    I played the Game on the original XBOX, back at 2013, at that time i already played some shooters and i have to say, i wasn't the biggest fan of the genre. But damn, Halo instantly changed my mind! With Halo: CE Microsoft/ Bungie created an incredible Masterpiece! If it's the Gameplay, the breathtakeing Soundtrack or the interesting story about the Humans and the Covenant finding theI played the Game on the original XBOX, back at 2013, at that time i already played some shooters and i have to say, i wasn't the biggest fan of the genre. The only critic i have about Halo: CE is that some sections of the game seems drawn out and a bit repetitive. Para el 2019 tuve la oportunidad de comprarme una xbox one . Siempre quise una xbox desde la clásica y La 360. Shooting rivoluzionario, grafica eccellente, multiplayer divertente anche se giocato solo in locale, storia bellissima, un arsenario varegato e sopratutto è stato il primo FPS ad aggiungere grandi mappe di gioco e veicoli utilizzabili, tutto questo però confrontando il gioco come prodotto uscito nel 2001 quindi senza paragonarlo a titoli più recenti ma solo conIl miglior FPS mai creato!!!     The level design gets a bit repetitive though.

    I really enjoyed and loved the story. However, the maps were all a reskin of the last. There was like three different locations, and then everything else was a clone of the last. This was an old Xbox game, so I guess too much can't be expected. But that is the only problem I had with the game. The game was just rinse and repeat. But the combat was still fun.     The game that got me onboard with the Xbox console and the FPS genre. The game is a master piece. From it's graphically fidelity that was limited to 64 GB of RAM, to it's iconic musical score, to it's engaging single player campaign, to it's transcendent multiplayer set up.

    Halo is the GoldenEye of its time. It is an absolute must-play title, bar none.

But i just think Halo was supremly cinematic in-game aswell as in cutscenes. The opening sequence of the mission "The Silent Cartographer" really brings this point home. It having been a launch title for the original Xbox it holds up pretty well still. I'm really glad they changed Cortana's design in newer games even though I love purple.     Halo is the franchise i ever love, but that game, in my opinion is one of the top 3 game of the series, the soundtrack is spotless and the adventure is epic.

    Nunca he sido fan de Xbox, ni de Gears, y ni tan siquiera del propio Halo (es por eso que me lo pasé casi 20 años después de que salió). Sin embargo he de reconocer que es un juegazo. Gran historia, ambientación, música y muy potentes gráficos para la época. Los shooters en primera persona no son Santo de mi devoción precisamente, pero tengo que decir que tiene un gran gameplay, aunqueNunca he sido fan de Xbox, ni de Gears, y ni tan siquiera del propio Halo (es por eso que me lo pasé casi 20 años después de que salió). Sin embargo he de reconocer que es un juegazo. Gran historia, ambientación, música y muy potentes gráficos para la época.     Ningún videojuego es perfecto, y este obviamente no es la excepción.
    Su principal problema es el diseño de los mapas de las misiones (dos misiones en específico), que se vio muy afectado por el corto tiempo de desarrollo del juego. A mí personalmente me gustan todos los niveles, pero viéndolo desde una perspectiva más "objetiva", los niveles "La Biblioteca" y "Dos traiciones" son    Ningún videojuego es perfecto, y este obviamente no es la excepción.
    Su principal problema es el diseño de los mapas de las misiones (dos misiones en específico), que se vio muy afectado por el corto tiempo de desarrollo del juego. A mí personalmente me gustan todos los niveles, pero viéndolo desde una perspectiva más "objetiva", los niveles "La Biblioteca" y "Dos traiciones" son horrorosos, y lo peor es que este último es exactamente el mismo nivel que "Ataque a la sala de control" (que ya de por sí era repetitivo) solo que con otra ambientación y con el Flood.
    Fuera de ese problema principal solo hay errores pequeños, como el hecho de que un vehículo a 0.0001 km/h pueda matarte, que la Magnum esté OP y que los Hunters en Legendario sean tan vulnerables si usas la Magnum o el Francotirador.
    Esos problemas al final terminan opacados por muchísimas virtudes; la agilización de los FPS en consolas, una historia interesente, giros argumentales muy bien logrados, un multijugador variado, personalizable y adictivo, y mecánicas innovadoras que aún en 2019 encuentras en juegos actuales.
    Entiendo que a muchos no les guste el juego, pero una cosa es que no te guste y otra es que pienses que es un juego sobrevalorado e ignores el ENORME impacto que tuvo en la industria de los videojuegos.

