I'm speechless...
The entire movie is a rollercoaster of emotions, I saw things I never expected to see and I enjoyed every moment. The first half of the movie can be quite confusing but hang in there, the last 40 minutes are absolutely masterful.

This is not the movie I wanted, but it was the movie I needed. It's flawed, goofy and illogical at times, but it works, it's fresh, unique, and I was a bit skeptical at the beginning, but then I got hooked as the movie started to develop.
IThis is not the movie I wanted, but it was the movie I needed. It's flawed, goofy and illogical at times, but it works, it's fresh, unique, and I was a bit skeptical at the beginning, but then I got hooked as the movie started to develop.
I felt connected to the main character (Evelyn) struggles because at it's core, the movie is not supposed to be a hero's story, but a personal, intimate and complex story about everyday life, it's about family, choices, sacrifice, resentment and how the same situation can be perceived as something awful someone might want to escape while others might dream about it.
The whole multiverse idea, the fighting, the verse jumps can be inconsistent and even ridiculous but as soon as you accept it, it becomes entertaining and everything starts to connect as you start seeing the metaphors and the character's progression.
The acting of Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan are both phenomenal and well deserving of the Oscars they won, they really immerse themselves in the characters and personify to perfection the essence of the movie.
The camera work is creative and I caught myself complementing it a few times while watching, some might say it breaks the immersion, but I find it interesting and entertaining.
Colors look good and they match the tone of each scene.
Overall, it's a great movie and I'm glad they won the Best Picture Oscar because it actually made me feel everything everywhere all at once.… Expand

The film was produced by A24, a company with tremendous momentum, which also produced The Whale and Aftersun in the same year. He released this film at a time when he had a lot of momentum, but it was not expected at first.

Although Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, and other somewhat familiar actors were in the film, supporting actor Kee Hui Quan had not had a prominent role since The Goonies, and the rest were new actors. However, the performances by the cast were excellent, and in total, the film received four Oscar nominations, three of which were won.

At the beginning of the film, Michelle Yeoh runs a dry-cleaning business and is a realistic protagonist with a gay daughter, a difficult dry-cleaning business, a noisy father, and an unreliable husband. Later, her husband arrives from another world claiming a crisis in the multiverse, and she is quickly pulled away from reality, but in the end, she settles for a realistic ending. It is easy to explain why this film is so beloved. It offers unrealistic, exciting fun and settles on a simple theme of family love. The characters are all flawed but lovable, and after watching the film, you love the film itself. The film is also rated R, which means it is suitable for adults. It is a good opportunity for adults to rethink the idea of family love.

There are glimpses of Daniels' humor in the film. He does ''funny things'' when he moves to another multiverse. Eating lip balm, saying I really love you... these are all apparently Daniels' ideas. It was a bizarre and funny film that was nominated for 11 Oscars and won 7, but I don't know if it was the right one. I don't know if I got it right, because my favorite film, The Fablemans, was nominated for 7 categories but didn't win any of them.… Expand

Saw this a week before the awards, and it's the first film I've every clapped at the end. Such an amazing, moving and tremendously important movie.

With such an diverse Asian cast, and heavily in native language, it gives me hope that the cinema watching world may have grown up as this would've never been made 20 years ago purely for that cast. Everyone was amazing, every scene perfect sculpted and the mix of comedy/action/family was perfectly balanced.

The sound design was astounding and sudden, with perfect precision for comedic timing and suspenseful timing. The humour was excellent, with a wide range of modern humour, old people humour and even dirty humour, though whenever a joke was made which I wasn't interested in, it was something so 'on the side' as an extra that it gave no detriment to the scene. The cinematography was the best of its kind, including sudden dramatic shot changes with beautiful transitions. I have never seen better camera work or cinematography in my entire life. The acting was incredible, with the perfect cast of emotional characters which you could really feel for. At no point was it at obvious it was a production. Even the subtitles were warping with the camera effects! The set design was soo good and really did a good job at holding the scenes. The fighting sequences were unmatched with perfect timing and consistency. I love action sequences of that sort in movies, and these were the most incredible fight sequences I have ever seen. Absolutely astounding. The greatest work in any film I have ever seen, and is my new personal favourite movie of all time.… Expand

