It feels more like a side-quest and/or spin-off film, at least compared to other solo movies from; 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014) to 'Black Panther' (2018). The movie very much takes place after the events of 'Captain America: Civil War' (2016) where Scott Lang (a very likeable and charming Paul Rudd) is under house arrest, with an ankle bracelet provided by the government so they can keep a close eye on him. He tries to be a good father to his daughter, but his actions in Berlin, where he helped "The Captain" break more than 100 laws can make living a quiet life, not that quiet. Meanwhile, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his daughter, Hope (Evangeline Lily) are speculating about creating a piece of technology to safely transport them to the Quantum Realm, where they are hoping to find Hope's mother, Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), after she shrunk herself almost 30 years ago, and was presumed dead. But, they are not giving up. To keep it short, this is mostly a fun superhero flick. It is definitely the perfect "antidote" for MCU fans after 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018) being too "dour", "depressing" and just "dark". This will - without a doubt - put a smile on your face, and you can sit back and relax and just watch the crazy action scenes involving a lot of surprising creativity with people and objects growing and shrinking. Lily taking on the mantle of The Wasp and teaming up with Scott's Ant-Man definitely works, Rudd and Lily's chemistry adds a lot to this film. The action, especially one chase scene, is exhilarating and a joy to watch. The biggest downside to this film is its villains (yes, there's more than one). Considering we had Killmonger in 'Black Panther' (2018) and the great Thanos in 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018), Marvel was stepping up their villain game, something they had trouble with in the past. The villains here are rather forgettable. One of them, in particular, seems unnecessary to the entire story, but what can you do?

All in all, this is Marvel, once again, going back to their fun roots. 'Black Panther' (2018) took things too seriously, and 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018) set us on a dark path. The creative action, and the humor-filled chemistry between Rudd and Lily will definitely make this one worth-watching.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is guaranteed to be yet another fun blast of size changing from Marvel. By the way, Marvel still hasn't fixed their major release date flaw with the first Ant-Man film by releasing directly right after an Avengers film (in that case, Age of Ultron). It's often the reason why the Ant-Man films often make less money at the box office. Expand

Ant-Man and The Wasp is another charming and fun Marvel superhero movie.

Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne appears as The Wasp, and makes a great duet with Paul Rudd's Scott Lang aka Ant-Man. Together they have to beat black market criminal Sonny Burch (who wants to steal Hank Pym's tech) and a mysterious enemy known as Ghost who can phase through matter. Michael Douglas returns as Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer debuts as Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp.

Similar to the first Ant-Man movie, this sequel is a comedy and a heist film. There is plenty of situational jokes based on Ant-Man's shifting size, and the director has made better and more inventive use of Hank Pym's shrinking technology, particularly in chase scenes.

Unfortunately the overall plot, while not bad per sé, is inconsequential to the wider MCU. The movie ends, the bad guys have been defeated, but nothing and no-one new of importance has been introduced. This movie's plot runs in parallel to Infinity War yet the characters aren't even aware that Thanos in on Earth battling the Avengers and has snapped his fingers. The mid-credits scene though is promising, as it hints at the possibility of Ant-Man becoming a very important character in the 4th Avengers film coming in 2019.

As a stand-alone film, Ant-Man and The Wasp is pretty fun. It just doesn't build on previous Marvel movies' lore, because Ant-Man is detached from other heroes.

But luckily,Ant-Man And The Wasp not only surpasses the first one in basically everything (even the music),but manages to be a delirious time at the movies while still being a Marvel movie that follows the MCU's Path, with an ending that will destroy everyone feeling-wise.
Now,when I said it surpasses the first movie,it DOES improve everything and anything. (Like when you notice some errors in a Videogame Beta and the creators actually listen instead of downgrading everything) The Comedy has gotten a bit more creative (and funny) and it's impressive to look at. Oh,and of course Luis (played by Michael Peña) stole the show. Same thing for the Action (especially if you see this in IMAX 3D). As someone who has never seen the first one in 3D,this may be some of the best 3D I've seen in my life. Not only that, but the story has gotten a bit more fluid, whereas in the first Ant-Man it was a good time with a (kind of) disjointed story. The villain has also been improved. Instead of a dude in a much more powerful suit,we have a femme fatale who can “walk through walls and stuff” while having an interesting moral at the same time (like Killmonger).
Overall...wow… this must be really boring to not see any flaws in a Marvel movie (kind of, there's one I can't get into because Spoilers, although I can say it's about the Timeline),but at the same time,it must be surprising. The movie was a blast in the end and,for curiosity,as a sequel, makes it for one of Marvel’s more creative franchises that the studio should be proud of.

