    This game is a monumental disappointment. The loot box progression system is possibly one of the most uneven and useless progression systems i've ever seen in a game, and the whole thing is built on making players objectively better than others. And the single player is a absolute mess, with a lame story that is nothing like the advertising would suggest, and missions that devolve in toThis game is a monumental disappointment.     Let's get this out of the way. I bought this game before I knew about the controversy surrounding it. The game is damn good. I beat the campaign and have sunk over 40 hours into multiplayer. It's good. It's not as imbalanced as people think, but the blatant greed from EA forces me to rate this lower than I want to, and would not have bought it if I had known what they were up to.

    Battlefront 2 is the most frustrating experience I've had with a game to date. It's stunning visuals and excellent game modes are completely scuttled by their self inflicted wounds of a poor progression system and coerced micro transactions. The fact that the campaign mode on,y takes 4-5 hours to complete definitely didn't help either. Ultimately, SWBF2 feels like it could be an excellentBattlefront 2 is the most frustrating experience I've had with a game to date.     I do gotta say, the campaign was decent but could of had a way better story line and alot longer. Mutli-player is TRASH!!!!! i get it, grind but, why grind for hours on hours on hours on hours on hours!?!?!?!? Im good. Especially when im already paying $60 for the damn game!!!!!

    This game is just another giant disappointment for the Star Wars franchise. It'll will never be like the original Battlefront 2. you can play co-op with a friend but only with split-screen. Yes I said that right, only with split screen. You cannot do online co-op. Next, it takes FOREVER to get good cards for the characters. Not only that, you have to level up each character to a level in order to add an extra card slot to that character. On top of that you have to collect enough scrap in order to upgrade your cards so that you can level them up. So while all that is going on, you are being killed 1,000,000,000,000,000 more times then the player with the already suped up gear, who probably also has been playing this game longer than you or utilizes their superior money skills to get stronger and better gear than you. So yeah, multiplayer sucks. I can say however that visually it is great, it sounds exactly like a Star Wars game should and although it takes forever to level them up and get all the 'good gear' the amount of classes and characters there are is satisfactory. They did a decent job with the story, I wish it was a little longer and not so repetitive towards the end, but overall I was satisfied with it. Overall, it is an enjoyable game for a short period of time, but I wish I didn't buy the game digitally because I'm almost at the point of never playing it again so it's just going to be collecting a lot of that digital dust. Save your money for whatever other game you were thinking about purchasing.… Expand

    Has improved, but is still mediocre at best. I don't like how matches feel; the smaller matches like Blast are cool but bare-bones, and the bigger ones like conquest are my least favorite; you run for five minutes to where the battle is and immediately die to a ship or sniper or hero across the map, repeating for 20 mins. The campaign is good though.

    I created account to write this short review. In general I spend so far 65h in game. The campaign is a multiplayer tutorial with narration. Arcade mode is fine however EA limited credits which we can get during the day.     Great potential completely ruined by greedy business practices and sloppy quality control. The game would have been an easy sell but EA had to force a system into it which chokes the balance and fun right out of everything.     I will set aside the money I would have spent on this game and reserve it to be spent on products by deserving independent developers, instead. The only way I *might* see myself supporting this product would be if EA acknowledges their faults, reworks these systems and guarantees never to implement non-cosmetic micro-transactions into the game in perpetuity. The game is not balanced if you have access to a hero, regardless of game skill you'll be in for a huge advantage over those who do not have access to level 4 cards also.

    I so very wanted to play BF2. I missed out on the first game because I ran out of time to devote to it and my excitement for BF2 was huge. Before buying it I saw the negative press around the BETA period and thought some of it would be fixed upon arrival.

    Sadly this is not the case. The single player campaign starts off strongly and it feels like you are about the embark on a unique    I so very wanted to play BF2.     Sadly this is not the case. The single player campaign starts off strongly and it feels like you are about the embark on a unique story, but not long into it the story begins to feel like a who's who of star wars big hitters are just rolled out and put into the story for the sake of it. The campaign levels look massive however are rather small when you factor in the leash EA puts on your character each time you stray slightly from the designated path.

