate the source material with some great comedic delivery that makes him become a surprisingly likable mascot for the film.

Though the real show stealer is definitely Kate McKinnon whose hyper-energetic style dominates the film whenever she's on screen. Even when she's not the focus she'll be in the background doing loads of visual gags. She's a weird mixture of an oddball personality and some great physical comedy to create one of the most charming and bizarre characters from any of Feig's films.

The film is definitely at its strongest when Feig lets his own style takeover and focuses on letting the casts unique personalities and chemistries lead the film. Some of the films best moments are where the characters are just given an opportunity to hang out, like when McKinnon and Wiig are at their new headquarters and randomly burst out in to a small song and dance number that accidentally sets the place on fire.

In contrast the films weakest moments tend to be when it tries to homage or throw in too many call-backs to the original film. At times these are hilarious with cameos from Akroyd and Slimer being some of the best moments of the film that are bound to appease both fans and newcomers alike. But at other times the filmmakers try so hard to show their love of the original film that they end up turning away from the fun personalities of the characters and instead stop the film dead in its track to directly quote lines like "mass hysteria" from the original film. They do references like this so often throughout that it ends up feeling like the film is unable to stand apart entirely from the 1984 original.

Also Feig does seem somewhat limited when it comes to some of the films big action set pieces and seems uncomfortable working with the heavy amounts of CGI. This is particularly clear in the films finale where the film sways away from the actress's chemistry that made the film fun and replaces it with an extended fight sequence against generic looking ghosts that feels like it drags on for way too long.

Though there are still some creative aspects to these sequences. It is cool to see all the different weapons that the Ghostbusters have including things like whips, pistols and grenades that are something genuinely different to what we saw from the original Ghostbusters. And the film as a whole is definitely a lot of fun to watch. Unfortunately it's not going to be good enough to win over people who go in to the film expecting to hate it, but for anyone hoping for a fun movie this will not disappoint.… Expand

The Force Awakens was a near scene-for-scene remake of the original Star Wars with little more than a gender-swapped main character and flashier special effects to update it for modern audiences. It was ultimately a lesser film than the original and yet it's been met with near universal acclaim and abundant goodwill from the movie going public.

In this case, though, the remake improves on the original in almost every way, and yet it is met with the kind of vitriolic negativity usually reserved for war criminals and politicians.

I really want to believe that this negativity is not simply a reaction to the idea of a movie that features four female leads, but sadly I fear that is exactly the case.

Either way, if you want to see fun, lighthearted, entirely enjoyable movie at the cinema, you won't go wrong in seeing Ghostbusters.… Expand

Certainly with its flaws it still entertains with its rapid fire cast. It sure does have a lot of misses but the jokes come out so fast you really do not mind quite so much when some fall flat. The new ghostbusters worked well together, most people seem to have issue with the fact it wasn't a continuation of the original and getting mad over how they would have done it. Well its new universe for and its like the first trailer 30 years have past since that came out things have indeed changed. It was nice to see the camos from other actors.

The ending for me was the weakest part and very rushed with the final scenes being all too much CGI . I will be getting this on blueray… Expand

Fleeting. I mean, this movie just whizzes by.

The performances are great, and there's something to be said about Kate Mckinnon here. But this is about as disjointed as a Supernatural-Comedy can get. The genre's don't work together,Fleeting. I mean, this movie just whizzes by.

I was against the idea of a reboot and went to see it, because I loved the original and Dan Aykroyd had good things to say about it. We saw it in a packed theatre on Union Square in NYC. There were tons of people laughing at the appropriate times. I didn't find it laugh out loud funny, but it was amusing, like a comic strip. Typical that all the 'good' scenes are from the trailer. Plot was decent, but moved too slowly. Nothing subtle about the switch of female leads with a hot, dumb male which was obvious and in your face. Kate McKinnon is the best part and sadly, her gun licking is her best scene. All the original cast's cameos are brief and shoe-horned in and added nothing special. Based on the audience's reaction, I must say that it felt like a solid 70-75, but my emotions got in the way and I just felt sad and a little foolish that a silly movie from my childhood could evoke such a strong reaction. They chose to do a reboot and not the passing of the torch. I think teens who don't know or care about the original will love this movie and all us 'old people' just have to accept that our pop culture is gone. I've become that old guy who said, "Who's this Indiana Jones? Back in my day, Errol Flynn, now there's a hero!". Go see it, but do yourself a favor and don't compare it to the original. You might like it. If I rate this movie through the lens of the original, it's more like a 3, but I'm just some middle-aged guy who still loves the movies he grew up with...… Expand

The female led Ghostbusters reboot is finally here, and I’ve got to say I think it’s a pretty good movie. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this film, mostly from internet hacks who were clinging to the sexist chant that “women aren’t funny.” Ghostbusters is clever and funny, features cool special effects, but is admittedly a little cliched. That being said this film is very good, and I would say don’t let the audience reviews online sway your opinion too much.
For those who don’t know anything about the Ghostbusters reboot, it’s being made by the same people that made Bridesmaids. Bridesmaids is one of the funnier recent comedies, but i’ll go so far as to say I enjoyed Ghostbusters more. While Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig are their reliable selves, the show stealers for me were Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. All 3 brought an unexpected level of humor and screen presence, and almost every joke delivered by Leslie Jones had me laughing out loud. Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon may have entered this film as almost exclusively SNL stars, but after this film I think you’ll see them in a lot more.
The rebooted Ghostbusters, much like the original, uses a lot of special effects, in an attempt to mix big budget CGI with comedy. The original Ghostbusters, sort of broke ground by proving that comedy and big budget special effects could work together, nowadays it’s commonplace as every Marvel movie uses the same approach. That being said the effects in this movie, especially the sound design, were cool and looked good. I will say that some of the effects reminded me of Star Wars, but they aren’t the first and they won’t be the last to copy that movie.
The only big problem I had with the movie was that it felt somewhat derivative. Many moments in the movie it felt like they were nodding to the original instead of trying to be different. That along with the reliance of Paul Fieg on the overly talkative humor, where characters refuse to ever let the audience figure a joke out for themselves, are really the only things that seemed weak in the film. That being said major fans of actions films should beware that the action sequences are nothing special, and some characters aren’t all that well developed.
So in essence Ghostbusters is no masterpiece, it’s really not even a great movie, but it is pretty entertaining. The cast is great in the movie, many of the jokes worked, the effects were cool, the soundtrack was nostalgic fun, and the movie even featured cameos from the entire cast of the original, that are still with us. For those who feel weary because the online fan reviews and ratings have been bad, I fear many of those reviewers never saw the movie, and instead gave the movie a bad rating out of hatred that women are in a traditionally male movie. This is a fairly entertaining comedy, and regardless of what you’ve heard if you like comedies check this movie out.… Expand