The action sequences between Ghost and Ant-Man and the Wasp were so good, so well choreographed. The acting doesn't disappoint and i'm glad they gave Luis more piece of the action. It knows it's a comic book movie, and it treats itself like one.

Unfortunately the plot falls a bit flat, i didn't really see the need for the Sonny Burch character, that really felt like an unnecessary sub-plot in the end. Which kinda dragged down the movie.

You can sympathize with the villain, she just doesn't want to die, which most people can relate to. But i wish they would have deepen the relationship between Ghost and Foster, would have made for a much better movie.

End of the day it is a very entertaining and funny movie, and that's all i expected from Ant-Man and The Wasp, so i was far from disappointed

The effects were tremendous. Quite a bit of humour but i found with much of it the timing was off so it wasn't that effective.
The chemistry between Evangeline Lily and Paul Rudd is ok but not just there yet for me .
Don't even attempt to try to figure out the science of this film as it is silly even by comic sci-fi standards.
Worth a few watches though .
It fits into the Marvel Universe seamlessly. Stay to the very end of the credits.

The Whole premise is Janet Van Dym Hank Pym's wife is trying to get saved from the Quantam while AntMan is underhouse arrest. The story was simple enough and built
Around it which is why it was so good. The first act was a tad slow but not boring is it set up where the characters are and had some fun action especially with the introduction of the Wasp. The second act was a kind of boring with the pace diping and nothing exciting happening. The third act picked up the pace and the chunk of the action was in the last 30 minutes so that was my favorite part. The villain or antagonist of the movie Ghost wasn't bad but not really that interesting she has a reason to be there but didn't add anything significant with the plot expect for fancy powers which made for good effects.Michael Douglas' performance amd Pual Rudd were the best characters in the movie as they were serious when needed to be and funny when needed to be.The Wasp as I said was cool with as a good enough performance from lilly.Michelle Pfeiffer did well in the role she was given and had good chemistry in the scenes she had with Michael Douglas.
Antman and the Wasp was funnier than the first one but of course its Marvel but It had some out of place humor that took away from the serious moments but of course again its Marvel. This had more action as well but mainly in the last 40 minutes or so because as I said the second act was mostly slow and kind of dragged on.
So what to take away from all of this is that Antman and the wasp is similar to Back to the Future its funny, has a story with a heart and just a plain fun blockbuster.

In my opinion not the best film in the Marvel Franchise but definitely an overall good movie. Ant-man & the wasp had the same fun light hearted tone of the first film, which was a nice change of pace after the more serious toned entries of some of the previous marvel films. Paul Rudd was just as charismatic as he always is, and Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp was more of a true partner then a side character this time around. I enjoyed both newcomers, Laurence Fishburne and Hannah John-Kaman. They both good performances, though I felt like their screen time was too short to really develop their characters. All in all, I would recommend this film to fans of the marvel universe or simply fans of the first Ant-Man. You do not need to see all the other marvel films to enjoy this, but it does help to see the 1st Ant-Man and Captain America Civil war. Expand