    The multiplayer is fast and enjoyable with some massive maps full of excellent detail and ways to play, however the progression is frankly broken. The whole star card and loot box system of progression is completely flawed, when you do have enough credits to purchase a loot box you are not guaranteed anything that will actually suit your character or play style and often times I found myself receiving emotes for heroes and characters I did not even own. That and the fact that before they microtransactions were turned off you could purchase these things, frankly leaves me to believe this was a hugely unbalanced game when people with lots of money can buy said crates to make their character a lot stronger than others.

    Graphically it is a sight to behold on Xbox One X and I did not encounter any bugs.

    However none of that is enough, and the fact that progression seems so completely broken I cannot in good conscious recommend this game to anyone right now. I have returned my copy for a full refund and hopefully will come back when / if the multiplayer issues are rectified.    … Expand

    They somehow **** up elements from the first game and never bother to fix them. Hero design is improved in some respects but DRASTICALLY ruins some of the best elements from the previous game. Battlefront 2 ea 2017 is both buggier and laggier than the first game as if they wanted to throw even LESS money into this one hoping it would keep their sinking ship afloat. It's almost as if the EA STAR WARS business plan is "use the SW name and spend lots on marketing to implement our core principles here at EA: 'Low cost, High reward' "
    The corporate shlong in this game is very apparent from the tacked on campaign to the horrible communication and BLATANT LIES we were told. I bought the game when it came out and was so excited because it looked very fun in previews and WAS very fun in the beta. It had some glaring issues but I thought they would be overshadowed by the cool maps and fun ships and star wars feeling and the promised CONSTANT UPDATES! What we received is a boring, BUGGY AND LAGGY, repetitive, and unimaginative scam.
    The first EATM StarTM WarsTM BattlefrontTM was at least something I liked to play for stupid fun with some pretty well designed maps and settings that really enhanced the sometimes bland gameplay. You could feel there was a passion there. The originals (2004-05) were and were shaping up (Battlefront 3 and 4) to be one of the most innovative game franchises in the industry. When I saw the cool settings for Battlefront 2 2017, I thought they looked like what I would do with a Star Wars game that had a committee producing it. What I played was pretty entertaining at first but the more I played, the more the absolutely horrible level design, overwhelmingly uninspired aesthetic, and repetitive nature of the gameplay left me so apathetic towards it.
    It's not a horrible game for the most part. Fighting in ships is great. That's about it. Nothing else elevates this experience past it's predecessors and will leave you dissatisfied in almost every manner. The graphics are nice and Darth Maul is fun, 2/10    … Expand

    If you play a ship on keyboard and mouse, it's an absolute nightmare. One thing that you can do is keyboard and mouse on floor, controller in a starship

    Worse than Battlefront 1, you paid about 80 EUR to just get some basic content. It is horrible to see what can they do to try to get (steal) more money. Pay to win. Not recommended.

    Play Battlefront 2, and do your household chore! Matchmaking and load times take so long, that you can easily do your laundry besides waiting for a match to start. And even during the match you dont respawn, you have to wait for a counter or for a group to form. So you will be waaaaiting a lot in this game just for getting shot in the back. Then you get bugs, lags and connection issuesPlay Battlefront 2, and do your household chore! You took cheap money from all the STAR WARS Fans that were stupid enough to buy even BF2. Thanks EA (and Disney) for ruining a saga... one point for graphics.… Expand

The ps4 and pc version still have less than a 1.0 user rating. SHYEESH! This game blows lol.

    The first micro transaction game I ever got was a free download game about the Spartacus tv show. It sucked... Then my first real full price micro transaction game that I got into was Destiny1. I can't believe I was stupid enough to give that game a chance... That's what I get for having blind faith in bungie. It sucked and I never bothered going back and didn't buy the micro transactions once. After being stupid enough to give that trash a chance I vowed to always be against micro transactions as much as I could... I learned my lesson... Never fall for corporate cash in bull**** from jerks like EA, activision, ubisoft etc etc... A lot of these groups were not so bad once upon a time several years ago... But man oh man have they gotten worse. MUCH WORSE! ESPECIALLY EA and Activision lol.

