This game made me rethink my opinion of open world games. Graphics are stunning. Attention to detail in game is unlike anything else I've seen. Game is very balanced. Gameplay is fun solo or with a squad of 4 players. I know it's early in the year, but this may be my "game of the year 2016". We will see.

Tom Clancy's The Division is a game I have long been waiting for, and the main question is if the game lived up to my expectations. From my score of 8/10 you can guess that yes, I liked it, my experience was a very fun one and lived up to a lot of my expectations in providing what I would call a Tom Clancy game. Me being a big Tom Clancy fan, either it be his games or books I have enjoyed a number of games based after his work and The Division is one of them. However, this is not my favorite Tom Clancy game, far from it actually, I feel like Ubisoft and Massive games felt the need to tag on Tom Clancy so it would sell, and sell it did but I can't help but feel disappointed at the fact that I finished the game and immediately wanted more, I actually just stopped playing. The story to the game was pretty good, I loved the idea of sleeper agents, it had its fair share of unique characters like my personal favorite Paul Rhodes. The gameplay was the best part hands down, the cover mechanics was similar to watchdogs with the cover to cover system and really nice shooting effects. The darkzone is a really cool idea mixing RPG looting style with the constant fear of a rogue agent in the mist of you, and even at times your own group. Safe to say I enjoyed the division and excited for what the DLC can bring to the table, if it is anything like Destiny, then the game will just get better and better as time moves on. 8/10 A great experience with somethings holding it back, but as a result the game holds up well and deserves to be known for that Expand

I absolutely despise this game. First of all, it's online only, as in you can't play it at all without internet, and prepared to have the game crash frequently if you don't have great internet. This also means you can't save, which wouldn't be a huge issue, except these idiot developers decided to make hour long missions with "no respawn" checkpoints and impossibly hard tasks. It's honestly the worst, these developers have no common sense. Secondly, it's filled to the brim with DLC, which is incredibly distracting - hard to tell what is an actual part of the game and what you need to pay extra for. Pretty shady and nasty business model. I have to stop, because I hate this game so much I could keep on going and going forever. Never buy, consider avoiding all Tom Clancy games in the future. The Division is a great open world shooter. There are tons of guns to choose from, different play styles in the forms of perks/skills, and endless hordes of baddies to shoot. There is even tons of gameplay after the plot is finished. The inclusion of commendations and field data (Phone recordings and such) add a sort of scavenger hunt aspect to the game.

This is one of the most enjoyable games in years, and completely makes up for the travesty that was Destiny. Everything here is on point - the gameplay, the shooting mechanics, level design, atmosphere. It is very easy to get sucked in The Divisions' fascinating world. Finally we have an RPG shooter on console worth getting into.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ll admit it outright- I was more than hyped for the release of Tom Clancy’s The Division in more ways than I can possible explain. The basic premise of an unforgiving romp through a devastated New York City struck chords favorable to Crysis 2 within me and that was fine by my standards. Add to that the fact that it was the first Tom Clancy game I’d been thoroughly excited for since Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and you’ve got yourself quite the hype train rumbling down the tracks.

What transpired is something altogether different than I’d initially imagined and envisioned, although that’s not to say it was terrible or that it hasn’t evolved over time to become a closer image to what I expected. As with any MMO/RPG, The Division fell into many of the same traps that Destiny did in the year or so before. The saving grace for these games is that the developers can take this into account and slowly update it enough with each new patch or content release and bring the game closer in line with what players expected or asked for. The disappointing part is that this takes time and not everyone has the patience to wait for a game to become what it should’ve been from the onset.

Once you eliminate some of the ironically farfetched aspects of the game and its gameplay and factor in the realism and attention to detail, The Division is quite the grandiose picture of a devastated NYC after all. The environments are certainly one of the stronger aspects both in aesthetic pleasure and tense action forced upon you by harrowing conflict in close quarters with an adaptable enemy. The cover system is quite progressive and you’ll certainly need to utilize the variety of environmental protection as you take the fight to rioters, looters, and heavily armed militia forces attempting to make the most of a bad situation. The enemies you’ll face are some of the smartest in terms of functioning thought processes, even if they’ll often open themselves to easy dispatching as well.

