Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is gaming at its best - fun, welcoming, evolving, easy to play but endlessly difficult to master. And best played with friends. You’ll be continuously tested by this game and it takes its forebears’ core mechanics and adds them neatly into a new-but-familiar mix of action and strategy.
-
Apr 14, 2023In spite of its few shortcomings, Minecraft Legends is still a bold and exciting new direction for a franchise that continues to stand the test of time. It's a game that understands why Minecraft is so compelling in the first place and then twists those elements into an action strategy experience that can be hard to put down. Its only missteps come from its limited scope and how it leaves players wanting more because its core gameplay loop is so good. Minecraft Legends is approachable, captivating, and just a really good time.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a surprisingly deep strategy title that embodies what people love about the franchise, adding much more along the way.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a whole new world, fun and entertaining to say the least. It has enough elements to give us hours and hours of entertainment and its multiplayer mode is the best extra fun possible.
-
Apr 17, 2023There's a ton of fun packed into Minecraft Legends and it certainly takes a long time to understand how it all works together but once you get over that hump, you'll end up having a wonderful time making delicious bacon out of those dastardly piglins.
-
Apr 14, 2023MineCraft Legends is like playing Age of Empire but from a villager's point of view and more focused on direct action. The game combines strategy, tower defense, management and construction in a fun and layered way. Although some of the mechanics have been simplified and the game can be a bit overwhelming. However, it manages to keep the player interested by figuring out ways to improve our tools.
-
Apr 14, 2023While the tactical options are more limited when playing solo, Minecraft Legends is a blast to play. Pick it up if you are a Minecraft fan or if you just want to have fun playing a chill game with a friend.
-
Apr 14, 2023It's worth keeping an eye on, especially for those who are high followers of Pikmin-style titles, which are enjoyable as long as they are played with their respective pause. And as I mentioned, it may even be to the taste of those who are not really interested in the Minecraft that we have known all our lives.
-
Jun 23, 2023This quaint little strategy title brings the best of Minecraft's family-friendly tone to bear, with some lovely visuals to boot. It's not wildly complex, but is perfect for those looking to enjoy Minecraft's vibe in a new genre.
-
Jun 1, 2023Minecraft Legends is a proper strategy game, despite the friendly look. Scratching the surface will show a surprising amount of depth and whilst hardcore RTS players may sneer, it brings a ton of fun to the table.
-
Apr 24, 2023I had fun playing Minecraft Legends, but there are some aspects of the game that could be improved. The overworld is really large and really gorgeous in a Minecraft voxel kind of way, but it’s largely empty of anything more interesting than resources. I wish there was more to discover on long rides into the wilderness, but once I had reached all of the main locations I pretty much relied exclusively on fast travel. The assaults on the Piglin bases are fun, but as you make your way further into the campaign some of the sieges turn into grind fests. It would help if the siege weapons worked automatically, but you have to man them and manually aim their attacks – and then they have a cooldown period. Trying to monitor Piglins attacks while you’re aligning distant shots on structures, and then the need to check to see when the weapons are ready again is a constant distraction. Your enjoyment of Legends will depend a bit on how you enjoy playing Minecraft, as well as where on the RTS spectrum from noob to leet you fall. As for me, I’ve played a lot of Minecraft in many different ways and RTS games since the original StarCraft, and I found myself enjoying Legends.
-
Apr 18, 2023The visuals are amazing, the game is simple and it has a heart, that I can say about Minecraft Legends. There are things that could’ve been done better and it’s not as complex as the Civilization games – or any strategy game for that matter – but Mojang and Blackbird Interactive get my respect for venturing off into the unknown and finding a treasure like this.
-
Apr 17, 2023Minecraft Legends combines light Minecraft elements with action-strategy gameplay. The game feels more geared towards a younger audience, which is reflected in its simplified mechanics and overall atmosphere. However, there is plenty to enjoy here for players of all ages, especially for those who are looking for a little more Minecraft love.