This sequel is directed by Peyton Reed wich also directed the first one.
After Scott Lang comeback of the quantum realm, until then impossible, Hope, Scott and Hank Pym, will trie to pull out Janet, the original wasp, from there. To do it so, they will need to get some equipments, face some trouble caused by old situations, and deal with other people that want their stuff. All of that while Scott still is trying to trick the cops and take care of his daughter.
This movie is meant to be fun with zero deepening in the subjects that he stands in, if you are looking for something that is deep and goes beyond the marvel standard this isn't for you, but if you want a fun movie that will not make you think much and have a good time, this may be perfect. It's a lightweight movie, that you can watch, have a deep breath and relax with some fun moments and some fun characters and a simple story.
The actresses and actors are a high point, they are all so cool and fun. Evangeline Lilly is very fun and have great expressions, you totally buy her in the action scenes, she did a really nice job being able to pass emotions and peculiar moments while with Paul, being distrustful but at the same time testing. Paul Rudd isn't very different, he don't have big expressions as Evangeline, but in other hand he have a great comical timing and really pass the nice guy idea, he is also very fun. Michael Douglas was the most serious good guy in the movie but at the same he had to intertwine it with comic moments, he also were able to express emotions in determinated moments. Michelle Pfeiffer had really little time in the movie, i don't think she could pass much emotions as it was suposed to, but considering the movie tone, it was very functional. Michael Peña really deserves a light because he had one job in this movie, make us laugh, and he did it well.
The action scenes are creative, but not that much, i mean, the situation with the size of objects, cars, the increasing and decreasing the size of the things and people is what make the difference here, it is a kind of power that we don't see in other movies with any frequency, so it is not just cool but different as well, but at the same time you feel that it could be better.
The relationship between Scott and Hope is another big point here, the two actors definely have some chemistry wich make the conversations and atittudes among them be not just natural, but pretty.
I get that the point of the movie never was to be deep or explain anything, but i believe that they could have sacrifice some fbi invading Scott's house time, wich happens a lot, to show more and make us feel more about the quantum realm, the quantum realm is what they are talking about the whole movie and what the plot is about, and when they finally reach there, it is beautiful, but it is so fast and don't show almos anything. Janet was there for many and many years, she says that she is changed, but they gave no clue about how she survived there for so long, how that place works, what possibilities it give, considering that the movie is about that place, i really expected them to develop more. The story of the movie doesn't try to surprise us any time, it is very predictable, and it does have some questionable things that may be considered as plot holes. The Ghost character is good, it does have a very clear motivation wich make total sense. The movie also have way to many subplots, every character have a little arc and that may have make the movie get a little swollen. One pretty good thing of the movie is the relationship between the characters, so as the Scott and his daughter, that is formidable. One thing that i found really good here, is the dimension of the story, i like to say that not all super hero movies need to save the world like a lot of them does, this one it is good in this sense, it is just a rescue and assault movie.
The visual effects work in the majority of the movie, in some moments the green screen got to obvious wich bothered me, the Ghost effects i found pretty cool, not just her moviment but that combined with the voice altered really gave a badass looking character. The effects of the the increasing and decreasing the size were pretty good.
The movie is fun, definely give some nice laughs, the action is good, the movie is very episodical and doesn't present nothing new, it was made intended to be just a little adventure with some fun and a family junction. Definely a not very memorable one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A 'Good' film.

Pros: Good action sequences. Good dialogue. Every one puts their all into acting their character. Cons: A film in need of an actual 'Villain'. Ant-man had Yelow Jacket. This film needed 'Something'. Pacing. At no time, even with count downs and timers ticking over in the back ground, did anything feel critical or essential that an action be done 'Now'. The delivery of some of the jokes... enough misses that it becomes obvious. Possibly too much 'Jokey-ness' in the supporting cast. Ant-man is NOT and should never be 'Dead Pool Light'.

By that I mean the principles and theories of the Quantum realm. Honestly, I couldn't understand how some things are related to the others, and how some actions can affect specific matters. Everything seemed messy and preposterous to me. The problem is neither about how scientifically wrong the bases of this world are, I mean it's a Sci-Fi movie, and there must be non realistic representations to a lot of things, nor it's because the explanations we got aren't convincing. But the problem is that there are almost no explanations, nor what happen make any sense. As a Science Fiction movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp is a total misfire. But what about it as a comedy?

The original play it safe, but managed to earn big laughs thanks to the exquisite visual humor, and smart jokes. This one really misses Edgar Wright's touch in the comedic aspect. There are some funny visual gags that landed very well, but they are way less inventive, and less smart than those of the first movie. Unfortunately, these silly jokes are neither hilarious to make me laugh out loud, nor they are plenty to make me forget about the other 70% of the humor that vary between cringe-inducing jokes and failed attempts to recycle some of the best jokes of the first Ant-Man movie, to other jokes that completely missed the mark because of the terrible comedic timing.

The story itself is small-scale, and the plot is very cohesive. That made the drama work pretty well, besides that the entire cast was amazing. Both Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly gave a wonderful charismatic performances, and they have an incredible chemistry between each other. This time we blissed to see glimpses of Michael Douglas's great acting abilities; he really shines in this sequel. Michael Peña is good, but his character, Luis, isn't funny at all this time unlike in the first movie. I also likes the character of Jimmy Woo, played by Randall Park, although the humor we got from him was hit-or-miss for me. The father/daughter relationship between Scott and Cassie is so warm and sweet. It's even better this time, and Abby Ryder Fortson is fantastic!

The action set-pieces aren't extraordinary, but they are truly fine, especially when it comes to the use of visual effects, which were spectacular, by the way. The final action sequence is the only one that is really impressive, which explains why it was used in fifty percent of every trailer for the movie. Unlike the poor illustration of the Quantum realm from the narrative standpoint, it was visually splendid in every sense of the word. From the creative depiction to the consistent use of colors, I was simply in awe of its look.