When I think of the Tom Clancy brand of games I often immediately think of action-packed tactical outings such as Splinter Cell or Ghost Recon. Truthfully, in the last few years the TC games we have seen have either been a disappointment or fallen somewhere outside of this traditional category. We have had wonderful additions to the Splinter Cell family, but the newest Ghost Recon titles have been far from great in terms of following the tactical baseline. I’m all for trying new things out and The Division is a testament to that for the TC label and surely an influence ultimately for Ghost Recon: Wildlands as well, seeing as it shares the same genre type. What I mean to say is The Division has broken some new ground for better or worse- it does what it states and no more or less, considering the fact that it sticks to tactics and ultra-realistic firefights.

While I recognize that even now it still has its flaws, if I had to recommend whether or not to purchase the game I would definitely say to go for it if you can secure the complete package- DLC and deluxe items or whatever else may be available to you. Microsoft, Steam, and Play Station Network all often offer deals on titles that have been out for some time and packages as well so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find on any main platform. Whereas Rainbow Six: Siege is a great game bogged down by paid content and premium status packs and an initial barebones game in terms of content, The Division only really offers three major expansions and the rest of its paid content is mostly cosmetic. I’m glad that Ubisoft has foregone some of its typical shenanigans concerning paid and premium content and followed more along the lines of Bungie and Destiny.

Ultimately if I were to assign the game a score it would have to be somewhere in the 7.0-8.0 range, even as of now. I’d certainly lean towards the 80% mark rather than anything lower than 75% however, but I cannot say the game doesn’t still have its fair share of glitches, bugs, and design flaws at times. What is there is approachable and definitely enjoyable, it’s just a matter of persistence and patience as well. I definitely enjoy the frantic feel of combat both against computer generated enemies and player controlled foes in the PvP/PvE Dark Zone. The Division is certainly an interesting take on hybrid shooters, that much is certain.

The dark zone is the best part, having to extract your loot.

The only negative this about The Division is the PVP..during the missions and PvE encounters you use cover and tactics; but PVP seems to always descend into players running around in circles trying to get a shot in with a shotgun. Other weapons in my experience are useless in PvP. I don't really see the point in it.

Apart from that the game is nearly spot on.

That said this games has it flaws. Character customization sucks, not many options when you create your agent, still seems like you're on Beta. Moments when in game you are just walking with no real threat. Not many weapon variety, but firing your weapon is tons of fun.
Dark Zone is intense, and I do mean intense. This is where you do feel the threat. Trying to extract some weapons just to have some NPCs come and kick your arse is hardcore. There's also the threat of not knowing if the other players will betray you or help you.

Storywise I don't care much, I mean it's not that bad, but the fun side of the gameplay just wants to keep shooting and killing every RIker or Cleaner instead of listening to the story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A Grinding Game with a good story. Whenever I first heard about "The Division" I was just getting burned out of Destiny and ultimately very annoyed with that game., and a lot of people were comparing The Division to Destiny which was making me reluctant to buy or even look at the game to be honest. However after the game released a bunch of my friends picked it up and since the game features co-op I figure I would too. When i saw the premise I thought i was walking into another boring grinding game with little in game story, but The Division proved me wrong. What i got was a game that had a very intriguing story and very fun for me to play in co-op with my friends or by myself to explore the world that Ubisoft has built. There is a lot of attention to detail in the programming which i appreciate such as when you are walking through the snow you can look down and see the Boot prints that you are leaving. Ubisoft has also done a very good job at filling in the blanks of the story telling as to how New York went to hell with the included in game intel files and while yes there are a ton of them for you to collect they all seem to offer some interesting detail about the progression of the Green Poison Virus and the decline of society. While I honestly love this game there are a few complaints as I do seem to run into disconnection issues every now and then (I couldn't log into the game initially when i was trying to start playing but restarting my Xbox fixed that and every other time I've had connection issues) and the game whenever you become a higher level likes to spawn bosses randomly;y throughout the world at not the most opportune times but other than that I think it's a great game and would recommend it too anyone who likes grinding games with interesting stories. If you aren't necessarily a fan of grinding games but you like good stories then I'd recommend renting it from Redbox or Gamefly before purchasing it. Expand

