Eichner is quick and funny, and Macfarlane is a strong leading man and a sensitive listener — with Eichner constantly deluging him with a torrent of words, Macfarlane would have to be. Audiences will become very fond of both long before the end of the picture. Read full review

You wish the film had a slightly more queer eye behind the camera (yes, that’s a genuine thing, Andrew Ahn’s “Fire Island” is an excellent recent example). Even for a major studio production, it might have helped. But if everyone around you is laughing, maybe it doesn’t matter. I thought it was hilarious and very insightful. The script was very dense so one could miss some of the points and views it was trying to make. I really enjoyed it

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As someone who identifies as straight, I may not have been the target audience for "Bros." However, I believe it's important to analyze films from different perspectives. While the movie had its flaws, it did have some redeeming qualities that are worth mentioning.
One aspect that stood out was the film's cinematography. The visuals were well-executed, and certain scenes were visually captivating. The attention to detail in these moments deserves appreciation.
Moreover, "Bros" attempted to explore the side plot of a gay museum, which, although somewhat cliché, provided an interesting backdrop for the story. While it may not have been executed perfectly, it offered a unique perspective and shed light on a lesser-known aspect of LGBTQ+ culture.
It's true that the main character was portrayed as insufferable and unlikable, which hindered the overall experience. His character arc was not as impactful as it could have been, and his initial portrayal as a sexaholic didn't evolve until much later. This lack of character development made it difficult to fully invest in his journey.
Additionally, the humor in the movie didn't always hit the mark. Some jokes fell flat, while others relied on tired mom jokes. This aspect could have been improved by incorporating more clever and original humor that resonated with a broader audience.
Although "Bros" lacked a solid romance foundation, there were glimpses of genuine emotional connection between the characters. Expanding on these moments and further developing the chemistry between them could have strengthened the overall romantic aspect of the film.
In conclusion, "Bros" had its merits, particularly in terms of cinematography and its exploration of the gay museum concept. However, the unlikable main character, underwhelming character development, and hit-or-miss humor detracted from the overall experience. With more attention to these aspects and a deeper exploration of romance, the film could have reached its full potential.… Expand

An absolute abomination. They single-handedly painted a picture that all gay men are butt thirsty sexual deviants and then turned around and blamed the complete flop on the fact that the world is almost entirely heterosexual.
