  1. How can anyone justify dropping $50 on a ninja game with a broken camera, un uber weapon that makes most of the game a cakewalk, some twitchy control and only a so-so presentation? I certainly can't.

If the nausea-inducing camera doesn't kill your patience, the wacky wall-running and platform-leaping sections will. [May 2005, p.125]

A comedy of errors, but without the humor. From the camera to the movement to the over-powered tetsugen to the uninspired nature of pretty much everything this game disappoints in so many different ways.
  4. 40
Yet the biggest sticking point is the camera, which has trouble remaining steady in tight spots or in close encounters, making many sequences needlessly frustrating.
  5. It has some good ideas but they're overthrown by a particular lack of anything that stands out, aside from the herky-jerky camera and the occasional booty shots.
  6. Game Informer

A miserable piece of digital vomit. [Apr 2005, p.120]
  7. At $50, this game is a total joke.

A poor Tenchu wannabe that simply fails to deliver enjoyment. We played it because we had to - you don't. [May 2005, p.96]
  9. Official Xbox Magazine

An all-killing, all-leaping game in which you can neither kill nor leap...that truly does spell the end of honor for this Ninja. [Apr 2005, p.87]

There is only one game where I've ever skipped areas I wanted to explore due to not wanting to deal with the camera. This is it.

I would sugest playing on easy if you are struggling as easy is more like normal anyway and the story, beutiful art design and vicious combat is worth experiencing. There are characters and story in this game that will stick with you for years. The protagonist herself is miles better and more interesting than any protagonist in modern games with their modern writing.
This also requires the ability to learn the controls ( like RE4) another thing games media dosent like. Games today all need to control in some fashion like fortnite or COD or it's crap in their eyes..Red Ninja has no option to adjust horizontal camera movement, so if your to basic to be able to compensate and learn something this simple than just watch IGN on what other game you should play.

Would have been in good and awesome game if it wasn't for that awful platforming where you're gonna pull your hair out. The problem with theWould have been in good and awesome game if it wasn't for that awful platforming where you're gonna pull your hair out. The problem with the platformingit's it's not like Prince of Persia or Assassin's creed where have some kind of control and you know exactly what's gonna happen but in disc game it always feels a bit luck based if she's gonna do what you want to do. The stealth part of the game is good but the platform is so bad that you wouldn't want to complete it Full Review »

Although the graphics are PS1-like, and the overall length too short, I thought the story was great and I liked the option of being stealthy Although the graphics are PS1-like, and the overall length too short, I thought the story was great and I liked the option of being stealthy or not. The wire makes for fights with good variety (trip them, lop heads, hang them, wire strafing...). Overall gameplay was too easy but the Boss flights in the later stages 5,6,7 were very challenging until you figured out the tricks. With all the epic games out like Jade,Kotor2,Doom out now - it's was good to have one that's low pressure and fun. That said, it's not worth the $49, but well worth a purchase when used. Full Review »
