How in the world does this have an eight at the time of writing this, the battle mechanics are garbage the special abilities are basically on usable in combat and as long as you mash RB over and over again you’ll win every fight. Odyssey was the best assassin‘s creed since Black flag this feels like about 10 steps backwards.

I mean what can I say about this game besides Assassins Creed Bughalla. If you complete a pledge and don't immediately go back to talk to Randvi that area will always show on the map as incomplete. Apparently the devs have known about this for weeks but have done absolute nothing to fix it. I had roughly 80 hours in the game and the suggestion of going back to a save before that is insane. Yes let me crap 30 hours down the drain because you are too lazy to fix this. However what do you know they keep updating the Valhalla store so you can spend more money to make look cool in a game you can't freaking complete.

Great job of dumping all of your customer base with this release. Should have learned from CDPR and at least released a game without game breaking glitches, and a support team that doesn't give a **** enough to respond with real answers.

The combat is insanely brutal and engaging, the world is massive and the story is breathtaking. Stunning looking game on the Series X but alas a game mired by extensive graphical and game breaking bugs. A perfect score is not far off if it could only have been bug and glitch free. The characters, the voice acting, the music, the gameplay loop, it's all far far above previous Assassin's Creed's, just a little tweaking on the length of the game and the pacing and it would be 10/10. 140 hours later and it is an experience I will never forget. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I started this game I was absolutely blown away by how pretty it looked, the first scene had me invested in the story and the characters. It wasn't long before I was spending hours exploring the mountains, finding all the mysteries, artifacts and treasures and having a total blast doing so. The leveling up system was good and it was simple enough to get myself to the levels needed to continue with the higher level missions once I reached England, which was also completely breathtaking. I really enjoyed the storyline, particularly the asgard plot. The final section with sigurd was brilliant. All in all this game was amazing. I had a lot of fun with it. The only complaint I have is there were a few small issues towards the end, a fe bugs that tainted my experience. Meaning towards the end I was getting to the point where I just wanted it to be over and done with so that I could spend the rest of my time finding the rest of the mysteries. Also the end of the story isn't particularly clear so I was confused that a few little things weren't tied up. However I would still highly recommend it and will no doubt play through it again! Very repetitive gameplay.... Playing this on my series x was a disappointment for the visuals as they didn't look as good as origins in my opinion. Less detailed particle effects and textures and some blurry looking visuals in the performance mode (until it got patched for nice crispy 4k). Definitely didn't feel like a next gen looking experience.

For a game so focused on hand to hand and melee weapon combat, this feels quite dull to play..... The basic ai and smaller crowd sizes are disappointing. They should just drop the assassin's creed title from these games now as it just feels like a Moniker.

At the end of this game I felt as if my time had been wasted. It took me 70+hrs to complete and 'hoover up' the main quests from my nap but I sincerely hope for more focused ac titles in future a la ac unity please!!!!! Also much rather have a single character in the game not 'customizable' make / female choice - it just feels unfocused and a waste of developer resources.

Most of all the superfluous loot from Odyssey is replaced, the gear and weapons you find in Valhalla are much more quality over quantity. Finally, the game looks absolutely gorgeous on Xbox Series X. I raided all the main raids but still wasn’t able to fully boost my settlement. So you have to seek out more regular chests in the world than I did. I wish I knew to save many of my materials until later in the game- especially to boost health, upgrade weapons, and upgrade my arrow quiver. I didn’t like the present day stuff- wish they’d just abandon that altogether. But it wasn’t that much of the game. The most difficult boss for me was Goodwin. It took me quite a while to finally beat him. He was harder than Basim or Fenrir. I did not seek out the Sisters- so I can’t speak to them. Overall I ended up feeling quite happy with the game. I’m glad I spent the time with the game that I did. Granted, I loved the first AC games much more. But this is a great game by itself. I’m hoping the DLC expansions will be just as good. Overall I recommend it if this is your genre of games! I'd say it's one of the best of 2020 after Ghost of Tsushima- and waiting on Cyberpunk! Expand

I mean Odyssey was WWWAAAYYY to much whereas Valhalla is about 1/30th of the selection. I feel like they were a little too extreme the opposite way. I think the ability system is worse. Now you have to find books of knowledge to unlock new abilities instead of having them tied to progression like in Odyssey. Then there are the skill trees. Jesus Christ it makes no sense. There are 3 branches. Melee, Stealth, and.........Ranged? I cant remember for sure mostly because I can get as many melee level ups in the ranged tree as I can in the Melee skill tree. It's hard to explain, you'll see. I do however think it's totally worth a purchase. Can anyone get more bitter than someone who played Assassin's Creed back in 2012, haven't cared for past 7 games and still tries to hate it and pretend that he/she is actually fan? Get out of here, you are not a fan, you are just hater. That's it. This game is amazing, will recommend this to absolutely every gamer i meet or talk with!