I don't want to mention anything about the villain, because I don't consider an evil character who do nothing but explains her motives and abilities through some flashbacks in one single monologue as a real villain! I didn't like Hannah John-Kamen's character as the beta villain in Ready Player One, and I hated her in this movie as Ghost I guess, or whatever. I don't put the blame on the actress, though.

Surprisingly, I found that all the main characters are three-dimensional and well-grounded. Their characteristics we knew from the original back in 2015 are established in this sequel, and therefore the characters became more developed.

Overall, I think Ant-Man and the Wasp is a step back from its predecessor, and one of the most disappointing movies for me this year. But most importantly, it's one of the weaker MCU efforts in the last few years, and this is not a good sign at all. Nevertheless, this sequel is by no mean a bad movie, and definitely a fun to watch popcorn flick as all other MCU entries.

He still has the suit and everything, but his days are primarily spent entertaining his daughter and helping Luis with their security company. Eventually, he has a vision of Dr. Pym's wife and he calls him, which results in Hope (the Wasp) knocking him out and bringing him to their lab because they want to rescue Mrs. Pym from the quantum realm. He then eventually gets back into the Ant-Man suit and that's where the film really kicks off. I found the story of this film to be completely and utterly okay. I was entertained. However, I think that this is one of the weakest Marvel stories that has been portrayed on the big screen since perhaps the first Ant-Man. Take Paul Rudd's humor out (which I really do enjoy) and this story is frankly kind of....meh. Our heroes spend a fairly large portion of the film trying to obtain a part of technology necessary to their mission, and then finding a spot to set up the lab and complete the mission, but the villain gives them some trouble along the way. The villain, while somewhat relatable, is once again weak and the other "bad guy" portrayed by Walton Goggins is about as cookie cutter as it gets. There's never really a sense of danger. The villains seem more like annoyances that the heroes have to deal with, and it's always known that they will complete their mission by the end of the story. I can respect that this film does seem fairly self-contained apart from the after-credits scene that ties it in to Avengers: Infinity War, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's just an okay story. Characters: I do really like the character of Scott Lang. His humor is very wholesome and genuine, and he is one of the more relatable heroes in the current MCU. Hope is also a solid partner for him both on missions as the Wasp and otherwise. Also, while a lot of people seem to really like Luis (Michael Pena), I can't stand him. I find him entirely unfunny, and every time he took control of a scene I was just waiting for him to be off screen. Overall: I had a good time watching Ant-Man and the Wasp. It provided what I have come to expect from Marvel films: entertainment. Is it fairly typical? Yeah. Will it go down as one of my favorite Marvel films? Nah. Expand

While it may not have as much humor or originality as its predecessor (an unfortunate side-effect of sequels in general), Marvel Studios' "Ant Man and the Wasp" is sure to entertain both fans of the MCU and newcomers alike.

So is this film good, yes it is, it's not a great movie but I still do really enjoy this movie. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly work very well together and both give their best while performing. Michael douglas and Michael Pena are funny and bring some great one liners and that's something I can give a big praise to in this movie, the humour is always on point and doesn't feel forced and misused. The action scenes are fun and exactly what I wanted to see, the gorgeous visuals and well planned use of cgi never make these scenes feel fake or poorly adapted on the screen. Now as I said this movie is good but I had a lot of problems with it, the shows villains are very cliche and follow the same villain routes and plan outs that you would see in a cartoon show. They also try to make the film feel very serious and dark, but it never pulls off, either its because paul rudd lets off a one liner or michael pena starts talking and their is never any real tensity. One of my other big issues was how they treated the character of ant-man. In the first film we see that he is fairly smart, he's no genius but he is smart, but in this film they treat ant-man almost like and idiot and I didn't like that, he's always the one to make a dumb decision, or not do something correctly and that felt a bit off putting for me.

But overall I do suggest go checking this one out, I did enjoy this movie I don't like it quite as much as the first but it is still a blast to watch and I'm sure will please most followers of the MCU.

Evangeline Lilly really put her stamp on the Wasp. Ghost seem more of the antagonist than the villain. The 1st post credit scene linked itself to the Infinity wars. Also explain early in the movie why Ant-man was missing in action. Ant-man is Marvel’s most kid-friendly franchise in my opinion with its light tone throughout the movie. While Ghost abilities was great it fell short from the recent villains like from Thor, Black Panther, and Infinity wars, this movie is still worth the time to see. Expand

Overall, it was a very good film. The only thing I disliked and disagreed with is the constant monitoring of Lang by the FBI. The many house raids/searches was overused, and took up more time than it should of done. 7/10.

