Not as good as it's predecessor, the tutorial section (first two planets) of this game are only worth doing once, but everything else I could do a lot (I've beat the game twice). Once again, It's purely strategic and it shines as an actual RPG (see my review of the first game for details).

But because of this, people are trying to kill and/or imprison you left to right, and the characters, no matter what side you're on, follow. This game had more feats, awesome force powers, more upgrades, and VERY likeable and unlikable characters. Atton being my favorite, and Kreia being my least favorite. The game had new music which I actually uploaded to my mp3, and a big plot twist toward the end. Even though we kinda saw it coming, but it was a blurry line. It may start off pretty slow, but you'll definitely get into it. It has about 30 hours of gameplay including the sidequests! Ever played dungeons and dragons? The board game? The combat is exactly like that, but it does the rolling and arithmetic for you in less than a quarter of a second! The game can also be quite funny too. When you walk in on the Handmaiden, she says she's training as a way not to be bored. Then you can say "Well you can always play pazaak with Atton" Then all of a sudden you hear Atton yell at the droid "What do you mean pazaak? What, AGAIN?!" The game, I am proud to say, shall always be on my game shelf. Expand

But in the end those weak beginnings have great story potential. Depending on which path you choose to follow. . But as the game unfolded I found in some ways II was a much better game. And this from a person who loves the original KOTOR. I especially love how they made the neutral path have it's own special properties and have it's own unique plot results. But mostly how it affected powers differently.

Story is still a big thing. The game still has huge replayablitiy potential. It still has great mini games. The companion stories are great. But the best part is you can do what you want, and be your own Jedi. And the game and story feels like it belongs in the Star Wars universe

This game is what made people so happy about the potential for a Star Wars MMO. Sadly SWTOR failed to deliver on even half of what the KOTOR series was.

Remember many actions have repercussions, that affect story. This game even can have you form romantic relationships with the companions. And depending on how you interact can have some very unforeseen types of interactions. Which can be quite disturbing.

But if your looking for a Star Wars RPG this game and it's predecessor is a must have.

The first KOTOR game is cosidered by many to be the best Star Wars game, and one of the best RPGs of all time. Worry not this sequel is actually better than the first in every way. The story is darker and the characters deeper. The combat is tighter and less frustrating. The voice acting and score are amazing. The graphics are also something I have to give praise to, they're absolutely gorgeous at times, no they aren't as good as todays games and there are some rough areas, but when you remember that this is an Xbox title and not an Xbox 360 title you'll find some truly jaw droppingly gorgeous moments. The only thing I can find that the first game did better is the fact that it was less glitchy, that's right glitches and slowdown are a regular occurrence, but they don't detract from the experience much at all. To me, this is this is the definitive Star Wars RPG, so is the game it is a sequel to. It makes you feel like it is an actual Star Wars movie, made by those little geniuses at Bio-ware, you are the main character, whether or not you choose to fall to the dark-side or follow the path of the light is entirely up to YOU.

The tutorial planets can get boring, but that's just like the beginning of ANYTHING, just stick around and you will see, the tutorial planets are just the gates to what this game holds.

And combat is just scratching the surface, the characters both in this game and the first, have so much detail, and development. They actually have personalities and quirks, you need to get to know them if you are going to use them helpfully.

In KotOR II, there are turns between fighters, there is an initiative roll, virtual dice rolls to do damage, see if you missed or just unlocked a door successfully, like any classic game of D&D. All virtual of course, at the players convenience.

Just try this game, and the first one too for that matter, if you like Star Wars, and (maybe) are over 10 you will love, or at least, like it. I would just love to spoil the ending, BUT. I. WON'T.

Amazing game, a couple glitches throughout were damaging to the story, and the ending was a total let down, but I think it was better than the first and that was a great game. Time to play as the bad guys!!!

I love how one reviewer gives this game a 2 yet mentions that he has played through it TWICE. Gee, if it really stunk, then maybe you wouldn't have devoted 60+ hours to this game, now would you? The only reason I don't give this a 10 is the outdated graphics, which really, really need an upgrade (the Neverwinter Nights engine is getting a bit long in the tooth, seeing as I love how one reviewer gives this game a 2 yet mentions that he has played through it TWICE. I can't wait to see the next game, with a new engine and maybe on a new platform (Xbox 2?). This game does feel a bit rushed and less polished than the predecessor, but it still pulls off a very compelling RPG/Star Wars experience. Expand