    Still Amazing. Halo CE is one of my favorite video games, and my favorite gaming franchise of all time. This games, halo 2, and halo 3 are the few video games I've revisited dozens of times. it's still as fun to play now as it was 14 years ago when I first played it.

    18 Years late to the party but I've finally arrived.

    There is still alot of good in this game, but there is also a tonne of stuff that wouldn't fly now at all. The shooting and the guns in this game are still amazing, I was astounded at how much variety there is in the guns and how the game really forces you in a good way to use all of them.     There is still alot of good in this game, but there is also a tonne of stuff that wouldn't fly now at all.

    The shooting and the guns in this game are still amazing, I was astounded at how much variety there is in the guns and how the game really forces you in a good way to use all of them. Most shooters I tend to stick to one or two guns and I went in to this game with that mentality and I was getting a bit upset at the lack of ammo; it forced me to changed the way I play and that was refreshing, especially given how old this game is.

    The story was a bit underwhelming, i was expecting more from this legendary game.

    The graphics are fairly dated, that's fine, it's an old game.

    The levels are pretty boring and there is so much repetition and reusing levels, I found it really grating to play through the same levels over and over, felt lazy.

    I don't like the vehicles at all, avoided using them and almost didn't finish the game based on how awkward the warthog is to control, after reading up on it a bit I finally figured it out and it's so unintuitive how they determine those controls I really can't even believe it made it into the game. It's mind boggling that they give so many control options for every other aspect of the game yet they don't let you change those driving controls at all.    … Expand

    The story is phenomenal absolutely one the best games in the world. This game had changed entire video game development. Great campaign and mltiplayer with great maps and gameplay and gunplay. The only thing that miss is this game is so addicting.

    The start to a truly glorious series. Master chief is one of the coolest protagonists ever and you start your adventure into the lore of Halo. High recommended.

But then my friend and I played split screen coop for the first time, we basically played the whole game over a weekend, 8 hours of awesome. The design was from the get go for the game controller, the weapons design and accuracy, regenerating shield was all helping create a controller friendly game versus a twitch heavy "I shot you first" mouse shooter. The additional one-button actions like throwing a grenade and melee attacks with the simple "swap to other weapon" inventory complete the circle of a shooter where you spend more time devising your tactics while your shield recharges. Vehicles are a fun addition. The story is quite interesting although with some obvious misses. Having Cortana providing tactical support is a welcome addition to the up to that point empty experience of the typical FPS of the era. Combat Evolved is definitely a well earned game.… Expand

    This is easily one of the best games ever. The story is great, the campaign game play is damn near perfect, and the multiplayer rocks. There are some minor issues with the multiplayer but overall it's great. The campaign is what really sells this game for me however. The game play is fun, challenging, fair, and balanced, and that's the way it should be. Plus Mastur Ch33f is a pretty coolThis is easily one of the best games ever.     I have a confession to make, this was the first time I have never sat down and played through the campaign of Halo before. The sad truth is, I never had the chance. I grew up with Nintendo’s and PlayStations so when I purchased an Xbox this year, its the first Xbox I have ever owned. So naturally, one of the first things I wanted to play was Halo so I bought the Master Chief collection. II have a confession to make, this was the first time I have never sat down and played through the campaign of Halo before. The sad truth is, I never had the chance. I grew up with Nintendo’s and PlayStations so when I purchased an Xbox this year, its the first Xbox I have ever owned. So naturally, one of the first things I wanted to play was Halo so I bought the Master Chief collection. I plan on playing the Halo 2, 3 and 4 in the next several months.

    So looking at this game in 2017, it’s still a solid game with great shooting mechanics. I can say with absolute positivity that this game has aged well. Obviously, with the Master Chief Collection, it’s gotten some work was done to it aesthetically but it looks fine. The shooting felt very tight, I didn’t like the default control scheme but the game allowed me to change that and once I made the switch. It felt good.

