RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business

Unfinished Business is a bit of a weird one. It improves a lot of foundational stuff from the main game, but it also tries some new things that don’t quite land. It has better combat encounters, but its side missions aren’t as well thought out. Its lack of hubs is also a disappointment after watching Detroit and the PD change throughout the main game. Still, Teyon is the only studio doing these love letters to classic movies at this quality level, and there’s a lot to like if you go in with your expectations in check and your brain turned all the way off.

All the action is very entertaining, once again, but there are moments when you feel that it becomes a little too streamlined and simple to lose some of the entertainment value that was there last time.

RoboCop: Rogue City had its fair share of technical issues, but somehow, Unfinished Business has even more. Its characters look hideous, the frame rate frequently hangs, and there are other niggly little bugs that will drive you mad. And, yet, once you start blowing away goons with RoboCop's Auto-9, none of that matters and all is right with the world.

The jank and glitches present in RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business make it hard to give it a higher score, but this is about as fun as uncomplicated FPS games get. Buy it, blast through it over a weekend, smile the entire time.

RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business is most satisfying in spurts. The gunfighting is satisfying, with enough challenge to it so as not to feel like you’re just an unstoppable machine marching through waves of enemies. But there is too much dead air between fights, making the slow movement annoying after a while.

With RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business, Teyon delivers a stand-alone title that addresses some of the criticisms of the previous installment, but still deserves a ticket for the compromises it makes. The focus has shifted, putting you in the thick of intense police brutality in this faster-paced first-person shooter, with quicker access to action mechanics and tougher opponents. However, this comes at the cost of a less immersive world, due to limited freedom and exploration, and some lingering technical flaws - though it still delivers bursts of action-packed highlights that show Teyon at its best.
