Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a good spy movie with great action. The villains are also above the admittedly low MCU standard. The movie is also a game changer for the MCU.

It's also the rare sequel that somehow manages to improve on an already great first installment. Anthony and Joe Russo wisely give this comic book tale a topical, politically-charged twist. The story itself plays out more like a spy thriller than that of a typical superhero adventure. The action has a real sense of weight to it, and that makes you care more about what happens to the characters.

Chris Evans continues to shine as Captain America, and Scarlett Johansson really comes into her own as Black Widow here. Anthony Mackie adds levity to the surprisingly dramatic events, and Robert Redford brings the appropriate amount of gravitas. Overall, The Winter Soldier is a smart and thrilling superhero movie that doesn't strictly stick to formula, allowing it to feel fresh. The action is superb and the performances are uniformly great. It's one of the very best MCU movies.

From this plot we see He trying to adpate to the modern world and his accoutrements and the problems connected to shield and hydra. The direction is very well made by the brothers Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, thanks to both the script is fluid and the action scenes have a choreography and A fluids to be amazed even for a movie of the genre, the film uses a lot of cgi but you never have the impression that this is a problem, on the contrary it is used in the right dosage. The camera game is very well used in favor of Scenes, in general the photograph is good. The inversion soldier has little time on canvas but is threatening, an antagonist worthy of capture, the dynamics between the black widow and the captao america is very good, the sexual attraction between the two is very Perceptible but this naked He does not develop what works, the falcao is good it serves as a comedic relief, it is not necessary as a main character in the plot but generally has good scenes.the movie has problems predictable scenes, holes in the script nothing very serious.os actors are very competent Chris Evans integrates an American captain with a very large crisis, and this is very evident in the character, he does not know what course to take and his scenes with the winter soldier are very palpaveis.Samuel L. Jackson as nick fury is very good the character has Charisma and has a great evolution.Scarlett Johansson as black widow is great she integrates a charismatic character, Sebastian Stan as winter buck / soldier is very good but does not have enough scenes to play the actor properly, and finally we have Anthony Mackie Which integrates a charismatic falcon, and that works as a relief comico.winter soldier is a good movie with good moments and action scenes but that gives much attention to things unnecessary and extends too much in the plot.note 85 Expand

Russo Brothers did remarkable job, showing that there's no need to stick exactly to the comics to make an excellent Captain America movie. I think this film is good because who doesn't like Captain America? in the film S.H.I.E.L.D are building three heli-carriers which are capable of killing terrorists within minutes, thanks to Stark Industries these are controlled by three satellites that are orbiting earth. Hydra tries to capture Nickolas J. Fury who is pursued by The Winter Soldier, Nickolas gets to safety at the Captains flat. Whilst there Nickolas gets shot by you guessed it The Winter Soldier and Cap chases after him but gets away. In the hospital where Nickolas is held he is with both Captain America and The Black Widow, they think that nick is dead but he's in a coma. In the middle of the film Captain America, falcon and Black Widow are after the Winter Soldier here Captain America reveals Bucky Barnes to be The Winter Soldier but runs away from them. When Marvel started making movies, with the exception of Batman, I hated superheroes, I hated everything about them. I had written them off as the lowest, cheapest form of science fiction, and the first few Marvel films did little to prove me wrong, but then they started getting better, and arguably the best films in the franchise, or at least my favorites have been the Captain America films. Chris Evans is just terrific, he has this innocent naiveté about him surrounded in a childlike wonderment, but when the time comes, he can still kick some ass and even crack a joke, Evans just fits the role like a glove. There's not much point summarizing the story, because if you're not into the whole Marvel scene, you're probably not going to understand or see this film anyway, and that's a shame, because from a visual stand point alone, The Winter Soldier rivals anything Marvel has put out to date. On that note, the one draw back to this film is there is a lot of Avenger story line involved. This is supposed to be a stand alone film, fans of the series loved it and rightfully so, but what about the people who just like the character and aren't into the whole genre? All the other Avenger/Shield/Hydra stuff and other characters from other series could make the story for them more than somewhat confusing. In watching this film, you almost have to have some kind of background knowledge of the characters involvement in other films in order to be in the know and that doesn't sit right with people, particularly kids, who just want to see Captain America. For the fans, however it doesn't get much better than this, it's slightly longer and rougher around the edges than The First Avenger, but it is still a great film, and a must see for anyone is trying to keep with the Marvel franchise. As I watch Captain America Civil War,I thought It was the best Marvel movie but After I've rewatch the this,my opinion becomes different.Captain America:The Winter Soldier is still the best Marvel Movie.