Very enjoyable - I loved the first one - and one of the few games that gets me emotionally involved: I really care for these characters (at least the light sided ones). Which makes the flaws even harder to take - the let down ending which ends in a flash. Where were the characters meeting up to celebate and interact? There are other flaws: it's full of bugs though the cheats make you super powerful which is fun. Also, there are too many unnecessary characters: GO-TO was unused at any time. Also, Bao-Dor wouldn't speak to me and wouldn't follow me, even as a Jedi so I never got to use him at all, he would just stand at the start of the game and not move. The myriad of equipment is great, but all the types of armour are superfluous - with so many Jedi and robots they are useless. And for all the different stims and gloves, battles can become repetitive: force lightning and a saber flurry. There is also perhaps too much discussion which goes on and on and I have to say I gave up on - the story was a bit too clever and convoluted for its own good. But these are minor quibbles. Having said all that, it is a compelling game, addictive and I was sad when it ended (especially on such a downbeat note). Expand

This game did a lot of things right. Unfortunately, it also did a lot of things wrong (a LOT). Character dialogue was awkward at best, the combat has become excessively easy (Stasis Field has got to be one of the most broken powers ever), and after seeing the ''ending,'' I felt like the developer had come out of the TV and nutchecked me. The only reason it gets a 7 is for the story UP UNTIL Citadel Station part II. Kreia is the only character I felt like I was actually conversing with, and a couple of her comments actually make you think. Also, seeing the far-reaching consequences of your actions can be both very satisfying and quite dismaying, something that KotOR I (kill a couple people in the bar, no one bats an eyelash) didn't convey as well. Still, this game is love it or hate it. To paraphrase an in-game conversation, "Can you teach me to enjoy KotOR II?" "No, I can only TEACH you to play Pazaak." "Well, can you TEACH me to play Pazaak?" "Now you're starting to understand..." Expand

Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is one of the games I might come back to, just because everyone says the story is so amazing. When I was playing it, though, it just felt slow and drawn out, so I lost interest.

Consider this game as the Expansion Pack for Part 1. With some polish. If they do make a part 3, i would hope to see more frames per second in terms of character animation; instead of the clunky movement you see at times during the game.

I loved this game, I played it 4 times and will more when I can. But there is a problem. This game could've been so much more. With the storyline, combat and main character development that the first game introduced yet could not perfect. It is sad to see that the sequel has the same characteristics of PSP quality loading times, smaller areas, bugs and general incomplete feel. Still gamers will like the game, but will still feel enraged at the glitches and flaws that could've possibly been eliminated. Although we may blame LucasArts for rushing the game, we can only play the game for the what it is, and because of that I cannot recommend this game no matter how much I liked it. Expand

Awesome. True to Star Wars and KOTOR. Story was very compelling and a lot more exciting than KOTOR. The only bad: Very, very bad choice of colour for text and menus. The first game's calm, and easy-on-the-eyes made use of brilliant shades of blue. I know, seems stupid. But it made a huge difference to me.

The only real problem is that not enough of the game changed.

PROS: There so much more to do. you could build and breakdown stuff with the workbench rather than simply just upgrading. The fighting style was more complex and you could even train some of your party in the ways of the Jedi or Dark Jedi, which was an excellent addition to the Knights Of The Old Republic Saga. You also get to hang out with the Mandalorans and even Mandalore himself. You get to see what goes on in the Ebon Hawk between everyone else in your party, which is very fun to see and it also makes the game feal and look more real. Plus, Atton's dailog was perfact. And it had cameos to tell where the characters from the first Knights Of The Old Republic had gone.

CONS: It takes 10 to 15 hours of gameplay to get your lightsaber which is very frustrating. There is a ton of glitches but some are funny like when Atton is typing on the Ebon Hawk computer but he isn't he is typing on nothing, the computer wasn't there. And one of my favorites is Bao Dur's floating robot kept going through Goto. Another issue was when Atton killed something or was about to attack he constantly said, "it time to even the odds," which was very gay. But one of several major issues I had was that the storyline was not at all remotely as good as the first Knights Of The Old Republic which made me fealing empty and even worse is at the end when you are on Malacore you are like a God it is near impossible to be killed by anyone or anything. The story had become repetitive over the coarse of the game which was depressing.

CONCLUSION: I give the game an 8 out of 10 because I felt that the game had enough positive sides that I could give it a slight break, even though the negatives slightly outway the positives, but not by much.

With around 50 hours (if you play both sides) of immersive RPGing and several different possible conclusions for both Dark and Light side players, you're getting good value for money. Just try not to sweat the ending too much.