Now I love Melissa McCarthy, Paul Feig films (The Heat, Spy) and I think she has a humorous personality. In this movie she kind of was the same character as before. The other three ghostbusters were fine and they were entertaining for the most part. Chris Hemsworth kind of felt like an idiot in this film, but that was okay although it felt like he was just an additional character casted into the film. The film itself had a pretty strong beginning and then it just kind of dragged. However, the film itself had some pretty good elements and this film kinda reminded me of TMNT2. Ghostbusters was overlong and did feel like a cash grab remake, but it's watchable for the most part and it certainly doesn't deserve a 2.3 user score. (69/100)… Expand

Firstly, I should clarify that the original Ghost Busters is one of my all time favorite movies but because I truly love the film, I can also acknowledge it's own faults. Exactly like with this new Ghostbusters. It is not good movie. It definitely could've been yet not as iconic nor groundbreaking like the original. That problem is due to the fact that Sony wanted it to make so many callbacks so that the movie could appease the fans. It is a shame that Paul Feig did not have complete creative control over this reboot because this movie could've been really good plus some possibly interesting future films in the franchise. So the nonetheless I loved it and I liked a tad more than Ghostbusters 2. It is disappointing to know that this is the only Holtzman we get in movie form.… Expand

The CGI was a lot better than I expected and the movie was funny. There were a lot of jokes when it hit it hit hard when it didn't hit it was super unfunny. The villain on the other hand does not fit in and isn't remotely funny. They are really pushing feminism with this movie with every male an idiot or a ass and the woman superior in everything. I'm fine with feminism and all but don't constantly throw it in our face. The action scenes where pretty cool and overall I was satisfied.… Expand

Whoever is in charge of or put together the trailer for this movie needs to be fired. The movie is not as bad as some people made it out to be and no, it will not ruin your childhood. The beginning started out strong, then the pacing feels kind of off. The two best things about the movie is Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth. Hands down. Kates chararcter, Jillian Holtzmann, is a character. Chris's character Kevin is very funny. You can tell he had fun playing that part. Here is where I am baffled. Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are kind of just there. They have no real personality. Patty Tolan played by Leslie Jones, is a very stereotypical African american role. The same role she basically plays on SNL. I admit she did deliver some funny moments but for the "funny" part it really wasn't all that "funny" for a movie that is trying really hard to be funny. I would have rather the funny moments just came naturally. (Like Ghostbusters 1 and 2) I hate to keep comparing it to the originals but we are all human and the originals are cult classics. Of course we are going to compare them. Overall the movie is watchable. Pacing is at times a bit awkward. It's geared towards a different audience. Kids up to age 12 or even teenagers will love the movie. Fans who grew up with Ghostbusters 1 and 2 will probably enjoy the many cameos of the original cast members but here is my gripe. I feel like this movie could have and would have been better and much better received if they had a "passing of the torch" movie with the original cast. Even with the passing of Harold Ramis they would have still pulled it off tastefully all while keeping the same plot and story line. Overall: The originals still stand strong and are better movies. Ghostbusters 2016 is watchable and not "Fant4stic" or "Superman IV" levels of bad. It's not a bad movie, it's not a great movie, it just is. It's watchable, has it's moments and it is definitely not as bad as some "fans" are making it out to be.… Expand

I'll make this short as enough has been said about this film already.

If you have seen any of Feig's previous efforts then you already know the tone of the film, add some familiar collaborators and you have Bridesmaids with ghosts. Both Kristin Wiig and Melissa McCarthy give slightly-tuned versions of their usual schtick. Leslie Jones - despite reviews saying otherwise - gives us a sassy Metro worker that has an inherent love of New York history (which is shoehorned into the relevant moments so obviously, I didn't buy it). The standout for me was Kate McKinnon playing a manic, offbeat Kramer-style character that continued to hold my interest throughout the film--she was the closest in feel to an actual Ghostbuster character. Lastly Chris Hemsworth as a Himbo, plays a solid but forgettable comedic role that has its moments but was done better previously.

Actors aside, the story is passable but not particularly interesting, the villian is (as we should be used to by now) serviceable but bland, and most of the gadgets (given greater screen time this time round) weren't especially memorable updates, with most showing up in the third act, just in time for a silly cgi-laden, ghostbuster showdown that ejects comedy for flashiness. Lastly, the modified theme tune is so uninspired they would have been better starting from scratch.

This is a solid, entertaining family movie, quickly forgotten, that won't change minds stuck in '84'. Kids will undoubtedly enjoy it but as for the adults, well...… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A decent, good-not-great sequel to the beloved 80s film, this makes plenty of references to the original (too many, actually). Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon steal the film, while Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy mostly play it straight. I like Chris Hemsworth but feel his character is too cartoonish and doesn't mix well with the rest of the cast. This plays more comedic and light-hearted than the original two did, and the tonal inconsistency will really prevent this from being remembered like the original is today. The visual effects are pretty impressive, especially in 3D, and the neon colors of the ghosts is quite lovely to behold. Hardly the trainwreck everyone was expecting, go see it for Jones and McKinnon, both of whom are hilarious. The ending of the film is the worst part of the film, pulling one of those "reset" conclusions that makes the climactic battle seem exceptionally dull and pointless.… Expand

OK Im a guy giving a movie review about Ghostbuster and I dont care about all the back & forth between the haters that never went to the movie vs women that said its was great no matter what. I thought acting here was good. The story was loose and didnt feel constrained with too much exposition. The graphics - call them scooby doo if you like kids films, but they worked just fine. I have no clue why this movie got such negative reviews! It was cute and funny; stop comparing it to the past versions. It was more towards the younger demographic versus the original's darker sense which would have been amazing.