The film has a great action sequences that is entertaining as hell, the movie is more serious but still has funny moments but all in all it is serious, The plot is well written and straightforward that also inspired from our real world. The characters are great in this,Black Widow was just fantastic,Nick Fury has a bigger role here and it was fascinating,Captain America is just a badass while his Alter Ego Steve Rogers was having a hard time fitting in to the new world he is living after a decades in ice those scenes were just interesting,Agent 13 and Falcon were great addition but Sam Wilson has more screen time than Agent 13 who was also underdeveloped and so thus Maria Hill.Hydra is the real villain here with the leadership of Alexander Pierce and their secret weapon the titled character who was just compelling and who happens to be cap's friend making Cap conflicted about it.The performances were fantastic in the film, all of them,no one did wrong, and no one felt shoehorned for a commercial of an upcoming film(Spider-man was shoehorned in Civil War but because he was well executed,we didn't feel like it).

All in all the film was great, the plot has a clearer focus than civil war,the action set pieces are also clear and well executed, the characters are entertaining to watch, the music score is fine for this film. The balanced humor and seriousness well and the dialogue was well written.Captain America:The Winter Soldier is far superior movie than Civil War but that's just me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In a year when I was hyped to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Trust me its day is coming). i was blown away by how much effort and how thought provoking the subject manner is. This is Marvels version of "The Dark Knight" as it dives into subjects that very few superhero stories go to. Captain America is conflicted with his role as an American icon as he realizes that the America he fought for in World War II is not the same America as it is today. He figures out that America is more secretive than it was in its earlier days and his ideals are challenged like Batman before him. Every pearson he knows is either dead or withering away in their old age which makes the character have a tragic backstory but he still has a sense of optimism that few other heroes have. This is the film that made me realize why Captain America has lasted for so long. That is because he represents the ideals that America strives for and not necessarily it's Government. He is even challenged on a personal level when he is fought against his sole opposite the Winter Solider. Like the Captain, he is a solider that fights for his form of government but unlike his counterpart, he was forced into the experimentation which perfectalty reflects the major differences between the two forms of government. It is also a challenge when the Winter Solider was reveled to be Captain America's old war fiend Bucky Barnes. The revelation of Hydra pulling the strings in U.S politics might be seen as silly but it is a nice allegory statement about how America has become more fascist as it is about to kill innocent people for things that they might do instead of what they would actually do. Said reveal is so intriguing and so mind boggling that it reminded me of the interaction between Raiden and the Patriot A.Is from "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty". In fact both stories have very similar themes. The only problems that I have is that I wish the Winter Solider was more developed and the "death" of Nick Fury had no emotional weight because I knew they would never kill him off. Despite this the film is full of political intrigue and action sequences are spectacular to see and it is a film that adds to the universe. Expand

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is, without a doubt, my favorite MCU movie since 'Iron Man' (2008), and I even rank this slightly above 'The Avengers' (2012).

Chris Evans returns as the super soldier still trying to adapt to modern life. We see in the beginning that he meets up with a former soldier named Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and they seem to really hit it off. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) also returns in the movie helping out the Captain on his missions as they try and rescue S.H.I.E.L.D. agents from terrorists in a very well crafted fight scene that takes place on a boat.

The Captain learns that Black Widow has been storing some mysterious data and confronts Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) about it, they even have a conversation about trust, and who is more trust-worthy.

We also meet Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford), who is a member of the World Security Council and is very good friends with Fury.

It seems that things get out of hand when Fury ends up in a car chase incident that leads him directly to the mysterious "Winter Soldier". The captain tries to track down this mysterious man with a metal arm, but it seems that he is so powerful and so quick, that he can even catch his shield. Nobody seems to know about this character, he has been around for decades it almost seems. The captain even goes as far as to say that "he's a ghost story".

There are many intense moments throughout this entire film, this is a grounded political thriller, which is unlike Marvel, usually, you would expect some CGI spectacle with a crowd running away from flying air-crafts or aliens invading...but this movie, directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, relies mainly on practical stunt work, some perfectly timed and perfectly choreographed fight scenes, and many, many moments of characters doing some questionable things, but it turns out they were doing it for good reason.

