Players can grapple, glide, or drive through the environment, zipping from building to building with Batman’s grapple launcher, soaring over the city with the Batglider, or cruising around in style with a range of Batmobiles and Batcycles. This is the definitive Batman game, a great tribute to the iconic hero. With an open world, enemies, vehicles, suits and an absurd amount of collectibles. All accompanied by a story that hooks you from beginning to end. Plus, it's one of the best LEGO games we've played to date and that's saying a lot. An unmissable and ideal adventure whether you are a fan of the character or not.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight brings the spirit of the Arkham games into the LEGO universe in a way that clicks. Gotham is a joy to explore, the combat feels great, and the humor keeps the darker Batman lore light without losing its charm. The lack of online co-op is a shame, but this is easily one of the strongest LEGO games in years.

There have actually been a couple of moments during the adventure where I've wondered whether I should award our absolute top rating (something I haven't done since 2021). Ultimately, the slightly too easy difficulty level and the somewhat unpolished combo system in the battles meant I couldn't quite justify it - but having said that, this is by far the best Lego game I've had the privilege of playing. There is such a vast amount to discover and unlock, and it has such excellent co-op support that I would highly recommend this to everyone.

Holy awesome video game, Batman! LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the culmination of TT Games' decades of experience and knowhow with plastic bricks, albeit one that borrows liberally from Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy. The resulting game is a joy and a fitting celebration of DC's iconic Caped Crusader.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a very enjoyable open-world adventure that celebrates Batman with great care and charm, honoring iconic films while expanding the series' gameplay with new mechanics and deeper combat. Technical flaws and limited side-content hold it back slightly, but it remains an outstanding tribute for Batman fans of all ages.

LEGO Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight therefore perfectly achieves its goal: to serve as the culmination of everything great about Batman. It refines the gameplay of the Arkham series, packs in references to the best Batman films, and ties it all together within the playful LEGO universe. The title even affords itself the luxury of being fully playable in co-op and proves incredibly generous, featuring an open world brimming with content. This makes it the most ambitious LEGO game ever released—and perhaps even the best; dare we say it! However, this standard LEGO game formula also constitutes its biggest flaw, due to levels that are far too conventional, predictable, and repetitive—especially when playing solo. If you are a Batman fan—whether you plan to tackle the adventure in co-op or gift it to a child—it’s a resounding yes. But for those awaiting a true successor to the Batman Arkham games, this serves as a fun way to pass the time, though you’d be better off waiting to see what Rocksteady has in store for the future.

Incredibly charming depiction of Batman's entire history in a game that could easily be a full-on spin-off from the Arkham series.
