Guns are useless. Chipsets are useless. Stealth is useless. Peeking is useless. Turrets are EXTREMELY useless. And every ability other than Mindjack is useless. Seriously who thought it was a good idea to be able to mind control every enemy in the game for a minute with no cooldown? And its what 2032 and turrets cannot bolt themselves in place? One sneeze and the damn thing falls over.Guns are useless. Chipsets are useless. Stealth is useless. Peeking is useless. Turrets are EXTREMELY useless. And its what 2032 and turrets cannot bolt themselves in place? One sneeze and the damn thing falls over. Theres no reason to kill any enemies since theres no Exp system AND they respawn as soon as you hit a load screen, so its best to just skip past everything because killing the same 5 boring AIs and wasting precious ammo on your nerf guns is pointless.

Overall this game is sometimes fun, but theres not much more content that wasnt already seen in the free demo. Prey has no interaction or ingenuity that other games like Bioshock and System Shock offer. Prey feels like its trying too hard to NOT be Prey (which is about an Indian killing alien invaders in unique environments that defy gravity and physics) and instead be a cheap ripoff of the other 2 mentioned games. Classic Bethesda bugs and low quality design is to be expected on par with Failout 4.

Not worth your money or time.

I loved the Dishonoured series. Absolutely loved it. So why do I hate Prey so much?

Maybe it's the lack of ammo... maybe it's the weak weapons... maybe it's that I just didn't enjoy playing it (and for someone who loves sci-fi games that's saying something). I didn't find it scary at all... just a chore with lame jump scares that didn't even make me jump. Weapon aiming was abysmal

Weapon aiming was abysmal and half the time you only know if you are hitting is if the enemy healthbar drops... and because I have partial colour blindness I couldn't even see that very well.

I thought the story would ramp up from the main game... but I got to the Deep Storage part and got repeatedly killed because I couldn't even retreat so I uninstalled the game. There is no story other than enemy organism on the station and one sibling wants to destroy it while the other does not... shock, horror, oh look a bunny.

I can't even understand other players eating this up.... Dishonoured was a MUCH better game.

Cut to the chase. Prey is a bad fu**ing game. its boring, frustrating and very confusing at the same time. There are two sides of Bethesda Softworks in my eyes. There's the side I love, which will keep me playing for months or even years such as doom and fallout, and than there the disappointing side of Bethesda that I will play for a few hours and be done such as with Elder ScrollsCut to the chase. This game is neither of these. It is worst. I expected this game to be full of fun and complex puzzles like breath of the wild, and some of those breathtaking and satisfying kill streaks from doom, but all it is, is another pile of garbage. The only good thing about this game are the weapon customisation, which deserve some credit. But it gets old pretty fast and its not as good as fallout customisation. That's what I also expected from this game, but no way. it is also feels like another one of these COD disappointments with too much futuristic designs and settings. LEAVE THAT TO HALO. AND LEAVE THIS GAME ALONE!! Expand

While this is well made I can't help but be reminded of how excellent it could have been if kept in the sames hands as the original creators. -They trademark common word "Prey" and threaten to sue indie developer who name their game "Prey for the gods". This practice must not be supported.

-What is this 'pre-order to get cheat item' ??? It's such a disrespect to consumer. The game sound designer is a drunkard from random pub. The music is horrible, especially the combat music that should belong to drug pub. Game is

Game is clunky, and not in a good way horror game is suppose to be. It's clunky because it's badly design, enemy move too fast to track due to low Field of Vision, a lot of upgrade are stupid +x% upgrade that almost has no impact, etc.

Lastly, people at Betheda need to get educated in English. This is not horror, just having player shooting alien is not equal horror. Having limited resource is not equal horror. Having stupid jump scare out of no where is not horror.

Arkane Studios has taken a cult classic series and revamped it to make it a very middle of the road FPS story driven affair. When Bethesda announced that they were basically redoing the Prey series, it was a disappointment for those who loved the original cult classic from the early 360 days. This game lacks all of the charm that game had and doesn't do anything unique. It's story is a fairly standard Sci-Fi adventure set in space and dealing with aliens. The combat is not as refined as Arkane's other main series Dishonored. I'd say it's a step below that one, even though there are various animations and moves that are pulled straight from Dishonored and given a new name. It's kinda lazy in my opinion. It feels like that the fact that this is more of a shooter, as opposed to the more stealth like gameplay from Dishonored just wasn't handled properly. And I can't tell you how many times I ran into invisible walls and saw mission icons just disappear when I'd switch to a new area. And the load times when switching from area to area are absolutely terrible for a new game like this.
The fact that this game replaced the sequel to the very well received original Prey is probably the worst part about this whole thing. And from reading up on what the sequel could have been, it's a shame that it will never see the light of day. I'd recommend to stay away from this one. There are plenty of other FP "immersion" shooters out there that are better then this one. This definitely won't be a popular opinion on here as many people seem to love this game, but this is a below average game from a company that is supposed to put out amazing titles. It just wasn't anything that kept my attention for very long as I've played so many games like this by now that doesn't do anything different.

I really had high hopes for this game. Truth is...it just plain sucks. it's glitchy- Try picking up a fuel canister to throw at an enemy in a panic..you'll see. Load times are the worst of anygame- up to 2.5 minutes per level change. Ride the elevator in the lobby 1 minute, open door to destination 2.5 minutes. Boring. I played about 1 hour of this game and I cannot forced myself to keep playing. The weapons suck and the enemies are boring. This game is as fun as watching paint dry.

This game can be appealing only to people who just started playing video games. Anyone who already played doom 3 or bioshock 1-2 will find Prey 2017 extremely boring.
The world itself is not well built: alright, I have 5 different ways to complete and objective?! Wow, I will only do one per run. Wow, I can play the game 5 different times. Will I ever do it? Of course no.

Gameplay feels super old: both under the point of view of controls and from the point of view of weapons (literally the same from other games).
Enemies are not funny to play with. They are not even a bright idea/concept.

    Gameplay: extremely lacking (1/10)
    Story telling: lacking (3/10)
World exploration (the core of these type of games): 1/10
Collectibles, things to read/find around: poor (3/10).

Overall: 2/10, a poor game, with old ideas we have already seen many times. A failure under every point of view.

Everything Prey needed to succeed is in there, somewhere, but it doesn't gel. The game is too undefined, too broad in its ambition and application of its powers, spaces and weapons, that it fails to find and carve out its own identity. [Issue#188, p.69]

The aliens don't quite cut it, but Prey offers one of gaming's best settings in years. [July 2017, p.73]

Prey is a game that makes you question what you're seeing with your own eyes. The shooter caters to almost every playstyle by allowing players to extensively customise their character, choose the best course of action and make their own moral judgements. There are surprises hidden in almost every corner and the most rewards are given to players who take the time to explore the large environment that is Talos-1, both through physical rewards and the extra lore that is tucked away through optional interactions. If you prefer games that allow you to run and gun through a linear story then this isn't for you, but if you like to experience a game at your own pace and in your own way, you can't go wrong with Prey.