    I'm even more hardcore than most. I trash micro transaction that are even just cosmetic stuff only. I know that sounds a bit too hardcore... And I know that cosmetic micro transactions are no where near as bad as pay to win/one time use micro transactions that are tied to everything in the game basically... But they are still weak as **** micro transactions at the end of the day...

    Hear me out... Remember old fighting games where you could unlock costumes for the fighters by beating the game on a certain difficulty with that said character or maybe completing some sort of challenge? That was great! Gave you some incentive to play the game and get better at it. With cosmetic micro transactions now you just buy the crap... How lame is that? Pretty lame if you ask me... If you happen to really like the game and want to 100% the **** out of it then you wont be able to unless you buy all the cosmetics. Talk about over charging...

    Also... The devs only have so much time to make the game as good as possible. A game is only as good as how much work goes into it right? That's the truth for the most part anyways... So when a dev wastes precious time making a micro transaction system... That's them wasting time that they could have spent on actually making the game better and having more content actually in the game on launch day.

    Finally... Lets get real. Even if the micro transactions are cosmetic only... That's just a gateway drug if you will to the next games having even more invasive micro transactions than before. You think overwatch 2 is going to have micro transactions that are just as bad or not as bad as overwatch 1? No... OF COURSE THEY ARE GOING TO BE WORSE! You give them a inch and they will take a mile. Or in this case... You spend a little money and they will try to get you to empty your wallet. They just love to pressure folks into spending more and more money instead of actually making a real game don't they? They want to turn us players into payers that's all... Typical corporate greed getting more and more out of hand as the days go by. That's the gaming world of today for ya folks... Don't like it? Don't buy these crappy games...

    On note surtout du fan service de bas étage avec nombre de figures jouables du folklore des Star Vases, insérées ici et là dans une campagne qui a pour personnage principal une soldate d’élite de l’Empire malfaisant, une soldate à sale gueule aussi sexy qu’une gardienne de prison parce que les nanas dans les jeux vidéo depuis quelques années, c’est plus ça qu’est ça (comme l’exige la doctrine SJW me too etc).

    Bien entendu et à l’instar des films de chez Disniais, elle va trahir l’Empire et passer du côté des gentils rebelles (pauvres réfugiés blablabla, c’est trop horrible cet Empire du mal trop méchant, espèce de Trump, va !). Oh putain, le spoil que j’ai fait, meeeerde…

    On peut jouer en première ou troisième personne avec des « capacités spéciales » directement héritées du multi à kévins : c’est de fait bien naze ou au mieux anecdotique… ce n’est qu’un gros couloir scripté de toute façon, rapidement chiant comme la pluie qui ferait passer les vieux Halo périmenazes à pious-pious pour des modèles d’action et d’ultra-violence…

    Ils ont même mis des possibilités d’infiltration optionnelle mais qui ne fonctionnent pas du tout. De toute manière, qu’est-ce qu’on se fait chier là-dedans ! et ce malgré des séquences de combat spatial au demeurant mal configurées (le stick droit pour déplacer le vaisseau ? hein, que, quoi ?!).

    Il y a néanmoins un bon point dans tout ce dépotoir à micro-transactions : c’est vraiment très beau et ça tourne plutôt à 60 im/s. Enfin, presque. Mais c’est très beau, cet économiseur d’écran, c’est clair !    … Expand

    Imagine my dismay, then, when I see a videogame company adopting the very same tactics. Let'sbe clear: for a large majority of the population, EA's lootbox gambling will be an annoyance. A game-breaking annoyance that lets the rich pay to win and the poor sod off, sure, but an annoyance nonetheless. For a small portion of the population with an addictive personality and a predisposition towards problem gambling, however, EA's lootbox gambling (which is as yet unregulated and free to target them with every shady tactic in the book) will be a very harmful and predatory incursion.

This is despite the various tweaks EA has made to system since the game is released. Moreover 10,000 credits to unlock Vader or Skywalker is a complete rip off.     Nothing more than a Battlefield with blasters and a LOT of Pay to basics, classic of EA Games, always doing unfunny games that try to force you to pay more and more for basic things, EA is a sh** since Battlefield 4, maybe the exception is Fallen Order, but the same is repetitive.

