A peculiar and unique title, with a skillful mix of platform, roguelike, rpg, survival and puzzle elements and a very effective artistic design.

The Deer God is an intriguing platformer that manages to tell a thought provoking story while being visually stunning along the way. Despite never managing to reach its full potential, there are enough interesting gameplay mechanics here to make it worth playing.

A decent platform adventure, but one that struggles with its identity.

The Deer God mostly stumbles over its random nature and lack of explanation. It is the kind of game that is best enjoyed with a FAQ explaining all the systems and how to progress. Still, even with that the random nature really drags down some of the quests.

Glorious art is a feast for the eyes, but if you've ever played a platformer, you won't be able to shake the feeling you've seen this all before. [Nov 2015, p.80]

There's no denying that there is potential here and there are some very touching moments, but the flaws are so game breaking that at times it's just not any fun to play.

Don't waste your time with The Deer God. graphics are so pixelated that you can't tell what your looking at. there's no clear goal, no reason to solve puzzles, no reason to care or continue playing. Just run, jump (blindly), fall into trap, die, then repeat. Absolutely worthless. Full Review »

The graphics are so pix-elated that it's hard to determine if an object is an edible plant or a frog that somehow is able to hurt the main character. It has puzzles that make no sense and you don't even have to "solve" them. Just keep galloping to the right and move about your business. This game is free this month and it's not even worth that. Thinking about sending a bill to the published charging them for playing it. Don't bother with this one. Full Review »

I was skeptical at first but I was willing to have a go and see what this game had to offer. Oh boy was I right about this one. This really is the worst game I have played in years, maybe even the worst of all time. There is supposed to be platforming in it but the only thing I experienced is running to the right side of the screen en waiting to be attacked by some random animal (I think) or fall to my death. The story is awful and although I'm already not a fan of pixelated art this is so bad you can't even tell the difference between stuff (other reviewers mention the same so it's not my perception). I highly recommend to skip this one or try it and let everyone know this is a product that should be ashamed to get the title "game". Full Review »