The game begins with a very basic character creation system, you can choose between a few different head shapes, skin colors, tattoos, scars etc. Nothing really fancy, and "Basic" is the key word here because everything in this game is just like your character's creation: basic.

The missions to gain credits to develop your HQ are basically all the same and there are a lot of them: Secure an area (understand: kill 50 mobs), Protect some supplies (understand: kill 50 mobs before they destroy the supply boxes) and Collect some stuffs and bring them back somewhere (understand: kill 50 mobs and spend 5 minutes walking with a heavy suitcase which slows you down drastically).

The main and secondary missions are a bit more inspired, yet nothing to go crazy about. The game is heavily scripted (ie: the enemies behind huge glass doors on the top floor of a building won't move if you haven't cleared the lower floors first...) and the AI is pretty basic not to say stupid.
The mobs are basically all the same with a few skin differences: The gangsta with a weapon (baseball bat or a shield + axe or gun), and the "cleaners" with a weapon (a flame thrower or a gun). The bosses are uninspired too (mostly a normal mob on steroid) and there is little difficulty defeating them.

The weapons customization is pretty cool though, you have 6 mod slots on your weapons to improve them. That's very cool and they really affect your weapons stats. The talent tree is also interesting even if you will most likely use the same talents all the time.

Unlike Destiny, you won't see any players in the PVE part of the game (except your team mates of course), and you will only see other players in some secure areas such as your HQ.
The PVP zone (the Darkzone) is fun (except when being chain killed by a group of 4 rogue agents) and stressful. You never know if that guy who helped you for an hour will betray you when it will be time to extract your loots.

Verdict: 6/10, that's not a bad game, but it's far from what I was expecting after watching the trailers.

It's comparable to Destiny. You will be spending a lot of your time doing side missions to level up and/or obtain better gear. Along the way, you'll learn about how the Green Poison virus destroyed New York and how the Division is attempting to restore order. It's a little generic, but hey, it's still a better story than Destiny. The game has up to 4 player co-op, vital if you plan to do challenging missions or Dark zone (where the PvP takes place). After level 30, expect to be grinding Dark zone for days as most of the buyable high-end gear is locked until you hit DZ rank 50.

The longevity of this game will definitely depend on how Ubisoft handles the community, how often they add content, and how they balance the game. As of right now, there isn't much reason for me to continue to play it other than mindlessly killing players in the Dark zone or trying to get slightly-better gear for practically no reason.

To sum it up: It's a fun but somewhat barebones action-RPG, but it really only has maybe 40-50 hours of solid content before you hit the loot grind wall. For better or worse, it's the "New Destiny".

No doubt the best aspect about this game is the state of the art cover system that creates seamless game play. Never before have I experienced a first or third person shooter with such smooth movements from cover to standing fire positions.

The second best aspect of this game maybe how easy it is to play with your friends. Not matter the level or the area of your friends, you will always be able to fast travel to their position and help them out with their missions (beside the dark zone). One of the negative aspects of this (or positive depending how you view it) is how quickly one can level to the max level of 30 by playing with high ranking friends. I myself reached the max level in just 2 days while not completing close to everything on my map.

