Other baseball games might have a more unique feature or two, and several absolutely have better graphics, but only High Heat delivers such consistently riveting gameplay.

Everything a good sports title should be. We'd love to see online play in 2005, but this is a true diamond. [May 2003, p.51]
  3. Baseball is about the battle between the pitcher and hitter and HH does this extremely well. Also with the wealth of sliders on key areas of gameplay, HH makes for an extremely customizable gaming experience.

Still the best baseball sim there is. [Apr 2003, p.65]

While the visuals and sound are inferior to some of the other baseball titles this year, High Heat still offers the most realistic representation of baseball.

If you can get over the graphics and little glitches, High Heat is an exceptionally deep and fun baseball game that will please baseball purists more than any other baseball game. [Apr 2003, p.81]
  7. Puts authentic gameplay ahead of any other detail.

It's clear that the good people who made this game are baseball enthusiasts, and that's important. [Apr/May 2003, p.89]
  9. HHB does a fantastically thorough job with the gameplay options. Practically every aspect of the game is fully customizable from the human and CPU batting, pitching, fielding abilities to the running and throwing speeds of both the CPU and human players.
  10. Can't measure up graphically to the competition, and though this is a solid baseball title, it can be a little arcade-like and easy.

Good, but not good enough. [Apr 2003, p.93]

Unlike other companies that concentrate on visuals, High Heat puts its energies on the fundamentals that make a great baseball game. [Apr 2003, p.71]

A slight improvement from last year's game but a few new tweaks do not a new game make.
  14. In all fairness, this game simply doesn’t measure up to the competition or even the expected level of improvement you should get with a new installment within an established series.

I don't really understand all the love this game gets. The animation and graphics are way below par. The gameplay is functional, but I don't really understand all the love this game gets. The animation and graphics are way below par. The gameplay is functional, but nothing special. I don't like the pitching system at all. It doesn't give you enough freedom. But the batting does seem right. Trying to read pitches is made challenging and fun. I played High Heat after MVP 05, and MLB 2k5, and both those games are way better. Full Review »

Pretty fun game. only problem i find is that its too easy to run up the score, even off of rookie. also, i don't have the book for the game.