But all in all, I went in with an open mind and actually enjoyed it. I wasn't there comparing the two films or anything, I based this review off of video work / CG, as well as, acting and it was better than expected.

Definitely a movie to watch, but not one to buy.… Expand

The original Ghostbusters movie was one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie pales in comparison. I did not go into the theater with high expectations. I have nothing against a nearly full women cast, but it did have a really feminine kind of feel to it which it every much different to the first movie, it felt more like a "chick-flick" than an action movie to some degree. I wish they made the characters a little more gender neutral or less "stereotypical girly". I did enjoy the African American Women's character a bit more however.

The female version of "Egon" kind of lacked in character, the original Egon was a believable nerd, this one was just a bit of an oddball that didn't have much to say but in a way that was not believable. She was
the subject of a humourous jokes, mostly prop comedy which did make me laugh sometimes.

The jokes were hit and miss. I did find some of the joke funny and burst into laughter, other ones, particularly the potty jokes involving speech about a women's genitals, feel flat, they were not funny to me and no one in the theatre around me appeared to laugh at those either.

This is to the original Ghostbusters movie kind of what MacGruber is to MacGyverr. Really this should have been marketed as a parody of the original Ghostbusters movie than a reboot since that is what it really is.

I did enjoy the movie enough that I didn't hate it so I've given it a 7, slightly above average rating. I did like it better than Ghostbusters II but that one was a flop too so that is not saying much.… Expand

The film fulfills its mission, is funny. It leaves behind all that the trailers showed, outdoing itself. Though i was surprised that the film almost last 2 hours, i not perceive the duration. The movie feels fresh, is recomendable watch with family or friends.

Unfortunately, many people hated the idea of a remake from the beginning and the movie was further sabotaged by the awful trailer. I grew up watching the original movies and when it comes to plot and humor the remake is more or less on the same level as the originals. The characters are not flat, the cast did great job, the plot (although predictable) isn't overly boring, despite the fact I was preparing for the worst. Unfortunately, the low score is mostly caused by the viewers' negativity. If this movie wasn't a remake but an original made in the 90s, people would've loved it. It's a solid 7 from me and I'd gladly watch it again.… Expand

Just about every male in the movie was either evil, a jerk, or incompetent or stupid in some way. Literally almost every single one. I didn't really notice at first because I generally enjoyed the movie (except the cringe-worthy ghost fight towards the end) the first couple times I watched it but every viewing since the first it stood out to me more and more. I pretty much just saw this movie because of all the controversy that made me curious and there is honestly not much to say. The humor was not funny, but I don't really care. People really hate when the jokes in a film are not funny, but for me I just don't care. I would criticize humor if it was really offensive or inappropriate, but I don't see anything wrong with the humor in this movie other than it just wasn't funny. I like the all female cast and I think a new idea should have been made for them because like I said I am not a Ghostbusters fan so of course I would be interested in a new concept, instead of having the concept from a female led film inspired by the concept of a male led film which to me is interesting, but I am not sure if it brings much empowerment to women in the film industry as it could. Women can certainly do things that men can, but can also do things that men cannot. Chris Hemsworth was pretty much the dumbest character, but I think that was the point. The special effects were good and the neon colors were cool I guess. The villain had strange dialogue and made a very dull impression in his human form, but I can see that is exactly what they wanted. The plot was not too difficult to watch, but took a long time to take off. In my opinion, Ghostbusters 2016 was just kinda OK. First of all I am not a fan of the original film, but I enjoyed watching them. So I anticipated this film for the updates to deliver what I'm looking for, including some good jokes, but I found it an average film. I am very interested to have the women's version of hit the films and vice versa, but there are not many films in this category. All I wanted was 'The Expendables', but they made this one. I think it was a great idea, though the execution was really impressive.

The story was okay type, they kept it very simple. No big developments, except two main characters. But all the four women were good, along with Chris Hemsworth as a worthy sidekick. The director whose favourite casting actress, Melissa McCarthy's fourth film with him in four years and he did his job well, but the screenplay lets the film down.

There's no major comparison with the original, because this is a reboot and obviously has similar appeal from visual to comedies. Except they talk too much science thing because of todays advanced science. The disappointments are the ghosts, the film did not give preference for them to show their atrocities. I mean the perspective was always from the women gang who fights them. Definitely a one time watchable film, for its decent graphics, performances and some good comedies.

The original films, no matter if you grew up with them, aren´t masterpieces either. A person is supposed to be unbiased while reviewing. And especially, in this day and age, you are supposed to be an educated real MAN who don´t hate on remakes just because of a change of genre. Very sad to see. About the film itself: enjoyable. I was expecting worse. A couple of the feamle characters are really funny and despite it being quite long, the film doesn´t get too tiring. As a precurser, I'd like to say that I'm writing this review from a viewpoint of someone who doesn't really have any attachment to the original films, and who went in not expecting all that much (but who was willing to immerse themselves intoAs a precurser, I'd like to say that I'm writing this review from a viewpoint of someone who doesn't really have any attachment to the original films, and who went in not expecting all that much (but who was willing to immerse themselves into the films world and story).

This movie, is both pretty good, and pretty bad. It had a lot of potential to be a really good movie, but the potential that is set up, is sadly left by the wayside, never to be utilized. The backstory had a fairly good start, and had the potential to give some of the characters some good depth, but isn't touched upon, and is there just for the sake of claiming that the characters have a story. This also only applies to Melissa McCarthy's, & Kristian Wiig's characters, as the backstory is only about them, and doesn't include the other two ghostbusters, of whom are essentially thrown in to have 4 ghostbusters. Kate McKinnon's character has backstory that is summed up in one sentence, and Leslie Jone's character has absolutely no backstory (she is literally just a bystander with a ghostbusters uniform). The actual plot, which brings the characters to the point of becoming ghostbusters, is decent at the beginning, but becomes very stale, as it consists of the same events occuring, the events being dealt with in the same ways, and with the same outcomes. To make this worse, what the plot leads up to, is really about 10-20 minutes of a climax, which isn't solely about dealing with the villain (instead, a decent chunk of that time is spent chasing ghosts that are unimportant to the film, and don't resolve anything). As a result, the final fight between the villain and the busters, is essentially 5 minutes, and is really, really, rushed. This is really quite a shame, as i thought the final battle, and the resolution wasn't bad at all.