It earns a 7/10.

It has just come off the heels of Infinity War and is the sequel to the sleeper hit of 2015. So, does it live up the hype and does it make a good sequel to Ant-Man? Well, yes in many of the cases and no in a couple. Ant-Man and the Wasp is a refreshing breath of fresh air compared to the grimness of Infinity War and the complex themes of Black Panther. It's a straightforward, fun action romp with the center theme of family taking full center. You don't need to think and you don't need to be serious to have fun. This can also be a downside to it as Ant-Man and the Wasp does fall into the slump of being a typical Marvel movie; which is basically being a solidly made action film with many funny moments, strong main characters, and a few weak villains. This does suck as we had just got the Vulture, Erik Killmonger, and Thanos. Ghost in this movie isn't so much a villain as a side character trying to fight for their own survival. Some of the subplots of the film, including the side villain of Walter Goggins feel a bit flat at times, but it's never poorly done, as both he and the actress playing Ghost give strong performances. And as per usual, some of the jokes do overtake some of the more serious scenes, but this only happens a couple times. NOW ONTO THE GOOD STUFF. Ant-Man and the Wasp is funny, action packed, and sweet at times. Paul Rudd...well, he's Paul Rudd so pretty freakin' great. Evangaline Lily nails Hope, Michael Douglas nails Hank, and all the returning cast come back and give their A-game. So you won't be bored by these character interactions. Michelle Pfiffer is great as Janet. Plain and simple. The action is interesting and spectacular and really nails what Ant-Man is about. The movie is also gorgeous to look at as the direction and cinematography makes every shot look like candy for the eyes. The music is better than the first but not as good as it could be. Also, the story is pretty good too as there is a sense of urgency, but not in a way to stop something, but rather to accomplish something. You want the characters to succeed; even Ghost. It's actually something I haven't seen in a while where you want them not to fight someone but to save the one they love. That whole concept overshadows some of the fight sequences for some nail biting sequences. In the end, Ant-Man and the Wasp is another solid addition to the MCU and you will want to watch it, then watch it again. Expand

While the firstThe trouble with sequels is, they have a tough time living up to the standards set by their predecessors. Very few sequels manage to top the expectations of the audience, and Ant-Man and the Wasp definitely isn't one of them. While the first Ant-Man was a comedic romp with unique action sequences, this second film is ... well, mostly more of the same. It's still lighthearted and comedic, it still has creative action scenes and Paul Rudd is still your awkward petty thief gone superhero. He is a natural in the part as Scott Lang/Ant-man and the chemistry between him and his co-stars is great.

The story itself flows well, even if it isn't anything particularly mind-blowing. The new characters work mostly fine, with the sole exception of (surprise!) the villains! Ghost is terribly underutilized in this film and really does nothing at all. Even the funnily misplaced FBI agent chasing Lang across NY feels like a bigger threat. Another interesting thing to point out is that even if this is a fast film it actually contains quite little superhero action and focuses more on the characters and their relationships.

Sure, this film looks stunning (particularly in the quantum realm) and the acting works very well on all accounts but it just feels too much like a copy of the first film, which is a shame.

Acharam o tom perfeito aqui

I enjoyed 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' just about enough. It's the MCU's weakest film, up until this point at least, so far. I rate the 2015 film quite a bit, it's entertaining and something different, but this sequel kinda felt flat to me for the majority. There's marginally enough there to like though.

Paul Rudd is satisfactory as the lead, while Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michael Peña remain as solid as before. Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne are cool additions, but I can't say their characters are all that memorable - still passable, mind you.

The action is the film's biggest plus. The shrinking stuff always looks good, too. The humour is at a suitable level. Overall, it's an OK watch.

“You can do it. You can do anything. You're the world's greatest grandma”

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ returns in full size form. So, after all the chaos and heartbreak with ‘Infinity War’, Marvel have stepped on the breaks and went back for a safe comedic tone. Basically being it’s own side story in this already big universe.

I enjoyed the first ‘Ant-Man’. Not great by any means and just like everyone else would have loved to see Edgar Wright's version. Reeking of re-writes and a clash of people working on the movie. However, to everyones surprise, was not a complete disaster due to it’s muddled production is unheard of.

