Loved Battlefront 1, this game loot boxes have ruined it regardless if you can buy them or not... The fact progression is random is just awful...

If they remove the loot boxes i will change my score.

    A failed game ..
The story is short and not beautiful.

You can't play with all the characters, you have to buy the characters to open them.

Most things in the game require cash ..

"A failed game with a miserable story and a great support to buy within the game" ..

EA released this game a few days early for people that wanted to pay extra money. So, by the time it was released for us plebes, half the player base had already leveled up and unlocked so much that it's a completely unbalanced s*** show.

Despite removing the option to pay for them lootcrates and progression are still completely f****d. You have to grind and grind to get anything. And grinding is even more of a chore because of the problem I outlined in the previous paragraph: everyone who got the game early is already ahead of the curve. So they do better in the multiplayer and get more payout. Thus they get to unlock more and have more abilities than you. And the cycle continues.

The items you unlock in lootcrates are permanent unlocks so why do they have duplicates? In my second and third lootcrate opens I received a duplicate in each. These duplicates convert to 200 credits. I paid 4,000 in-game credits for each of those boxes. I received four or five unlocks in each of those crates. So 20 to 25% of my unlocks paid me pack with 5% of what I paid for it. Way to go DICE. Thanks. This wasn't grindy enough already. Jesus Christ.

The story is not Star Wars. It's more like the Disney ride Star Tours. You hop from one familiar location or person to the next just so you can say hi to your favorite character or location at some point. I would have rather had a compelling story with new characters/Inferno Squad.

    In short:
F*** you EA for this grindy s***fest that was designed around a pay-to-win model.
F*** you DICE for designing the grindy s***fest
F*** you Disney for letting DICE and EA tell a completely uncompelling story in your IP

This game is an educational tool in gambling and the mentality of the passive abused persona.
EVERY parent should avoid getting this game for their kids/teenagers.
Though the game might have most of the Star Wars hard candy goodies, the game can only be as much fun as you able to stomach the gross imbalance, bugs, and the in-your-face abuse of consumers via PAY TO WIN lootcrates etc.

As an adult, you might enjoy it for a little while, as a parent you will be making a terrible mistake giving this to your kids.

Be very very careful, its not what it seems at first glance
P.S. They said they removed the lootboxes etc for a LITTLE WHILE. they are toying with everyone

Again, the original battlefront 2 had more content. The 4 hour campaign is so filled with cameos, its almost as if DICE knew the story was underwhelming. The gameplay in these missions is as basic as can be; kill baddies to get to here, defend here by killing baddies, killing baddies in the sky. Nor is the gameplay polished or fun enough for me to accept the minimalistic level design. ItAgain, the original battlefront 2 had more content. The multiplayer is the same as the first one, but with a little more content. Still no where near enough (I refer back to the first sentence). The worst part of the game is of course the progression system. Its laughable how far wrong it is. Game looks and sounds pretty though. Expand

This game has pay to win written all over it the only way you progress is through loot crates. How you earn credits in this game is such a load of crap for about 30 to 45 min of game play you get about 300 to 385 credits. one crappy loot crate costs 4,000 credits. The campaign sucks beyond belief and they need to bring back Galactic Conquest.

Firstly loot boxes take forever to get at around 2 hours per loot box. But they also give **** random loot, at which I keep on getting Starfighter and officer cards when all I play in my casual gameplay is assault.

Thus the extremely slow and uneven progression + the fact that BF2 do not have any Asian servers (so my lag will always be high) and combined twitch players with lower ping makes this a game of constant frustration.

As a casual the need to massive grind to get cards specifically of which I want in my limited time is really **** and stupid. Do yourself a favor and DONT BUY this game if you are a casual player

I love Star Wars. I wanted a worthy successor to the Battlefront Franchise. They failed miserably. Twice.

I only pre-ordered this game because I had friends who were dropping in day 1. Never again. I will never buy an EA game day 1 again. My loyalty to star wars is stronger than this, but my trust of EA as a company is forever shattered.

Now that a universally beloved franchise like Star Wars is being used as the vehicle for the butt raping, people are taking notice and EA is finally taking notice. It is time to put an end to this pay to win gambling crap that EA does.
Either pull their licences for Star Wars, football, FIFA and hockey or let other developers use them to make competing games. the 2K hockey games were a lot of fun.

I so very wanted to play BF2. I missed out on the first game because I ran out of time to devote to it and my excitement for BF2 was huge. Before buying it I saw the negative press around the BETA period and thought some of it would be fixed upon arrival.

