It's got plenty of bum notes, but if you can set aside what's awkward about the movie and instead champion it for everything it does right, there's an interesting film here. There's a lot of lore to decompress into this story, and I think the writers did a great job of moving things along. I highly recommend seeing it in IMAX because it often fills the full screen with stunning images. I'm at a 7.5 on this but I could go higher if it stands up upon a re-watch.… Expand

As I said before, the characters are well builded and all of them are different from each other. Each of them have their very own psychology giving them a deeply context. It has the humour that other marvel movies have, I liked how it incorporated mythological aspects. Good story, good representation with the actors/characters. Would 100% watch it again! I am overly critical of the surplus of Marvel films and I actually enjoyed this one. The CGI was jaw dropping and the action sequences were awesome. La introducción/presentación de personajes es magistral, es muy difícil presentar a tantos personajes nuevos y todos con poderes diferentes, y lo logran a la perfección, una maravilla.
La forma de narrar, la construcción de la trama, es muy buena, dentro de que la historia tampoco es nada del otro mundo, pero como introducción de un "Universo" nuevo, es brutal.

· Cosas buenas: La narrativa, se nota que Zhao saber hacer bien las cosas, visualmente es una locura, algunos personajes son maravillosos, quiero más, el mensaje que da es necesario, la película en sí tiene un tono diferente a las demás y, lo más obvio, el reparto no tiene sentido.
· Cosas malas: Es evidente que no es una película de superhéroes al uso, y puede que el tipo de narración se te haga lenta, además, el último cuarto de película pierde algo de fuelle, sobre todo el clímax.
· Conclusión: Era una película muy difícil de hacer, para mí, muy bien resuelta, es verdad que toca demasiados palos, pero lo hace muy bien, no entiendo la crítica en absoluto, no es lo mismo de siempre, y eso se agradece.… Expand

Eternals is indeed a very experimental film, easily the most unique movie in the MCU and consequently one of the most polarizing. The reason being that the movie breaks off significantly from the successfully established formula ofEternals is indeed a very experimental film, easily the most unique movie in the MCU and consequently one of the most polarizing. The reason being that the movie breaks off significantly from the successfully established formula of practically every Marvel movie since Iron Man 1. Firstly, the movie looks beautiful (with the exception of a certain small CGI scene) all throughout and the action scenes are out of this place. The choreography is not as on-point as let's say Shang Chi but the abilities are used very creatively. The battles look great and felt very intense (something that came off as very refreshing) The best thing about the movie is that it feels very complete with the insane amount of content it brings. It has backstories, character development, plot twists, great action sequences (forest part, final battle) and the romances are very well done and NOT forced. Everything about the movie feels very natural and genuine, especially the music. Also the comedy is for once, actually good enough to keep it balanced since the nature of the film leans quite on the darker side. Also Gilgamesh and Ikaris completely stole the movie IMO. Finally, while the special effects didn't break any new ground, they still felt very brutal throughout the movie. All in all, the movie isn't a 10 but more like a 9.5. It's definitively in my top 5 of the MCU along with Infinity War, The Winter Soldier, Far From Home and Iron Man 1.… Expand

Well I thought Eternals was fantastic! An epic and grand spectacle unlike anything we’ve seen in the MCU thus far. Visually stunning with a century spanning story that really worked for me. It's an enjoyable watch. I'm shocked at the low score here on Metacritic. Quality wise, the movie is on par with the Iron Man movies. Better than average Marvel flick. I thought it only suffered from two issues. 1) It's about 7-12 minutes too long. This wasn't the worst thing and I'd rather have a movie be a bit too long with room to breathe rather than try to cramBetter than average Marvel flick. I haven't seen such a great MCU movie since Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

I feel this movie is being judged unfairly. It’s being compared to all the Marvel movies that have come before it, but when seen as a separate film, building toward a new series of movies in the MCU , this movie is truly great. I thought Eternals was one of the best MCU movies to date. While pace was slow at times I actually found myself appreciating that, as so many MCU movies move at breakneck speeds, unnecessarily and usually at the expense of the story’sI thought Eternals was one of the best MCU movies to date. While pace was slow at times I actually found myself appreciating that, as so many MCU movies move at breakneck speeds, unnecessarily and usually at the expense of the story’s development. In Eternals Zhao let’s us sit with the complexities of the narrative unfolding before us. We spend much of the movie seeing just how human these demigods have become during their journey on earth. The story is ambitious to try and tell in the timeframe of a single movie, but it’s executed with clarity. Themes of ethics, creation, human experience, free will all play out in deep ways (even more-so than in other MCU films). This is a deep thinking superhero film, similar to Nolan’s Batman series, which might be why reviews have been sub-par. People seem to just want to be entertained at movies these days. Less explosions and a film that really challenges the viewer alongside its characters.… Expand

