    Prey is a massive game with a story to match its huge scope. The creatures are fun and crazy and the characters are rich and interesting. Graphics are great (only time will tell if they hold up) and the controls are adequate.

    Arkane Studios is a miracle in gaming right now, and this is another gift they have blessed us. Buy this game if you loved Dishonored, Alien Isolation, Dead Space,    Prey is a massive game with a story to match its huge scope.     Absolutely loved the setting. Never has a game offered quite so much freedom to explore and discover, but also remain so immersive and personal. I couldn't stop myself exploring every detail. The plot starts and ends satisfyingly. Lots of content, including interesting side quests (which are required to make up for duller gaps in the main story), and worthwhile details to find. The menu/inventory system is one of the best. Crafting is both easy to grasp, and weirdly satisfying in itself.

    Sadly, although the planning adds a degree of complexity, combat is not particularly fun, and certainly not creative in its design enough for a science fiction game. I ended up just running past enemies towards the end, where the main story forces you to constantly go back and forth from various locations you have already thoroughly explored. The game's map was just designed in a way that cannot be utilised like this, as you have to deal with unforgivable loading screen after loading screen, with no fast travel. Hopefully it becomes a lesson learned for Arcane in the quest to provide less and less linear games. A few glitches and frame rate issues as well.

    I had my doubts when I heard that this Prey had nothing to do with the original, but I was very pleasantly surprised. This was a fun, open world game that let you explore and actually did as promised, it let you solve puzzles your own way. Most games say they will but then make only one option the actually feasible choice.     Also, a lot of people are saying that the ending is a bummer, but I think it's actually a pretty cool twist. You could see it coming from a mile away, but still very nicely executed.

    Controls were smooth, animations were fine enough, voice acting was good. The only real complaints I would mention are that the load times between areas are atrocious (which becomes a HUGE annoyance at the very end of the game), and the environments are kind of bland. But overall, I was pleased with the 60+ hours I put into it.    … Expand

    I loved every second of this game and highly recommend it. It has an interesting story, fantastic music, fun gameplay, good progression, great replay value, and it makes you feel smart.

    Una obra maestra. Supera a muchos juegos con mucha más fama. Es una joya. Lo mejor es la libertad para jugar de muy diferentes formas. Aún encima lo disfruté en Xbox Series X (con el FPS BOOST activado y va a 60 fps, gracias Microsoft). Felicidades al equipo de desarrollo.

    One of the best games every made it inspired by the 90 fps system shock half-life and with impressive graphics and game design like bioshock it’s a modern classic a with Innovative game play haven’t seen in years it’s a real must play

    Prey is great fun! It tries (and succeeds) to create a tense feeling where you are all alone, and does a tremendous job of executing it. It is a good open world that allows you and encourages you to explore, find the stories about other people that you feel compelled to finish, and creates an exciting world.

    The enemies are fairly standard except for the Mimics, which are incredible.    Prey is great fun!     I put a rather negative review for this game, which I now have to retract lol. This is a very clever game, and when you "get it", it will be very hard to put down..Great game all around, and fans of the original Deus Ex...NOT THE MONTREAL CRAP! lol..will feel familiar...Its a love it or hate it type game, but the story is great, is a smart game, and a nice change from most of the genericI put a rather negative review for this game, which I now have to retract lol.     I've recently gone back to this after it was enhanced with FPS Boost on the XSX. I am nearly finished and I have loved every second of this game, the enemies are innovative and fun, the RPG element is intuitive and interesting and at 60FPS its buttery smooth with brilliant graphics. I would highly recommend this game to anyone, especially if you have GamePass its a no brainer.

    The story's main plot has tons of layers that will keep you guessing as to where you're going to have to go and what you'll end up finding. Same goes for the game's many side quests. The characters are well written with interesting backstories, so they come across as actual humans that are interesting to interact with.

    Graphically, the game is absolutely beautiful and runs smoothly on vanilla Xbox One. It goes for a similar "retro-futuristic" art direction, akin to the BioShock games.

    The controls feel a little clunky and combat, overall, is okay. I found it hard to dodge incoming enemy attacks from Phantoms, almost always taking damage and Mimics were sometimes a pain to fight since they mostly scurrying quickly close to the ground. Eventually, I figured that combat wasn't the way to and just opted to run past enemies and onto the next area of the game (this tactic will save you tons of time towards the end).