The sequel, on the other hand, was...fine. There are plenty of entertaining and hilarious scenes, but nothing beyond that. To be honest, I liked the first a little better, because I can tell the leftover ideas from Wright or any visually cues were still present which kept the overall movie afloat. We also get to see Scott Lang becoming Ant-Man and trying out the suit and his abilities. It was creative and sweet with the father and daughter subplot.

Paul Rudd plays Paul Rud- oh sorry, I mean Scott Lang. Whoopsie daisy. But in all seriousness, I can’t see a character beyond Rudd. Never against him, as I like the actor and a joy to watch. I don’t understand why they dumb down his character, because while not a genius compared to other MCU characters, yet shown some intelligence in the first movie, especially when breaking into houses and impress Hank Pymm (Michael Douglas) so much he gave him the suit. Just to make the other characters look good, I guess? Still, I love Paul Rudd; he brings a goofy charm to his character, at least.

Evangeline Lilly has more to done this time, fighting wise, just without any development or depth for her character to be compelling. Basically ‘bad-ass girl who can beat you up” type of trope. Michael Douglas, another actor I love and respect, spouts out techno jargon that I don’t think he knows what it means. Michael Pena is great though and him telling stories are the best thing in these movies.

Walton Goggins and Michelle Pfeiffer are completely underused here, which is such a waste of talent. Marvel needs to stop underusing talent.

The action scenes were at least fun. The shrinking/growing involving different objects was always thrilling to watch. A little overexposed in the trailers, yet never stopped me from enjoying what’s on screen. Although nothing compares to the battle sequence in the first movie where the whole final act was in a little girls bedroom with a toy train set. Thomas the Tank Engine was added to the mix. I can’t think of any blockbuster that has ended like that. Completely ridiculous, yet refreshing.

Peyton Reed, best known for comedy movies, did the best he could for something not so familiar to him.

Now the character of Ghost, which I thought was the main villain, but when her back story is relieved, not so much. I mean, She had so much potential for greatness if the script did the actress justice, because Hannah John-Kamen was putting her heart and soul into this. A real shame. When reflecting back, her main goal could have been achieved if she asked nicely for help.

I don’t hate the movie, due to the heavy criticism throughout this review. Nothing epic in scale, but the likable cast and action stops it from feeling ant size small. It should keep fans happy until the next installment.

Overall rating: DAMN TRUTH SERUM!

Expand

The Ghost character and storyline is completely unecessary and the forced conflict between Scott and the gang at the beginning really doesn't make sense. Wasp is underwritten and dull considering Lillys talents. It was ok, I would still have purchased a ticket - but it did not have the vibrancy and drive of the first film. Luckily the scenes with Rudd and his family and Luis continue to connect. It doesnt have the humour of Ragnarok, the character of Guardians or the heart of Cap Amer - its just sort of the bland, slightly funny middle. Seems more like missed opportunity. Expand

I think it's the first sequel of the MCU since Iron Man 2 that doesn't feel different from its predecessor.

If you're already inside the world of the MCU obviously you will continue there, otherwise I don't know how a casual viewer can enjoy something that it will not understand at all.

The movie fulfills with the entertainment and the quality of Marvel is still there, but it's only that. There is nothing more worth mentioning, except the mid-credits scene that connects directly with the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

To fully enjoy the movie you have to:
a) turn off your brain b) not question anything after watching the movie

If you'll do so, the score easily will be 7/10. But dare you ask anything like "why" the enjoyment of watching this movie drops.

Reed and Rudd are finally pulling the same joke, what is extracted is a much more resonant message.

Ant-Man And The Wasp

Reed is literally improvising, in both the set and I compare to his previous installment, and this time, finally, in sync with Paul Rudd, the content that they nod to and have passed it as their "all-in" bet, is a humble brag worth exploring for its empathy and not the laughs. There are very few films that moves with such zip and especially when they have a light humor and higher stakes on their side, this feels like a week day in the superhero community. And if we look at it as the part of the MCU series, and we should always, it is the perfect after party to the jarring impact left by Josh Brolin in Infinity War.

Besides how often do you see a superhero running away in order to not get scolded by a teacher? The first half is basically knocking on each character's door, where the cards are revealed up front about everything and everyone, no matter how hard they try, "come on, man I thought you were cool." exhales Rudd to Laurence Fishburne. Unlike other Marvel chapters, the humor comes in smooth and never feels like they are going out of their way, even when they are, "It's a truth serum." gets its own arc.

