As a lifelong Sonic fan, I’m glad I was finally able to play Colours, and in the best possible fashion thanks to the nice audio/visual upgrade. The core gameplay is great, and the Wisps add far more than I thought they would to proceedings. Some of the classic issue with 3D Sonic games remain, but these are limited in what is otherwise a great time.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate may not be truly ultimate, but it’s a well worthwhile return to an oft-missed game.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a fantastic remaster of a much-loved title in the series. There are a few hiccups in the road with awful cutscenes and lacklustre unlocks. It's classic Sonic in a 3D setting and your enjoyment will stem from your love of the series. If you're looking for a reinvention of the formula, this probably isn't for you, but if you want to experience the iconic series with refined gameplay, beautiful visuals and tons of replayability, this is the best 3D Sonic game to grace Xbox since Sonic Generations.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a great remaster that lacks something new to engage those players of the original version.

Sonic Colors Ultimate is a game that everyone will enjoy, and it is without a doubt the best version of the game since its release. I believe that with this game you will have a full experience tailored to what you want to delve into. However, it's a shame that not all parts of the game have been treated with the same care in this remaster.

The world of video games is unforgiving. Some extraordinary games are released in total anonymity, only recognized by a small obscure fringe of gamers while other games know a strange craze even though they aren't that valuable. Sonic Colours Ultimate doesn't belong to either of these two categories: it's an average Sonic that only had the merit of reviving a license blunted by some frankly disappointing titles. Sonic Colours Ultimate brings back to light an average game, not really bad, but which didn't need to be blessed with the honors of a remake. But maybe this is just a wake-up call for other high-flying remakes of the franchise like the two Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast?

Its really sad to see how poorly the game has been treated by this port (I even preordered because I was excited to play this again on a newer console). While the writing has always been horrible yet laughable ("no copyright law in the universe is going to stop me", "hasta la bye bye"), the amount of glitches is insane. Bad on Sega for pushing the studio to finish early, but bad on the studio for using a new engine for the very first time and producing THIS. Fans can make better ports and make cut scenes look better than what was just put out! I have a lot of love for the sonic games, but this game actually caused me to rage quit. I can't even bring myself to finish it now, as of act 1 Terminal velocity, I died to literally nothing while having rings. Not worth it anymore to try. I know sonic '06 had its issues, but at least it was more playable than this. You could have reworked the Wii's mechanics into the switch's and it may have made it slightly more enjoyable, but I kinda doubt that now. Button controls for this game on the switch are janky. Customizable controls? Not fully. I wish some of the controls were not included with each other. (I.e. the boost with the drift). I really wish I could have free reign to switch them how I'd like.
The motion blur is way too intense to the point I cannot even see things properly. Falling off the moving floor when going over the ship. I can seriously go on and on about the amount of bugs and glitches. The seizure-inducing glitches are WAY too easy to replicate.
Honestly not seeing a single patch yet for all the bugs and game breaking glitches is just saddening. Sega truly has not learned their lesson, and continues to not listen to their fans. This is the worst port I have ever seen for switch. Cons:

    - Too many to list honestly, just know it out weighs any single pro

    Pros:
    - the customization options are kinda neat.
    - Icons that come with the game are only in game, kinda lame But can forgive that.

physical edition keychain is kinda cute tbh, so that allows it to be at a 1.