    I have a love/hate relationship with the endings. I love the twist it presents the player at the very end, but the two main choices i had in my play through that lead up to it didn't seem to yield much either way and felt a little unsatisfying.

    Overall, I can still fully recommend Prey for it's beautiful graphics, great RPG elements and it's tense, creepy atmosphere.    … Expand

    Phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed this game from beginning to end. The story is rich and with a layer of mystery that had me intrigued from the get go. The ending was slightly disappointing and seemed a little low-effort but top marks from me for everything leading up to that final scene.

    Prey is one of those games that deserved WAY more recognition than it has, it is truly a masterpiece with fun exploration and the core of immersive sims alongside very fun combat and a reallly good story and narrative , if you can , you SHOULD play it

Остаётся загадкой как вообще удалось настолько продвинутым инопланетянам попасть в плен к советско-американским космонавтам. Как бы то ни было всё на Талос-1 вышло из под контроля, и наш протагонист попадает уже не в исследовательский центр, а практически в космический морг, захваченный тифонами. Наша задача... вот тут вот действительно многоточие, потому как каждый волен ставить в Prey задачу какую вздумается и идти к ее выполнению своим собственным путём. В этом, пожалуй, главный кайф игры, ты волен делать что тебе вздумается и как захочется. Любишь постелсить - пожалуйста, крадись, прячься, избегай и ты всё равно достигнешь своей цели. Любишь пожёстче - получите и распишитесь, валите всех и каждого тифона на своём пути с оглядкой конечно же на ресурсы, ибо тут с ними нужно поаккуратнее, но так тоже можно. Станция Талос-1 огромная, исследовать ее безумно интересно ибо любое новое пространство даёт пищу для размышлений о происходящих событиях, скажу я вам тут далеко всё неоднозначно в сюжетных хитросплетениях; каждый следующий шаг это найденный арсенал, инвентарь, возможности нашего персонажа и его развитие с помощью нейромодов, которые улучшают такие характеристика как сила, здоровье, инженерные навыки, так и наделяют свойствами тех самых тифонов и тут прямо глаза разбегаются что мы можем сделать с нашим Морганом Ю. Я всё же решил сделать больше крен в сторону человеческих возможностей, выведя абсолютно все показатели на максимум, от тифонов меня прельстили только трансформация в вещь, находящуюся поблизости, благодаря чему мне удавалось попадать через мелкие расщелины в неизведанные области, ну и телекинез оказался весьма полезным для подтаскивания мелочевки на расстоянии. На всё нейромодов не хватит, ибо ресурсы тут весьма ограничены и их ещё надо тратить на прокачку арсенала и получение необходимого расходного материала, то бишь патронов, аптечек и прочего важного инвентаря. Подход к луту в Prey очень необычный. Мы можем находить как конечный в использовании продукт, так и по сути своей полуфабрикаты, из которых мы синтезируем требуемый инвентарь в машинах по переработке промежуточного хлама в полезные минералы, а в других аппаратах по синтезу при наличии чертежей уже изготавливать всё необходимое.… Expand

    È uno di quelli che non riesci a capire fino a quanto si può spingere, che anche a più di metà gioco completato hai la sensazione di non aver scoperto ancora niente. La rigiocabilità è nell'anima del gioco, ma a differenza di altri con questa impostazione, Prey è sempre divertente da giocare, ti prende, ti incuriosisce e ti tiene incollato allo    Un gioco che dovrebbero provare tutti!

Prey also has an amazing, immersive story that will blow your mind in the first 30 minutes. Graphics and art direction are amazing - no clutter or noise, no random “sci-fi” junk. Visually, everything is very well-thought-out and served a purpose. If you like the aesthetic of 2001 or Oblivion (yes, the Tom Cruise movie) you’ll love the visuals here. Combat and movement mechanics are also amazing, especially with some cool innovations I won’t mention because discovering them is part of the fun. If I can think of anything critical at all, I wish there were a few more weapons. Not a big deal though. Prey is amazing and you’ll love it.… Expand

    Prey is a really great game. I’ll describe it as a blending of Bioshock and Deadspace. My first run took 49hrs so there’s lots to do and see and once complete you unlock extra difficulty options for repeat runs. I hope they make a sequel!

    Wow. It's been a while since a game has just GRABBED ME BY THE BALLS until I finished it. It plays like a thriller. There's always another mystery you want to uncover. So much environmental storytelling and little plot points are given to you through emails or voice memos. Masterful. This game is terribly underrated. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good story and a well-crafted world.

