Members of the audience I saw it with actually only laughed once. Others left! There doesn’t appear to be any rhyme, reason, or indeed, rules to the competition of which a group of men partake whilst together on a boat. The film is not only ponderous, it's pointless and without any merit whatsoever. I'm also still not sure who won the stupid contest. There are no stars in it and definitely non on it. This is a dud of the first order distinguishing itself by claiming the award for the worst film of the year so far, thereby letting ‘Triple 9’ of the hook. Expand

I wouldn't say its entirely about toxic masulinity as such but the characters featured are pretty petty, it's safe to say. Another term that comes to mind is one-up-man-ship. Plot pace wise, its pretty slow and I thought it was quite bland. It certainly didn't keep me glued to the screen. There are some cliches present and the characters didn't interest me. I watched it, I wasn't completely bored from the start but also it certainly didn't grab me nor is it at all memorable really, in fact it felt a bit self indulgent if anything. Unsurprisingly, I wouldn't actively recommend this, no. There was something that sort of worked about it, although I'm not entirely sure what precisely - the surroundings perhaps but not much else.
