LOL is all I can say. Most are rightfully giving this a ZERO based on the horrid microtransactions. That alone deserves a zero. But don't forget the woman-power campaign that keeps getting shoved down our throats these days. That deserves a ZERO as well. Congrats EA, you get a DOUBLE ZERO from me LOL...

Even if you ignore the controversy this game still lacks in many areas. The story which promised to show "the Empires side" quickly sees you switching to the Rebel side and fighting for them. On top of that there is a shallow "love story" added on top which just appears at the end for no reason, further pushing the idea that men and women cannot simply be friends or colleges without wanting to get in each others pants.

And then the campaign missions are clearly a tack on to just add just so that they can say that they have one. The difficulty is all over the place with some areas being super easy and then others killing you instantly if you are standing in the wrong spot without warning.

TLDR: Even if you just want to rent the game to play the campaign you will be very disappointed. It is a cliche story where the characters cannot decide which side they are on or even what their character motivations are. One moment they want to kill all the rebels, the next they shoot up former colleges without a second thought.

Don't buy this pay to win game. I preordered the deluxe edition despite all the news about loot crates and microtransactions, and have contacted ea 3 separate times, and have still not gotten the extra 20$ worth of stuff I should've gotten.

    Just don't buy it.

I have played it within 10 hours EA Access trial. This is a game designed as Pay-to-Win. Just to discourage such a behaviour in 60$ game - I am giving it an 0 point user score.
I cannot accept pay-to-win approach in game I have to pay the full price.
I know that now loot boxes are TEMPORARILY blocked. So I am waiting for permanently removal. Then I am open to change my scoring.

The game has a wonderful campaign with amazingly fun gameplay, alongside outstanding graphics, and sound effects. EA is also fixing the lootcrates and pay too win, so I will not hate on the game for EA's unfair systems.

Again, the original battlefront 2 had more content. The 4 hour campaign is so filled with cameos, its almost as if DICE knew the story was underwhelming. The gameplay in these missions is as basic as can be; kill baddies to get to here, defend here by killing baddies, killing baddies in the sky. Nor is the gameplay polished or fun enough for me to accept the minimalistic level design. ItAgain, the original battlefront 2 had more content. The multiplayer is the same as the first one, but with a little more content. Still no where near enough (I refer back to the first sentence). The worst part of the game is of course the progression system. Its laughable how far wrong it is. Game looks and sounds pretty though. Expand

We're not going to take it anymore, EA.

You WILL realize that paywalls and random loot rolls for cash is predatory, wrong and irresponsible. Putting content behind gambling structures so children can waste their allowance is predatory and disgusting. Paying to win is detrimental to the gaming community.

YOU WILL FIGURE THIS OUT, IF WE HAVE TO HAMMER IT INTO YOUR HEADS.

Do not buy, we need to force EA to stop this **** If we don't there will soon be no games left to play, only stupid gambling apps. Do not trust them, microtransactions will be back.

This game is pretty fun. I'm mostly an offline gamer and the story mode is terrific. I even delved into some mulitiplayer online and had a fun time w/ that as well. Great graphics, much improved from the first title. Me and the family having a lot of fun w/ this game.

    "Star Wars Bugfront 2 #gambling and #pay2win
This game is a punch in the face from EA to all Star Wars fans. Buggy and pay2win. EA placed several mechanisms to assure you won’t get credits enough, they are forcing us buy loot boxes to progress or be ganked by rich people over and over again." - PoseidonTeam this is true !!!!!

Absolutely atrocious. I won't be buying another EA title ever again. I recommend others do the same. Plenty of others have already addressed the rampant issues with the game, so I'll save my breath. What I will say is this: the *real* Battlefront II is available on GOG and Steam for $9.99.

It's not a game. It's money grab scheme with elements of game. Removing pay2win temporarily won't do anything because whole thing is built upon it. It will fall apart soon and they already looking for another way to squeeze last dollar out of you.

The loot boxes were "turned off," not "fixed". The question you gotta ask yourself is this: "Does EA care enough about the consumer to leave them off when the heat dies down?" I think their history speaks for itself on how much they care about the consumer.

Kill the star card system or game will die instantly on release.
Sad of this, played some hours, not earning anything, killed by high lvl cards all the time.

Great potential completely ruined by greedy business practices and sloppy quality control. The game would have been an easy sell but EA had to force a system into it which chokes the balance and fun right out of everything. I will set aside the money I would have spent on this game and reserve it to be spent on products by deserving independent developers, instead. The only way I *might* see myself supporting this product would be if EA acknowledges their faults, reworks these systems and guarantees never to implement non-cosmetic micro-transactions into the game in perpetuity. Good luck with that...

Solid game (albeit, very similar to every other DICE game you have ever played)... but I don't care. How long are gamers going to let huge companies like EA and Activision screw them over? Hopefully this games current user score is an indication of how fed up people with a shred of self-control are with regards to MTs. Please don't buy this game.

Battlefront II is fan service and little else; much respect to the craft, the attention to detail and the wealth of content, but sadly it just isn't enough. It's starting to feel as if Star Wars simply isn't a franchise suitable for this type of sprawling, large-scale multiplayer experience. It doesn't have it in its bones, and if DICE can't find a way to make it work, we're fearful nobody can. [Issue#195, p.72]

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will go down as one of the biggest screw ups in video game history. EA and DICE had the easiest job in the world and completely ruined it with the absolutely ridiculous and downright unacceptable progression system for multiplayer. Combine that with the incredibly boring, lazy, and cliche story campaign and you easily have the biggest disappointment of 2017.