The biggest question of this game is if its built to last. There are many similar elements to games like Destiny with leveling and weapon systems. But unlike destiny, The Division lacks a defining PVP game mode. The Dark Zone offers a some what watered down version of how players can challenge each other but doesn't offer much in terms of testing your PVP skills. With the ability to reach level 30 in just a few days and the dark zone offering not much more than looting, I'm not sure how this game is going to last. It is possible that the DLC can still save the day for The Division but it would have to include another game mode. Right now, it seems limited to just expanding the map to more of the same.

Overall, this is still a must play game for 2016. It is a very unique game that smoothly combines an open world with action, playing with friends and looting. I just cant see it lasting as long as some of its competitors.

However, everthing is just .......dull. I have to admit, I have not got to the end game but the missions I played had me fighting the usual faceless goons but instead of dying after a head shot it simply lowers their hit points. while this feels fine when fighting giant aliens in destiny or Demons in diablo it just feels...... off in the hyper realistic world they have created for this. shooting a whole shot gun clip into someones head and having them laugh it off is just weird.

The same thing goes for the loot drops. in fantasy games, getting the "super heavy Dragon sword of death doom" is awesome! in the devision, getting an Ak47 that I have seen in every game ever with slightly higher stats than my last one is Meh. Don't get me started on the armour, after 20 minutes of my first group instance I got a, Wait for it ....... beanie hat. Eh great?

I also expected huge boss fights against Tanks, Apcs, Elite black ops squads with a legendary back story. Even Crazy serial killer types infected with the games virus would have done! in the 10 or so hours I have played it has just been generic military types over and over and over. This theme has seriously been done to death now.

The player base obviously shows that I am in the minority here, but I just don't get the fascination with this one.

The graphics look nice and and the world is somewhat big, but the Game is a repetitive grind fest where you go there, shoot me, defeat the boss and repeat. The dark zone sucks since if you kill a player your automatically get a bounty despite the Game telling you the dark is a free for all and there are no rules. This game sucks.

I'm going to start with the positives of the game. The graphics. The graphics in this game are beautiful, almost life like, combined with the soothing soundtrack it makes for an immersive looking New York City. Another thing this game gets right is its character and weapon customization. The initial character creator is absolute garbage, with only 8 types of faces to choose from and minimal hairstyles to choose from, your character doesn't feel like you or like who you want to be. But the main customization comes from the clothing, there are multiple different types of jackets, trousers, shirts, shoes, scarfs and hats to choose from. This gives you a big choice in what you want to look like. Do I want to be a fully kitted out military fighter with the tactical shirt and combat trousers? Or do I want to look like a normal person trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland wearing my running shoes and jeans? There are multiple ways to make our character look. Another big customization factor is your weapons. Multiple attachments and camouflages make your gun look unique. I haven't met someone with the same camouflage or attachments as me.

Now it's time to talk about why the game has a low score. The game is a maths simulator.
Don't get me wrong the first 30 levels of this game are anything but that, being very fun and enjoyable to play through. But after you complete the various encounters and side missions there is hardly anything to to do and what there is to do is a huge grind. The Incursions (Raids) are fun but after doing them once it becomes a chore. The loot system and 'Gear Score' system is absolutley dreadful. The main aim is to work towards gear score 240 gear, which if you want you have to complete the hardest incursion on the hardest difficulty only to be awarded the same gun that you got the last time you played it. But the catch is you can't just jump into the hardest incursion no, no, no you have to complete the easier one first to only be awarded gear score 214 gear. This ultimately means that you are literally just wasting time in your life until you get to that final strike which has to be completed 20-25 to finally get max gear score and then what? Just pub stomp some people in the dark zone? Ubisoft intended you to play through the lowest level incursion 20-25 times and the play the next one 20-25 times. While doing this you are trying to min/max your gear, so yes you may get the best gear, but if it has bad stats then whats the point in even having it? This is when the game becomes a maths simulator. You have to get the highest numbers in one area and then the highest numbers in one area while also getting gear score 240 gear. NO. Ubisoft just made this game as a cash grab. Absolute Garbage. Especially when being asked to fork over £100 for the game and the 2 lackluster DLC's. Honestly go play Destiny. Destiny isn't a overly good game but it beats this trash.