-
Apr 16, 2023Minecraft Legends is an accessible and easy to master RTS, capable of delivering many hours of enjoyment to every kind of player. Something more could have been done for content variety and to strengthen the plot, but it remains a game that both veterans and newbies to the RTS genre should try.
-
Apr 16, 2023Gorgeous and generous, Minecraft Legends will not leave you indifferent, providing us what we except from a video game: having fun!
-
Apr 14, 2023At its heart, Minecraft Legends presents a fun, new adventure that shows how versatile the franchise can be. It can be enjoyed in a variety of modes, and as long as your friends are along for the ride, it’s hard to resist coming back for more.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends captures the magic of Minecraft in a wholly new way. It’s chaotic, it’s creative, it’s competitive and it’s an absolute blast.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends sheds a satisfying (and new) light on one of the richest universes we can remember. It's not the best in its genre, but this colorful mix of action, tactics, strategy and MOBA will win over Minecraft fans and even those who have never tried Mojang's game.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is an experience for everyone, from RTS experts to young kids who have spent hours playing Minecraft. The game is simple and deep at the same time, able to entertain both during the Campaign but above all in multiplayer.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a highly accessible strategy game that won’t challenge fans of the genre. For those who have never quite gelled with it before though, this is a great intro. Online co-op is a fun diversion but it’s the game’s PvP that will offer you the variety needed to keep you coming back for more.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a wonderful addition to the expanding Minecraft universe, perfectly encapsulating its character while exploring a new, unique action-strategy genre. Its two halves aren't always perfectly balanced, though, and there are certainly ways the game can improve.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is the best Minecraft spin-off yet, offering a wholly unique experience, lathered with a lovingly crafted layer of Minecraft infused paint. From a moreish campaign to ridiculously enjoyable versus mode, Minecraft Legends has something for everyone, and I suspect many will love what it has to offer.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends became an enjoyable and addictive experience for my return to this franchise. That could be because it was essentially a very fined tuned and comfortable RTS experience, but plenty of Minecraft charm is still found throughout the campaign. It pushes your knowledge of the systems and strategy during the later levels and is likely not for younger fans, but I enjoyed the challenge and expanded lore of this series.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a genuinely impressive RTS effort that has the potential to convert Minecraft fans into enthusiasts of the genre. Although it's not always a seamless blend, most of its issues can be resolved through understanding and patience.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends cleverly adapts the Minecraft universe for a new genre, even if some of its charm is lost in the process.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends brings us a totally different adventure from the ones we are used to in the franchise. An interesting story, fairly good gameplay, and excellent graphics make Minecraft Legends a good option for those looking for a different adventure within the Minecraft universe. If you have to take into account that this title may not be for all audiences, since the point of strategy in real time completely changes the game experience.
-
Apr 24, 2023Despite that, Minecraft Legends is a wonderful collection of genres that makes the usual RTS skill ceiling lower and approachable. Being a Minecraft game, Legends is set up for additional levels and scenarios via the Myths and Legends option at the main menu, which means the developers have plans to have fans continue mopping up Piglins for the foreseeable future. There are some fun and uniquely ‘Minecraft’ strategies to pull off in multiplayer, I just wish the campaign held the same appeal to me; while its not awful it’s just the tutorial for the multiplayer game to me.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends wasn't a game I was particularly excited about, mostly due to its strategy leanings. However, it's always nice to be surprised, and there's a lot of fun to be had, particularly with friends online. The single player can be as chill as you'd like it to be, but PVP is absolute panic-inducing carnage in the best kind of way.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is an ambitious experiment that tries to merge the franchise's most loved aesthetics and mechanics with those typical of a real-time strategy game: an idea that, while proving to be very fun in some moments, shows many gaps view of creativity and freedom of approach.