I could feel the touch of Chloé Zhao's films only in the cinematography, using natural light in almost every shot. One of the best Marvel movies so far. Everything in this project is so beautiful and unique! I didn't catch the movie at the theaters since a lot of the reviews were luke-warm at best. So, I waited until it aired on Disney+. I watched it last night, sandwiched with the evening news in between. I watched it last night, sandwiched with the evening news in between. I would say that it was okay and it held my interest, but definitely not on the scale of Infinity War or Civil War or Endgame. It had some very slow moments and I thought the story was a bit muddled. I would have liked even more background on the Celestials and their grand scheme for the universe, but hopefully that is coming. Otherwise it was entertaining, but I'm glad I didn't rush out to the cinema to see it. Cheers.… Expand

The Eternals is a Chloe Zhao film first, A Marvel production later. It is a meditative and much more slower paced film, gorgeously shot and of course, different from past Marvel offerings. The film still of course retain its signature set pieces, with an incredible budget to boot. Yet it has a different tone that seems to turn off many viewers expecting some non stop action. I might not be the best MCU entry and a has some weaknesses but it is not the total failure some others claim it to be. ItThis movie faced a bit of criticism so I waited until it was available on Disney+. Actually this is an enjoyable movie. I might not be the best MCU entry and a has some weaknesses but it is not the total failure some others claim it to be. It is the story of the Eternals. Those are heroes with superpowers that do not age. The Celestial Arishem send them to Earth approx 7000 ago (Celestial’s = cosmic beings with god like powers). They should protect mankind from the Deviants which are super predators mankind could not defend themselves. The Eternals are also forbidden from interfering in human affairs. However their time on Earth shapes them and in the present an unexpected event will put them to a challenge. I am avoiding spoilers here so I apologize for being a bit vague. The story works mostly well. A valid and often heard argument is that they wanted to put to much into the movie. I see the point and wont disagree but say for me it is enough to understand the motives of the characters. All characters have their development and quirks or facets. I freely admit that more would work better and maybe a TV show spanning the whole history could work well. However I repeat it is enough and I liked the characters. The humor works well and the twists kept the movie interesting. Lets continue with the actors. Gemma Chan as Sersi has the lead role. I like her character and development. Hope to see more of her and she won me easily over. One of my favorites is Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo. He is so enjoyable and you will know why ;-). Bonus for his assistant Karun played by Harish Patel who is the hidden gem of the movie. Then we have Druig played by Barry Keoghan who is an interesting character and from a moral standpoint also worth analyzing. I think he is a strong asset. I was a bit divined by Richard Madden as Ikaris but he convinced me at the end. Brian Tyree Henry as Phaesto is amazing too and I would like to see more of him. For Gilgamesh played by Ma Dong-Seok ans Thena played by Angelina Jolie I say they wasted both a bit but they fully deliver with what they could. Sprite played by Lia McHugh is fine and has good scenes. I say it is a good performance but I see potential for improvements which is actually a common statement for the movie. Lets go to the presentation. I am divided here. The effects are still good but the design for the Deviants is unappealing. They do not work as intended in my opinion. The other effects are fine. Another negative are the fights but different then you imagine. The fight scenes itself are good even if they are not on the levels of the better MCU movies. My problem is that the Eternals are on even ground against the Deviants and each fight is serious and dangerous. It is hard to believe with all the struggles that they suffered no casualties in all the time. Other than that I already point out that they could do more. Overall I say it is worth watching and entertaining but will probably not end on many top MCU movies lists.… Expand

Eternals got treated like it was Marvel’s Batman v Superman. Despite some bad pacing, the movie is really good once it picks up.

i think it was a fresh new story in MCU, i overall liked the grand space opera style of the movie. few characters were definitely miscast such as Hayek's casting for the role. I enjoyed this rather different take on superhero films. Really made you think about humanities purpose amongst all these god-like heroes and villains. The cinematography is top-notch and the sets and locations are gorgeous. One of the better looking films from the MCU.

The common complaints seem to be the casting and the pacing. I can't agree with those complaints. All the actors are pleasant and do a fine job and the film had me entertained for the entire runtime. The script has a nice balance of actions scenes and plot exposition mixed in with low-key reflective humour. It's not for adrenaline junkies but its not a snoozefest either. It's somewhere in the middle.

It's a worthy addition to the MCU. I'm happy to have seen it and hope to see more like it.… Expand

Adter months of hearing people badmouth this movie, we finally gave it a shot. People must either have very short attention spans, or have trouble following a basic plot.
