Mediocre racing game. Got bored pretty fast. DLC are not worth it either. 2nd DLC feels like a more expanded WILDS campaign

I really don't get some of these great reviews.
    Good
    Nice cars
    Excellent scenery and graphics
    Nice fun story
    Bad
I have an insane computer but the slow loading and menu screens are painful.
Using a Logitech steering wheel and I just cant find settings that even resemble a drivable racing experience.
    Mouse and keyboard is ok.

My only issue is you're able to tell, pretty early on, the developers weren't exactly sure what to do with this game. At least the game is a pretty sight to behold.

They had a good run but paywalls and the whole “ppl don’t want an ordinary car version” kinda ruins it I’m on the lookout for Motorsport 8 and idk in the far future fm9 might be a last resort if you get what I mean. Solid(ish) game but like everyone says All good things must come to an end and that’s what I fear happened on the 28th September 2018. I still have a little hope but it’s deteriorating fast so the devs better get their 4$$es in gear
Well rounded but boring without anything to do

Bland. Just bland. Map is empty. nothing to write home about. Better story, but that's not what I care about in an open world racing game. Awful location for map. No car manufacturers in mexico. Only car culture is the VW Beetle. That's it. So eff this game. "Look how they've massacred my boy".

The PR stuff just broke the game, everything else is great. Driving around the city going to your target is fun until you get interrupted by drift or speed zones. Those PR stuff's just way too intrusive and has no way to turn them off.

If you haven't played a Forza Horizon game before but love the racing genre, then you must give this game a try.

It has beautiful graphics, a way array of cars and it is fun. Seriously fun in a way that few modern games are. There is a sense of freedom and exploration that you simply don't get in other racing games, and there's tonnes of content here. So why the score of 7/10? If

So why the score of 7/10?

If you have played a Forza Horizon game before, there's little here that's new. Bugs persist even if they rarely ruin your game, and there generally seems to have been a lack of attention to detail. Compared to FH4, this game feels empty and monotonous - and generally just a bit bland after you've sunk a few hours into it.

Cars are given out too freely, and wheelspins still offer far too many horns and clothing items that add nothing too the game.

This isn't a bad game - not in any way - just one that suffers from a lack of innovation and far too much hype from the creators and gaming critics.

Forza has always been one of my favourite games, I've been playing since Forza 3. But it went downhill massively after Forza horizon 3. I think the biggest issue is wheelspins. The game gives you far too much for doing absolutely nothing, to the point, where there is literally no benefit to racing because you get next to no money from it. It's such a shame because Forza horizon 1 is one of the best racing games I have ever played. It had a simple, but engaging story. You earned a fair amount of money from racing, but you still had to work for it. That is the biggest difference, Forza has now become this huge sandbox that any 4 year old, or grandparent can play with ease. Now, if I'm honest, this is still a really good game. The graphics are beautiful, there's plenty of content and online is great. But for me, I'm still salty about how much better it could be. It's hard to enjoy a game when there's no reward for playing it. If I don't log in for a few weeks, I load it up and I've been giving 14 cars, 6 super wheelspins, and god knows what else

Rant over anyway, it's worth playing if you have gamepass regardless, if the Devs are reading this, PLEASE BRING BACK THE GRIND!

It's a step down from FH4, map is boring, hot wheels dlc is weak. Only thing they did great are car sounds. For me after this much time game still has some graphical artifacts - no matter if it's set to ultra or extreme still same bugs. I regret purchasing premium edition. Definetly not worth the money.

This is probably gonna be an unpopular opinion but in writing it anyway. The games is based in Mexico for no other reason then every other game today is based in Mexico. Like seriously no drift rivals. Why? The colour tears are stupidly dumb and shouldn't be in any car game. Epic, blue and all that crap is just annoying at this point. It's just thrown into every game now even if it has no place there. Fortnite done it to show you how much damage the gun done which makes sense but in Forza it shouldn't be there. I preferred the older horizon games where you worked your way through each area. Now in this game, I don't know what the actual completion goal is? It's more just driving round a map doing random races. There is nothing wrong with that but I would prefer to have something to work towards. This game has got it's good parts. Handling is improved. It's generous with cars and credits (take a hint Polophony). The map isn't to bad. The AI is alright. Driving still isn't at SIM level but I think horizon is better that way. I hope FM8 is more of a SIM then keep horizon more arcade style. That would be awesome. I hope future Horizon titles remove all the dumb stuff like colour tears and stuff. Show me what I'm working towards rather then doing random races dotted everywhere. Add drifting. Expand

Forza Horzion 5 is an open world racing game. The game is set in Mexico, but honestly, it barely matters; the game is really just an open world racing thing with some minor Mexican theming. The game is set in Mexico, but honestly, it barely matters; the game is really just an open world racing thing with some minor Mexican theming. You can tell that this game was made “with the cooperation” of the Mexican tourism board and the car manufacturers, because it is basically a gigantic advertisement for visiting Mexico and buying expensive cars.

This isn’t a bad thing though, necessarily, as it gives you an excuse to race around in a variety of vehicles across over 125 courses, plus dozens of “story missions”.

Unfortunately, the game suffers a bit from the fact that it doesn’t really do enough to encourage variety; it is entirely possible to just optimize a couple cars for the various modes and never switch, and while there are achievements for doing so, you can simply ignore them.

The story, too, is quite weak; not surprising, considering what it is, but still. The main character is a “superstar” who is serving to promote the “Horizon Festival” by winning a bunch of events and otherwise doing various stunts across the landscape of Mexico. Everything is just an excuse for that, but while you and your coworkers are enthusiastic, you never really bond with any of them. The closest point is when you race in “The Vocho”, which belonged to another character’s grandfather, but in the end, there’s no real payoff.

Sadly, that’s kind of the game’s biggest flaw – there’s lots of “stuff to do” but you’re likely to actually activate most of the most interesting things early on, and the sheer number of races aren’t really super exciting when they lack any real sense of progression. It’s really just a sandbox for racing cars, and while this isn’t a bad thing, it does mean that the game just sort of peters out as you run out of things to do.

The actual core controls are pretty good, though; it’s an arcade racing game, but not super arcade, and you do actually have to pay attention to what you’re doing. The racetracks are nothing like what Mario Kart 8 provides, but they are reasonable for realistic tracks, and there’s some variety in them.

Overall, this game is decent but not amazing. It is solid enough at racing and it has a lot of content, but the lack of a strong sense of progression and, for all its spectacle, it’s general shallowness, make it a bit hard to strongly recommend. Still, if you enjoy racing games, it is worth playing.

Forza Horizon 5 is pretty enjoyable, to an extend. The game gets sort of boring after about 30 minutes of gameplay. What’s really important is the driving, and that’s where the game really excels. The driving feels amazing and the graphics are absolutely stunning. This game is far from perfect but excels where it’s important.

EDIT: I originally gave this game an 8, but I decided to lower my score because I hate it when games try to force player engagement by adding miss-able timed events.

However, the game overall is a step back from Horizon 4. Scummy microtransactions, a lackluster world (it’s beautiful, but not much to do), reused car models from, and I’m not even joking, Forza Horizon 2, and the reused and bland car sounds all make for a subpar experience compared to the previous entry, if you like Horizon you’re probably better off sticking to 4 for the time being. Forza Horizon 5 is one of the best games of the year and starts the discussion on whether a racing title like this one could be GOTY. It stands out from the rest of similar games, both in terms of technical and gameplay aspects.
