    A Visually astonishing game, with a very special art style and great gameplay. I think this game is not for everyone, because probably people didn't expect this game to be what it is, and whatever it's trying to be it has succeeded. I think the way to put this game is a directionless (I mean it in a good way) puzzle game with some aspects of shooter games.     The art style is amazing and the sound design is great. The combat felt ok, the game is short, but very memorable. Overall for a small studio, this game is great.

    Don't be fooled: this is not horror, this is not FPS.
    This is walking simulator with no meaning, same corridors and confusing puzzle-solving. Nothing disgusting here but combat system itself.
    You want to hear the plot? (no spoilers) - You just revive, walk and push buttons for 4 hours and die.
    That's the game. $40 pls

    To be honest, I've been waiting for this game since last year, and when its release was delayed until today, I was at a loss, to say the least. The developers said they postponed the game because they redid the entire gameplay from scratch.

    As for the atmosphere, yes, it is powerful. The game runs on XSS at a stable 60 fps, which is good news.     The first disadvantage is that the game is short. You can go through it in 3-5 hours, and there is no replay value at all. The second negative is the complete lack of a plot. We do not know what happened, what happens during the game and the ending of the game, to put it mildly, will disappoint you. This is what I said softly. In general, this ending is to be expected if you've watched anime like Dark Myth. The atmosphere is the same. Well, the third minus is the gameplay. He is primitive. It's just a walking simulator with almost no variability, with puzzles like "poke until it solves itself" and some combat, and the most scripted + most of the opponents will simply disappear forever if we step back a little.

The combat is possibly the worst in any game I’ve ever played. I’m an OG Xbox fan but I think it’s time to switch.     This game is bizarre, fresh and interesting. The only down side is the game is too short and can be beaten in less than 3-4 hours.

    + Interesting puzzles, although a bit frustrating at times.

    + Fresh artistic approach sets it apart from other games.

    + Great atmospheric music.

    - Too short.

    - Can be beaten once and you’re done.

    Amazing atmosphere and disturbingly beautiful graphics! The puzzles weren't brain wracking hard and the sound quality was top notch. The game could have been a little longer but it was another out of nowhere game from a small studio.

    I remembered back in 2014 when this game was announced. All the way from the first ever trailer to when it was suppose to be 2 parts. This game absolutely lives up to the hype and wait. The art design which is without question its biggest selling points is flawless and the developers should be proud. The game itself I had a great time with. Is this a shooter? The puzzles were anywhere from easy to mind blowing hard. I had a hard time on the first puzzle and 2 near the very end which involved a unlocking mechanism that involved twisting to make these lights glow up around the puzzle area. The story for what it is, is there. I think you need to piece it together more than anything and I loved doing that. I really enjoyed this bravo! Can't wait for their next project.… Expand

    At a time when I thought games were incapable of surprising me, Scorn proved me otherwise. This game has a superb art direction and a core gameplay reminiscent of classic "Survival horror". Despite that, it is important to note that its abstract narrative, its lack of interest in explaining its own mechanics and its emphasis on puzzles, make it a game far from the mainstream.

    Well, it wasn't better OR worse than I expected... Surprisingly it was Exactly what I wanted and Expected from it! It did not disappoint! My only complain would be how short it is... but not in a angry way of complainin' 'bout it...     The Artbook is FANTASTIC, it helps with getttin' a lil' insight and lore bits as you read!
    The Soundtrack is as moody and atmospheric as you would expect! and it gave me as much inspiration as the art direction!

    Overall? Amazin' game, it feels it was made for me, I do have a new big favorite now, and I just wish I could forget it all so I could experience everythin' all over again!

    10/10 no question.

    It is not a shooter, it does have a combat system that is functional and good for the game, as it keeps you unease the whole time.

    You can't talk about Scorn without talking about its inspiration for its art style. The level design and enemy design of Scorn are heavily inspired by the art of H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński. The entire allure of Scorn is its haunting and disturbing atmosphere that is unlike anything else in video games.

    The soundtrack and sound effects are atmospheric and haunting. Perfect for keeping you on the edge.

    In regards of gameplay, it's a puzzle based exploration game. The main draw of the game is exploring the environment and the puzzles are just a means to an end.

    The combat is its weakest element but it's mostly skippable and the encounters are sparse.

    EBB Software was clearly aware of their strengths and weaknesses. They actively chose to highlight their strengths i.e. the visuals whilst keeping the combat to a minimum. The combat exists just enough to separate itself from the run in the mill walking simulators.

    In my playthrough there was one bug right before the ending that clipped me off the level and no matter how much I restarted the game, it'd spawn me in the same place.

    Sadly that brings me to another negative aspect of the game, the lack of frequent auto-saving or checkpoints.

    I had to reload my last auto-save from 2 hours ago and replay the entire final chapter. Luckily this time I was done sightseeing and rushed to the objective and finished the final chapter in under an hour.