    My big complaint about this game is the level design though. It felt like I would go through an area, reach the destination and then have to backtrack and redo everything I just did. In some areas, it felt like I did that multiple times. There were some levels where I just completely got lost because everything looked the same. My hope is the developers learned this and fixed this in future iterations.

    Halo is an iconic series and I feel like all gamers should play Halo and I feel more like a true gamer now that I’ve experienced Halo. Its still aged well and I do recommend picking up the collection.    … Expand

    I'm sure it was much better at the time when it came out, but I honestly can't understand the hype for this game. At first, it's very fun. But after the first level, my interest quickly died out. It's extremely repetitive and I found myself bored out of my mind all too quickly

    This game revolutionised first person shooters and was the beginning of one of the biggest video game franchises with one of the biggest universes and lore. The combat is very fun, the story is amazing and the ending is epic.

    In a lot of ways Halo: Combat Evolved is an overall experienced that hasn't been replicated. The graphics are wonderful regardless of the platform your play on (I'd recommend XBOX ONE X). The shooting and movement while not perfect, creates a perfect mold for the rest of the series. The enemy design while average by today's standards, was ground breaking in 2001. The graphics are wonderful regardless of the platform your play on (I'd recommend XBOX ONE X). The shooting and movement while not perfect, creates a perfect mold for the rest of the series. The enemy design while average by today's standards, was ground breaking in 2001. The level design is very open ended and players are given a lot of choice for exploration. The story by my standards is one of the best sci-fi stories ever made, and it can be enjoyed without any other knowledge of the Halo universe. My biggest issues with Halo: CE is poor weapon balancing, repetitive backtracking through some levels, and the lack of methods one has to play this game online. At the time of this games release it was the gold standard for a first party title, and today it still offers a magic that 9 out of 10 games can't achieve.… Expand

    The multiplayer is top notch and the arena gameplay feels simply amazing and satisfying. The warzone mode adds a unique MOBA twist to it and it just feels satisfying pulling a come from behind victory.

    Many people bought an original Xbox just to play this game. It was revolutionary. It changed the video game industry for its time. And the game has aged only a little. The story is still good, and the graphics still look good to this day. I cant say how much i recommend this to you. Just dont use the Assault Rifle. Ever.

    It's an all around good game that proved its worth as the flagship product for the XBox. Given that the FPS genre was still relatively untouched on consoles, save for Rare's 'GoldenEye 007' and 'Perfect Dark.' Bungie did an amazing job of not only near perfecting the FPS formula on the console, but also defining the tropes of the genre for years to come. Two weapon limit, using the left trigger to throw grenades. These may be considered common mechanics now, but Halo, for better or for worse, was at the forefront of pushing these mechanics into the genre. Not only is this refinement and improvement on the genre impressive, as mentioned before the FPS genre did not have a strong foothold on the console market. The genre was pretty much confined to the PC (not that they had reason for complaint with games like Half-Life, Counter Strike and the original DOOM). So for Bungie to bring a relatively new genre as it was, to a platform that wasn't familiar with the genre, and a new platform franchise no less, and it was still a success speaks volumes of Bungie's ability in crafting this game.

    Whilst I can speak huge volumes of praise for the game. It is not without it's shortcomings. Whilst it doesn't have too much of an impact on the game. There is a very small amount of weapons available (although there is a nice amount of vehicles). 5 UNSC weapons and 3 Covenant weapons to be exact, and whilst for the most part these weapons are well balanced and implemented into the game. The magnum is so powerful it practically removes the need for any other weapon so long as you're a crack shot. However, those first two issues were more on the knit-picking side, my major issue with this game, and one anyone who is familiar with the game I'm sure will agree with me on. The Library as a level is just a nightmare. On the easy difficulty it's more just an endless and repetitive journey through the same flood infested halls (which also reminds me that for many levels, there was a lot of backtracking, I know it's a frequent problem with older FPS games like the Metroid Prime games but Pillar of Autumn is an excellent example of completely linear level design with practically no elements of backtracking other heading too and then leaving the bridge.) but on legendary, The Library is an absolute nightmare, even with a friend by your side.

