LOL is all I can say. Most are rightfully giving this a ZERO based on the horrid microtransactions. That alone deserves a zero. But don't forget the woman-power campaign that keeps getting shoved down our throats these days. That deserves a ZERO as well. Congrats EA, you get a DOUBLE ZERO from me LOL...

Even if you ignore the controversy this game still lacks in many areas. The story which promised to show "the Empires side" quickly sees you switching to the Rebel side and fighting for them. The story which promised to show "the Empires side" quickly sees you switching to the Rebel side and fighting for them. As in all the marketing lied to you. On top of that there is a shallow "love story" added on top which just appears at the end for no reason, further pushing the idea that men and women cannot simply be friends or colleges without wanting to get in each others pants.

And then the campaign missions are clearly a tack on to just add just so that they can say that they have one. The difficulty is all over the place with some areas being super easy and then others killing you instantly if you are standing in the wrong spot without warning.

TLDR: Even if you just want to rent the game to play the campaign you will be very disappointed. It is a cliche story where the characters cannot decide which side they are on or even what their character motivations are. One moment they want to kill all the rebels, the next they shoot up former colleges without a second thought.

Don't buy this pay to win game. I preordered the deluxe edition despite all the news about loot crates and microtransactions, and have contacted ea 3 separate times, and have still not gotten the extra 20$ worth of stuff I should've gotten.

I have played it within 10 hours EA Access trial. This is a game designed as Pay-to-Win. Just to discourage such a behaviour in 60$ game - I am giving it an 0 point user score.
I cannot accept pay-to-win approach in game I have to pay the full price.

Again, the original battlefront 2 had more content. The 4 hour campaign is so filled with cameos, its almost as if DICE knew the story was underwhelming. The gameplay in these missions is as basic as can be; kill baddies to get to here, defend here by killing baddies, killing baddies in the sky. Nor is the gameplay polished or fun enough for me to accept the minimalistic level design. ItAgain, the original battlefront 2 had more content. The multiplayer is the same as the first one, but with a little more content. Still no where near enough (I refer back to the first sentence). The worst part of the game is of course the progression system. Its laughable how far wrong it is. Game looks and sounds pretty though. Expand

We're not going to take it anymore, EA.

You WILL realize that paywalls and random loot rolls for cash is predatory, wrong and irresponsible. Putting content behind gambling structures so children can waste their allowance is predatory and disgusting. Paying to win is detrimental to the gaming community.

YOU WILL FIGURE THIS OUT, IF WE HAVE TO HAMMER IT INTO YOUR HEADS.

I will set aside the money I would have spent on this game and reserve it to be spent on products by deserving independent developers, instead. The only way I *might* see myself supporting this product would be if EA acknowledges their faults, reworks these systems and guarantees never to implement non-cosmetic micro-transactions into the game in perpetuity. So many good companies destroyed by EA. I love Star Wars and Disney has done really good with continuing the franchise with all areas but this. Disney please don't let EA destory Star Wars as well.

As a game, it is great. However, all of the effort put into making it is ruined by the blatant corporate greed that has turned it into a pay-to-win game. Instead of working towards a solution to the credit earning problem, EA attempted to justify this greedy ideology. I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment for contributing to the rating that this game deserves.

This is my first time to write review.
The reason is because the game itself sucks.
It only worth $10 and don't waste your time/money until the price get lower than $10.

We need to stop this vile threat. The pay to win mechanic means if you dont fork out hundreds of dollars ontop of this $60 purchase price, you are going to be stomped by moma's credit card.
This is an buggy pay2win free2play game, with all of the worst free2play tactics, at a premium price tag.

If you havent heard, this game has made history thanks to the evil greedy publishing company known as EA. It has the most down voted comments ever in reddit history. It has the lowest user score ever in meta critic history. It also has such a high amount of disgust and push back from the video gaming community that EA had to "temporarily remove" the microtransactions from the game. DO NOT BE FOOLED! Do not think that "oh great!, they removed it now I can go buy the game!" Its a trap! I cant even comment or review the rest of the game because this has completely overshadowed the actual game. We as gamers cannot let this pass. This free to play mentality in a paid game has no business in here period. Expand

To get these StarCards you need to gamble real life money or spend many hours to have enough in-game currency to buy loot boxes. So every unit has 3 slots for Starcards, you have one opened slot by default, the rest can be opened by getting StarCards, and how do you get Starcards, though LOOTBOXES/GAMBLING. So multiplayer is unbalanced and broken, you get lower level players get paired with higher level player, instead of have a leveled playing field with players with you skill level. although EA have taken micro transactions TEMPORARILY, its is still a broken game. BUT the micro transactions with be back.
The single player is fine if you like doing the same this over and over again. You have a cutscene, then you fight stormtrooper or rebels, then another cutscene, get in a vehicle or a starship. There are so levels that you play a hero like Luke Skywalker or Han Solo. The single player is worst than the 2005 Star Wars Battlefront. EA is absolutely Trash, they prey on players with gambling problem and young children, they ruin and otherwise good game, but because of the greed and disrespect towards their consumers. this a full priced game 60$ or 80$ not a free to play mobilelike game. EA is TRASH.

