This game is a learning curve and has features that require some exploration, but it is worth it. No game has captured the scope of human space exploration like this game and from what I've played so far, the story and gun play are very solid and, in some cases, borders on amazing. Fantastic game, period. There is a counter argument to every one of the complaints and critics of this game, but only the individual player can decide for themselves if this game is their game.

Side note: I am a very political minded person and have no affinity with "pronouns." However, that in no way keeps me from enjoying the 99.999% of this game that has nothing to do with "pronouns."

    Chapter 7: Graphics and Technology

With the advent of next-gen gaming hardware, Starfield is expected to push the boundaries of graphics and technology. We'll discuss the technical aspects of the game and how they contribute to the immersive experience.

Chapter 8: Multiplayer and Social Interaction

While traditionally known for single-player experiences, Bethesda has hinted at some form of multiplayer in Starfield. This chapter will explore the potential for co-op play and how it might enhance the game.

Chapter 9: The Legacy of Starfield

In this concluding chapter, we'll reflect on the potential impact of Starfield on the gaming industry, the lasting impression it may leave, and the anticipation it generates for future space-themed games.

    Conclusion:

Starfield represents a bold new frontier for Bethesda Game Studios, combining their renowned expertise in open-world RPGs with the allure of space exploration. While many details remain shrouded in mystery, the potential for an epic and immersive gaming experience is undeniable. As we eagerly await its release, Starfield stands as a beacon of hope for those who dream of venturing beyond the stars in the vastness of the cosmos.

Ship combat feels good and gets better the more you upgrade your ship to handle maneuverability base on fighter style gameplay but you can adjust your ship around your play style (bounty hunter/transporter and so on). A major component to this is readjusting power to the different systems such as shields weapons and gravity drive during dog fights.

On planet gameplay feels good here too. Gun combat is satisfying and different feel of gravity on planets/moons is a nice touch. This gives you more verticality in gun fights as you can jump higher due to some environments having low gravity and booster feel to make you feel like Boba Fett.
Graphics to me look good including character models. Voice dialogue is convincing and really good and character models compliment them pretty well for the most part. Game runs smooth on the Series X.

My biggest drawback is the travel between planets within a same star system and when you’re in orbit traveling to the planet/moon where they are broken apart by loading screen. I would’ve loved to see what Starlink Battle for Atlas or No Man Sky implementation in regards to travel and its seamless feel between planets/moons.

Game still has some minor bugs but nothing that broke immersion and experience so far. I highly recommend this and if it wasn’t for the space travel issues I addressed earlier, this would’ve been a 9/10 but docked it down to 8/10 cause traveling is a big part of gameplay and this was a miss that baffled me.

Don't get me wrong, the main quest is good as well but these sides quests are truly something special as well. Wasn't much into Starfield till I saw the Direct and was truly amazed by the gameplay/gun-play. I'm a sucker for these types of shooters and being able to switch between 1st and 3rd person makes it perfect in my opinion though I mostly play in 3rd person. Was sad to see that it's locked to 30fps on console though but honestly with how smooth it runs mixed with the gameplay I just forget it's 30fps. As for the cons of the game, I too came into thinking there would be bugs/glitches but to my surprise...nothing. Not to say the game is "bug free" but the game is more polished than one might expect and as mentioned before, it just runs smooth. Frames do tank just a bit in New Atlantis but outside of that (to me) I haven't experienced any frame issues on my Series X. All in all, I think Bethesda knocked it out of the park with Starfield that adds the perfect amount of everything to the mix to make this game become special now and in the future. As of writing this, there are mentions of mod supports that's not just PC but will be on console too and I can't wait to see what that has to offer. Expand

I mean I bought an Xbox specifically for this game, as my laptop would've never been able to run it. So with that being said, when I sat down to play Starfield for the first time I was hooked. Hours went by and a question started spinning in my head. "Am I playing a completely different game from the reviewers". There are a few things I wish they would have done differently, like - having a map, at least in the major cities/ buildings/ships, and so on. Fewer planets, which would have been more intricate and filled with environmental storytelling would have been better in my eyes..and some other minor things like fewer loading screens. But it doesn't seem fair to complain and to be nit-picky as if we were owed something. The game is one of the best games of all time and it's free on "Game Pass", which is mind-blowing. Bethesda will keep doing what Bethesda does, and nobody in my eyes, can do what Bethesda does. Their games are the deepest games I've played and I appreciate them for that. I can talk for hours about all the great systems in Starfield, or about how great the characters are voiced, or how the music is almost as good as in Skyrim. I can't stress enough how important it is to be able to immerse yourself in this game. Give this game a chance! The game is amazing. But it takes at least 10-15 hours to realize that. If I had to point out any dislike would be no seamless tradition from flying and landing on the planet. But that’s only because we compare to no man’s sky. The games’ story is amazing. You need very good rig to run on high but it pays off. So much to do in the game.

Bethesda's mojo in a space. I am really digging Starfield!