I heard good reviews about this. And usually when reviews that are this good, it is bound to be overhyped. But I gave it a try anyhow to see if it lives up to the hype. Not going to lie, it started off kind of messy, and I had a hard time following the story switching between the english and chinese language. The scenes in the first half of the movie appeared incoherent and it was hard to understand what was going on. But then I discovered that this incoherence was consistent, like some mathematical constant and came to realization that maybe I should not approach this movie with logic and I should not try so hard to understand it, but rather let the movie take you in for the ride and get into it for the sensation of it all and see where it goes. And oh my, how it delivered. I wasn't expecting such an epic emotional rollercoaster experience, even with all the crazy over the top things happening on screen, it blended very well together. It literally included everything, everywhere, all at once that you ever wanted in a movie. This was a masterpiece of a movie. Instant timeless classic, and topics touched upon that are very relevant for our times. This also shows you that representation matters! It gives us a whole range of new and interesting perspective and content we never knew we wanted! My compliments for the script writers and producers for giving us this gem of a movie and it certainly lived up to the hype and more!… Expand

When I first watched Everything Everywhere All at Once, I thought it was one of the best movies I've ever seen. But after rewatching it after some time, I am convinced that it is the best form of any storytelling I have ever come across.When I first watched Everything Everywhere All at Once, I thought it was one of the best movies I've ever seen. But after rewatching it after some time, I am convinced that it is the best form of any storytelling I have ever come across. Granted, I haven't watched, read or played every movie/show/play, book or game ever created in the many languages that exist. But of the significant portion of my life I have spent experiencing stories and my subjective & biased parameters for what an exceptional form of storytelling should ideally be based on, I am certain that this movie is the best I've come across yet.

Why do I think that?

Because it combines the most investigated philosophical question of the purpose of life, the most complex metaphysical theory of multiverses and the most consistently prevalent emotions of hope & despair, all together, in 150 minutes that span almost every storytelling genre there is.

And it does this with a series of truly extraordinary & powerful acting performances, elegantly simple yet extremely compelling dialogues, absurdist yet coherent editing & transitions and one of the most narratively complementary cinematography ever.

Furthermore, the exceptionally intelligent use of various styles of humour, balanced with a metaphorical yet deeply compassionate use of relationships, to construct a narrative that - though may appear comically-absurd & entertaining on a casual first-watch - is actually so much more; being consistently deliberate, methodical & profound on a second viewing.

All this coalesces into a unique emotional journey - with an abundance of excellent humour - that inevitably transitions to a rollercoaster ride of hope crescendos & despair diminuendos, while offering convincing justifications for these ebbs and flows, concluding in an extremely cathartic & appropriate ending.

Everything Everywhere All at Once - as the title suggests - is truly a story about everything, everywhere, told all at once. It's the most conclusive story of existence. And as cliched and inaccurate its ultimate moral may seem, it ingeniously conveys it in the single most hopeful & captivating manner possible.

And that's why it is the best form of any storytelling I have ever come across.… Expand

