It was very funny. You owe it to both Will Ferrel and Jon Heder because they were both equally hilarious. The script and character development was great as well as the humor. The only reason I gave it a six was that the story was good for a comedy but it wasn't a great movie. Expand

Sure its enjoyable for us Ferrel fans but this film is nowhere near as good as Anchorman or especially Old School - films where Ferrel actually played it straight sometimes. If Ferrel is going to continue yelling all the time, he should stick to cameos like Wedding Crashers where the impact will still be there. Expand

Viewing this film was a field trip back to the locker room in high school. Still, Will Ferrell can create humor out of the worst screen plays, though the laughs are scattered. The movie does have some socially redeeming value: men are still terrified of the feminine facets of our constitution. Call us anything, but never call us "sissy." We always laughed at the "sissy" in school. Why else would this movie be funny to so many? Why was it at times funny to me? So, I find myself not dealing so much with the movie, but with myself for laughing at scenarios that caused so many in my past pain. Expand

Forget the story, if you want a mindless but very funny movie this is it. Over-the-top is what you get, from the costumes to the performances by Ferrell and Heder, with great supporting cast of Will Arnett and Amy Poehler. I was kinda disappointed. Not only do a surprising number of the jokes fall flat, but the whole "Ew, it's two guys touching" gag wears thin before the film has run half its course. Not only do a surprising number of the jokes fall flat, but the whole "Ew, it's two guys touching" gag wears thin before the film has run half its course. I've never been particularly impressed with Jon Heder, but I do expect a little bit more from Will Ferrell. Having said all of that, there is a certain unquantifiable nice-ness to the picture that keeps it from being a total disaster, and although I'm certain I won't remember it at all five years from now, it's still a relatively painless way to kill two hours. Like so many Ferrell movies, it started out very funny for the first 10 or20 minutes, then slowly sank to boring predictability. It wanted to be a satire of skating/sports hype but wimped out into a strange kind of homoerotic buddy romance. Lighthearted and funny and most parts, uncomfortable in others, never gut-busting hilarious.

There were many moments in this film that I thought were very funny. But it doesn't hold up as a solid film. It will definitely entertain you. You also don't have to worry about thinking at all. From reading some of the other user There were many moments in this film that I thought were very funny. But it doesn't hold up as a solid film. It will definitely entertain you. You also don't have to worry about thinking at all. From reading some of the other user comments, I get the impression that fans of Will Farrell are split between those who like the simple low brow humor and those who like something a little more intellectual and unique. Not to say that there's anything wrong with being a fan of either. But this one is more of the former, and so fans of Anchorman will probably find it lacking, as I do. So if you're like me, you'll probably want to wait until this one comes out on video or is being aired endlessly on cable television. Will Ferrell does fine with a funny, but still uninteresting character. John Heder does the bare minimum, as we all know he only has one character in him (you can hear Napoleon come out a couple of times when his character becomes frustrated). Arnett and Poehler are fantastic, and as others have said, it's too bad we couldn't have seen more of them. For fans of Jenna Fischer, you do get to see quite a bit more of her than you do on The Office (skimpy lingerie, anyone?)...which for some, may make it worth going to see. I also enjoyed the under-utilized character of the stalker, played by Nick Swardson. My favorite line of his in the whole movie: "And remember, I'm still gonna kill you someday." And Will Ferrell throwing up while wearing the giant head of a wizard costume for a children's ice show is one of the more memorable moments of the film. Expand

Not one of Will Ferrell's best but still and enjoyable funny movie that will keep a smile on your face. Unlike most of Ferrell's films however, there isn't a single joke or line that is more prominent than the others.

Do You Know How Some Jokes Are Lame, But You Laugh Anyway??? Well Thats What This Movie Is..
I Hate The Cast, Writing Is OK, Bad Acting, Cheesy , And Overall Not A Thrill To Even Watch..
4! Sucked..

There are amusing moments throughout; however, not quite enough to keep on chugging for an hour and a half. Unfortunately, you cannot simply throw Will Ferrell into any crazy scenario and consider it hilarious.

Blades of Glory breaks the ice.
Blades of Glory is simply just a semi-funny overdone comedy movie about two male ice skaters. The dialogue is good, the acting is great, and the script gets out preformed by the rest of it. An okay premise

Will Ferrell movies for me are generally hit or miss. One of the passable Ferrell movies for me. For reference the movies of his that I have really liked are Talladega Nights and Elf. This one is worth a watch, but I think once was enough.

I really thought this movie would be horrible. It was actually a funny and entertaining movie. I swear Will Ferrell can make anything funny. He's one of my favorite actors.