The acting that came from the main characters was fine, and seemed to be the best they could give, with what the actresses were given, which wasn't much. The films script consists of a lot of jokes, which to its credit, were not all bad, i found quite a few to be really funny. With this said, the jokes that fall, really fall, to a cringe worthy point, of which is hard to return from. As well, all of the characters are essentially stereotypes (which is really disappointing, as the backstory could've helped flesh out Kristian's, and Melissa's characters, if it were brought up in more detail, and with better execution).

The special effects in this film are just about as barebones as the plot, although i don't mind them for the actual ghosts, and the ghostbuster's equipment (they are hyperbolic with saturation, and are very cartoony). My real grievance with the effects is that they cram in a bunch of small, horrendous effects, most of which are unrelated to the ghosts or the action, and are just put in to justify you paying more for 3D (fortunately, these are for very small portions of time, and don't take away to much from the experience).

Overall, I can see why many people don't like this film, to many, and I mean many, the original film is an absolute masterpiece, and this one is nowhere near such a level. As well, the plot drags, and a lot of potential this film had is absolutely wasted (even I, a 17 year old saw certain scenes, and immediately knew what they did wrong, and what they should have done instead). On the other hand, if you like Paul Feig's humor, are willing to look past the cons that I've stated, and don't have much attachment to the original films, I don't think you'll dislike this film by any means.… Expand

I went into this movie with low expectations and even lower hopes. The Internet said this movie was the worst thing since James Wong's Dragonball Evolution or M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender. The things I'd heard this movie's director, Faul Feig, really didn't help my mindset, either… But if I'm being absolutely, positively honest about the topic, I would have to say that Ghostbusters (2016)… is… not a bad movie at all! In fact, it's a pretty good one!

Alright, so let's get the ugly bits of this review out of the way.
First and foremost, I viewed the movie from a neutral standpoint, not as a fan of the originals.
Secondly, not sure if this movie is particularly "empowering" for women, but I certainly didn't walk away thinking to myself, "This movie would have been better with four dudes."
And finally, this is not "Ghostbusters 3" and it's not trying to be! It's trying to be its own unique take on the franchise properties.

While I said it's trying to be its own thing, there's certainly a few nods and callbacks to the original two movies and even the animated series! But most importantly, nothing in this movie really feels like a blatant rip-off of the previous incarnations, from what I could tell. Just nods and callbacks. Some of the original cast even pops in for some minor cameo roles here-or-there, though thankfully, none of them play their original characters. That would have really ruined things, in my opinion. However, it's not to say that some of these tidbits don't feel a little forced.
Without getting into too many spoilers, it sometimes feels like the movie wants to pay homage to the original movies, but at the same time, doesn't want to get roped into being a rip-off. These two ideals kind of conflict at times -- particularly when the movie ends up re-treading old tropes like the proton energy packs or the Ecto-1. Even some of the main team's personalities or physical appearances seem to hint at the old team at-times. Like I said, it can feel a little forced… but thankfully, it's nothing too horrible.

Speaking of the writing, I think everyone was written pretty well, aside from one minor character and one less-minor one. There were good dynamics between the Ghostbusters in-particular, though less as a whole team and more in-pairs. There's also a bit of character development throughout the movie, though some characters develop a bit further while others kind of stay true to-form… There definitely could have been more development overall… but what was there was reasonably decent.
I'd also like to make special mention of the main villain of the movie. In my opinion, they start off as one of the least-interesting characters… but by the end of the movie, they're definitely my second-favorite character in the whole movie. It was such an unexpected development of character!

Some people have said the special effects are a bit lackluster. In my opinion, CGI is CGI, no matter how it's done… and I really haven't been wowed by CGI since the 90s. It's just become so common-place that it's easy to notice in modern movies. Sometimes, it looks good. Sometimes, not. This movie kinda goes back-and-forth. But I personally think the 80s Ghostbusters movies had better special effects, though, since they were less CGI and more mixed-media.

The audio for the movie was fitting for what was going on, but the soundtrack was a little hit-and-miss for my tastes… I counted about five different renditions of Ray Parker, Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" in the film in a variety of genres or styles... and every time, it felt a little shoehorned-in. I'm also not real keen on some of the music choices for certain moments of the film. But anyway, I've gone on about random stuff for long enough. Let's get to the true opinion piece of this review.

I honestly thought Ghostbusters (2016) was a pretty good movie. The trailers I saw didn't really show off the best parts, oddly enough… and in-context, what looked like stupid scenes were actually pretty good parts of a whole! The marketing team should be fired for the cuts they did for those trailers… it was grossly misleading. It's not to say I thought the movie was perfect, though. There were a couple of scenes which I thought were unnecessary and/or stupid… such as the horrendously asinine way the Ghostbusters save the day. I also thought the movie could do without a couple of characters… at least, at-first. Some grew on me, some didn't. The movie was just full of surprises! Most of them, really good!

I would absolutely love to see a sequel, but only if Paul Feig and Katie Dippold can tighten up their writing a bit. That "key" to saving the day was just… ugh… and it's what cost this movie a 7/10 score from me. It was just… that dumb. Funny, but dumb.

Fun sidenote: The original review I had planned was 7,669 characters long. I had to shorten it. Thanks, Metacritic!… Expand

Y'all, seriously, shut up. I just saw the new ‪Ghostbusters‬ and it's a fun movie.
Yes many of the jokes fall flat.