    It's certainly a decent game on the surface, however it is not worthy of the 10/10 mark.
    A lot of the game recycles it's self, places look very similar and you feel like you are not really progressing up until the point you come to the flood.

    There is a part in the game where you meet the flood almost every time you move forwards and they will first try to get you from behind, it's not smartly done, too predictable and just becomes tiring and repetitive.
    Then you get to the end point of the game which is just a great showcase to show how piss poor the controls are for the warthog.

    I played this on my OG XBOX through component leads and it looks great sadly not the best experience gameplay wise.

    Comme titre de lancement de la première Xbox, il était assez impressionnant avec notamment des environnements assez grands et la possibilité de conduire pas mal de véhicules. Bien que n'étant pas un monde ouvert, l'effet "couloir" en était de fait sensiblement réduit. Son inspiration pioche un peu partout dans le monde foisonnant de la SF tout en assurant sa propre identité.

    On note tout de même un goût douteux ici et là en ce qui concerne les ennemis, les couleurs criardes et les "pioupious" des armes en général, l'impression n'est pas toujours très sérieuse... L'ambiance qui reste décidément "curieuse" profite cependant d'une bonne VF et d'excellentes musiques.

    Si la jouabilité est soigneusement réglée et l'interface sans reproche, l'architecture des niveaux laisse parfois à désirer avec des intérieurs copiés-collés à l'infini sans parler évidemment des niveaux de la Bibliothèque qui souffrent d'une répétition incroyablement pénible aussi bien graphiquement que dans son déroulement qui ne cesse de vomir des ennemis ad nauseam.

    Quelques grands moments dans un jeu globalement bien mis en scène côtoient ce genre de défauts d'équilibrage avec encore trop d'endroits où l'on attend en tournant en rond que le prochain script se déclenche après avoir nettoyé une zone. Gratifiant et énervant, Halo souffle trop souvent le chaud et le froid par intermittences imprévisibles, ce qui le rend fatigant à long terme.    … Expand

    One of the best. A defining first person shooter for consoles. The first 'Call of Duty' before Call of Duty even became a popular franchise. The multiplayer was beyond par, system link could be exploited through online gamespy applications to play using LAN hacks. Amazing fun for before Xbox Live filled the niche which expanded into a gaming phenomena.

    I happily give Halo: CE a 10 out of 10. I played this game a lot back when I was a kid in 2002. The Story is amazing, the gameplay mechanics solid. And the characters were well developed. Fighting the Covenant and the Flood was simply a fun time. This game has made so many memories for me that I will hold onto for a long time. It truly is one of the best games of all time.

    The best fps for me to be honest. I played this game 24/7 when I was a kid but stopped for awhile and I never expected to come back for this game. All the feeling and love I had for this game came back and felt like I joined a new world. I never had strong feelings in any game other than Halo.

    this game is a great game. the story is great, the multiplayer amazing but the problem is the campaign not the cutscenes or story but the gameplay. it feels like a chore to play i didnt have any fun health packs were too scarse on the mission the guns take out vechicles too easily if im in a tank, i want it to feel like a tank. but for a game this old the animations are great better than most

In fact I'm actually pretty glad that I never played it, because at the end of the day its an extremely mediocre game.

    The first and most noticeable thing about the game that I found myself hating were the weapons and overall gunplay, the weapons in halo in addition to being completely uninspired have lackluster sound effects and animations for the most part, and many of the weapons are underpowered thus making the plasma pistol and pistol the best loadout for most of an individuals play through, unless of course you are playing on average difficulty which was so mind numbingly easy it made me contemplate suicide.