One of the major disappointment is, not the build up of dramatic scenes or the tease that Peyton Redd, the director, lacks in his vocab, but the antagonist which makes us feel exactly like the writers were feeling whilst writing it down, still trying to figure her way out, The Ghost, is dead at basically anything. This entirely daughter-love driven content never fully grasps the momentum it should carry, the only relationship that comes out with the "World's Best Grandma" trophy, is of Rudd and Abby Ryder Fortson who should have been his partner and instead it is Ant-Man And The Wasp.

Neither worse nor better then the first.
Michael Pena still steals the show, Paul Rudd and the other cast did well, also a solid story...
It's more of a family movie which I actually like and also recommend!

Pros:Enjoyable, fun, some scenes made me laugh my ass off, faster paced than the first,Wasp stole the entire film, cool fight scenes, the cast was brilliant, the cgi looked fantastic, the motion capture was mind boggling as hell,it was crazy.
Cons:A lot,no spoiler but really nothing happened in the film(except the first end credits scene),the plot was so monotonous and sometimes messy that the film had no impact,no tension at all. There was really no real antagonist in the film.Ghost was very intriguing and sympathetic but to me i wouldn't consider her as a villain, her's character development was really poor and rushed, there was one scene that her back story was just retold and it should have been so much better instead of this,it was so lazy,c'mon.Quantum Realm was completely wasted in this film, the first Antman was really good at showing us a glim of Quantum Realm, but in the film,we still knew very little about it,which was so unfortunate cuz it had so much potential. The last 30 minutes completely dropped the balls to me,and many things don't make sense(For example:No major spoil:Why does Michelle Pfeiffer's still have all of those make ups perfectly after all those years."),they didn't explain this, and we have to accept.
Overall:To me Antman and The Waspuel was no where near as good as the first, the first one had a more coherent story,a much better plot, this one was enjoyable and fun but failed in story perspective

Ant Man and the Wasp is a fun movie at certain times, and boring in others, it does not show us anything other than what was presented in the trailers.

Also Ant-Man's no showing for Infinity War for this movie was not a great idea. The events that transpire feel so minor in comparison to that movie and having this release after IW was a bad move on Marvels part. This movie really should have been released prob late last year to flow better with Infinity War. Instead it's just a lackluster sequel and the first miss for Marvel in a few years. Expand

Although reasonably well acted the movie is otherwise lackluster in almost every regard. An almost completely isolated and minimal story, this movie will leave you wondering why they bothered making aside from filling the gap between movies.

Nothing directly wrong with it, just not good. I dont regret seeing it but wouldnt tell others to watch it.

For those of you who are still traumatized from Infinity War and need something to ease the pain then enjoy Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Ant-Man is back, only this time he's got a partner. Not up there with Marvel's best, and it's not quite as good as the first Ant-Man. Sure you might start to forget it as soon as you leave the cinema lobby but it's entertaining and enjoyable in the moment. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is suffering the consequences from his actions in Civil War. Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) show up, needing his help for an urgent mission.

It's got all the charm of the first Ant-Man but more quantum this and quantum that. Honestly the first half of the movie is a little bland, all the setup eventually pays off but the story felt way too dragged out. Paul Rudd is doing his thing, Michael Peña doing his thing and although not all the jokes land there's enough action to keep you interested. It's fun because it doesn't feature a life threatening city destroying CGI mess of a villain for the last 20 minutes. I loved the miniature car chases, and I loved the addition of The Wasp. Evangeline Lilly holds her own and could have been used a little more to be honest. It's not just Ant-Man, it's Ant-Man and the Wasp. Entertaining in the moment and recommended for the marvel fans.

I haven't seen the first Ant-Man movie since it was in the theaters. I liked it, kind of, but I will admit it is one of the weakest films of the MCU cannon and maybe when I re-watch it I'll like it less. But regardless of that...yeah this one is just really bleh honestly. It's surprisingly watchable, but overall I'd say it's up there with Age of Ultron and the second Thor movie as the worst of the MCU. Not exactly terrible, but definitely mediocre.

The acting overall is hit or miss. Paul Rudd is alright as Ant-Man, kind of wonky in parts, but overall passable. Evangeline Lilly is pretty good here, even though Hope is basically the "bland heroine" stereotype (which somehow is a reoccurring thing for Lilly given the Hobbit films). Rudd and Lilly do have decent chemistry, not great, kind of over-praised by critics on that end, but definitely elevate their nothing romance. Michael Douglass is bleh here, Hannah John-Kamen tries here but she's not that great, Abby Ryder Forston is alright for child acting, definitely tolerable, Laurence Fishburne underacts here, which is kind of surprising, Walton Goggins is alright here but I'm too distracted by him looking like a rugged Chip Esten, Michael Pena...look I like him as an actor, but he gets nothing here in terms of comedy here, a few laughs but not much, although it is more than I can say from Randall Park, who just gets nothing from me.