Or someone is in denial that it was better than it was.
I can't even say Ghostbusters proves what Paul Feig wanted it to. Sorry but I only laughed hard during any Chris Hemsworth secretary scene. Hell, I even can say my 13 year old niece just laughed hard during his scenes. Especially when he showed a picture of the 711 logo saying that should be the Ghostbusters logo, for instance. He was perfectly stupid and that worked at least.
Kristen Wiig is just playing the dopely dry humored character she always plays. She gets slimed many times but none of those scenes are as funny as when Bill Murray got slimed once in the original. Melissa McCarthy is just a brainy version of the feisty character she always plays. Kate McKinnon is trying something different at least rather than just phoning it in. I am not too sure what she was going for but it was kind of entertaining at least. While Leslie Jones is basically just loud.
The original was full of quick sharp dialogue. Paul Feig's Ghostbusters lacks that even. Since a lot of the dialogue is the characters blabbing back and forth with dragged on conversations and jokes. Rather than the cast taking turns with funny one liners like the original cast. These ladies seem to never let up with competing on who's funnier. None of the cameos of the original stars were even too memorable either.
Paul Feig at least showed us Chris Hemsworth is funny since he got all the best lines. Feig didn't write anything too great for the women to say. Yet, they're who the movie was supposed to show off the talents of. As for the CGI, it looked like it was stolen from Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.” I think the villain might have fit in a Scooby Doo movie better as well.
When the villain makes the dude in the painting from Ghostbusters 2 look like a great villain, something is wrong. Spoiler Warning: Bill Murray as a Walter Peck like jerk who doesn't believe in ghosts is who had potential to make a good main villain. Unfortunately there wasn't enough Bill Murray.
The problem with films like Ghostbusters today is that it changes how we're used to characters being for 30 yrs. Sony especially pretty much says a lot "this is how a character is written now, deal with it." Forcing bad ideas on people will always cause controversy.
It doesn't mean anyone who didn't want this movie is sexist. Fans are just mad that it was a bad idea forced on them with even Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy telling off fans who weren't excited about a Ghostbusters reboot. Now even Leslie Jones joined in on it and called those fans disgusting trolls. Talk about clueless.
When Bridesmaids was an original film that proved women are funny, a remake of a classic trying to prove the same thing, wasn't necessary. They should have just made an original supernatural comedy for this cast.… Expand

Ghostbusters is average, at best, and that is not what I want to say when I see a Ghostbusters movie, I want something great. The first two are great, I will stand by that. The first two are great, I will stand by that. There is a reason these films got into geek culture as much as it did. It was down to clever writing, some good comedy and some really cool performances. This film tries to do all that, whilst referencing the original as much as possible, but I feel it backfires. Everyone is trying their hardest but it still doesn’t quite work and the negatives feel like they really out weight the positives. There were some decent comedic performances in the film, the major one being Chris Hemsworth, who finally appears in a comedy where he is actually allowed to be funny. This film would feel a massive disappointment if I hadn’t half written off the film on the trailers alone, but I at least went in giving this film a shot and I can’t act like I am not disappointed on some level. This film doesn’t suck, but it’s not good. It’s not going to make my worst of 2016 list, but I wish this film was better. The ending semi baits for a sequel, and I am fairly certain this will come, but I suspect this film will make a lot of money, especially from the female audience, judging by my screening where the majority of people in the cinema were young to middle age women, however, there needs to be improvement before the next film, though I will say that I think we can get a good film out of this Ghostbusters cast because they can be amusing at times.… Expand

I don't know. I liked it. Ok, I haven't seen the original, so maybe that's why I am not hating that much, but I still liked the movie. Maybe the original would be 10/10? Who knows. Ghostbusters is most controversial and the most talked about movie of the year (right up there with Batman v Superman), it's the most disliked trailer on YouTube and also features maybe the worst marketing I've ever witnessed for a film. Now I'm saying this now, the first 1984 film is one of my all time favorite comedies and films in general, I love the first film and going into this I was really hoping it was going to be a good movie. So what's the result? Is this a good film? Not necessarily. The first half of the film is stronger than the second, it has the worst villain of the year and the constant cameos and references to the old film got really old really fast. But that being said, I was entertained throughout the course of the film. To my surprise, I found myself laughing throughout the course of the film (mostly through Mckinnon, Jones and surprising from a great comedic performance by Hemsworth who's fantastic). I also found that the four Ghostbusters all had a few great individual moments at one point or another and had really good chemistry as well. It's a sloppy film for sure but it's defiantly not one of the worst movies ever made like how some people are making it out to be.… Expand

Ghostbusters is goofy in a good way. The elements of horror were somewhat highlighted in this CGI-stunning reboot of a more comedic classic, which actually made a good contrast of fear and fun. For anyone that wants an honest review; the movie wasn't great, but it also wasn't nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be. The special effects are done very well and there are a good variety of different types of ghosts. As crazy and unrealistic as the movie can be, the plot structure throughout works pretty well. The downfall of the movie are the characters and their dialogue. There are a few characters that had no reason even to be there, other then for comedic relief (Chris Hemsworth). And most of the jokes are just cheesy and unfunny. The only character I somewhat liked and felt was relatable was Erin. So is this movie critically acclaimed? Absolutely not. But is it awful and should be avoided at all costs? Heck no! If you enjoy fun summer block 'busters' then you should at least check this one out.… Expand

Its best noting the nasty track record of hatred for this film that started when the first trailer hit. It definitely wasn't good and this movie isn't much better than that trailer, but deserves less of the unreasonable hatred it has received.
I thought the humor was good, though it definitely needed some tweaking, and the characters, except for Chris Hemsworth's character, are good, but not great. This movie is pretty much going for goofiness, and Chris Hemsworth's character is the epitome of it. It makes me wonder whether he was intentionally developed that way to be mocked. Otherwise, he really is just a stereotype. The conflict, though developed isn't always great and falls short in a few ways.
It's not wrong to say that this movie is entertainment, but I can't say it's great. Therefore, even with some of its best efforts, It won't earn anything more than the seal of mediocrity. And if at any time, there is a golden raspberry award to the most hated movie of the year, this movie takes the cake. Again, not because it's bad, but because it had a bad reputation.… Expand

Met with a ton of controversy, disappointment at the box office, and to top it all off it just isn't a good movie. While not an absolute abomination, there's no doubt this doesn't live up to the classic. That's because Paul Feig shows hereMet with a ton of controversy, disappointment at the box office, and to top it all off it just isn't a good movie. While not an absolute abomination, there's no doubt this doesn't live up to the classic. That's because Paul Feig shows here that he apparently doesn't know how to handle making a comedy without an R rating.