The characters, story, visuals, lore and world (cosmos) design are stellar. This game is really polished. Almost surprisingly so for a Bethesda game. Take your time with this game, make sure to do side quests. Some of the best side quests I've done before. The game doesn't start off with a big bang like other Bethesda RPGs.

This game is a must! - Ignore the review bombing from biased outlets and other consoles.

The game economy is well thought The lore is worthy of a book or series for the backstory. Ship building is a game of its own.. The Lip Syncing is great, 1st and 3rd person options equally viable ways to play. AI is improved a lot, the enemies get sneaky and also they fear you when they are alone.

I am hooked, absorbing all the storytelling about the Terrormorph and getting a Starship Troopers styled side quest which so far I have like 3 hours in. The game is incredible, it absorbs you and doesn't let you go, it has a slow start though but it's totally worth it.

I have played in Series X and cloud gaming so far and it runs great, little to no bugs or frame drops. It's like Red Dead Redemption and Zelda ToTK, you will wish it lasts forever.

The soundtrack, views, and gameplay make this an amazing update to everything we love about Skyrim. I have been a longtime PlayStation fanboy and I bought a Series X specifically for this game, and I'm not disappointed.

Some of these negative reviews make me laugh. I see people complaining about some of the ~1000 planets being "empty". Duh, we're in space. It honestly adds a layer of immersion for me to visit a planet only to find nothing except beautiful planetary views for photo mode.

This game is not without flaws though, which is why I've rated it a 9 out of 10. The inventory system isn't great, space travel can be underwhelming, and the map system is awful. This game also has some minor bugs that are common with all Bethesda games, however most of the bugs that I've experienced (or seen posted on Reddit) are harmless and oftentimes hilarious.

I think a lot of the negative reviews are coming from people who had wildly unrealistic hopes and expectations of what this game would be. Again, this game isn't perfect, but it's provided me with >20 hours of amazing gameplay already and I haven't even begun to scratch the surface in terms of planetary exploration and completing missions.

A Stellar Journey Awaits in Starfield

I recently had the privilege of diving into Bethesda’s latest masterpiece, Starfield, and I must say, it’s nothing short of breathtaking. As a lifelong fan of science fiction and open-world RPGs, I had high hopes for this game, and it exceeded every one of them.

Starfield transports you to a richly detailed and expansive universe, teeming with wonder and mystery. The attention to detail in crafting various star systems, planets, and celestial bodies is nothing short of astounding. Each location feels unique, with its own ecosystem, history, and culture. The sense of immersion is unparalleled, thanks to stunning visuals and a captivating soundtrack that perfectly complements the vastness of space.

Character customization and development are as deep as you’d expect from a Bethesda game. You’re not just a passenger in this journey; you’re the captain of your own spaceship, making critical decisions that shape the fate of the universe. The ability to traverse the cosmos, explore planets, and engage in meaningful interactions with NPCs makes every moment in Starfield feel consequential.

Quests and side activities are abundant, offering a rich tapestry of storytelling that ranges from heartwarming to heart-pounding. The writing and voice acting are top-notch, bringing the game’s diverse cast of characters to life. Whether you’re negotiating a fragile interstellar peace treaty or uncovering the secrets of an ancient alien civilization, every mission is a thrilling adventure.

Gameplay mechanics strike a harmonious balance between accessibility and depth. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or a newcomer to the genre, Starfield’s controls are intuitive, and the learning curve is gentle. Yet, beneath the surface lies a complex web of crafting, exploration, and combat systems that reward mastery.

While no game is without its quirks and minor bugs, Bethesda has a history of robust post-launch support, and I have no doubt that any issues will be swiftly addressed.

In conclusion, Starfield is a magnum opus that redefines the open-world RPG genre in the realm of space exploration. It’s an experience that invites you to lose yourself in the vastness of the cosmos, offering endless opportunities for discovery and adventure. Bethesda has once again proven their mastery of world-building and storytelling, and Starfield is a must-play for anyone with a love for science fiction and immersive gaming.

Prepare for launch, fellow gamers; Starfield is here to take you on a celestial journey you’ll never forget.

My only minor quibbles are loading screens, there are far too many, although they're mostly 2-3 seconds as I have the game on an NVME Drive. I'd hate to imagine what it's like on a Mechanical hard disk. It's something Bethesda definitely need to work on with their next game. Graphics are good, but not great. Cheers to the PC users who just get the best of both worlds.

If you love Bethesda’s games such as Oblivion, Skyrim or Fallout you will love this game. It takes their proven open-world formula and adds a science fiction setting. The graphics, facial animations, combat and traversal are also vastly improved over previous Bethesda games.

Congratulations Microsoft, you now have a truly magnificent exclusive game crafted from the genius mind of Todd Howard, who Esquire magazine recently stated that "The Bethesda director is the video game industry’s Christopher Nolan, pushing the boundaries of the medium, from Elder Scrolls to Fallout. This game is a masterpiece. I have been with Bethesda since Skyrim, gone back and played their oldies, and I have to say this is their best game ever. Let me give you the positives.