Sadly this is not the case. The single player campaign starts off strongly and it feels like you are about the embark on a unique story, but not long into it the story begins to feel like a who's who of star wars big hitters are just rolled out and put into the story for the sake of it. The campaign levels look massive however are rather small when you factor in the leash EA puts on your character each time you stray slightly from the designated path.

The multiplayer is fast and enjoyable with some massive maps full of excellent detail and ways to play, however the progression is frankly broken. The whole star card and loot box system of progression is completely flawed, when you do have enough credits to purchase a loot box you are not guaranteed anything that will actually suit your character or play style and often times I found myself receiving emotes for heroes and characters I did not even own. That and the fact that before they microtransactions were turned off you could purchase these things, frankly leaves me to believe this was a hugely unbalanced game when people with lots of money can buy said crates to make their character a lot stronger than others.

Graphically it is a sight to behold on Xbox One X and I did not encounter any bugs.

However none of that is enough, and the fact that progression seems so completely broken I cannot in good conscious recommend this game to anyone right now. I have returned my copy for a full refund and hopefully will come back when / if the multiplayer issues are rectified.

They changed KOTOR ,sold us SWTOR Then continued to maul ME, that upcoming single player game every Star Wars fan was dreaming about, and now BF. EA's business model, strip down the game, maximize profit, to the point of destroying it. If Disney wants to keep Star Wars a top draw, they need to give this to a company, who actually knows how to make a great game without alienating your customers. EA doesn't make games, they make skins for addicted gamblers to claim they are playing a game. That's why their games are so stripped down and the exact same every year. I am boycotting this game on purpose. It's not even worth a proper review due to the greedy policies EA imposes on their consumers. It's ridiculous and i can't help but laugh at all the paid/hired reviews. I don't trust EA and neither should you, for the sake of your wallet. EA is ruining Star Wars. Not getting a dime from me. Move along, this is not the game you are looking for.

Campaign is still woefully inadequate. Don't buy this if you're expecting some kind of coherent Star Wars narrative...what you get is 4 or 5 hours worth of awfulness....with a promise that more is to come...but where was it in the full price game. You know the GAME that people have already paid for.

And don't forget, the glorified gambling is coming back eventually...but hopefully that'll be a moot point and this diabolical poop-pile of a game will have died by then. Don't buy it or any other of their cynical loot box micro-transaction cancers they pass off as games these days.

0/10 is generous. I'd give negative numbers if it was possible. -10/10

More loot boxes? Funny thing is without EA share prices dropping and without getting a call from the Disney CEO those loot boxes wouldn't have been temporarily been disabled. How dare they tarnish the Star Wars IP in such a way.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story in the campaign feels like it was written from a mess of focus test results rather than an actual writer that has a story to tell. The villains are nonsensical and have no motivation. The new heroes are bland and uninspired. An amateur would be ashamed of this work.

Combat is so deeply flawed with an progression system that is about out matching your opponents with Star Cards. Since each Star Card has 4 tiers to them, and all characters can have up to 3 Star Cards equipped(or none if you chose so), there are 12 levels of statistical upgrades in a player versus player game. That's 12 levels of objectivity being more powerful than opponents.

Please DICE, hear me! Why do you make such a good platform for it to be thrown all away from horrible updates and lack of content.

This review is focused on the multi-player aspects within the game. As far as single-player, that was trash from the beginning. EA should have an entirely separate game for single-player instead of overwhelming themselves with to much content to be made in such a short time.

In other EA games like Battlefield, you have a progression system. In Battlefront II, you buy upgrades that instantly make you good at the game. Has improved, but is still mediocre at best. I don't like how matches feel; the smaller matches like Blast are cool but bare-bones, and the bigger ones like conquest are my least favorite; you run for five minutes to where the battle is and immediately die to a ship or sniper or hero across the map, repeating for 20 mins. The campaign is good though.

Battlefront II is fan service and little else; much respect to the craft, the attention to detail and the wealth of content, but sadly it just isn't enough. It's starting to feel as if Star Wars simply isn't a franchise suitable for this type of sprawling, large-scale multiplayer experience. It doesn't have it in its bones, and if DICE can't find a way to make it work, we're fearful nobody can. [Issue#195, p.72]

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will go down as one of the biggest screw ups in video game history. EA and DICE had the easiest job in the world and completely ruined it with the absolutely ridiculous and downright unacceptable progression system for multiplayer. Combine that with the incredibly boring, lazy, and cliche story campaign and you easily have the biggest disappointment of 2017.