The movie fires off jokes like a comic machinegun. It's clear that Feig and crew are trying to fill every spare second with some kind of gag. Not exactly a bad thing given how bare bones the plot is. The problem? Their aim isn't that great.

Look back at Feig's previous works, particularly with Melissa McCarthy. The man knows vulgar, raunchy humor. That is both his and McCarthy's specialty. As a result they both feel out of place in a more family-friendly comedy. Feig's script is screaming for d*ck jokes and McCarthy is floundering onscreen not being able to deliver them. As a result, they both feel out of place here. You'd expect to see Kristen Wiig in something like this, but not McCarthy.

The movie isn't devoid of laughs though. Every now and then it will hit some clever dialog or an amusing gag that will incite some amusement. It's just that the majority of it's running time the humor is lackluster. Cringe-worthy at it's worst. The perfect example of this comes in the form of Kate McKinnon's performance. Meant to be the crazy, funny member of the team, McKinnon instead just comes off as obnoxious. A fault of the writing and not necessarily the actress.

The actual conflict these new Ghostbusters face doesn't fare much better. It's all just a bunch of ghostly nonsense brought about by one of the weakest villains cinema has seen in many, many years. The (not so) special-effects driven action scenes just kind of there.

It's a mediocre remake. Perhaps it's the misused talent or just bad inception altogether. Regardless of the reasoning, this is a movie that just falls short.

Once you get past the controversy what you’re left with is a pretty mediocre, and rather forgettable, movie that plot wise sticks to close to the original for its own good making for unflattering comparasions. To be fair the special effects are very good but, despite the best efforts of the talented comedic cast, most of the jokes fall flat and the endless cameos and nods to the original just feel awkward.

It’s hard to see people still watching this version in 30 years time.....… Expand

Ghostbusters is an entertaining romp. There are parts that are funny and it does make you laugh sometimes. The problems here are in it's obvious referencing to the original. It took a 30 year old highly original story and changed very little, making the whole thing highly predictable. All the way through they are trying to pay homage but instead of just doing that, they just copied it. And when you do that you have no choice but to be compared and if you do compare, you are going to lose. Ghostbusters was a classic that everyone loved, so for a reboot, you have to change it, make it a film it's own right, not just rehash a classic.
Overall an ok way to spend a couple of hours, but they certainly won't be talking about this film in 30 years time. It's not a zero as some over zealous scorers have decided to give it but it is certainly not a 10 as the original was.… Expand

If anything I feel this movie has been overly judged by a majority of people online. My initial impression of the trailer left me with little desire to watch it on the big screen. I had intended to wait till it was on sale on bluray. However,If anything I feel this movie has been overly judged by a majority of people online. My initial impression of the trailer left me with little desire to watch it on the big screen. I had intended to wait till it was on sale on bluray. However, the tremendous negative backlash was so overwhelming that curiosity compelled me to go see it.

My thoughts: *meh*

The movie is nowhere near the disaster that many claimed it was. However, it is also deeply flawed not even coming close to the original.

What I thought worked was the new ghostbuster team. The four ladies work well together with believable characters and some good dialogue (only some.) The action sequences were well presented and the effect were pretty good, most of the time. Chris Hemsworth's character really was quite funny and something all its own.

And yet, he is perhaps too stupid. Cartoon level stupid. While the cameos of the original cast was momentarily nice, they were very forced and ultimately redundant. In fact I believe the movie would have been better without them. The main characters, while good together, do not seem like scientists. They come across more like school teachers. McKinnon seemed interesting, yet perhaps is a bit too over the top for the movie (reminded me of Lori Petty in Tank Girl.) Movie lacks a real plot and backstory. What little there is, is mostly irrelevant to the movie.

Overall:
Ghostbusters 2016 biggest flaws are all the unnecessary throwbacks to the previous movies. What it does right is when it does something its own. It feels like the developers might of started out with a great idea, but lacked confidence to let it hold on its own, so the slapped in as many Ghostbusters 1 & 2 references as they could and forced as many unnecessary cameos as possible. The irony is it is all the old stuff that ultimately draw this movie down. So what we're left with is really just a below average Ghostbusters movie, but with some good slightingly redeeming moments here and there.… Expand

I don't know if it's a case of too much improv, not enough writing, or a sheer lack of foresight but this movie just isn't very funny. That would be fine if it weren't trying SO HARD to be funny but falling flat much more often than getting laughs. It's like Paul Feig forgot how to make comedies or something. Even putting aside the "Ghostbusters" license, this simply isn't a very good movie. The third act turns into an action and CGI-fest, which wouldn't be so terrible if everything that proceeded it wasn't bland and seemingly aimless. The only character who has any semblance of an arc is Kristen Wiig's. Attempts at fan-service such as including familiar ghosts come too little, too late, as do the celebrity cameos. The whole thing is uninspired. I wish I could say I was very disappointed but pretty much from the first trailer we knew what we were in for. Sorry, Sony. Try again on the "reboot-a-franchise-roulette".… Expand

This is a reboot desperate to stand on its own two feet without actually making any attempt to truly progress the franchise. It does a lot of things; some good, some bad, most outright bizarre, and in the end is completely forgettable.