This game is honestly amazing... Anyone that complains about this game just flat out sucks at it cause they keep dying and they usually blame it on the game. You have to plan out what build you want then farm for it then you can bring it in the dz and show it off. Only problem are NPCS are too good but they are getting nerfed tomorrow. Love the game and can't wait for the update 1.4 tomorrow!!!

My 8 points rating comes as follows:

The story never really comes into the air and remains flat until the end.
This also applies to the main characteristics.
This is not a spoiler, by the way!
If you are expecting a film-rich story here, you will be disappointed and should not think about a purchase.

Despite the bad story, one of the great strengths of the game is the gameplay / gunplay. The game is filled with a gamepad as well as buttonplay super.
Who likes third-person shooter will be happy here.

Here you can hunt or spare other players in the team or alone.
So the PvP area of the game.
In addition to PvP, there are additional missions and main missions PvE.

The shooter is based on the SnowDrop engine and this looks great despite the downgrade. New York looks great by day / night by sharp textures and fashionable!

In the end one can say one thing: Who likes Grinding, Teamplay and graphics will be happy here.
However, anyone who expects an epic story will be deceived.
The game is a lot of fun.

The game is not your typical shooter where you can run through without ever dying, COD this is not. You will die, a lot. You will grind for gear and guns, a lot. But, that is one reason it is fun, you are actually working to achieve something.

In the beginning it did get a bit tedious, but I have never played a game where the developers offer so much free loot and DLC for at such a fast rate. Even after beating the main story there is still yet so much to do. The DLC's also do not just offer an extra map, they open up larger areas, as well as new game modes. thsi game is many games all rolled into one.

Now...for the Dark Zone.... You will want to break your controller multiple times. It is a great new concept of PvPvE. meanign all players are friendly except for the AI. But, a player can go 'rogue' and take you out if they want or start a fight. there is awesome loot in the DZ you have to extract and other players can steal it from you. I cursed the game developers so many times for this creation, but it was because I was simply butthurt.

For what you get with this game I am shocked it is now cheap. It is jam packed full of content. A must own.

If you have people to play with I'm sure it can be very fun, except if you don't very soon it becomes the polar opposite of fun. That and the small amount of things you can do ends up with a game that's just too restrictive for its own good, but still somehow makes you want more. Rating - 70%

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played The Division as a solo player (didn't have Xbox Gold at the time) and it progressively became harder and harder. It was a worthwhile game, yet if you plan on playing it single player - there will be difficulty.

    STORYLINE:
In terms of the storyline - I have no complaints with it. It set out a vast, diverse narrative in the ruined streets of New York. As the player character, you were able to feel an urgency to try and regain some form of structure and coherency to authority in New York when retaking the Base of Operations and establishing the three wings (Tech, Medical, Security).

Now, in terms of missions, playing solo was a challenge after roughly level 15.
During the mission General Assembly (specifically in the parking garage section), I encountered AI that was able to lock onto me in an aimbot manner (the enemy was facing a wall, not looking at me in any way and still able to fire his gun as if he was facing me). There were definitely moments that I had to effectively run and filter enemies down a corridor as it was too much for a solo player.

Roughly towards the middle of the game, there are elements of grinding that you need to do to level up. Previously when you did the main mission, it would provide enough experience to push you into the next level threshold - yet this slowly dies out and leaves the player to hunt for experience through fairly repetitive side missions.

    WEAPONRY:
The Division had a decent range of weapons with aspects that you could modify like most games in this genre (looking at the Ghost Recon games). You could put suppressors on handguns and lasers on the under-barrel and have the weapons damage output change due to the modification. Unlike Ghost Recon games where you can scavenge for the weapon modifications, you had to buy them from merchants. Higher levels also meant higher prices which led to thinking about whether you really needed to buy the suppressor or whether you should upgrade your bulletproof vest.