    - Best Bethesda main story. The story had me, I cried at one point even. It is full of mystery, intrigue, great characters, and many fun twists and turns. It wears classic sci-fi inspiration on its sleeve which I love. It has elements of Bladerunner, Alien, 2001 A Space Odyssey and more. The ending is incredible and honestly heady.

    - Amazing combat. ID (Doom Eternal) and Machine games (Wolfenstein helped with the combat and you can tell it is polished and feels good. The reload animations are awesome, the weapons feel weighty and unique. Hundreds of customization options are available. You can customize and mod each part of a weapon. Also the way that enemies react to being shot is very realistic. They stumble, blood sprays, and the way they fall and slump over after dying shows off the game's impressive physics system.

    - Amazing faction quests. There are a lot of factions in this game. There are the big main factions like the Vanguard and the Crimson Fleet but you can also find smaller one's with shorter quest lines. For instance I joined a gang! The main faction quest lines are long, well written, and packed with good content.

    - Deep side quests with lot's of choice and consequence and great writing. Every side quest I have done has been a blast.

    - RPG mechanics: Bethesda returns to form here, this is the deepest their RPG systems have been since Oblivion. My character perks and background traits have come up in nearly every mission side and main. I have yet to stumble into even a side quest that didn't give me a dialogue option that let's me flex my background.

    - The persuasion and lockpicking mini games are amazing. Most quests have multiple persuasion checks for those who like to talk their way through a mission.

    - Performance is great. Stable 30FPS. Obviously I wish it were 60 but after seeing just how ambitious this game is and all the systems it has, it makes sense why that decision was made.

    - Writing: this is the best written BGS game ever. Clever, funny, emotional, and at times philosophical.

    - Characters: Great characters especially the constellation members. All memorable, they have fun personal questlines that flesh them out really well.

    - Locations: Talking specifically about the cities, I beat the game after 35 hours and I am still discovering new entire cities on different planets that I did not know existed. My favorite city is Neon. Each feels lived in and unique. They are massive and packed with content!

    - Ships: The ship combat is hard but very fun and very rewarding. Nothing beats disabling a ship's engine, boarding it, killing the grew in zero gravity then stealing the ship and selling it. The ship building is DEEP. I have spent hours just in that menu building new ships, making room for more crew that I can hire, and upping my weapon systems. The space combat is also very deep as you have to in real time divert power to various systems such as shields, engine, or weapons to maintain smart movement, defense, or offense. Really well done.

    - NG+ is brilliant. That is all I will say.

    - Procedural content. Completely optional but a ton of fun. I have yet to see the same thing twice. Each planet has so much to offer and the procedural dungeons so far have all been cool and unique. There is so much handcrafted content however, you will be 70+ hours in before you even would need to think about touching the procedural world's if they are not your thing.

    - Base building: Far better than fallout 4, I actually love it in this game (did not in fallout). It is easier and helps you with resources and storage, also gives you a place to put companions you find and recruit.

    - Impressive systems: Here is an example, each planet and each system in real time moves like real planets. If you sit on a moon for 5 hours and watch the sky you will be able to watch in real time your moon rotate around a planet and that planet rotate around the it's sun. This means that each of the 1,000 planets have their own day night cycle and own planetary time. You can see that planet's unique time/day night cycle when you go to wait or sleep on a planet. As it is contrasted against a Universal or standard time that is galaxy wide. I remember when I was blown away by Forza having a seasonal cycle, but this game literally has full unique day night cycles for each individual planet and moon. Another system that blew me away are the physics and object permanence. I have collected so many stuffed animals and laid them all over my ship. They just stay. I saw someone stored 2,000 potatoes on their ship as well.

This track record suggests a commitment to creating vast, immersive open worlds with rich storytelling.

The concept of exploring space in a single-player RPG setting is incredibly appealing. Starfield promises to take players on a journey to the stars, offering a whole new frontier to explore. The idea of piloting your own spaceship, visiting diverse planets, and encountering a variety of alien species is captivating.

Bethesda's dedication to modding and player freedom has been a hallmark of their games, and it's likely that Starfield will follow suit. This means that players can expect a robust modding community to enhance and expand the game's content and features, ensuring longevity and replayability

Starfield is one of the few games that immerses you in a unique environment. Comparing it to Starcitizen or No mans Sky is unfair, starfield has a different atmosphere and mechanics. It is an excellent game. I've been playing it for 83 hours and it's very addictive.

I have played around 12 hours and it is really good game so far. If you like skyrim and fallout 4 you will like this as its bascily those games but in space. This isn't a space exploration game like Elite Dangerous but more a RPG game. The graphics looks excellent and I have not had 1 crash or 1 bug. it runs perfect. Some people said its graphics are bad when they look awesome. Some review even says it has bad fps when it simply doesn't. I think alot of the bad reviews are fake as I not experienced any problems these reviews seem to say. The game is excellent and well worth the play./ Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The game is pretty big, and have several options to write your own history, I've been playing this two last days and the main mission are interesting but the majority I played seconds that are very interesting too, there are some bugs but nothing extreme, and the planet exploration can be better, I'll give a solid 9

It's a big game, but starts way too slowly, and may never get interesting.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