    I played it with the Xbox game pass Ultimate. My surprise the campaign has a terrible story and is politically correct enforced (Progre) Thank you Disney and EA for ruining this saga created by Lucasfilms.

    Yes, this is one of those hating on EA reviews and I am not going to dress it up as otherwise because while this game really SHOULD be a must buy and it’s clear EA and Dice have spent a lot of money and technological prowess on this game the sheer naked avarice and totally anti customer practices by dragging in the worse pay to win and mobile gaming’s physiological tricks to try and induce children to develop a gambling habit and milk those most vulnerable players into those much sought after transaction whales by making the game so mindboggling frustrating to play unless you carry on with the fee to play investments like making it so you would have to spend a working week grinding to get to play Darth Vader.
    Yep that’s right, unless you carry on spending in already full price game, the key characters to even the battle out will be locked behind nigh impossible grind and you will lose to those who will just drop money to unlock them.

    Despite removing the option to pay for them lootcrates and progression are still completely f****d. You have to grind and grind to get anything. And grinding is even more of a chore because of the problem I outlined in the previous paragraph: everyone who got the game early is already ahead of the curve. So they do better in the multiplayer and get more payout. Thus they get to unlock more and have more abilities than you. And the cycle continues.

    The items you unlock in lootcrates are permanent unlocks so why do they have duplicates? In my second and third lootcrate opens I received a duplicate in each. These duplicates convert to 200 credits. I paid 4,000 in-game credits for each of those boxes. I received four or five unlocks in each of those crates. So 20 to 25% of my unlocks paid me pack with 5% of what I paid for it. Way to go DICE. Thanks. This wasn't grindy enough already. Jesus Christ.

    The story is not Star Wars. It's more like the Disney ride Star Tours. You hop from one familiar location or person to the next just so you can say hi to your favorite character or location at some point. I would have rather had a compelling story with new characters/Inferno Squad.

    In short:
    F*** you EA for this grindy s***fest that was designed around a pay-to-win model.
    F*** you DICE for designing the grindy s***fest
    F*** you Disney for letting DICE and EA tell a completely uncompelling story in your IP    … Expand

And then there's the glitches, and unfinished story (which isn't that great), and everything dealing with progression in the multiplayer is all wrong. There's no sense of accomplishment. Then it was confirmed even single player was blocked because of EA's loot box greed. Then I found out the campaign was only 4 hours. Worse than that the Elite "cannon" solider actually turned to the republic very early in the story. Im sure the loot boxes give you items for least played characters. ive played yoda 2 times and i keep getting cards for him and his ****ty ship

    One of the most disappointing games I’ve ever played. The main problem I have with Star Wars Battlefront 2 isn’t even the loot boxes, its the fact that the game wasn’t even finished. The game was full of bugs and balances issues, it took them nearly a month to even talk about adding map voting, something that wasn’t even added to the original game so it should have been in from the startOne of the most disappointing games I’ve ever played. The main problem I have with Star Wars Battlefront 2 isn’t even the loot boxes, its the fact that the game wasn’t even finished. The game was full of bugs and balances issues, it took them nearly a month to even talk about adding map voting, something that wasn’t even added to the original game so it should have been in from the start here, the campaign starts out fun and really interesting, but that quickly changes and you get a standard shooter campaign, and eventually feels like it was rushed losing most of what made it interesting as you go on, becoming more like a tutorial for the multiplayer than an actual single-player experience. It took a week or two for them to make the servers not an absolute mess, and they still have some problems once in a while. The lootboxes are still a problem even with them currently removed because earning the credits to buy them/unlock the items you want is still a tedious grind that harms the gameplay experience that could have otherwise been pretty good. I also love occasionally running into the people who probably had early access and paid for the lootboxes while they still could because they have fully upgraded kits as both heroes and troop units. There is no reason that the progression system should have been tied to lootboxes, it makes getting what you want a complete gamble, and was obviously done solely because EA couldn’t just stick with the millions they would have earned if Battlefront 2 would have been good, but instead wanted to ride those whales willing to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars into that billion dollar range.