Llega a ser increíble todos los detalles en todos los aspectos de esta película sin dejar absolutamente nada al azar, y si bien a veces es fácil no comprender lo que está pasando debido al sin fin de cosas que pasan de manera continúa, nunca cae en la monotonía ni en el aburrimiento. Furthermore, while the comedy comes rapid-fire at points and lands almost every time, the film takes its time for slower, more introspective scenes that leave one wondering about how their multiversal selves are and how we can make the most of this life we have here, even if it may not be as impressive as we hoped. I have never seen a movie like this. It is filled to the brim with ideas some being absolute crazy in the positive way, has great humor, a near perfect cast and fights that made the older Jackie Chan movies jealous. A wild and crazy ride that was more enjoyable than almost any other movie I have seen in years. The story starts with the worst day Chinese immigrant Evelyn Wang could imagine. Her laundromat business she had with her husband is investigated by the internal revenue service (IRS), her husband wants a divorce, her lesbian daughter wants her family to accept her white girlfriend while her estranged and traditional father just arrived while they prepare for the new year celebration. Things take a sudden change when in the elevator of the IRS building her husband completely changes personality. He says a multiverse exists and he is from a different universe / reality. The whole multiverse is in danger and Evelyn is their hope to stop the catastrophe. I stop here to avoid spoilers. The story is amazingly well written. It has so many ideas, craziness, humor and highlights. No movie I remember in recent years could compete. We think drugs were involved for a lot of ideas but everything works excellent which is the prove for the quality of writing. Think about it. If done poorly this would be a laughing stock of a story and movie. So I have to praise all writers, directors, producers and the whole team behind the camera. The actors were equally amazing and I think it is a close to a perfect cast as it could be. Michelle Yeoh is Oscar worthy and I am deeply impressed by her performance. Stephanie Hsu, Kee Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, James Hong and Tallie Medel are all excellent and improve the movie. Then there is the humor. I laughed a lot and cant remember the last movie that was as great for the humor. The fight scenes are amazing and some put Jackie Chan to shame. Lastly I must praise the sets, costumes and CGI. They nailed the movies atmosphere and style with those. Overall this is a masterpieces and truly unique. It was so good that future movies will be rated against this for me. A strong and worthy 10/10.… Expand

Despite being a 'comedy', it manages to earnestly capture more than just 'funny' emotions. It captures suffocating mundanity, and nihilism at a multiverse, and makes you smile in the face of it.

The action scenes are playful and imaginative.

This is a pretty frantic, colourful, somewhat madcap film, with some scenes featuring almost Matrix style choreography and the plot and pacing making me think of something like a constant neon coloured pinball machine, with the ball pingingThis is a pretty frantic, colourful, somewhat madcap film, with some scenes featuring almost Matrix style choreography and the plot and pacing making me think of something like a constant neon coloured pinball machine, with the ball pinging about from one corner to the next. I liked that its set in such a domestic, dare I say particularly boring setting as an IRS office. The visual effects are great - I liked the cartoon strip feel to some effects in particular (I won't elaborate so as not to provide potential spoilers). I found it difficult to follow all the plot details but I certainly wouldn't say that affected my enjoyment of the film overall. Watching the fast paced fight scenes reminded me a little of kung fu or samurai films of the 1970s. At times Chinese songs are played in the background and it was nice to see the various family members speaking in their (I assume) mother tongue. As over the top as it undoubtedly is for the most part, there is a point in which things slow down significantly - that is somewhat poignant. I should perhaps note that a fair amount of the dialogue is in either Mandarin or Cantonese, hence subtitles are often present, which may or may not put you off it. Its a very engrossing and yet also somewhat baffling film, with a quirky, arty feel to it to an extent but enough mainstream CGI to entertain the audience well, I reckon. It's definitely a film to re-watch, as I was left thinking 'what did I just see?' by the end.

Needless to say, I would definitely recommend this film, yes.… Expand

When the movie ended, I still didn’t really know what it was but I was sure of one thing, it was amazing. The more I think about it, the more I realize that this film has no real flaw. The action scenes are very beautiful and we feel all the love of the directors for the films of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. The editing is very fluid and pleasant. The film is well rhythmic, you never get bored. The writing is as touching as it is funny. This film is really impressive, it surprises us every second. You never really know what you’re watching, you alternate between sf and family drama. This film is really a new breath in the current film industry, an author’s blockbuster that never suffers from its low budget and that could become for the next generation of filmmakers a revolutionary film as was the first Matrix (whose film is inspired ) by its positivity, its universal message, and its cinematic qualities.… Expand

Oh yeah, this had almost everything I wanted in a movie. So many genres mixed into one - comedy, action, drama, sci-fi, thriller, what else? The film is chaotic, disorienting, innovative, thought-provoking, undisciplined and profoundly moving. It’s impossible to summarize briefly. But “Everything …” is also the best reason to venture out to a movie theater since the pandemic began over two years ago.

