This is definitely one of the worst, boring, uninteresting wrestling games of the next gen era. There is literally no creativity or thought put into these wrestling games anymore. This game is a total ripoff you basically get the exact same game every year with little to no effort or improvements at all. The only new feature we got was a LAME backstage brawl which also sucked because you only have one area to brawl in. Even playing with all of the legends pack this game was still boring to play. Wrestling games used to be so awesome when they had thought and creativity to them even if they were sort of goofy that's what made them fun to play. Now they are just stale and flat out boring the fact that they charge 60 $ for this crap with no improvements or anything that has changed at all is crazy. It's really sad that in 2017 id still rather play old classics like Here comes the pain or shut your mouth gamest hat were made years ago then this boring garbage. SAD Expand

If I was scoring the game on all that I would probably give it an 8.5. Unfortunately the game is mired in a litany of bugs and glictches. The fanboys will deny this and tell you "you're playing the game wrong" but this is the buggiest, most unstable game I have ever played.

You can't edit cards in Universe. The game just adds random matches to the card at the end every time you try to edit something. Good luck having a brand split or separate promotions. The game randomly injects superstars from other shows into your cards. Wrestlers don't come out with titles. The text in the promo system is plagued with spelling and grammar issues. Did this game even go through QA testing?

The worst part is the constant crashing. People are having their games crash only to find when they relaunch the game, all their save data is gone. The crashing was so bad for me that I finally got fed up, called MS customer support and asked for a refund.

WWE 2k17 has some improvements but is plagued with bugs and issues. 2k released an unfinished, unplayable game. Hopefully people don't experience as many issues as I did. However if you do, don't hesitate to get a refund. 2k should be held to account for releasing such a broken game.

The game is a complete crap, wrestler always start off the match by grabbing his opponent and execute a powerful move. That's not the way to go because the opponent is still fresh. That's only two things you can do once the match start, either lockup or strike and nothing else. The game is almost the same as 2k15, very little fist fight, they mostly do running strike and grab throughout the entire match and nothing else. Irish whip opponent jump over the top rope and land on the apron like a spaceman in the royal rumble, eliminate opponent by grabbing the face and move back and forth, i mean, what kind of wrestling moves is this?? standing there dizzy for 30sec, auto roll out of the way after being stomp. No referee stop wrestler for relentless beat down end up messing the fighting and wrestling gameplay that turn into a clown circus. Expand

    Awful, awful game.

I'm a huge wrestling fan and as such I'm so disappointed with this. There's many issues with this game, here's just a few; 1. Lag Not online lag, but there is a noticeable delay between pressing a button and the reaction on-screen. This is especially important (and infuriating) with pinfalls and Royal Rumble eliminations. 2. Submissions The submission system

    2. Submissions
The submission system is completely broken. The idea isn't bad, but again, the input on the controller does not match up with the movement of the dial.

    3. No voices in career mode

    4. Online lag

    5. Outdated wrestlers (ADR) and entrances (Strowman)

    6. No create-a-move function

    7. No showcase mode

I'm gutted that this isn't a good game, I really wanted it to be. If you're a huge wrestling fan, or even just a fan of the games - do NOT buy this game. The gameplay issues ruin what could otherwise be a mediocre experience.

It feels like 2k tried their best to make this a good game, but ended up making it worse. I have a few WWE games (Raw VS Smackdown 2011, WWE 13, WWE 2k14, WWE 2k15, and 2k16 on PC) and I think that 2k16 really messed up the whole thing for anyone who has been playing the WWE games for a while because they changed the controls for a lot of the little mini-games (such as pinning, submission,It feels like 2k tried their best to make this a good game, but ended up making it worse. Since getting 2k17 (last December) I have probably played the game for about 5 hours tops. It just isn't as fun, they revamped the entire custom character thing, scrapping pretty much everything cool about it (body morphing etc.) and even though they might say this game has "one of the biggest rosters ever" don't plan on having a lot of characters available without unlocking. The last 2k WWE game that was good was 2k15, 2k wants to try to change things up but they are just screwing it up more. I do NOT plan on getting the next WWE 2k game unless they can prove to me that it's worth my money and time because this most definitely is NOT worth the $60 they are asking for. Expand

Wow this is a terrible game. Firstly as a next-gen game the graphics are pretty poor. Outside of character models, which aren't that brilliant anyway, nearly everything else is pared down. A ton of the roster is locked to begin with and you are expected to earn (or buy) VC their in game currency to unlock an admittedly huge list of classic wrestlers.

A ton of the roster is locked to begin with and you are expected to earn (or buy) VC their in game currency to unlock an admittedly huge list of classic wrestlers.

The issue is you'll not want to do that because the gameplay is probably amongst the worst I've ever seen on a next-gen game.

Reversal windows are absolutely tiny and nigh on impossible to time. Again this wouldn't be a problem if it were a level playing field however the CPU will reverse you nearly every single time. Even when you're playing as 95 OVR Brock Lesnar against 69 OVR Simon Gotch. So what essentially happens is you can spend whole minutes watching your player get absolutely destroyed by a significantly weaker opponent as you miss reversal windows over and over and over again. The CPU effortlessly chains together moves giving you almost no chance to change anything that happens on screen. When you get a chance to attack you'll be reversed I would say 7 out of 10 times and once reversed it will start the chain of reversal failures again. Basically the only way to win is to button mash, not focusing on what move comes of it so that the CPU maybe doesn't have time to reverse you and then unleash your finisher as quickly as possible. This is on normal difficulty and I'm astounded how bad they messed this up because honestly a wrestling game is probably one of the simplest beat em up ideas to implement.

The moves also are drab and with no real flair. A finisher is carried out with the same aplomb as a regular suplex there is no change in presentation or effects to make it apparent that THIS move is of a different standard to the rest. There isn't even that many moves for each character and none of them feel like they have any weight to them.

There is a variety of modes but I was literally shocked to the point of laughing at how tiny the backstage area is. I remember PlayStation One games that had more variety and areas than this AAA attempt in 2017. The backstage area consists of one lobby room, one corridor, one dressing room and the commissioners room....and they need a loading screen to access this.

All in all I got this game through Game Pass so it's not really cost me anything more than the time it took it download it and I'm still vastly disappointed in it. I cannot believe how they screwed this up, you get the licence for WWE and put a semi decent combat system in and you'd have a good if not great game. Rarely do you see a game fail so obviously at its core mechanics as this does. Avoid this like the plague.

You will get out of WWE 2K17 exactly what you put into it - be it a quick go for exciting ring action or an in-depth wrestling simulator which you can sink many hours into.