    Scorn is a haunting and immersive experience that wears its inspirations on its sleeve but due to flawed combat, lack of dialogue and minimalistic storytelling it is certainly not for everyone.    … Expand

    It's a unique experience: a trip in the guts of an alien planet, framed with flesh and populated by creatures out of nightmares. The sound design stands out for giving the tone that makes the experience more immersive and horrifying. I waited for many years for this game and he gave me everything I expected.

I hope this is a trend that catches on. What little story there is can only be discerned from the ominous, monolithic, torturous environment.

    Now for the bad. The combat is brutal and unforgiving, and most people will find it bad mechanically. It feels like something from the PS1 era. The save system is also terrible, as the player has no control over it, and instead has to rely on a system of confusing checkpoints. Pro-tip: never reload your game manually or you could end up losing over an hour of progress.
    All of this I'm sure is intentional to provide a intense survival horror experience that matches the incredible visual graphics of the game, and it more or less did work for me. It reminded me of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, being a harrowing journey with cutting edge graphics.

    My favorite thing about the game being that it has no dialogue, also hurts it because nothing is explained. This is bad when it comes to certain goofy unintuitive mechanics like healing or loading your weapon with ammo. I went through an entire act not knowing why my gun wouldn't fire(it has to be loaded first).    … Expand

    The game is a graphic story in general, with touches of survival horror mixed with puzzles, at times walks predominate to introduce you to the story and its world, and far from being boring, you get into it, its setting, sound and graphics are spectacular, the challenge is moderate, and honestly I have not seen anything negative, I liked it a lot, its visual section is disgustingly beautiful!.

Of course your not supposed to be Doom Guy or Master Chief of this world, just a random tortured soul trying to survive in this hellscape. Fortunately there is just a few sections heavier on combat. Progression is mostly tied to solving environmental puzzles. Outside of somewhat clunky shooting mechanics the only other real complaint i have is how Scorn handles save-states: lack of ability to manual save the game, no clear indication of auto-save occurring and small amount of save points overall.

    The main draw of Scorn are the puzzles, its dense atmosphere, brilliant art design which is heavily inspired by works of artists H. R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński and environmental storytelling whit all the underlining themes that it encapsulates. Typical soundtrack is replaced by a subdued ambient score. Outside of few music cues, in key moments, you may even, at points, dismiss the score as background noise if your not into dark ambient music akin to Lustmord, who was unsurprisingly also involved in this project.

    This is certainly not a title for everyone but puzzle and horror fans should definitely give this game a chance. If your intrigued by the visuals and don't mind trying something different Scorn is worth playing even just to soak up the atmosphere.    … Expand

    As I see that people don't understand this game because devs couldn't introduce game properly. Most of trailers have a combat but actually game doesn't need a combat. Puzzle sequences are boring.
    H.r. giger-ish design style is 10/10.

    It's not for everyone.

    Had high hopes for this game and when I installed and started playing, I was given ZERO (ZILCH) clue or backstory on what im suppose to be doing which lead to roaming around for about 45mins completing nothing. The game looks good, but thats about it.

    Overall life is short and I would not recommend investing time into this abomination of a game.

    Al inicio empiezas exactamente como venimos al mundo sin saber que hacemos en ese lugar y ni el porque de las cosas pero conforme empiezas a explorar puedes ir haciendo teorías del mundo, para ir avanzando hay que hacer puzzles algo complicados pero que no son imposibles; un gran juego a mi pensar.

Yes, there's a clear influence but I still feel like it's got something I've never seen before. The puzzles, in the "totally not PS fanboy 0/10 reviews say either they are too hard or too easy.It is a puzzle game. That's the first thing to know.     A parte ruim do jogo é a resolução de morte em combate, que além de difícil pode te deixar numa situação    Scorn é uma experiência diferente e única.     O jogo definitivamente é bom, a estética dele é única (inspirada no Hans Rudolf Giger), os puzzle são difíceis e passam uma sensação gratificante depois de solucionar eles, os gráficos estão lindos e sua história é enigmática com cada pessoa tendo entendido uma coisa. O seu maior problema é seu combate, o combate de scorn é simplesmente injusto e com poucas variedades de inimigos.

    Me encanta su estilo de tipo mecánico y orgánico que le da una esencua única. Los puzzles son algo complicados tomando en cuenta que no tienes ninguna referencia más que andar caminando a ver con qué puedes interactuar. Ya conforme vas explorando vas agarrando ritmo.
    En definitiva es un buen juego de terror inmersivo, cumple totalmente el propósito.

    Alors oui, Scorn est l'exemple même du jeu qu'on adore, ou qu'on déteste au plus haut point. Il est glauque, malsain par nature, dérangeant la totalité du temps. Il joue avec nos faiblesses, nos dégoûts nos peurs, mais en les sublimant avec une direction artistique incomparable. Dès les premiers instants on sent la passion des développeurs pour leur jeu, tout ce qu'ils ont voulu y mettre en détail ,architecture, lore entier. Bluffant...