You all know how I feel about pointless remakes and Ghostbusters was in no need of a remake but we got one anyway. I fully expected to hate this movie but I certainly didn’t. Despite the decent although predictable storyline and a hideously annoying performance from Chris Hemsworth there are more than enough laughs to keep you interested, but more importantly you have solid chemistry between the main characters. They are the selling point for this movie, each bringing their own and carrying the story which unfortunately does start to fall apart towards the end, but I’ll overlook that. You’ll laugh and you’ll enjoy it, recommended.… Expand

Now that the film has been released, the army of fans ready to burn down their local multiplex, stood up and gave the film a resounding "MEH", yep that's probably the best word to describe this film, it is the literal definition of average, it does do some new stuff which is the strongest part of the film, when they try to do something original, but than it puts all of it's weight on the crutch of the original two, and needs to use constant and pointless references and call backs to the original, which couldn't get one single laugh out of anyone… Expand

The opening is a bit of a cliché and failed to impress but the movie started to make up for its opening through some okay character introduction and a good back story to support the main characters. The four characters were good and are probably what make this film worth watching from beginning to end. Even though the characters were good Kate McKinnon’s character was slightly under used and could have been one of the biggest highlights of the film. The rest of the characters are good enough at keeping up and even though some of them seemed like they weren’t very important at the beginning they worked themselves in well enough. But what lets it down are the cringe worthy jokes, alongside that the soundtrack was just terrible and left me waiting for it to end. The story is okay enough and so are the characters but this film doesn’t seem good enough for me to recommend it to anyone. Even though it could have done better, it was an okay entry but I don’t think that there will be a sequel worth watching soon, but I might be wrong and only the future knows.… Expand

This movie doesn't know whether it wants be a reboot or a sequel (which is, deplorably, the case with many of recent franchise reboots, however this Ghostbusters shows it as flagrantly as ever), resultShould've stuck with a just a sequel. This movie doesn't know whether it wants be a reboot or a sequel (which is, deplorably, the case with many of recent franchise reboots, however this Ghostbusters shows it as flagrantly as ever), result being it sucks as both. Absolutely no reason to make cameos appear as random individuals (other than Ramis' death, apparently) in a story which never ended badly. I mean, the 1989 movie ends with all four Ghostbusters being alive and well, and Barrett getting back together with Venkmann. Heck, they even have a one-year-old daughter back then. What was the point of introducing new, COMPLETELY UNRELATED characters if, for instance, Abby Yates could've indeed been this child 27 years later (I mean, the character's age does come close, doesn't it?). Instead, we're treated with silly cameos and subtle (not really) nods to the original. Not enough to be a reboot (the story's different anyway, and the way they come to be is totally ridiculous as compared to the original), not enough to be a sequel. Two birds with one stone... got neither.
My 5 out of 10 score goes for decent CGI effects, cool atmosphere and nice accompanying soundtrack. Wish it could've been more. Hopefully, we won't see a sequel to that no matter how fun it would be to bring Zuul back. Please don't.… Expand

Wiig and McCarthy have proven their talent in all-female-led films such as the brilliant Bridesmaids, though McKinnon is a weaker link (never understood her appeal as a comedian). The fact that women were the stars of this film is NOT a problem. This movie was just boring, unoriginal, uninspired, and lacking in any kind of innovation. It had a few funny moments, but all the call-outs to the first film were distractions - made me want to watch that vastly superior film. This one simply lacked charm. Even the Ghostbusting equipment was ordinary - bland. There was such an opportunity there to make that stuff highly original, evolved - unique. Just a massive missed opportunity that really had nothing to do with gender.… Expand

It's ironic that the all-female quartet of today's hottest comic talents was outshined by the only major male in the cast (a delightfully ditzy Chris Hemsworth). Some of this isn't their fault: the script offers nothing new and seldom supplies any amusing situations or clever punch lines. The action scenes are flat and the ghost efx are a yawn. Director Paul Fieg has kept the energy up, so even when it's dumb, it's never dull. NOTE: There are some fun bits DURING the closing credits and one final gag AFTER them.… Expand

It is a poor use of the franchise licence, as it had incredible potential to be a real blockbuster, but I cant mark this film down because of that.

This is a SNL parody of ghostbusters. Exactly what many thought it would be. Add on top of that the insult of a pandering cash grab and this movie is just good.

It wasn't terrible. It wasn't good. The best jokes are one-liners, most of which come from Kate McKinnon. The Ghostbusters 2016 reboot has potential, but it was poorly executed in every way. Overall, it is a decent movie. And this is disappointing.

Even though there are positive things from it, there are more negative things than good things.
First of all, the story is bad. Act 1 is bad, and Act 2 only builds up Act 3, and the final fight is disappointing. The girls finish the bad guy shooting at his dick.
The jokes are not so bad, in fact, some of them made me actually laugh. But slapstick comedy doesn't fit Ghostbusters. Do you remember the jokes from the original movie? They were better.
The acting is incredibly good, and some of the girls are good characters. Holtzman was my favorite character. But, of course, Melissa McCarthy didn't have a good acting in this movie. But, from all the actors, Chris Hemsworth was outstanding, he is a great actor, like everyone know.
The OST is bad. It is literally bad. Hell, the trailer's remix music was so much better than the entire movie OST.
The CGI may be like the live-action "Scooby-Doo" film, but it somehow fits with the movie. I was smiling when Slimer appeared on the screen, even though I was disappointed with the movie.
Overall, I give this movie a 4.2 out of 10. It is a decent movie, that I won't watch again and won't buy it on DVD or Blu-Ray, even if it is on sale. I was willing to give this movie a chance and I was thinking it would actually be better than Ghostbusters 2, but I have to say Ghostbusters 2 is better.
This reboot is made for the new generation of kids, and it has some easter eggs from the original movies just to keep the old fans happy.

It gave me a few chuckles (the mayor and his assistant were my favorite characters), but besides that it was all throw-away plotting. Felt like a continuation of R.I.P.D.

The leads all played their characters decently, but there was no worthwhile plotting to flesh those characters out. Every scene boils down to an SNL skit...but with Ghostbusters.

Neil Casey (the bad guy), Zach Woods, and Karan Soni needed more screen time. Not only does Casey look like a new-age Egon, but the other two had funny personalities as well.

Anyway, I feel this was a missed opportunity to tell a more inclusive Ghostbusters movie. Instead we got ghost-infused SNL skits and a long final act that's more occupied trying to sell toys and push an agenda, than finish the story strong.… Expand

Is this movie the worst movie in the world? No. Not even close. However, the new Ghostbusters' weak script, poor pacing, and generally uninteresting characters cause the movie to suffer as a whole, resulting in a movie that was hard to sit through.

If you grew up on Ghostbusters and watched it as a kid, it's a tough pill to swallow when the 80s aesthetic and movie style aren't there.