One of the things that I liked a lot from the first Ant-Man is the action scenes and the use of the suit is a major highlight for the first film. It was fun to watch and felt like nothing I've seen before in a movie. Here, the acting just felt stale. Not exactly terrible but not much fun was had, outside of the car chase scene in the third act which was genuinely fun. It honestly felt like director Peyton Reed and company didn't really try when doing the action scenes, even though there are loads of opportunity to make a ton of fun action scenes, especially for the Wasp! And as per usual with a lot of the MCU films that aren't helped by James Gunn (FWI Disney needs to grow a pair and not fire people for bad jokes. Yes I am defending Rosanne get off my case!), the cinematography and shot composition is just bland and lifeless, feeling more like a lame comedy movie. Speaking of comedy, it's largely safe, bland, and miss. There are some chuckles and laughs from me, but overall the comedy felt like it was meant to appease test audiences.

The writing was surprising with how bad it is. I say surprising because while the first Ant-Man had a super bland story, there was at least an attempt at writing characters where Scott Lang was going through a redemption ark. Here no one gets developed, they are all cardboard cut out and flat as hell. Scott Lang feels more like a nothing character and more like a fill in for Paul Rudd to be in the MCU. Hank Pym probably had a story ark but the writers made no effort in developing him. Hope is just a bland heroine. And the villains are not very good either. Keyword being villains, because this movie is padded with unnecessary bad guys! Ghost's motivation at least made sense, which is a step above the generic rich **** that was Corey Stull's character in the first film, however they botch it up because Ghost is an irrational person who does dumb things even though it could have ended if she just stopped and heard someone out for once! Sonny was completely worthless and practically pointless in this film. It legitimately gave me flashbacks to Sam Rockwell's character in Iron Man 2, but at least Sam Rockwell elevated that role honestly! Jimmy Woo, while not a bad guy and more of a monkey wrench, also felt practically pointless too and unnecessary conflict as well other than reminding the audience of the stupid accords from Civil War that was brushed aside in Infinity War. And speaking of forced conflicts, if people would have just talked things out so much of the conflicts would have changed everything! Why didn't Hank and Hope just waited the THREE DAYS Steve had of his house arrest is beyond me! So many of these characters act like idiots here!

I should be more harsher than I am because there are some funny moments here and there and the third act is legitimately entertaining, but overall just a lazy sequel to an already average film. The only reason this movie would work is because it's part of the MCU, but even some of the weaker films are more enjoyable than this really. Skip it unless you are a completionist.

Its worse than the original Ant-man which at least had a coherent story and was made with enough care given its development troubles with Edgar Wright. Peyton Reed shows his limitations in this film where the plot doesn't really matter, the characters dont really have any arcs (or if there are any, its literally the same as the first film). There nothing really to say except its a paint by number Marvel formulaic film meaning: jokes every 2 minutes, convoluted plot, borderline terrible generic CGI, characters that are charming but lack any emotional heft, dumb villains and character you will quickly forget and a wooden plot you can probably write better in an hour. Again, there some good action, some good lines and yeah the same stuff. AMATW doesn't add anything to the ongoing Marvel storyline, in fact you just need to see the end-credit scene for any sort of narrative weight to matter. I wish we could go back to the OG marvel films like Iron Man, Captain America:First Avenger or even Civil War where the films had a good narrative, character interactions and well-made scenes. It seems a long time ago now that those films actually felt like films. Now they all feel like **** episodes of a generic TV show. If Marvel continues this trend, it will be the law of diminishing returns. Expand

Expand

I went to watch this, because of the generally favourable reviews. Boy was I in for a great disappointment. This doesn't feel like a good Marvel film. It's all mindless action from beginning to the end. Chasing after the miniature of the lab building like a game of soccer. It's so bad that it feels like a 90s grade B movie, eg a little like 'Spy Kids', all actions and no depth.

I do like some of the lines which are genuinely funny and natural. A few lines are rather cheesy. Character development is close to none, meaning you get stereotyped characters which feels like they are only there to fill the roles. It's a very bad thing if you watch a movie and don't feel inclined to care about its characters, unlike the Avengers series. The villains are especially boring and seriously under developed.

I wished I have never gone to watch this.
