Jan 19, 2016Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster is easily the most unique of the old-school RE games and one that should be experienced if you're a fan of the series.
-
Jan 21, 2016Another fine Capcom Resident Evil series HD Remaster that's worth the time and money to add to your collection.
-
Jan 27, 2016Resident Evil Zero HD is a great opportunity to learn or refresh this quite demanding episode in the series' history. Door opening animations and controls may be somewhat archaic, but such is the beauty of this franchise.
-
Jan 21, 2016Resident Evil Zero Remaster is exactly what the name implies. I had a blast returning to this entry, which is easily my least played in the series. It does enough different to help it stand on its own, even if some of those mechanics are archaic by today’s standards.
-
Jan 19, 2016The HD remastering of Resident Evil Zero may not have everything that the remake of the first game had, but it does feel like a more improved version of the original GameCube release.
-
Jan 19, 2016Familiar series hang-ups lead to signs of aging, but Resident Evil 0 HD’s core gameplay and horror element hold up remarkably well. Updated visuals and controls make the return trip to Raccoon City worthwhile.
-
Jan 18, 2016Resident Evil 0 is a worthy entry in the Resident Evil franchise even though it lacks the scares and originality. It's often overshadowed by the first game, but not giving it a spin would be a grave mistake.
-
Jan 18, 2016Capcom proves once again that it's quite good at this remastering lark. Resident Evil Zero HD is a brilliant update of another classic GameCube Resident Evil game for a modern audience that demands to be revisited once more or discovered for the first time. It's scary good.
-
Feb 14, 2016Capcom did a good job porting the game from Gamecube to Xbox One, but its gameplay mechanics didn't age too well in the post-RE4 era and it could have used some more work on that front.
-
Jan 22, 2016Technically Capcom delivers an inspired restoration (minus the lowres videos) of a modern survival horror classic, but the focus on coop-play comes at the expense of atmosphere.
-
Official Xbox Magazine UKMar 5, 2016Looks great, sounds utterly terrifying and proves the old formula can still scare. But partner-swapping remains tedious and unintuitive. Why do a remake if you just leave the greatest flaws unfixed? [March 2016, p.81]
-
Jan 20, 2016Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster represents a piece of gaming history, and it's nice to see it offered on modern hardware but playing it is only fun for those who already know what to expect and appreciate nostalgia.
-
Jan 20, 2016Resident Evil 0 isn't a bad game. But compared to the original remake, it certainly is a step down. I can understand Capcom trying new things and increasing the tension, but it becomes tedious more than anything. Either way, it's still a good game and still worth playing if you have never played it before or want to replay it again after so many years.
-
Jan 19, 2016It’s not quite in the same league as the first two Resident Evil titles and is a far cry from replicating the quality of Resident Evil 4 (what does?), but judged upon its own merits, this is a solid entry into the survival horror genre, albeit, one with better puzzles than scares.
-
Jan 19, 2016Removed from the moment in time when it debuted, Resident Evil 0 is just a really good classic RE game. It didn't set the standards for this style of game the way Resident Evil 1 did; it's not as ambitious or unblemished as Resident Evil 2. But it's far from the mess that history made it out to be.
-
Jan 19, 2016Even though it's similar in almost every aspect, the original Resident Evil HD Remaster outshines this title. Lesser attention to detail and laziness when building the new game mode is noticeable since first minutes. However, it delivers in every technical aspect as its predecessor.
-
Jan 19, 2016Overall, Zero HD is a pleasant surprise after the underwhelming Resident Evil HD Remastered last year.
-
Jan 18, 2016Resident Evil Zero HD sees the return of a weird chapter in the Resident Evil saga, one that feels clunky and frustrating in its low points, but which also shows some uniqueness from the legacy it helped bring to a close.
-
Jan 18, 2016Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster is still a fantastic update to an older game, but this one just isn't the classic that the original was. There's still some great survival horror gameplay, but the overall experience is not quite as thrilling or memorable. Still, for those starving for true survival horror this will certainly fit the bill.
-
Jan 18, 2016You may tire of the formula by the end of the game, but with Wesker at your fingertips, don't be surprised if you find yourself eager to sprint through zombies and decapitate them with energy blasts. It's just crazy enough to work.
-
Jan 18, 2016The last of the 'classic' Resident Evil games, Zero is now clunky and often infuriating. But the HD conversion looks and sounds superb, and once you get used to its quirks, it's still a class act.
-
Jan 18, 2016Even a remastered version of a more or less forgettable prequel from the franchise’s heyday is infinitely preferable to what Capcom gave us in Resident Evil 6. It’s got its fair share of issues and isn’t the nostalgic walk down memory lane that was Resident Evil HD Remaster, but at least it’s a bit more of what this Resident Evil fan really wants.
-
Jan 19, 2016Resident Evil Zero felt like a dated game in 2002, and an additional 14 years hasn’t exactly helped the game feel fresh. While the modern controls are a nice addition, they’re not nearly enough to make this a great game anymore.
-
Jan 19, 2016Reanimating this limp corpse of a survival game in high definition only brings back the disappointment I felt when I played it the first time.
-
May 25, 2016If you're willing to adjust to the game's age (which Capcom fails to hide) Resident Evil Zero is a decent horror purchase for the patient and methodical gamer. If you're a long-time fan of the series, you'll enjoy what Zero represents. Besides cashing in, I like to think that Capcom is gauging interest in the classic formula and in that respect, Resident Evil Zero is a history lesson worth bringing back from the grave.
-
Jan 19, 2016If you compare Resident Evil Zero to a game like Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, you realize how inadequate it is. Some might find this comparison unfair but it really isn’t.
-
Jan 18, 2016It’s Resident Evil 0. That’s about the size of it. If you dug the old GameCube version, then you’ll dig this. If you didn’t, Capcom’s fresh coat of paint won’t be enough to draw you in.
-
Mar 23, 2016The question of why Capcom even bothered with this HD remaster does beg to be raised, because while it might look like a modern release it certainly doesn’t play like one. It’s time that might have been better spent on something else.
-
Jan 18, 2016The weakest of the original less action-oriented run of games in the series, and the characters and locations aren’t all that interesting or unique. If you’re not a die-hard fan of the series willing to force yourself through the nightmare that is the horrid inventory system, I’d say avoid this one like a rotting corpse.
-
CD-ActionMar 30, 2016Resident Evil 0 was the weakest game in the series when it was originally released in 2002 and still is in 2016. [03/2016, p.43]