    Pour revenir sur le fond du jeu, surtout ne regardez pas le titre via des streamers ou la lecture de test. Le jeu doit se découvrir avec lenteur pour analyser chaque détail, au risque de tout vous gâcher. Je vous rassure, ce n'est pas une succession de couloirs interminables, le jeu parvient à nous surprendre à chaque chapitre jusqu'au dénouement final.
    Ne pensez pas non plus que c'est un shooter FPS. Au contraire, les "armes" que vous récupérez ne sont qu'une excuse de plus de vous montrer à quel point vous êtes insignifiants dans le jeu, vulnérable, faible. Il ne faut s'en servir qu'en dernier recours, quand vous êtes acculé, qu'il n'y a pas d'autres échapatoires. Et dans ces moments là, vous vous rendez compte que vous êtes rapidement à la merci de vos ennemis. Non, il faut analyser la faune locale, la regarder tranquillement évoluer dans son univers et comprendre comment ils réagissent.
    J'ai fait tout le jeu en tuant quasiment aucun ennemi, sauf à de rares moments où je n'avais plus le choix. C'est là toute la subtilité du jeu que vous ne pouvez comprendre sans le faire avec patience et sans regarder des streamers débiles qui rush les jeux pour l'audience...

    Les énigmes sont assez simples et augmentent en difficulté au fur et à mesure. Elles ne sont jamais impossibles et très loin des casses têtes de Myst par exemple.

    Non Scorn est une aventure qui se "savoure" en regardant chaque détail des décors, son architecture, son univers, ses mécanismes pour vraiment comprendre ce qui se passe autour de nous et ce qui nous arrive.

    Alors oui, 6-7h de jeu, ça peut paraître court, mais elles sont intenses et resteront inoubliables.

    Son seul défaut ? Ne pas être disponible en VR.    … Expand

It's worth a 10 for the art alone, and a depth of world immersion that I've honestly never experienced before. Visually it's like Doom on steroids.     Un jeu ma fois intéressant... J'aime bien les jeux d'énigmes ! Mais la j'ai trouvé les énigme ennuyante , elles sont résolu sans réel besoin de réflexion... Puis certains parle d'un jeu d'horreur mais rien ne fait peur , le jeu ce déroule dans un univers gore auquel je n'est pas accroché !

    Horror quality of this game can compare to Resident Evil 7, also the pods, virus and slimy stuff in Scorn along walls and areas is almost on par with how Resident Evil 7 did the background of virus

    Gamepass effect taking over. When I read that Scorn has been in development since 2014 I got my hopes up, but in the end I was severely let down. Took about 5 hours to beat, and the entire experience was boring, no music, everything looks the same, confusing puzzles that aren't satisfying as much as they are confusing. Hopefully others enjoy this game, but it just didn't click with me at all.

    L'ambiance sonore est excellente et colle parfaitement à la DA splendide. Techniquement c'est propre, beau, fluide. On est pas loin d'un jeu next gen graphiquement même si on est dans un jeu couloir et donc pas gourmand.
    Le game design n'a rien d'exceptionnel mais on attend pas un truc de fou pour un puzzle game vu fps. Par contre le level design est très très bien travailler et réfléchit.
    Le jeu est cours environ 6h, 6h32 pour ma part, mais j'ai prit du temps à apprécier et admirer les décors qui sont splendide et certains endroits sont de vrais tableaux.
    Très impressionné que se soit un studio indé qui est réussi à sortir un tel jeu et surtout après que le jeu soit mit de coté il y a quelques années suite à un financement pas suffisant.
    En résumé un jeu qui plaira ou non mais qui vas ravir les fans du genre puzzle game ou ambiance ou contemplatif ou les nostalgiques d'une époque où les jeux ne vous prenez pas par la main.    … Expand

    I will never forget when I first experienced Alien and this game gave such similar feelings of witnessing a truly alien world/environment that for that alone it is more than worth it!

    Najpiękniejsza gra w jaką grałem. Dźwięki i grafika stoją na najwyższym poziomie. Dzięki Bogu gra nie ma wieśniackiej narracji jak większość dzisiejszych gier i wszystkiego musimy domyślić się sami. Mam nadzieję, że będzie Scorn 2, albo chociaż jakieś dlc :D

    Total disappointment and probably the most disappointing game in the past 2 years. Graphics don’t look good , story well there is no story , o dialogue , nothing but puzzles. The only thing it did right was the Alien movies atmosphere

    The game's greatest strength is definitely its brilliant wordless narrative, where you piece together the fate of a dead civilization and the creature you play as in your head. Scorn is an experience that any fan of oppressive atmospheres and rotting flesh should not miss. [Issue#323]

    Give Scorn a chance if you feel like you can enjoy this game as an experience, rather than a strictly gameplay-focused project. Otherwise some questionable design choices and short length will most likely just bore you to death.