    Honestly I don’t understand why the game was even released like this, oh wait, yeah I do, because it was more important to shove the game out the door before The Last Jedi to ride the hype train. I remember when the original Battlefront 2 came out back in 2005, guess what, the servers worked and the game was pretty damn balanced, because they cared about quality back when then because they couldn’t just patch out all the problems and throw a broken mess on to the market and how people don’t get pissed off before they fix it.

    Disney, if you have any respect for the Star Wars franchise, please, either force your way into making sure the development of these games by EA and make sure they aren’t making a mockery of your cash cow, or if you knew about what they were doing with the lootbox progression system (like a lot of people including myself believe) then shame on you for letting this gambling simulator be sold to children. If the paid currency is really put back in I hope you lose all the money earned from them in government fines.    … Expand

It's not casual enough to be arcade like, and not hardcore enough to be a Battlefield with a Star Wars skin. Also, the economy debacle is worse than anything I have ever seen in a game.

    Even if you ignore the controversy this game still lacks in many areas. The story which promised to show "the Empires side" quickly sees you switching to the Rebel side and fighting for them. As in all the marketing lied to you.     And then the campaign missions are clearly a tack on to just add just so that they can say that they have one. The difficulty is all over the place with some areas being super easy and then others killing you instantly if you are standing in the wrong spot without warning.

    TLDR: Even if you just want to rent the game to play the campaign you will be very disappointed. It is a cliche story where the characters cannot decide which side they are on or even what their character motivations are. One moment they want to kill all the rebels, the next they shoot up former colleges without a second thought.    … Expand

    I got stuck in the first two minutes of playing where I couldn't move and had to wait until someone killed me so I could respawn. Aside from bugs, the game just isn't fun. I can't even make it through a full game session. It's just bad. Glad I rented before wasting $60. Nice try EA, but I've been ripped off from you before and knew better this time.

    This not a $60 game. This is a $2100 game. You'll have to spend this much cash just to unlock the content of the base game. This does not include and future content in the $eason pa$$. This is a joke and a stickup. EA is literally trying to mug gamers by microtransaction assault.

    This game has pay to win written all over it the only way you progress is through loot crates. How you earn credits in this game is such a load of crap for about 30 to 45 min of game play you get about 300 to 385 credits. one crappy loot crate costs 4,000 credits. The campaign sucks beyond belief and they need to bring back Galactic Conquest.

Plenty of others have already addressed the rampant issues with the game, so I'll save my breath. What I will say is this: the *real* Battlefront II is available on GOG and Steam for $9.99. If you have a functioning computer, you'll probably be able to play it with no issues. If not, IAbsolutely atrocious. I won't be buying another EA title ever again. I recommend others do the same. Plenty of others have already addressed the rampant issues with the game, so I'll save my breath. What I will say is this: the *real* Battlefront II is available on GOG and Steam for $9.99. If you have a functioning computer, you'll probably be able to play it with no issues. If not, I recommend dusting off your PS2 or Xbox and giving it a go.     I am boycotting this game on purpose. It's not even worth a proper review due to the greedy policies EA imposes on their consumers. It's ridiculous and i can't help but laugh at all the paid/hired reviews. I don't trust EA and neither should you, for the sake of your wallet. EA is ruining Star Wars. Not getting a dime from me. Shame they didn't spend more time on well you know, MAKING THE GAME instead of game breaking loot boxes. Where is this going to end?

    As a game, it is great. However, all of the effort put into making it is ruined by the blatant corporate greed that has turned it into a pay-to-win game. Instead of working towards a solution to the credit earning problem, EA attempted to justify this greedy ideology. I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment for contributing to the rating that this game deserves.

It's starting to feel as if Star Wars simply isn't a franchise suitable for this type of sprawling, large-scale multiplayer experience. It doesn't have it in its bones, and if DICE can't find a way to make it work, we're fearful nobody can. [Issue#195, p.72]

    Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will go down as one of the biggest screw ups in video game history. EA and DICE had the easiest job in the world and completely ruined it with the absolutely ridiculous and downright unacceptable progression system for multiplayer. Combine that with the incredibly boring, lazy, and cliche story campaign and you easily have the biggest disappointment of 2017.
