This game was an extremely fun game. The mechanics, customizations, and improvement really made a great game. The story however disappointed me, it did not live up to the potential it had on it and i truly wish more time was put into this. This is a good game don't get me wrong but it could have and should have been so much more!! The first Knight of the Old Republic is much much better.

Bioware shouldve made the sequel, this is nothing but a rerun with some new forcepowers but with less of everythning else (gamehours, sidequests, personality, story etc) except bugs and technical issues. You might as well rent it a couple of days.

call it KOTOR 1,5, Obsidian really took the easy way out. PROS: gameplay is as good as the first, item crafting, more force powers, higher character levels, good/evil choices affect the storyline more. CONS: same game engine without upgrades, same graphic problems, planets are a lot smaller, (on Korriban they even used the exact same locations though this time it's more than twice as call it KOTOR 1,5, Obsidian really took the easy way out. A train wreck of a game. The story is at times compelling, but lacks any sort of coherent theme and the resolution is a mere afterthought. The engine is dated and barely functional at times. Often cutscenes would crash the game and characters would get trapped in walls. That said, the crashes are not as prevelant as in Kotor I and the dialogue trees seem to be deeper and more rewarding A train wreck of a game. This game did a lot of things right. Unfortunately, it also did a lot of things wrong (a LOT). Character dialogue was awkward at best, the combat has become excessively easy (Stasis Field has got to be one of the most broken powers ever), and after seeing the ''ending,'' I felt like the developer had come out of the TV and nutchecked me. The only reason it gets a 7 is for the story UP UNTIL Citadel Station part II. Kreia is the only character I felt like I was actually conversing with, and a couple of her comments actually make you think. Also, seeing the far-reaching consequences of your actions can be both very satisfying and quite dismaying, something that KotOR I (kill a couple people in the bar, no one bats an eyelash) didn't convey as well. Still, this game is love it or hate it. To paraphrase an in-game conversation, "Can you teach me to enjoy KotOR II?" "No, I can only TEACH you to play Pazaak." "Well, can you TEACH me to play Pazaak?" "Now you're starting to understand..." Expand

Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is one of the games I might come back to, just because everyone says the story is so amazing. When I was playing it, though, it just felt slow and drawn out, so I lost interest.

Consider this game as the Expansion Pack for Part 1. With some polish. If they do make a part 3, i would hope to see more frames per second in terms of character animation; instead of the clunky movement you see at times during the game.

I loved this game, I played it 4 times and will more when I can. But there is a problem. This game could've been so much more. With the storyline, combat and main character development that the first game introduced yet could not perfect. It is sad to see that the sequel has the same characteristics of PSP quality loading times, smaller areas, bugs and general incomplete feel. Still gamers will like the game, but will still feel enraged at the glitches and flaws that could've possibly been eliminated. Although we may blame LucasArts for rushing the game, we can only play the game for the what it is, and because of that I cannot recommend this game no matter how much I liked it. Expand

A fine RPG - it's just not the earth-shattering sequel that people might expect. [Feb 2005, p.100]

It's fair to say that the fans have once again been spoilt by such a magnificent offering. There's not even a hint of disappointment here. [Feb 2005, p.112]

With around 50 hours (if you play both sides) of immersive RPGing and several different possible conclusions for both Dark and Light side players, you're getting good value for money. Just try not to sweat the ending too much.
