I'm hooked and I won't stop playing for a long, long time. What is Deathrow? Pure joy.
-
Amazing visuals, strong audio, great depth both single player and multiplayer wise, beautiful presentation and solid all around gameplay makes Deathrow one of the hottest and most underrated titles of the year.
-
Maybe its name has allowed it to slip under the proverbial radar. This game isn't about incarcerated inmates waiting to die. In fact, they should have called it Profanity-laced, Ass-kicking, Super, Glowing, Futuristic Frisbee Fest 2002.
-
If you can stomach the language, or have a terrific mute button, Deathrow really is a fun game that can be played alone or with a few friends.
-
This game features so much fun, revolutionary gameplay I am only praying that this is not the developers last game. Throw in the damn mature rating and this game is a surefire winner.
-
Succeeded beyond my wildest dreams to create a fast-paced indoors arena sport that is easy to learn and fun to play; the two most important elements when you deal with fantasy sports.
-
What appears to be a simplistic, gratuitously violent game on the surface gradually reveals an impressive degree of depth, much in the way games like "Quake III: Arena" require much more skill and strategy than meets the eye.
-
Deathrow's graphic violence and excessive swearing mean it's not exactly the game to get your kid brother, but most Xbox owners should find in it a highly gratifying experience that's equally well suited for single-player or multiplayer mayhem.
-
With fast, violent, and even subtle sporting action all wrapped up in a gorgeous audiovisual package, Deathrow is a real winner of a game.
-
With plenty of teams to play and extras to unlock, it's good value for money, and as a multiplayer game it will be hours of fun.
-
Not since "Ullamalitzli," the ancient Aztec game where the losers were beheaded has violent sports been so much fun.
-
Cheat Code CentralA very unique experience like no other, and probably the most "extreme" sporting game out there right now.
-
There is a surprising amount of strategy as well considering we're dealing with a made up sport. This is mainly due to excellent attention to detail on the physics of the disc used for play.
-
Official Xbox MagazineThe relatively crackling gameplay and amusing atmosphere make for an enjoyable whole, and above all a decent party game. [Feb 2003, p.78]
-
The one thing that makes this game interesting is if you play the game as its supposed to be played, the other team will keep it relatively clean. If you start going out to pick fights, the people you beat up will remember you, and come back and beat you into a corner.
-
Game InformerDoesn't offer enough depth or strategy. [Jan 2003, p.114]
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyThis is a well-put-together mini-game masquerading as sports entertainment. [Dec 2002, p.250]
-
Once you start playing however, youre more than likely to find yourself running about like a blue-arsed fly as the game passes you by, such is the level of AI of the computer-controlled players.