It's amazing as to how the tone shifted, in 'Captain America: The First Avenger' (2011), that was more of a retro, colorful, almost cliched war film...but it was very good. Here, you have a solid, edge-of-your-seat political thriller. Chris Evans distances himself away from that Johnny Storm role in the "Fantastic Four" franchise he used to be a part of, now, he fully blends in as the self-righteous, hard-working soldier.

Both Evans and Johansson also have terrific chemistry, the way that the modern day Black Widow occasionally pokes fun at the 95 year old super soldier, and the way that they don't seem to trust each other at first, but must fight together to stop their enemies is all executed perfectly. The Russo brothers, clearly knew what they were doing.

Forget about the villain silliness of 'Iron Man 3' (2013), or even the CGI heavy 'Thor: The Dark World' (2013) (which I still liked)...Marvel has made, what could possibly be what 'The Dark Knight' (2008) was for the Batman character.

Solid storytelling, thrilling fight scenes, great action, a memorable villain...Marvel has made a perfect summer movie!

Thankfully, there are only a few things Cap needs to get through the day; his trusty vibranium shield and his handy notepad with a slew of suggestions for catching up with the last seventy years, and Cap is ready to take on the world–or corrupt government organizations. Either or, Cap is always ready to save the day, even if he has to take a beating while doing it.

When I first became aware that the directing/producing brothers behind episodes of ’Community’ and You, Me and Dupree were going to be responsible for extending the Captain America canon, I may have gotten a little worried. Thinking that Joe and Anthony Russo were going to follow in the same footsteps as Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnson, focusing more on the comedy and special effects of the Superhero genre and less with the complex, unflinching patriotic mentality of America’s greatest super soldier, the Russo brothers sure proved me wrong. It’s movies like these that make happy to swallow my words and stand corrected, knowing that audience members are able trust that the television medium is one that can be used as an adequate platform towards advancing characters in film as well.

Substituting as much VFX work as possible for a very organic and old-school action approach, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is certainly the best Phase Two Marvel film so far, and may perhaps be the standard film to compete against in a post-Avengers film world, or at least up until the Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Always on a mission, it seems that Cap lives to work, not works to live. Especially since he has been in deep sleep for the last little while. While the United States government is surely getting the most out of their ridiculously expensive investment, the government trusts that their super solider is never compromised and his dedication and hard work to his country is never skewed. When a secret organization with similar interests to those of S.H.I.E.L.D threaten to kill twenty million people, Cap is sent to fight at sea, on land, and in the air. Accompanied by his trusty sidekick Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), the two seem to always be pitted within the same missions but always having ulterior motives. Commanded by their one-eyed superior Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), S.H.I.E.L.D must face off against their most ruthless enemy yet.

One of the biggest issues I will continue to have with Marvel’s stand-alone films from now on, is the fact that once conflict reaches a certain level of danger, like lets say a global level, I will always ask, “Where the heck are the Avengers? And if not the Avengers, where is Tony Stark? The Hulk? Someone? Anyone?” No problem could be too big for the super-powered team of freedom fighting Superheroes. This is one film where I questioned the presence of Tony Stark? Was he just waiting to see what Cap would do on the other side of the country while he sat at home on his couch?

Essentially, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a team effort in crime fighting, with Black Widow and Sam Wilson/The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) helping out are star-spangled Superhero this time around, Cap sure doesn’t seem to be without powerful friends. What was also refreshing was finally seeing Nick Fury get in on the action, providing the film with one of the best car chase scene Marvel ever assembled. One of the virtues of Captain America: The Winter Soldier stands by is the fact that, you don’t need to wear a mask to be a Superhero–which might explain why Cap always insists on removing his.

At times, the film may seem like Marvel’s take on Minority Report anticipating danger before it even happens, and upholding the idea of ‘peace’ for the sake of the world. But as the Head of S.H.I.E.L.D operations ironically points out, “peace is not an achievement, its a responsibility”. So when S.H.I.E.L.D is corrupted from the inside, right under their noses and Cap is left to face-off against a super-soldier baddie, later known as the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), the organization really has some explaining to do.

