Black Widow is a movie that had low expectations because I didn't expect much from it and I thought it was going to be awful.... after watching it I realized how wrong I was.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really enjoyed seeing Natasha Romanoff again. The film just throws around with action, but also knows how to allow for quieter moments. So I felt this "family" constellation really strong. In particular, the father (David Harbor) was able to cause some laughs. The repeated references to the Avengers were very amusing. Florence Pugh also plays a good role here, and in general I really liked it as an actor.

All of this about Natasha's past was interesting and the station at the end was very impressive. In general, the film has quite a few changes of scenery and never gets boring. I have to say, however, that the action was way too exaggerated at times. "Way over the top". I also have to criticize the intro, it was just too long and a very annoying introduction to a film (I've hardly seen it like this before).

The film asks a few questions or doesn't really answer them. I wanted a bit more content.

The film reminded me of Mission: Impossible and I found it really good in its last offshoot. Black Widow 7/10 spiders.
I like e.g. better than the Captain Marvel movie.… Expand

After seeing this movie in theaters, I was very impressed! Tons of action scenes and a very interesting plot line. Thoroughly enjoyed how it incorporates snippets from the other movies and all comes together in the end. The cast was perfectlyAfter seeing this movie in theaters, I was very impressed! I'ts fun, something that the MCU has not been in a very, very long time. Best thing I can say about it is that 90 minutes into the movie you don't even know who the villan is and I was having fun anyways. And I would take 100 movies with characters like these over Endgame's dullness anytime.

After being delayed thrice due to COVID-19 pandemic which forced theatres around the world to close for a while, the twenty-fourth instalment in Marvel Cinematic Universe finally arrived in the big screen while the movie is also available in Disney+ for a premium fee at the same time.

Due to her betrayal in Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Johansson) became a fugitive and is currently on the run from US Secretary of State, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Elsewhere, another Black Widow, Yelena Belova (Pugh), is on the mission to assassinate a rogue and former Black Widow, whom she manage to free Yelena from mind control using an antidote vial which contain synthetic gas at the cost of her own life. Freed from mind control, Yelena sends the antidote vials to Natasha at her safehouse in Norway hoping she would help.

With the vials under the possession of Natasha, she is attack by a mysterious assassin called Taskmaster (played by Olga Kurylenko), who is coming for the vials. She fights off Taskmaster and escape with the vials. She reunite with Yelena in a safehouse in Budapest, Hungary where she learn that the Red Room led by General Dreykov (played by Ray Winstone) is still active. Working together, Natasha and Yelena break their adoptive father, Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (Harbour), out of prison in order find out Dreykov’s location so they can put an end to the Red Room once and for all.

After going through 2020 without any MCU movies, it is really good to be back watching Marvel movie once again. This movie is not exactly an origin story of Black Widow like 2008’s Iron Man but the writing in this movie did a good job in expanding Black Widow’s past after many hints in the previous movies. For example, we finally get to know what happened in Budapest after it was first mentioned in 2012’s The Avengers and the origins of the Red Room after being mentioned in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. In addition, the movie ties up all loose end on Black Widow and connects very well to 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.

The fighting scenes are very well executed which kind of reminds me of 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and other action thriller movies such as The Bourne series. The performance of the cast have done very well in their acting. Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh have done a great job in their acting. David Harbour deserved a praise too as he not only played the role of Red Guardian well, he also have done a great job in providing comic relief moments in the movie. Ray Winstone and Olga Kurylenko also done a decent performance but I felt their characters are not well developed. I felt Ray’s character is more of a generic Russian villain you watched in other Hollywood movies while Olga did not have much screentime as Taskmaster, who is a well known villain in the comics. Taskmaster shows up in the first and third act but disappeared during the middle of the second act. Other than that, the character is more depicted as a generic henchman.