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert – the Daniels - who co-wrote and co-directed this film, are veterans of several movie shorts and music videos. Their previous feature film, 2016’s “Swiss Army Man,” is summarized by IMDb as follows: “A hopeless man stranded on a desert island befriends a dead body, and together they go on a surreal journey to get home.” In “Everything …” they graduate from mundane topics like human mortality to tackle the multiverse.

The idea of the multiverse posits that there are an infinite number of universes – “alternate universes” or “parallel universes” – where the consequences of all the choices we make or don’t make are played out to their logical conclusions. It’s an idea that has been endorsed by Stephen Hawking and Neil deGrasse Tyson. But philosophically, it’s a pretty depressing brand of nihilism: how can life have meaning if none of our choices really matter?

The Daniels use the multiverse for two purposes. First, when characters jump from one alternate universe to another, the moviegoer can explore the alternate life stories of the primarily characters, particularly Evelyn (a spectacular Michelle Yeoh - 2000’s “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”) who is an unhappily married, dissatisfied co-owner of a laundromat whose main achievement has been disappointing her father. But in alternate universes where she has made different choices, Evelyn is, variously, a famous singer, a star of martial arts films, a sign-twirler on the street, a resident of a universe where everyone has hotdogs instead of fingers and, most poignantly, one of two sentient rocks on an uninhabitable planet (the most touching scenes in the film). Evelyn bounces from one universe to another to help her struggling daughter Joy (yes, I do see the irony) who, as many parents would predict, is both a confused young adult and also Jobu Tupaki, an arch-villain bent on destroying the multiverse. In one scene, Joy/Jobu confides that she has used her superpowers to place all the important things in the world in a bagel (you got it: an “everything bagel”).

The Daniels also use alternate universes to explore core concepts around family dynamics: the paralytic effect of parental disapproval; the notion that a family member’s quiet inaction sometimes represents kindness and strength, not passivity; and finally the strong suggestion that parental love is the most powerful force in the universe. At the end of the day, this weirdly wonderful film shares a powerful theme with the Bible, the Torah, the Koran and almost any good Kurt Vonnegut novel: in a confusing, scary, sometimes brutal universe, we’d all be better off if we all treated one another with a little more kindness.… Expand

Never have I seen a film this original since the beginning of the pandemic. It is an artistic and comedic message of the teenage and parent burgeon in life that the film throws in too much simultaneously in attempt for you to know what is going on.

Probably... but probably not... but mostly likely both at the same time? Probably. And No! This is not a "postmodern" film that proclaims "nothing matters", as some fools on here are convinced. First of all, "postmodernism" is not the same thing as "nihilism". Second of all, this is *not* a film about how "nothing matters", this is a film about how *everything* matters. Every choice, every relationship, every cream cheese bagel!!! Do some of the actors in this movie need to lose some weight? Yes. Are there lesbians included in this package? Yes. Do I give a **** No. Is watching this movie the first time I've had a psychedelic experience and contemplated our metaphysical reality and how consciousness relates to it? A qualidade da direção, atuações, figurino e montagem são assustadoras. Mas o roteiro... ah, o roteiro! Que espetacular! A cena das pedras é de uma genialidade absurda.

Eu prometo não assistir mais o Oscar, caso esse filme não seja indicado em, no mínimo, três categorias de sua próxima edição. Principalmente Melhor Direção, Roteiro e Atriz.

Está certo! Não posso dizer que ele é perfeito. A cena final, por mais que incrivelmente impactante, é um pouco excessiva. Eu pensei por duas vezes que seria perfeito se acabasse por ali, mas ainda faltavam longos minutos.

Mas, se tem uma mensagem que o filme passa entre tantas, é que não é sobre perfeição. É sobre valer a pena cada segundo, e "Everything Everywhere All at Once" valeu.

This is the most unabashedly absurd movie I've seen in my entire life. It's just a yarn ball of ridiculousness in my memory now, but I know this: I am entertained, I am refreshed, and I might even be a bit of a better person.

