While it's not an entirely brilliant game, the multiplayer feature and the sharper graphics make this the essential version to own.
-
While State of Emergency's arcadelike objectives and somewhat simplistic fighting system can make it feel a little shallow, the game's technical strengths, satisfying displays of comically overblown violence, and budget price make it worth a look.
-
Though the Chaos mode great fun, there really isn't much to enjoy beyond this. The wealth of game modes, secrets and graphical wizardry we saw in "Kung-fu Chaos" is simply lacking in State of Emergency.
-
It's too one dimensional – violence being the answer to all the Revolution missions without a stealth objection or changing environments to consider.
-
Official Xbox MagazineAfter 20 minutes of watching people run around crazily and aimlessly, you realize that they're mostly just window dressing for very basic, uninspired, beat-'em-up gameplay that we've all played before. [May 2003, p.74]
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyThere's not much of an actual game here. [May 2003, p.134]
-
GMR MagazineIt never really evolves beyond the point-to-point errand running through relatively small environments. [May 2003, p.69]

Apr 28, 2021I have great memories about this game and the hours I invested in it and I would play it again to remember the past

MattJul 6, 2003People say this game gets repetitive, and I'll give them that. But I still think it's fun to run around shooting people.

ArmandilloD.Sep 7, 2005This game is OK for the first couple of hours... after that, it really sucks. You have to do almost same thing, again, agian and again...