TWS is not only a great superhero movie/ sequel but also a great movie in general. All the cringe worthy jokes and fairly basic plot, which have been ruining marvel for me, have been replaced with an almost masterfully crafted story. Personally, I'm getting ready for Civil War next month by watching The Winter Soldier, and if the next Captain American movie is as good as this one, there's nothing to worry about. In The Winter Soldier, Steve Rodgers is trying to adjust to the modern world until a conspiracy involving SHIELD comes to light, but Cap also has to team up with Black Widow to battle another threat: The Winter Soldier. To me, Captain America has always been the most interesting Avenger because of how he was forced to leave behind his old life and friends, especially his old lover Peggy Carter, and adjust to life in the 21st century. It allows him to be more than just a roided-up superhero with a cool shield, and his struggle with readjustment is explored well in this movie. He also has to deal with a myriad of other significant issues like SHIELD and the Winter Soldier. The political conspiracy plot in particular adds a lot of suspense and twists to the story to make it consistently thrilling while the Winter Soldier provides a lot of great action sequences. His character is mysterious throughout the film, and he's definitely one of the better Marvel movie villains. Captain America: The Winter Soldier should certainly please even the most casual comic book movie viewer with its intense action, great plot and witty writing. I think I might need to binge watch all the MCU movies before Infinity War comes out next year. Expand

Captain America: The Winter Soldier represents the first film from Marvel Studios since The Avengers to capture the true superhero spirit: plenty of derring-do, action, adventure, and an ending that doesn't fall apart. A sequel to 2011'sCaptain America: The Winter Soldier represents the first film from Marvel Studios since The Avengers to capture the true superhero spirit: plenty of derring-do, action, adventure, and an ending that doesn't fall apart. A sequel to 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, this film is unlikely to convert a non-Captain America lover into a fanatic but it's assembled with sufficient skill that those who enjoy this sort of motion picture will have a good time. Also, unlike some of the other Avengers-interrelated movies, this one doesn't feel like a glorified prequel or an unnecessary adjunct. It tells its own story and, unlike with Thor 2 and Iron Man 3, we don't feel the absence of the rest of the team.

That's partially because The Winter Soldier in many ways functions as a "mini Avengers." In addition to Captain America (Chris Evans), the narrative incorporates Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Falcon/Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). Also on hand is Samuel L. Jackson's irrepressible Nick Fury, who has more to do here than in any of his appearances outside The Avengers. Robert Redford, who reportedly took this job for his grandchildren, provides a smooth, suave bad guy in the person of Secretary Alexander Pierce.

The first two-thirds of The Winter Soldier almost feel more like a Cold War-era espionage thriller than a superhero movie. The movie concludes with the expected special effects-laden battles and beat-the-clock action but those scenes are composed more coherently than related sequences in similar movies. And, although The Winter Soldier is available in 3-D, it's perfectly capable of being enjoyed in the less expensive 2-D format.

The movie starts with a mission in which the Captain leads a SHIELD team in boarding a pirated ship. The effort is successful but, when it's revealed that the true purpose of the assault is to protect SHIELD assets, not save lives, a rift develops between the Captain and the head of SHIELD. Later, after Fury is targeted for assassination, the Captain, accompanied by Natasha and Sam, goes on the run to discover who's behind the rot corrupting SHIELD. They learn that not only does it go to the very top but Secretary Pierce has his own superhuman agent, an ex-Soviet assassin codenamed The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), working for him. Having taken down Fury, The Winter Soldier targets Captain America.

The Winter Soldier is effectively paced with enough action to keep things moving but not so much that it overwhelms everything. One of the keys to the film's efficacy is that it takes the time to develop the relationships among the four key members. Human interaction is rarely considered an important element in "standard" superhero movies. The way it's handled in The Winter Soldier shows why it's important. The story doesn't become bogged down focusing on character development but it has enough to elevate the protagonists above the level of fast moving avatars.

The narrative contains its share of unpredictable elements and isn't afraid to shake up the status quo. One wonders what kind of ripple effects this will have on the ABC-TV series about SHIELD. By the end of The Winter Soldier, events seem to be pointing more forcefully toward a Captain America 3 than Avengers 2, although there is an obligatory mid-credits sequence designed to set up next summer's blockbuster sequel.

The most obvious asset possessed by The Winter Soldier is that it isn't plagued by the rampant sameness that characterizes so many superhero movies. The decision to hand the reins to brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, whose resume consists primarily of TV work, is an indication that Marvel wanted to achieve a different aesthetic for The Winter Soldier. The Russos' deftness of touch is most evident in the quieter, character-oriented scenes. The action sequences, although capably handled, unfold without distinction.

The Winter Soldier is a rare high profile movie being released outside the Thanksgiving/Christmas or summer movie seasons. The lack of significant competition should give it a box office boost and it will have run its course before The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes along in four weeks. For comic book fans, this one is unlikely to leave the sour aftertaste of Iron Man 3 or Thor 2. It's effective escapist entertainment - something we need from time-to-time.