    CHARACTERISATION AND COMPANIONS:
In the opening of the game, we are presented with a fairly decent character creator screen. There's a small variety of face types, skin tones and hairstyles to choose from which you can then tie in with warpaints and tattoos.
Aside from the generic outfit that your agent spawns in, there's a fair amount of customisation for clothing - with ordinary pieces of clothing like hoodies and shirts that you can find in the torn streets of New York or clothing pieces from Encrypted caches - providing you have a key to open it. Under the security wing, you can also unlock the clothing merchant to peruse any items of clothing or weapon skins that you may not have that are being offered. Ubisoft Club also offers some variation on clothing items/weapon skins.
Surprise, you can dress your agent fairly well in pandemic-ridden New York. Who knew?

Throughout the game, our main 'companion' is Faye Lau. I say companion in a loose term, seeing as she sustains damage in the tutorial phase to make herself be restricted to the Base of Operation and direct us over radio communication. I quite enjoyed Faye's character in the game - she portrays emotion well - from annoyance that she's stuck in the Base of Operations and not being able to help out as she had previously intended, to concern for her sister and the first wave agents. There were certain moments that dialogue felt dull, but overall, NPC's interactions with us, the agent, were OK.

    MOVEMENT:
Movement in the Division was pretty standard. The duck to cover run worked quite well, with only a few times that it cancelled itself midway without me telling it to do so. Sprinting was also the bog-standard, minus the fact that our agent can constantly run without a stamina gauge, which made some fights cheesy as I was able to bypass fights by straight sprinting and vaulting. It also made the aforementioned running down a corridor to filter enemies easier.

In my opinion, The Division is an RPG dressed up as an FPS and it works quite well. I didn't experience any multiplayer elements and my entire experience was a solo climb to level 30, but it was rather enjoyable when the AI didn't aimbot or my agent fall through the floor.

    Reasons:
    - When you complete a mission the next mission will be 50x harder even if you’d first started the game it would be that hard
    - Gaining XP is not worth your time because you’d get under 10 XP Points which is ****
    - The Dark Zone is Bull**** because you’d required Xbox Live Gold or PSN if your on the PS4
    - When you’d have a weapon with a certain amount of damage you’d only gain weaker weapons even if you’d defeated a boss or a powerful enemy and that also applies with armour
    - There is no offline mode, basically Ubisoft is telling everyone on console to Buy a **** online subscription nobody will because PS Plus is $80AUD and Xbox Gold is $10 so every year your paying $120
    - Whenever you’d expect something in this game it won’t exist or it will be the opposite of what your expecting

What is expected and must be added:
    - Offline Mode (We are not wasting our money on Online Subscription)
    - 1-4 Local Player Compatibility
    - Better Levelling System
    - Every Mission not being 50x harder then the previous Mission
    - Less or no features Locked behind a paywall (aka Online Subscription)
    - Having no enemies that are lower level than you one shot you even if the armour is up to date

Expand

Oyunun grafikleri iyi. 2021 in sonlarında oyunu tanıma fırsatım oldu. A good but not excellent game.

Delivers all you want in an shooter game like with a different approach, RPG-based, so don't expect to kill someone with a headshot!

Ubisoft hasn't built a title like this before, and the inexperience clearly shows – The Division seems to be a victim of its ambitions. The good news is that now, games can be updated, and the flaws in the system aren't so thick that they're beyond repair. With proper attention, Ubisoft could easily pivot the game towards the vision it represents. We can only hope that The Division's long-term story is just beginning.

A generous, rewarding shooter with some of the best multiplayer gunplay on Xbox. [May 2016, p.80]

We have a huge city at our disposal, many hours of fun and possibilities of replaying the game either alone or with friends. The Division has become the best-selling Ubisoft IP in the first 24 hours and we are not surprised, it gives freedom to the players and offers them the opportunity to explore this post-apocaliptic world.