    The assault rifle doesn't **** shoot straight, the plasma rifle does more dps than the plasma pistol but because of the regenerating shield system damage per shot ofter takes precedence over damage per second since(and this is much truer on harder difficulties than on lower ones) its best to stay fairly close to cover while shooting enemies so you can engage in the hide till you heal **** at your convenience, the needler pretty much requires you to empty half a clip into an enemy to kill it and is a boring weapon that doesn't require any semblance of skill to use properly, and the rocket launcher, shotgun, and sniper rifle rarely show up during the course of a play though which is disappointing because out of all the weapons in the game they are by far the best in the game due to their beefier sound effects and better functionality than the other weapons. Granted it might have made halo which is already easy even easier had these weapons showed up more often but there is nothing inherently wrong with a game being easy or inherently right with a game being hard. Difficulty is something I really only complain about when I dislike the underlying for the game being easy, in the case of halo what I dislike are projectile attacks that move so fast that they usually can't be dodged and the health system which allows one to soak up damage like a sponge and recover shields at his convenience, as well as the slow easy and tiresome gunplay and enemy types, which can hardly be said to require different tactics to beat. The grunts can be killed simply by shooting them with anything or throwing any grenade at them and if you kill their commanders they'll just run around and give you another opportunity to shoot them by running around like a couple of **** in spite of the fact that they were honestly pretty harmless to begin with, they are equipped with plasma pistols but for some mysterious reason they lack the ability to charge them up, you can pretty much just play peek a boo with them and slowly pick them off with any weapon before attacking the elites and because they never charge up their pistols you won't have to worry about losing your sheilds fighting them this way, additionally its entirely too easy to stick plasma grenades to them which ironically enough they happen to drop like candy upon dying, the jackals are only slightly more threatening than the grunts they for some mysterious reason can charge up their plasma pistols while the grunts cannot and the fact that they are equipped with the exact same weapon as most grunts is one of the things I dislike about the game, it simply does not take orthogonal enemy designs far enough, the strategy for dealing with jackals is pretty much the same as the strategy for dealing with elites; attack their weak spot and/or them with plasma then either attack their weak spot or hit them with anything till they are dead, alternatively meleeing them works pretty well if you are close enough and grenades are more effective against jackals than they are against elites because jackals are far more stationary but its still not a big enough difference in enemy design to make the game interesting and if you compare the orthogonal level designs in this game to the ones in say quake the difference is pretty clear. In quake you have hitscan enemies, that require you to take cover and pop in and out of it to shoot them, there is a dude with a grenade launcher that requires you to dodge his grenades(yes you can actually **** dodge most projectiles in that game instead of soaking them up like a sponge) and also tries to chainsaw you if you get close, and most of the enemies in that game require vastly differ methods of movement to to deal with their attacks and some are more effectively dealt with by certain weapons than with others.

    I could say more about the game but I've reached the character limit, 5000 is far to few for a full length critique.    … Expand

    This game did not age that well, it is still a good game, but it does seem (at least in multiplayer standards) that gun balance was not really something that was paid attention too, it can be really fun and addicting, but as long as the other guy isn't camping the flag with a rocket launcher.

    Pros:

    Interactive environment

    Halo set an industry standard with their FPS interactive environment that was later copied by many other FPS series. For its time the interactive environment of Halo CE allowed users to truly feel as if they were part of Master Chief's quest to destroy the Halo ring. Combat scenes became more realistic, traveling was more realistic and the game overall expanded on for its time what a 3D enviornment was for gaming standard.

    The soundtrack

    This is completely a personal opinion; Halo CE has one of the most impressive soundtracks for any video game of all time. Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori truly showed their fantastic ability to compose a soundtrack that helped players feel in touch with the game and its story, the soundtrack stresses chief's struggle and success. The game does an excellent job of making you feel as if you're Master Chief with the soundtrack.

    Halo CE allows you to play through Chief's story with a friend and compete head to head or together against other players via split screen or system link. There are over a dozen maps to explore and if you're playing the PC version or Xbox One MCC version of the game nearly 20 maps. Not all the maps are perfect but there are well more than enough to keep you entertained for hours on end.

    Why did I give this game a 10? Halo CE offers a campaign and multiplayer experience that no other FPS for its time was able to offer on a console. Halo set the bar for many industry standards in the FPS genre that to this day are still built upon.    … Expand

    Its excelent, the gameplay ist perfect, you need to organize your bullets in the enemies, the maps are amazing the view is spectacular and the music is epic.

    This game was the first game i played ever and looking back at it today it is still a masterpiece if anyone still has there Xbox Original today play this game again it is still as much fun as it was back then