(Credit watchers take note: There are two "bonus scenes." The first, which is a direct tie-in to Avengers 2, occurs about mid-way. Then there's another short snippet after the full end credits have completed. This one can be missed but it's there if you elect to stay.)

A 70s style political thriller is not something you'd expect from the MCU, especially not one that works. But insane action, a great original soundtrack and a developed plot with some serious themes makes it all possible (as does a bloody excellent performance from Chris Evans.) The Russo brothers craft the characters and the villain really well, but unusually the action is what has you most gripped here. It's so gritty, it'll have you on the edge of your seat
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: Does the heavy plot and action take away some of the 'Marvel soul' that make these movies human?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, I've been watching a bunch of the Marvel movies lately to prepare for the new Avengers one, and I think this might be my favourite so far. I came at it from a weird perspective because I hadn't seen the first movie, but I was told some of the major plot points about it ahead of time, and I found that it was much easier to follow along than the first Avengers movie was for me.

Anyway, I thought this movie was really well done. Captain America is a surprisingly likeable and human character in the movies, particularly in the friendship he strikes up with the army veteran. The innocence of his dynamic with Scarlett Johansson is also really refreshing--there's always so much sexual chemistry projected onto everyone she interacts with in the Marvel movies, so it's wonderful in this movie to see things like a fake kiss between her and Captain America without any sexual tension whatsoever.

The good character dynamics aside, I really enjoyed how different this movie was in that it showed so much of the inner workings and turmoil of Shield. It made for a compelling premise, partly because it's always nice when you get some Samuel L. Jackson in a movie, but mostly because it was so interesting to see Captain America working against the establishment and being forced to conspire against the government in the interest of the public. Also, the back story with the German scientist who made his way into Shield and founded Hydra within it was a really neat premise, and Captain America exploring the camp where he originally trained (as well as his recollections later) was really well done with effects, so that it conjured up the past without resorting to too many flashbacks. Overall, this was a really solid movie and I enjoyed it a lot.

The movie is the best definition of "mediocre" i could ever give, from other reviews i have read, they were saying that it was an unpredictable dark "masterpiece". But it was the complete opposite. It was really annoying how i could predict everything that was happening through the movie, it was painful to see a lot of incoherence in the events, and it was also annoying that lazy writers were just giving to the plot structure conveniences to the events. I really dislike when the laws of physics don't apply to Marvel productions and even worse when they are in favor with the protagonist, just for the plot device to work. It has an awful script, it has a mediocre directing, it has okay performances and it has a really pretentious and dull story without knowing itself to be taken serious or not. Come and hate me Marvel fanboys! Because this is the most overrated movie of 2014! Expand

Actors do a decent job (it´s not a movie to shine as an actor anyway) and the story is slightly superior to the average Marvel film. But the hype around it is too much. Robert Reford is totally wasted. The brief scenes with real dialogue are as corny and childish as in any other Marvel film, jokes are weak, which makes for a weird mix of serious tone and action and these cheap jokes that does not work that well. Particularly annoying is the score during the first past of the film, very American-ish in a bad and patriotic way. The villain was a little bit better than usual too, but still weak and all their scenes remind the audience of The Dark knight Batman and Joker scenes, only that failing to come close. Overall, entertaining but only a little bit better than the typical mediocre comic book film from Marvel. Expand

The plot is involving, the characters are well written, and the action is shockingly exciting. I'd say it's a substantial improvement over the solid, but uninspired, original. It gets off to a really good start with a secret mission to board a massive ship. I was surprised at how brutal the action was, but in a good way. Usually Marvel tries to sugar coat it a little too much. It's all very exciting and surprisingly well done, but I do have a few qualms. The action isn't nearly as grounded in reality as Nolan's Batman trilogy, and the plot doesn't delve quite as deeply into the dark side of humanity either. Also, towards the end, the action packed climax did begin to bore me a little bit. It was just a little too repetitive with the massive explosions and people falling. Overall however, the movie still emerges as one of the smartest, most viscerally thrilling, and engaging films of the genre, which when considering the endless supply of examples to chose from, is no small feat. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Analysis: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

2014 has been a good year not just for movies in general, but also for super-heroes flicks. With the disappointing sequel that’s known as “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, I also saw “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” which were pretty damn amazing, but the first super-hero film I saw this year was “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. Holy sh*t, this movie is REALLY good. The pacing is great, the plot is great and the action scenes, oh my god… they are phenomenal. After re-watching it, I had to lower my score but you’ll know why I did that, if you read this whole review. I went to see this movie with my pal, and we were satisfied by how good this movie was. Although, there are some questionably bad elements, some other elements make up for that, and you know this movie exceed my expectations for future Marvel installments.