-
Apr 19, 2023Minecraft Legends is an action-strategy game that doesn't take itself too seriously, making it an easy game to hop into, while simultaneously lacking the depth to keep hardcore fans of the strategy genre coming back. The extra Monthly Challenge and PvP modes add some much-needed variety that helps compensate for the main campaign's shortcomings. Ultimately, Legends has a great foundation for future updates and is a good game to play over a long weekend.
-
Oct 16, 2023Minecraft Legends is a strategy game that takes place in a closed map full of villages and strongholds, where you must defend the first ones and assault the second ones. In addition, points of interest will appear on the map, where you will have to investigate in order to increase your skills. However, it’s a game with hardly any mechanics nor exploration, something that may not be a problem for newcomers but will sure be for the fans of the genre.
-
May 9, 2023A refreshing take for Minecraft.
-
May 4, 2023Minecraft Legends is a real time strategy game with a Minecraft skin for people who don’t or rarely play RTS’s to begin with. However, if you’re a fan of Minecraft or want to play with the family, go for it.
-
Apr 26, 2023Minecraft Legends is a fine strategy game that will provide plenty of entertainment for young and old alike. The gameplay is fine and that goes also for the co-op feature, which allows you to experience everything with others as well. Moreover, there is no shortage of humour. At the same time, we should note that while the gameplay is fine in itself, it feels very superficial and in the long run it gets a bit repetitive. Things to keep in mind.
-
Apr 19, 2023Minecraft Legends is an RTS-lite Minecraft experience that feels like Pikmin at times. While not the most difficult strategy game on the market, it will suit those gamers who love the Minecraft universe and will give you enough incentive and enjoyment to keep playing in the end. Once it’s all done and as the maps are procedurally created, you can start again for a slightly different experience.
-
Apr 18, 2023Minecraft Legends has its ups and down. Starting with dispatching the same units over and over again is not very interesting but the gameplay improved with settlement defence and new mobs creation. The best part is the PvP mode, with a mix of tower defense and classic strategy. Game definitely requires more content to keep players engaged for longer.
-
Apr 17, 2023Minecraft Legends is fun but lacks heart. As the franchise expands into other genres, I hoped this spin-off would reflect the creative spark that made the original the best-selling game of all time, but I’m disappointed. For example, why can’t players design walls, towers, and buildings within some basic restrictions? Even if limited to the campaign, allowing players to put their touch on the world help Minecraft Legends feel worthy of the name. If you’re looking for an accessible RTS that offers exciting and tactical gameplay, Minecraft Legends will satisfy you. But don’t expect the Minecraft name to mean much beyond branding purposes.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends seeks to enter the strategy genre in a simple and familiar way. Without being a bad game, this shows its simplicity through unpolished mechanics within a varied world but without depth.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a fun and compelling action-strategy game that is well worth checking out. While it does have issues with finicky building controls, wonky mob AI, and a lack of depth for the big strategy heads out there, more casual players will enjoy this one. The campaign doesn’t overstay its welcome, and PvP is a riot with other players, provided you’re in a party chat. If you have kids who are interested in Minecraft, Minecraft Legends is a no-brainer and a great way to introduce them to a new genre.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends takes players into the Minecraft universe in a new, fun and unique way as they lead their allies in heroic battles to defend the Overworld.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends looks like Minecraft and somewhat feels like it, as you would probably expect, but it really does play like its own proper game with the action strategy elements - even if it doesn't quite match the depth of certain other titles within the strategy genre. Overall, Mojang and Blackbird Interactive have done a good job adapting this mega video game IP to yet another category, and have definitely provided a fun multiplayer experience, despite some learning curves which might be a challenge for younger Minecraft fans and newcomers. This is a welcome introduction to the strategy genre and is worth a look if you're seeking more adventures in the Minecraft universe.
