This film is one of the most fun films I've seen in a while. The audience was laughing out loud. There are many wonderful moments in this film, but there is one (minor actually) that is unlike any that I have ever seen in any film that IThis film is one of the most fun films I've seen in a while. I think it took me and everyone else by surprise. The acting is wonderful and the pace of the film is just right. I loved the choreography and enjoyed the music. "Stereotypical" Barbie (Margot Robbie) lives happily in Barbieland, where most of the women are variations on Barbie and most of the men are Ken (except a comically deadpan Michael Cera as Allan, the forgotten male doll). Her perfect life is"Stereotypical" Barbie (Margot Robbie) lives happily in Barbieland, where most of the women are variations on Barbie and most of the men are Ken (except a comically deadpan Michael Cera as Allan, the forgotten male doll). Her perfect life is upended she and Ken visit the real world. Writers Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig (who also directed) have come up with brilliantly clever ways to upend expectations, while making meaningful statements and providing lots of glee. Robbie makes a perfect Barbie, but it's really Ryan Gosling, as her special Ken, who makes the best impression. He takes a non-descript character and makes him sweetly charming and simply hilarious, a brilliant turn. Gerwig has infused every frame with bright energy, delightful moments and surprisingly subversive observations (esp. the Mattel references). The final dramatic scenes could have been a bit shorter, but the whole movie is filled with lovable whimsy and giddy fun (and a few touches of humanity). A Technicolor Dream
Wow, this movie was a love letter to cinema. From the Kubrick reference at the opening, to the soundstage being 100% real - no cgi for the sets. There were dance sequences like in the olden days (think Grease) and theA Technicolor Dream
Wow, this movie was a love letter to cinema. From the Kubrick reference at the opening, to the soundstage being 100% real - no cgi for the sets. There were dance sequences like in the olden days (think Grease) and the costuming , wow the costuming. Greta Gerwig dug deep to make this masterpiece using all of her technical chops along the way. The casting director also nailed it, everyone was wonderful.

The acting was perfection, I loved seeing the variety of Barbie's on screen and there were so many jokes that would be appropriate for all audiences, this has to be a voluntary PG13 rating as there wasn't swearing or nudity. There was one beach fight amongst the Kens but that's not really violence compared to today's average films, no one was harmed nor any fake blood used.

I actually didn't like the ending at all, and I was quite annoyed that Rhea Perlman played the creator of Barbie but made two quips about the IRS getting her for tax evasion - something Ruth Handler never dealt with. Her problem was with the SEC after she had signed off on a positive Mattel earnings forecast when they knew they were in a down quarter - how's that so tough to explain?

Irregardless, I want to see this movie again. And again. And again...… Expand

Despite being a guy, I found this movie to be funny, meta, deep, and philosophical. Everything in this production blew my mind of how well put together from the set designs to the costuming to the choreography to the entire cast.

This is a Marterpiece. A have the feeling that the people who are bashing it are afraid or dislikeful of the representations it contains. Wheter you like them or not, there is no denying that this is a deep and thoughtful movie. I give it a ten for being, as much as very fun and upbeating, so intentional and dutiful, competent and coherent on conveying a message of self-acceptance and self-knowledge/discovery for both women and men alike. It's a meaningful movie, even if you don't agree with some of the representations it has. It shouldn't be trashed for political or worldview divergences. This movie is, at it's most deep, human.

I don't think it should be carelessly shown to very young children though, because the subject of the plot it very, very dense. It's a bit hard to talk about death with too young children, so maybe PG-13 is in fact a good rating, but it's a mission-impossible to not take a 6yo to watch the latest and most Candy-colored Barbie movie ever!

I will definitely hold this one to my best regards, for it's such a meaningful and delightful movie. The crowd clapped all along and the vibe in the movies was awesome, with the real world barbies of all ages and shapes all colored in pink.… Expand

From the moment the film started, I was captivated by its charm, wit, and humor. Initially, I had some reservations about the potential overload of pink, but I must say, director Greta skillfully used colors to create a visually appealing and immersive world.

The interviews I saw with Greta, where she mentioned the 32 films that influenced "Barbie," had me a bit worried, especially knowing that some of those films didn't resonate with me. But thankfully, the final product had its own unique identity that resonated with my taste. The clever and enjoyable dialogue had me bursting out in genuine laughter throughout the entire screening – it felt like I was sharing the experience with the characters.

Now, let's talk about the cast – Margot Robbie was an absolute perfect choice for the stereotypical Barbie. She effortlessly embodied the iconic image that we all have of the beloved doll. And Ryan Gosling as Ken was just brilliant! His portrayal of the clueless and slightly silly Ken was spot-on, just as I had always imagined the character to be. The intelligence and physicality he brought to the role were truly commendable.

I related to Barbie so much with her existential crisis. We all go through it. Margot Robbie embodied Barbie so perfectly. She was born to play this role. She did it so perfectly. Margot is truly one of the best actresses our days, there is no role she can’t play. She is so dedicated to every character she plays and she makes them her own. She is perfect. It’s a shame she doesn’t have an Oscar yet.
Ryan Gosling, could anyone imagine he would be such a great comic? I knew he is talented but he is just perfect. Anyone who doubted him as a Ken apologize to him right now! I can’t imagine better Ken. He is perfect. He’ll definitely win an Oscar!
America Ferrera, what a performance! She was so good. Her monologue was everything. Her chemistry with Margot and Ariana Greenblatt was great. Ariana is a promising young actress, she will be a big star one day! Every actress and actor was so good. Even tho some had less screen time than others, I think everyone did great with their parts. Greta Gerwig proved once again, she is a genius! In Greta we trust! The movie was incredible! Deserves all the hype it got! I enjoyed it so much! Can’t wait to see it again! From the moment the film started, I was enchanted by the magical world Greta Gerwig crafted on the screen. She brought her unique directorial flair, which perfectly complemented the heartwarming storyline.

Margot Robbie's portrayal of Barbie was nothing short of spectacular! She embodied the essence of Barbie with a radiant charm that made her character feel so relatable and endearing. Her ability to balance Barbie's iconic confidence with vulnerability was a true testament to her talent as an actress.

Ryan Gosling was a delightful surprise as Ken, adding an incredible dash of charm and humor to the movie. The only reason this has a mediocre user score is because of dumb review bombers.

I think a lot of the negative reviews really miss the point of the movie, people saying that the Barbieland segment was so fun and what they expected the movie to be, but then getting pissed that it moved into the real world and changed "for the worst", "got boring", or "was a slog to watch", are the exact reason this movie was made. Actually, I think they do get the point, but they think it's a negative point when really it's the opposite. The "real world" is an accurate representation of the real world, we live in a patriarchal society where teenagers need to be popular and mean to feel any sense of belonging, where mothers are seen as just that and nothing more. That's the point of the movie, and that's why it isn't for kids, it was never even marketed towards kids, just because it features Barbie doesn't make it a "Kid's Movie" it IS a movie about society, about feminism, about patriarchy. The scenes where Ken turned Barbieland into Kendom is a representation of the real world as well, when men don't feel "seen" they make everything about themselves, they were never hated, never belittled, they just weren't the main character for once, the Barbies were and men HATE not being the centre of attention, if you're offended by reading that, then you're the problem.
All the actors and actresses were perfectly cast, the soundtrack was amazing, and the points brought up were valid and eye opening.

People who didn't like this movie, never wanted to in the first place… Expand

Moreover, when the editing is at a fluent pace, you watch the movie breathlessly.