I will try and keep this brief, Starbores gamblefront is the latest reskin for the now 15 year old Battlefield formula; over the years the game engine has progressed to be an amazing lensflare simulator where they tack the trusted battlefield gameplay loop onto it with various degrees of success. Which I admit is both reductive and cynical, but also I think is fair and accurate.

That being said, the strength of the idea proves that the core mechanics does make for really fun game in spite of EA and Dice’s best efforts.
Yes, this is one of those hating on EA reviews and I am not going to dress it up as otherwise because while this game really SHOULD be a must buy and it’s clear EA and Dice have spent a lot of money and technological prowess on this game the sheer naked avarice and totally anti customer practices by dragging in the worse pay to win and mobile gaming’s physiological tricks to try and induce children to develop a gambling habit and milk those most vulnerable players into those much sought after transaction whales by making the game so mindboggling frustrating to play unless you carry on with the fee to play investments like making it so you would have to spend a working week grinding to get to play Darth Vader.
Yep that’s right, unless you carry on spending in already full price game, the key characters to even the battle out will be locked behind nigh impossible grind and you will lose to those who will just drop money to unlock them.
TL;DR Avoid this game at all costs.

Once you are in the game you are not ugly, stupid or poor, or pretty, smart and rich. We are all adventurers. We are all EQUAL. We are all what we want to be, commit our time and effort to excel in what we believe in. We had to earn everything with our bare mouse and keyboard and gamepad.

Microtransactions (loot boxes included) is killing the heart and soul of gaming.
Microtransactions "IS", because we all need to unite to kill this final BOSS.
And from the carcasses of EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Take-2 we will loot the most incredible of legendary loot (real loot), our due legacy!
Meaningful and rewarding progression systems, incredible unlockables also cosmetics for in games feats and challenges, compelling stories and rich, living worlds, innovative mechanics and balanced, addictive multiplayer.

We will equip our wallets, wield our credit cards and unleash the flurry of online payments and we will shape the destiny of Gaming Kingdom, but first the False Emperor "EA", Fallacious Prophet "Take-Two Interactive", heretic priest "Ubisoft" and their court necromancer "Activision" must all pay the ultimate price for the well-being of our great civilization. Their fall will mark the dawn of golden era of gaming.

The suit-clad CEO barbarians, who enslaved millions of their normie bretherens and now advance leading ruthless horde into our lands. They have no place in our society. They took our worlds, they defiled girlfriends we don't have, their put our basement forts to the torch.
Wanna play your favourite hero/villain? Pay up! and then: Gamble, Gamble, Gamble.
Wanna unlock and upgrade new skills? Pay up! and then: Gamble, Gamble, Gamble.
Wanna feel inferior to people who don't know any better than give up their hard earned money for things artificially put behind a fake paywall, wanna get obliterated by their *wink* "legendary " *wink* skills? Pay up only 59.99$
Don’t worry we made your beloved game a piece of grindy mobile dumpster.

And Publishers say it is for your own freedom of choice. Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I was looking forward to this game as the first game isn't too bad, despite the lack of content on launch. Looking at Jim Sterling's video showing how buggy the game is. Shame they didn't spend more time on well you know, MAKING THE GAME instead of game breaking loot boxes. Where is this going to end?

This game is a punch in the face from EA to all Star Wars fans. Buggy and pay2win. EA placed several mechanisms to assure you won’t get credits enough, they are forcing us buy loot boxes to progress or be ganked by rich people over and over again.

EA wants to do it again with this game. Putting micro transactions But the biggest aberration is when you have to spend 40 hours playing to unlock a single character. This is designed so that the player is frustrated and has to pay with real money to achieve the achievements and objects of the same game. In addition, it shows that EA seeks to generate a new market around micro payments, and not in the sale of video games.

On Reddit users complained. EA answered doing good to defend his position. Then, he received the figure of half a million negative votes. That's why they said they were going to reduce the cost to unlock everything in the game. This shows that you can change the industry instead of accepting the course you take just because.

Battlefront II is fan service and little else; much respect to the craft, the attention to detail and the wealth of content, but sadly it just isn't enough. It's starting to feel as if Star Wars simply isn't a franchise suitable for this type of sprawling, large-scale multiplayer experience. It doesn't have it in its bones, and if DICE can't find a way to make it work, we're fearful nobody can. [Issue#195, p.72]

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will go down as one of the biggest screw ups in video game history. EA and DICE had the easiest job in the world and completely ruined it with the absolutely ridiculous and downright unacceptable progression system for multiplayer. Combine that with the incredibly boring, lazy, and cliche story campaign and you easily have the biggest disappointment of 2017.