Nevertheless, Black Widow is still a good movie despite the flaws. If you have missed watching Marvel movies, this is first Marvel movie you definitely want to watch in 2021. Not only that, this movie may be Scarlett Johansson’s final role as Black Widow (her character died in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame) which is another reason why you should watch this movie. Don’t forget to stay back for post credits scene as this scene sets up a future movie or TV series.… Expand

This was a really great movie! It had twists and turns, great action scenes, and was a lot funnier than I expected it to be. All of the actors did a phenomenal job and I hope they keep these characters around for a while. Highly recommended!

Excellent Movie, it have all that charm, action sequences, great dialogues and of course spectacular special Effects that yoi would expect from an M.C.U. Film. What i loved the most is how brilliant and well delivered is Scarlet Johansson's acting here, i think she really got into the Role of Natasha Romanoff and transmits her emotions perfectly on the screen this time, in my opinion this is so far the Best of Scarlet's perfomance of the Black Widow character. I believe this Movie have a big chance of becoming the highest grossing Film of the Year if not The Decade, i'm a good Fan of Marvel Movies and honestly "Black Widow" is on my Top 3 favorites list. I'd recommend 100% this Movie to everyone because it's very enjoyable, trust me, you won't get bored not even for one milisecond. I hope the Academy can acknowledge this time the great convincing acting, dialogues, plot among other amazing things this Masterpiece have, Scarlet. I loved it from the start till the end… Expand

Great movie. It allowed more context into Natasha's life and how she developed as a character. Although there should have been better explanation as to what's the antagonists motive is, I still feel it's a great movie and at par with captain marvel

Se rompe el esquema típico de estas películas en relación a las demás del UCM donde prevalecía el exceso de humor absurdo e imprudente, el cual aquí es más discreto y mejor acertado, tiene una historia mejor estructurada en donde en sus 134 minutos de duración se pueden apreciar muchas cosas. Lo mejor son las impecables actuaciones por parte de Johansson, Pugh, Weiz y Harbour, la química entre las primeras dos es sencillamente fenomenal y natural en donde contrastan perfectamente sus personalidades, en lo técnico los efectos especiales y visuales son junto a la acción desenfrenada y todas las escenas de peleas un auténtico espectáculo que nadie se debe perder.

Después de tantas series absurdas y malas donde lo único que las sostiene es el carisma de sus actores y cero sustancia, por fin llegó Black Widow que tiene el equilibrio perfecto entre estilo y sustancia.

10/10 y no lo discuto con nadie.… Expand

Worth The 14 Month Wait

After being delayed multiple times due to the pandemic, Black Widow finally came out and…… It’s a middle tier MCU film, It has a few issues, But it’s still quite satisfying.

Just don’t pay for it. Wait for it to be available at no extra cost in October with the subscription to Disney+. My god I’m lucky if $30 is the total cost for going to a movie theater and heaven forbid I take someone with me and get snacks. To my knowledge after you “unlock” the movie you now also have it as long as you have the service. Plus you can pause or rewind for any reason at any time. Try doing that a a theater. Now that that’s out of the way I enjoyed this movie, but with everything that “technically” should have come out after it was intended to release: Wanda Vision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, this fell a little short with pacing and story development for me. I loved her back story. I loved the “family” aspect of this, but it does feel a little late to the party with so much rich connected content coming out episodically on Disney+. There were some weird plot points that took me out of deeply enjoying this, but the acting and the actors themselves are just great. Without a doubt Red Guardian is now my favorite character in the entire MCU. David Harbour was perfect. Rachel Weisz is excellent and the rest of the cast shines including Johansson who’s portrayal of Black Widow has been somewhat dull until now. I’m not saying that’s isn’t because they didn’t give her a lot to work with in previous films, but I actually felt like there was a well rounded character being developed on screen. If you’ve seen the rest in the franchise I don’t hesitate to recommend you checking it out at your convenience. Anyone who isn’t interested in the massively expanding MCU should wait.… Expand
