The Bards Tale ARPG is an Action Role-Playing Satire Game. Lets start of with it stars Cary Elwes as the snarky Bard, and Tony Jay as the equally smart witted Narrator. Lets start of with it stars Cary Elwes as the snarky Bard, and Tony Jay as the equally smart witted Narrator. This game takes place in, but does not directly tie into the main story of the Classic A Bard's Tale games, nor does it contain any of the Iconic locations. The races you've come to know do inhabit this part of the world, and you will encounter them all. Based on Celtic legend and roughtly modeled after Ireland the area and story feel true to the series. You play as the Bard, a shifty, snarky, opportunistic freelancer who gets caught up in the actions of a cult promising him the hand of the beautiful Princess Caleigh. This takes the Bard through a wild adventure. You play top down with control over the cameraangle. You can swing meld or fire your bow, but the Bard's best trick is to summon creatures and companions by his side with a quick tune. These companions will do everything they can to keep the Bard alive. The dialogue is everywhere, every NPC and most enemies have something to say, and don't hesitate to speak their mind. All of the scripting is wonderful, and has a constant air of satire. My favorite characters aside the Bard are the shop keeps, who have a huge and fun script. Designed as a parody of the RPG genre up to the 2004 era The Bard's Tale ARPG is in Ira own right a great RPF and shouldn't be passed up! Expand

The Bard's Tale ARPG: Remastered and Resnarkled on Xbox One is a rather delightful experience. The dialogue is hysterical, the characters memorable, the RPG mechanics solid as a rock and the combat decent. There are definite performance issues, and it is not as Remastered as it could have been, but when the core game has held up this well, does that really matter?