I've never been a big fan of Melissa McCarthy, so I came into the theatre prepared to hate her character. Weirdly enough, she wasn't as obnoxious as I expected. My problem with it was that her characteristics were identical to Kristen Wiig's character, as they are given nearly nothing particularly notable. The only difference from one to another is her obsession with getting her order of Chinese food correct, which is one of the funnier diatribes she goes on.

There isn't much to say about Kristen Wiig. She's the main character. One of her character traits is having the hots for Chris Hemmsworth's body, and was probably one of the worst parts of the movie. Beyond that, nothing special to mention.

Leslie Jones received a lot of flak prior to this movie for her character being racist, but I have not seen her play a role other than a sassy black woman. Unless her family has been kidnapped by the producers of Saturday Night Live and threaten to kill them unless she plays this role, this was her choice to do it. Despite her 'street-smart' character, she doesn't feel any more or less intelligent than the other leads.

My least favourite aspect of this movie was Kate McKinnon's role as an eccentric scientist and inventor. A lot of her lines could've easily been cut out, and the movie may have been better without it.

She doesn't feel like a human, but a caricature of what someone would think a woman engineer is (a notably male profession, therefore all females who take that profession must be weird... or so says the stereotype). It may have been that she was given a character that's hard to portray, because a lot of the lines she says feel very fake. The script says, "say something wacky", and that's what she did. Nothing more. I don't know who's the blame for this, but it was not a good choice.

Dan Aykroyd's cameo fell a little flat. Not to include any spoilers, but he plays a cabbie who, when one character asks if they can take her in his cab, he rejects and says, "I ain't afraid of no ghosts." It's nice to have the odd cameo in these movies; Marvel finds a way to shoehorn Stan Lee in their movies somewhat, but this feels like it's spliced in with an excavator. Mind you, Bill Murray's and Ernie Hudson's cameo were acceptable and appreciated, and felt like they fit in the movie.

One thing many people think this movie has is a pro-feminist agenda, but I don't think that's it entirely. I think it's an anti-entitled Internet user agenda they are supporting, and it's rationalized by how much hate the movie received from the Internet. The main villain is a weird, socially awkward, sociopath who would rather destroy the whole world than just deal with it. They have a small discussion about not reading Youtube comments (and then try to reply to hateful comments, but others tell them not to). One of the lines they have against Bill Murray's disbelieving character is, "it's easy for you to say that while you're comfortably sitting there!" (apologies if that's not 100% correct).

I believe this film is an anti-Internet Troll movie, and because the stereotypical Internet troll is assumed to be male, it can be seen that this is supporting a feminist agenda. I could easily be wrong about this, because it's just a theory and I don't have any concrete evidence supporting it.

TL;DR, if you're planning on watching it, don't let the hatred discourage you, but don't go into it expecting an excellent reboot to a classic from an age long passed. It's okay.… Expand

I really don't get it for all the controversy behind the film all the name-calling, the flame wars, and animosity on both sides of the "Social Justice" issue, this film is just plain mediocre. This isn't the worst remake I have ever seen or didn't anger me like Batman V Superman, but it was just a movie that didn't do much with itself or benefit the license it comes from at all. Sadly, the film's greatest stumbling block is the poorly written script, pointless cameos from original Ghostbuster cast, a really just awful and boring villain, and the fact it is trying to ape the success and nostalgia of the original movie. All female leads you feel do their best with this movie but a good deal of their performances seem stunted by weak material. Most of the males in the movie are either dumb, unhelpful or are just outright jerks. The special effects are a hit and miss with the CG not looking good in the slower parts of the film and actually being entertaining when the faster paced action was happening. I think the biggest offense that this film makes that it expects a sequel to come out of this movie and turn the original Ghostbusters" story into a trilogy of film, nice try Sony but you have yet another mediocre film under you belt. Better luck next time… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First half of this film, You would think that it had some initial promise that this would feel like the Ghostbusters movie we wanted.......

...Then it goes downhill afterwards.

From Paul Feig's and Kate Dippold's View of men (cause we are all **** Scary cats, bad guys or something of no redeeming quality in this movie); and by doing this and making the script this way it makes any exploits this new team does useless. To Leslie Jones Stereotypical approach (I swear in one scene she had a belt on saying, "Oh no you didn't!!) to some degree she wasn't as bad as most people say but she was still the Tracy Morgan of the team. Melissa McCarthy and Kristin Wiig were technically playing the same version of themselves and the jokes were Hit and miss at best!

The science and technology was explored in the movie and i thought that was cool I like how they tested and used them. But then I can also say they go back on what they were suppose to do with the ghost and just Vaporized them instead of trapping them......they do that only once!! :-/
Chris Hemsworth's Kevin had his moments but the run on gag became to tedious the same with the Chinese take out man. And while i've felt the chemistry was really good with the four female leads the villain of this movie on the other hand was very forgettable and didn't add any backstory aside from the lame backstory you get in the movie (which kinda was like that in Bridesmaids....person picked on person in the past and wanted to get even)....did i mention that they treated most of the men on here like ****

The stakes wasn't high and everything they went thru in the third act had no meaning since midtown was completely refixed after the portal closed cause.....reasons!?
At least in the 1984 version the Stakes were high as well as personal being that the original four were put through stuff by the mayor, EPA, Gozer, Zuul, etc.
in the end, i can only say this movie had one half good moments the first half on the movie...and the second and third half just went to hell big time...this movie just....is. Its not bad....sure as hell not great its just....was made just to fill a quota for money and make a political Agenda.

now that i seen it and its out of my system I want to focus on other movies like Star Trek Beyond and Suicide Squad which i'm sure will be much better films to take the tastes of this movie out my mouth!!… Expand

The villain was dull, the comedy was subpar, the action was clunky and the cameos were desperate. To include every piece of already established memorabilia and inside-joke, they forced situations and didn't care to explain - making me constantly look at my wife with a "HUH!?" face and to my surprise she was wearing the same look each and every time (she is a die hard Ghostbusters fan). We left bummed and with a bad taste after starting with such hope and excitement. It was hard not to love Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, but they found a way.… Expand