-
Apr 14, 2023The effort made to offer a wide range of units across the player and piglin faction is appreciated, but these old bones yearn for a more traditional Minecraft RTS instead. Minecraft Legends is certainly worth a try if you're subscribed to Game Pass already, but like Minecraft Dungeons, this one truly is for the franchise fans out there. There are stronger alternatives for the older gamers who simply enjoyed Minecraft for its early survival RPG vibes.
-
Apr 14, 2023A mix of RTS, tower defense, and open world epics, Minecraft Legends feels completely unique; a strategic breath of fresh air with interesting mechanics and an amazingly fun gameplay loop. But the absolutely stellar game design in Minecraft Legends is ultimately undone by bugs and AI/pathfinding issues. There is an amazing game at the core of Minecraft Legends, addictive and compelling. I'm frankly obsessed over it. But that makes it all the more disappointing that the technical implementation of the game can't support its lofty ambitions.
-
Apr 14, 2023Longevity will no doubt come from DLC, much as with Dungeons, but that ultimately leaves Minecraft Legends feeling like an incomplete experience. There are so few schematics and troop types to work with, keeping things from getting too overwhelming for those new to the genre, but leaving little else for those hoping to enjoy a new strategy game. And if you come to it hoping to find Minecraft’s signature sandbox feel, you’ll also be sorely disappointed, as the well quickly runs dry.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends does a great job at making the real-time strategy genre more approachable, even if its campaign gets repetitive.
-
Apr 14, 2023Strategy games often take themselves way too seriously whereas Minecraft Legends does the exact opposite. It’s an enjoyable, lighthearted hybrid that prioritises exploration as much as tactical battle gameplay. It’s accessible for younger audiences and RTS newbies while still being challenging at later stages in the campaign. The Minecraft Midas touch has turned another genre to gold but a few hiccups mean Legends isn’t quite a diamond.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends battles to blend its open-world adventuring with the intricacies of real-time strategy, a war that sometimes detracts from the overall fun you can have. Even so, its gorgeous environments and clever world-building inspire familiar creativity that makes up for its growing pains. Where other strategy games feature more profound complexity, Minecraft Legends has heart, and it’s hard to resist its charm. Mojang’s first expedition into this genre occasionally holds your hand too tight. But when its grip loosens, there’s a vibrant world of combat challenges to discover, ultimately making it an enticing endeavor.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is an engaging strategy game that does a great job streamlining a notoriously complex genre without sacrificing the ever-important element of choice and consequence. That said, some genre staples like assigning custom groups of units are casualties of this simplification, which is too bad because it does limit your strategic options a bit in the heat of battle. But Legends uses other recognizable elements like its worker unit Allays to great effect, and it nails the iconic Minecraft aesthetic with some of the best looking blocks around. The difficulty curve does have the potential to make the late game frustrating, but stellar cooperative and PVP play still make this RTS very worthwhile.
-
Apr 19, 2023If you don’t enjoy RTS games or aren’t a fan of the franchise, then this won’t be the game that will sway you, I can recommend this if you’re curious about how Minecraft and this genre of game can coexist and if you are a Minecraft fan in general. Overall, a great game for fans, but not for everyone.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a perfectly serviceable strategy title, especially for those who love the setting, but the lack of pacing and unit management like you'd find elsewhere in the genre brings it down a peg or two.
-
Apr 28, 2023Mojang's new proposal brings tons of innovation, not only for Minecraft but also for the genre, but it doesn't go deep in practically any aspect.
-
Apr 25, 2023Minecraft Legends may look and feel like an authentic spinoff, but with fiddly controls, contrived and repetitive gameplay design, in addition lackluster AI, it's only worth delving into for younger audiences and staunch Minecraft fans.
-
Apr 24, 2023A fairly successful meeting between two worlds, but not without problems.