Steve Rogers, finding it easier to acclimate to the modern society as a soldier of SHIELD, learns that the organization has been compromised and a Soviet assassin known as The Winter Soldier will stop at nothing to kill Captain America, which leads him uncover a truth that will change everything.

First off, let’s talk about the plot. The movie’s spy-thriller plotting is so well done. I love how the filmmakers were trying to fit Steve Rogers in the new world, dealing with the pop culture he has never met before, because, if you saw the first Captain America film (which is most likely you did), you’d know that Captain slept for about 70 years. There’s one scene (curiously, it’s right in the beginning of the movie) where Steve picks his notebook to write down few things he missed when he was frozen back in the 40’s, if you look closely, you’ll see that there’s “Star Wars” written on it. Man, that will blow his mind because if you have seen Star Wars, you probably know that Samuel L. Jackson (the same actor who plays Nick Fury in this movie) is in it. I also love the fact how they constructed the whole Hydra subplot. Now, the villain. While the Winter Soldier is an appealingly badass character, there is no much depth to him. I don’t know, I just think the Hydra’s subplot too often overshadows the title’s character, NOT Captain America, but yes, The Winter Soldier. I think they should have renamed The Winter Soldier to “Captain America: The Fall of Shield”. Perhaps the title didn’t want to give an impression that Shield was going down, to not give too much away of the plot. So yeah, the antagonist was cool, there’s a fight scene where he Bucky Barnes (aka Winter Soldier) punches Cap’s shield, and that resembled the comics, when once Barnes punched Captain’s shield right in the center of the object. I didn’t read the comic, but I heard for someone else.

The dialogue is really bad. I mean, occasionally, it is very bad. Not the way that it’s written, but in the context that the dialogue is put, like for instance, when Natasha Romanoff is sitting next Rogers in the car and she starts asking this: “Was I really your first kiss since 1945?”. Jesus, is really that what were you thinking when you guys were driving towards Shield bunker in New Jersey? Yikes. One of the main reasons that the dialogue in “Iron Man” works is because the director and the studio let Robert Downey Jr. improvise his own dialogue, he hammed it up as Tony Stark. Unfortunately, it is my duty sorry to report that Steve Rogers is not Tony Stark. He’s not witty. In “The Winter Soldier”, the dialogue is rather more annoying than amusing. Luckily, one of the highlights of the film make up for that, which leads me to the next point.

The action sequences. Although the action scenes suffer from some shaky cams, the battles are well choreographed, not only in the final battle but when Agent Romanoff and Captain America are fighting the Winter Soldier in the highway. They are… amazing. My friend and I were astonished by how good they are. Sometimes they felt like warfare battles instead of an ordinary super-hero blockbuster, but then a guy with eagle-wings comes in, and yeah… you know.

The cast is outstanding. Chris Evans returns to reprise the role as Steve Rogers/Captain America and Scarlett Johansson is simply the hottest super-hero sidekick in a while. Like I said before, Samuel Jackson also returns as Nick Fury and other actors like Robert Redford (portraying Alexander Pierce, basically the villain of this movie, kind of) and Anthony Mackie are just great.

Final Score to Captain America: The Winter Soldier: 8.5/10. I’m not a huge Captain America fan, but this movie was startling, stylish and the actors’ performances were magnificent. The dialogue and the villain could use some work, but at the end of the day, this entertaining for everyone. Next MCU review: Guardians of the Galaxy.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" 10 Scale Rating: 9.0 (Amazing) ...

The Good: Unlike any other "super hero" movie you will ever see. While other films of this genre are clearly geared more towards comic book fans, Winter Soldier is a cross-genre film that will appease movie-goers who know nothing about the character or Marvel at all. Parts action thriller, spy film, thrilling drama, and yes ... comic book film, the movie does an amazing job pulling you in no matter who you are. Despite the wider target audience, there is still plenty for the astute fan as the film is chock full of Easter eggs and references that will keep everyone very VERY happy. Possibly among the greatest super hero films ever made, second only (possibly) to Batman: The Dark Knight.

The Bad: Early on, a few of the fighting and action scenes suffer from shaky camera syndrome, which made it hard to follow what exactly happened. There is a slight need for suspension of belief during a few late action scenes as well as parts of the main plot.