It's literally battle between good and evil. Good people are these who either like and support this game OR don't like it and just play something else. It reminds me battle between Assassin's and Templars honestly. Idk maybe these haters are Templars after all, that would explain their bitterness lol. I'm not saying all Templars are automatically bad, i very much liked Elise from AC Unity, but these who give 0/10 are 100% bad ones. Am i taking it too seriously? I don't think so, to me games are art and i never gives 0/10 to games i don't like, i just ignore them, it's that simple. But when some literal haters start to hate art that i like (AC Valhalla for example) then of course it pisses me off, specially when you click on their profile and they have like last of us 2 with score 10/10. That's most easiest sign that they are just envy of AC Valhalla massive success. Expand

Negatives/Could be better: Needs some improvements, but overall very solid, specially after patch 1.0.4 that fixed lots of issues for me.

I personally absolutely, deeply hate Assassin's Creed 3, i have played it only 1 time and i will absolutely never play it again. It takes you 7 hours to play as actual main character while doing most boring missions possible. Just no. While i have finished Unity, Black Flag and Origins at least 3 times. So there's that. I personally really like Valhalla and it reminds me these three games i mentioned. It's not me trying to hate people who like AC 3, even tho i'm very, very tired of them whining about Desmond's death, but again, if you don't like these new games, just give it up. That's it. But to other millions of fans who have played and enjoyed this series past 7 years i would recommend this! All the classic elements like hood, hidden blade, one shot assassinations are back. They removed all the grind from Odyssey, you get 2 skill-points at the time and it's very easy to get them. Story is interesting, characters are likable, graphics look incredible. That's all i have to say. Expand

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the newest action role-playing video game published by Ubisoft which was developed by its Montreal studio. Assassin's Creed ValhallaAssassin's Creed Valhalla is the newest action role-playing video game published by Ubisoft which was developed by its Montreal studio. It is the twenty-second release in the Assassin's Creed series to date. Assassin's Creed Valhalla created a tremendous amount of hype leading up to the next generation of hardware releases, and everyone was waiting to play it. Assassin's Creed Valhalla begins in the late 9th century in 873, when the Vikings invaded Britain to find a new land to thrive within. For the first few hours you will be in the icy suffering from political drama of ninth-century Norway where warrior Eivor having deep conversations about the future of her clan. You will step into the shoes of the Viking Eivor which can be male or female character that decision is left up up to you. Eivor leading his or her clan to conquer lands in England after Norway becomes crowded with war. Along the way, Eivor proves to be both a fearsome warrior and a loyal friend and family member. It's a duality, says narrative director Darby McDevitt, that will have Eivor pulled in different directions throughout the course of ''Valhalla'' and the decisions for where the character goes will be with in the players hands. For me Assassin's Creed Valhalla might be the best game in AC franchise. Its beautiful and huge open world makes you feel like you are walking in England however from time to time you can feel sparse in places but its habitat and environment changes your perception eventually. Eivor is a brilliant warrior and fearless and game makes you feel so realistic that you can see Eivor as a real human being. With a powerful system such as Xbox Series X, this game can be played 4K 60fps smoothly in its amazing open world and looks simply stunning. Ubisoft changed Assassin's Creed Valhalla and took the series in to another level over the improved RPG focused Assassin's Creed Odyssey. New quest types, assaults, raids new mechanics that unfamiliar with series such as ''no regenerating health''. Hitting in this game feels realistic better than ever, and sound and visuals in finishers look absolutely fantastic. With Assassin's Creed Valhalla Ubisoft created a new, innovative RPG-stealth gameplay. In the end this is the best in the series to date and by far my favorite. Does the new generation of gaming powered console assist in this, I'm sure it does but The AC long running franchise has rarely held up to the expectations of the time it was released and once again Ubisoft hits the mark of expectations for lucky early Xbox Series X owners. If you purchased a new console put this one on your must have list this holiday season if you haven't picked it up already. Expand

Not terrible, but pretty dull and repetitive. Just constant quests of "go here and fight these". The settlement building was a good idea but doesn't really do much. Like the rest of a game, a shell of an idea that quickly just reverts back to fighting and grinding.

Clearly rushed for the new console generation, bugs everywhere. Nothing game breaking but just annoying and spoil the fun.

It is highly satisfying completing a story arc or traversing the world and finding things that you felt that other players might not have stumbled across due to the nature of the open world and its use of way finders. The lack of load times on Xbox Series S is truly impressive given the nature of environments, landscape, and elements that are present on screen. There were a few issues from characters floating in mid-air, bizarre enemy AI, and straight up freezes, although these were far and few between given the scope of it all. Intuitive and varied combat help keep things fresh, even if it does take a fair few hours of gameplay to really get going. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a thoroughly enjoyable, open-world RPG that is an absolute must for Xbox owners.

In many aspects Valhalla resembles most of Ubisoft’s games, but fortunately progression feels a lot more natural this time around. The game’s not perfect but I had lots of fun conquering new territories, plundering churches, and pillaging coastal villages while following a mature story and enjoying gorgeous, believable medieval Britain.