I love the way they were experimenting with the shots, pacing and characters and thats where the comedy hit the most (and the sad moments also). The only really bad thing for me about this movie is that it's very long and they could have cut 30 minutes of it and we wouldn't lose anything. Now, Everything Everywhere All at Once was a perfect multiverse movie. The story is intricate and very wild. Why Marvel didn't do something like this for Strange is beyond me. The multiverse concept is already a well-worn trope, and ultimately the basic message of the film is quite simplistic. Too many effects, too much cgi and too many comedy kung-fu fights made me feel as though the director was making it up as he went along and throwing everything possible at the screen in case some of it stuck. I hear they originally wrote the main part for Jackie Chan, and it's a shame as he would have been ideal for this - though Michelle Yeoh was a good stand in. Overall I can't say I enjoyed this movie and felt it wasn't nearly as clever as it thought it was.… Expand

Esta pelicula simplemente es MARAVILLOSA. No se si es por que la vi en un momento de la vida en el que estoy pasando por algo parecido o si es demasiado buena. La verdad que estoy seguro que es y sera una de las mejores pelciulas del año yEsta pelicula simplemente es MARAVILLOSA. No se si es por que la vi en un momento de la vida en el que estoy pasando por algo parecido o si es demasiado buena. La verdad que estoy seguro que es y sera una de las mejores pelciulas del año y MAS. Me encanta el mensaje que da sobre el "hacer lo que uno quiere" el "que somos", el "ser uno mismo". Siento que la pelicula abarca muchisimas dudas existenciales que solemos tener y lo hace de una manera a veces graciosa y muy seria. Me encanto la idea de ver este tema con el multiverso y realidades... puede que te confunda al principio pero le tomas el ritmo al toque.

Los efectos especiales son una locura y se nota que hay MUCHISIMO esfuerzo detras. La musica es maravillosa, te hace sentir alegria, tristeza, bronca, TODO! Los acotres son sencillamente buenisimos, la verdad que no conocia a nadie aparte de Jaime Lee pero todos me sorprendieron un MONTON. Seguro que fue un super reto tener que interpretar tantos papeles de un mismo personaje, sus actuaciones me hicieron reir, enojarme y mas que nada LLORAR. Creo que esta pelicula tiene un mensaje hermoso y la forma de hacer todo es perfecto, la verdad que se nota que hay un montón de esfuerzo y dedicacion en este proyecto, comparado a muchísimas peliculas/series que vemos hoy en dia. SIN DUDA ESTA PELICULA ES UN MUST-SEE! Les juro que no puedo parar de pensar en la pelicula, me dio una piña y me dejo pensando. Me hizo reflexionar muchisimo de que es la vida y como uno la lleva... esta pelicula sin duda es de mis favoritas de este año, merece un gran premio por que algo asi no se ve siempre. Me encantaria seguir escribiendo de esta pelicula todo el dia.. pero no puedo, SI NO LA VISTE MIRALA YAAAA!! Una nota de amor al cine sin duda

In my opinion one of the best creative movies in the last years.
Amazing cinematography, creativity and soundtrack, kinda slow at the beggining but then it put us inside the movie and what amazing world it is.

I was only aware of their previous film Swiss Army Man, and found that to be a delight, and a wonderful showcase for the lead actors. Michelle Yeoh is a legend, of course, but the revelation and welcome return to film is Kw Huy Quan, of Temple Of Doom and Goonies fame, as her husband. He has to play her partner in various incarnations and it's a joy to watch. And not to forget James Wong, who shows no sign of slowing down as he approaches a century on this planet. It's rare to find a film that engages the eye, the heart and the mind so successfully.… Expand

This movie is amazing. Basically flawless. Funny, clever, plot driven, great plot, had an amazing concept and the action was really good. I will probably see this movie many times over.

Beautiful, moving, emotional. Yes, the entire first half of the movie is action-packed, sci-fi fantasy fluff, but I can't imagine how the outcome could've been better without it.