-
Apr 20, 2023There's a lot of good in Minecraft Legends. The absurdity of the game is delightful at times and the tower-defense elements in both the story campaign and the first Lost Legends challenge are a taste of how the combat system can excel in the right scenario. But the story campaign's regular gameplay loop of tracking down enemy bases and overthrowing them can become tedious, especially in battles when there's a huge field of Nether between you and your foe. Gathering resources, while enjoyably quick and easy, feels so impersonal as well, making it difficult to appreciate the vibrant world you're slowly chiseling away in your war with the Piglins. The pieces to a good game are here; they just aren't yet built into a structure sound enough for me to want to spend a lot of time in it.
-
Apr 19, 2023Minecraft Legends can be commended for its impressive visuals and unique-to-Minecraft gameplay style. Unfortunately, it’s just too convoluted and too tedious. I simply did not enjoy my time with it. I don’t know how many times I would want to build a structure or mob, and I’d have to spend far too long trying to find resources. Controlling mobs is almost impossible. Gameplay just moves too fast to really utilize any sort of precision. Ultimately it comes down less to strategy and more to attrition; just keep spamming piglin bases with mobs and hope you don’t die too often. Minecraft Legends is a difficult game to recommend, even for the most hardcore of Minecraft fans.
-
Apr 17, 2023All that matters at the time of writing is the launch experience, though. Minecraft Legends is gorgeous-looking, and is thrilling in how it presents the Minecraft world from another angle. It also has a solid backbone for a captivating RTS. It just doesn’t go far enough, however - and the final result is a game that struggled to hold my attention the deeper in I got. It’ll be decent Game Pass fodder - but I can’t help but feel like this should’ve been so much more. It certainly won’t be for everyone, though I expect Minecraft-obsessed kids to have a blast regardless.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is a great option for fans of Mojang's sandbox, a gateway to the strategy genre - increasingly defined as a niche - and also an interesting activity for those who want to explore every possibility of its mechanics, although it may disappoint some by its simplicity in presentation.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends has a lot of good fundamentals, but usually doesn't take them all the way to the finish line. Defeating large enemy bases is incredibly satisfying and fun, but the lack of options to build your own large bases is disappointing.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends is ambitious and unique, and offers up a new experience for Minecraft lovers. While its PvP mode could give it some longevity, as an actual single-player strategy game, it unfortunately misses the mark.
-
Apr 17, 2023Minecraft Legends has potential, I don’t know if it will have the same level of longevity as the original Minecraft has had, and while it is very simple to command your mobs to go to a certain place and have them attack whatever is in the area, kids may struggle to adapt to the controlling of the mobs in more nuanced ways that will help get the most out of combat.
-
Apr 14, 2023A failed attempt to turn Minecraft into a real-time strategy game, that goes out of its way to be as shallow as possible and is made worse by fiddly controls and terrible AI.
-
Apr 14, 2023Minecraft Legends has good ideas, but it's ultimately held back by the decision to root its strategy action around a central hero. With a limited field of view, few command inputs, and uninteresting AI, Legends fails to generate compelling combat cycles or opportunities for creative thinking.

May 28, 2023One of the most enjoyable strategy experiences of the year [Recommended].
-
Apr 14, 2023That it’s not a very good game, and one that desperately needed a lot more development before this seemingly premature release, will matter almost not at all. It’s stunningly pretty, it lets you make friends with the Creepers, and the cutscenes are brilliant. And it matches those new pyjamas. Should they ever finish Minecraft Legends, allowing you to instantly gather your spawned troops from anywhere, fixing the atrocious UI, giving your units some vestiges of pathfinding, and hugely increasing the mission variation, I think it could be a great place.
-
Apr 19, 2023Minecraft Legends is a potential gem in the making. While it does not revolutionise the genre, it brings a refreshing twist to strategy games with its unusual third-person camera angle. Once you get the hang of it, the title becomes a real pleasure to play. We still have questions about the multiplayer, which we imagine to be really fun and promising. Its potential remains to be confirmed, but the foundations are solid. All in all, without even taking this aspect into account, Minecraft Legends is a spin-off that we consider successful, accessible and enjoyable to play. See you on the battlefield, comrades?
