This is another alphabet girl promoting girl on girl action in 1994. And No , this kind of stuff was not going on in 1994. Too bad the writing and script wasn’t written by a real story teller . And where are the parents or police law enforcement in this movie. Characters can cause car accidents by throwing things out a moving bus and not be arrested or the bus driver tell the police what happened. Plain ridiculous Expand

This is not a slasher movie. This is a love story about a lesbian couple and their hardships masked by horror genre. Boring. Between all 3 this sits in the middle

Read the books as a teenager. Why they had to bring in the “gay” agenda is beyond me. Awful adaptation of a good book. Don’t let your teenagers watch this crap. Utterly awful and disgusting. BOO NETFLIX

A weak homage to 90's slashers, Fear Street suffers similar pitfalls as other unremarkable, wannabe Scream clones.

The director seems incapable of crafting any atmosphere and relies heavily on non-stop generic 90's hits for nostalgia. It feels like you're watching someone constantly skip through a Spotify playlist.

The whole film reeks of a half-assed Hollywood cash grab, like most modern films of late. The characters are bland, the acting is subpar, the kills and jump scares feel hollow and devoid of any real impact. I was looking forward to this film, but it sadly left me very disappointed

Well the majority of the soundtrack came AFTER 1994 and AOL chat didnt exist before 1997, so it's hard to immerse myself in the movie.
Also, I dont remember there being that much neon in the 90s.
Overall still enjoyable

The idea of the film is good, but the film itself is spoiled by toxic LGBT propaganda + outright gay pedophilia

Don't let your kids watch this it's critical race theory packaged in a horror cheap monster horrible script. The new troupes kill the white man. White man bad. By the way colonials had soap and water I love how leftist invert history.

Well, Netflix and current culture have seemingly run dry mining 80s nostalgia and have now moved to wring the 90s dry.

This tries way too hard to be like Scream its sad. Whats worse is the characters are all either unlikable or unrealistic.
Well, Netflix and current culture have seemingly run dry mining 80s nostalgia and have now moved to wring the 90s dry.

This tries way too hard to be like Scream its sad.

Whats worse is the characters are all either unlikable or unrealistic. Then there are the relationships, of which only one is realistic and its a total solo act. I will say while the soundrack is loaded with 90s hits, the biggest problem with it is that almost all of the tracks featured were not released until AFTER 1994.

Which gets onto the real point. This movie is like someone trying to pay homage to the period who didnt actually live through it. Its just bland haphazard references chucked into a blender. With a shoehorned lesbian romance that is 94% just writing a female into the position of a traditional male role. Its both pandering and insulting at the same time.

The plot is boring but the writing and dialogue is worse. Its so bad that it makes me not only cringe at this film but it genuinely causes fear to realize they are going to do even worse when trying to emulate a much worse period in history of the 1970s with the next installment of this lame trilogy.

THIS is the garbage that you use to netflix and chill.

Also please PLEASE relax with the licensed music, the first high school scene alone must have 5 songs in the space of a minute, we get it you liked guardians of the galaxy but that’s not what made that a good film.

ItI was excited about seeing a horror movie based on a book series that was a childhood staple of mine and I was even more excited when I heard that it featured a sapphic romance- unfortunately this movie was nothing but disappointments. It broke it's own story rules, the characters were unlikable and boring, the acting was subpar, and I didn't buy the romance at all (which is disappointing given how excited I was about queer rep in horror). The movie had a lot of potential that it was too lazy to reach and it didn't even manage to cash in on the nostalgia points that it could have had. I genuinely hope the other 2 parts are better but I really don't have much faith- the only thing that leaves me interested in the sequels is my desire to see if they're just as bad as part 1. Expand

Zero build up or suspense, scenes constantly skip ahead with ADHD pacing and zero scene building. Characters TELL the viewer the plot via exposition dumps. Features lots of great music from the 90s, but music supervisor seems to have zero context/understanding or appreciation of this era. Songs skip ahead from one to another, don’t play out fully and don’t match up to what is happening on screen. They rarely play for longer than the chorus. Seriously, fire their music department. Imagine an alien watched “Scream” and “MTV Cribs” for the first time and was then told to make a “film” with a TV budget. Expand

10 out of 10! well until they introduce the main cast.

The main characters can only be described as a cast of glee rejects. When they are not ruining a good story line with over the top drama or long bouts of morose whining; they start developing narcist traits and complete lack of human emotion and empathy for anything happening around them.

ie: They just saw a bunch of people slashed/killed, all the baddies have woken up and are out to get them now; soooo what do you do? Welp; time for a over-done forced "sexual scene" for no reason. Just made the already hollow characters seem completely unbelievable.

Really too bad; the underlying story was quiet good; ruined by forced messages and horrible positions they put the cast in.

Watch for foundation story and some funny/corny 90's nostalgia (jan sport backpacks, aol, 90's soundtrack). Try to ignore the forced messages in story and over the top soap opera drama.

2nd story is far better; 3rd goes back to awful forced messaging and cast.

side note; Josh/Benjamin Christopher Flores Jr. and Sadie Elizabeth Sink knocked it out of the park and where the powerhouse cast that made the films bearable.

Where to begin? This movie could have been good if you remove the main character, cringey script, and forced cliche high-school scenes. It was so bad I wish I could take back the hour and 45 mins I wasted watching this movie.

It's an attempt to mix the feel and aesthetics of Stranger Things with Slasher horror and it does have that Netflix production gloss to it, but like many other Netflix originals it has poor writing, poor dialogue, lackluster cinematography, and annoying or forgettable characters. I feel like those aspects of film making have been put on the back burner to make room for shoehorning in every cultural / social issue into every movie Hollywood and Netflix make nowadays. Honestly though, I wouldn't care so much about that if the movie was actually good! I couldn't wait for this movie to be over and I lost track of how many eye rolls I preformed while I waited. If you're a teenager or a woke millennial or you like everything Netflix puts out than you'll probably enjoy this. If your expecting "Scream" or "I Know What You Did Last Summer" levels of quality, or you like your horror movies to be a bit more gritty, well written, or actually scary, then unfortunately this will probably disappoint.