    Arkane recently released their 1.02 Patch for Prey and with that decisive patch I’ve deemed it appropriate to finally present my review of the game in earnest. Prior to the patch the PC build of the game was virtually unplayable which was integral to my review considering I typically play through games on at least two of the three or four platforms they’re typically offered on so as to make sure there aren’t incredible differences in performance between one or another.

    You’ve undoubtedly enthusiastically witnessed Prey’s opening several times by now and regardless of if you played the 2006 title of the same name and with a semi-similar setting, you’ll immediately notice that not everything is as it seems. Despite some of the similarities between both 2006 and 2017’s Prey iterations they are indeed two completely separate and intriguing games with intricate plots and fine-tuned combat mechanics. Prey (from here on out 2017) starts off slowly but gradually picks up speed and administers the steady drip drop of difficulty and balancing as you progress. In its infant stages the game is likely harder than it will ever seem due to a lack of available powerups (neuromods), so if you can make it through the first four hours or so then chances are you’ll enjoy the game.

    Perhaps the most intriguing choice in design and gameplay is the ability to fully define who Morgan Yu (You, the player) is and just how that effectively ties into the plot as well. Throughout the game you not only determine Morgan’s gender and acquirable skills but also the moral code that he or she adheres to through choice and consequence, not through measly dialogue options or barebones plot development. This aspect of showing and not telling is ever-present throughout the game and I enjoyed the approach a lot more than inserting a bunch of useless and wasted dialogue into an otherwise perfectly ambiguous experience that is open in every sense of the word.

    The set-up, if you don’t already know it, is quite straightforward from the onset: an alien lifeform known as Typhon has taken over the Talos-1 space station and you are its only hope. Whether or not you choose to destroy the Typhon, Talos-1, or even the few remaining humans on board is entirely up to you. I won’t ruin the numerous choices that you must make or abstain from making along the way but let it be known that for each and every action there is an opposite and not always expected reaction. In its opening moments Prey is less concerned with the eradication of the Typhon and more so with the survival of Morgan Yu and discovery of Talos-1 itself. Although it establishes itself as a survival horror shooter of sorts, these elements will largely fall by the wayside as Prey delves deeper into upgrades and it becomes less focused on survival and more on combat- albeit ammo and weapons still being quite scant.

    Combat is where Prey both lives and dies by its sword so to speak. In the early moments of the game it is equally tense and devastating, yet due to the fact that stealth is oddly never quite flushed out you’re virtually forced into combat rather than trying to sneakily make your way across the station. There are certain benefits and drawbacks to the neuromod upgrades you receive over time however the absence of them until later on forces you to attempt to tackle the experience in a much more difficult and meaningful manner. As terrifying as enemies are perhaps even more scary is the ever-present health bar hovering over their heads that barely ticks down with each wasted bullet or wrench smack. Nightmares can especially soak up an extreme amount of damage from even the game’s strongest weapons and as such as foes to be avoided at all costs.

    Only when the game balances a little more in your favor does combat become both meaningful and enjoyable in earnest. After the opening few hours and after acquiring a few mods or upgrades you can feel more at ease in openly wandering the halls of Talos-1 and engaging larger foes than Mimics in close quarters. Using mods to unlock Typhon-related powers is perhaps the most enjoyable Dishonored-like aspect of the game however it also carries an unexpected narrative risk as well. If you spend too much time unlocking these intuitive and useful powers then the automated turrets which once distinguished you from foes will fail to support you and eventually open fire on your Typhon-imbued DNA as well. Of course by that point you’re more than likely unstoppable as is.

    Sound: Both the musical score and voice work are incredibly detailed and well-done. The soundtrack perfectly captures every scare and situation and the voice work is handily delivered throughout the experience when needed.

    Playability: Although it can be complicated to grasp at times the game only proceeds to open up as the space station itself opens to you and you gradually progress deeper and deeper into the experience.    … Expand

    Prey is a consistently impressive and entertaining to play through. It is riveting and very immersive. The setting of this game steals the show. With very smartly planned out RPG elements and an interesting story. It is surely one of the best games of 2017. An easy 10/10. I would buy it again if I could.

The emails, utilities, and crew member functions on the multitude of computers around the station is also a great way of providing the backstory imo. If you need a break from the regular campaign story, you can complete side quests and there are a lot of them that do provide worthwhile rewards. The gun-play can be clunky at times but the general design of the weapons and their variety makes this a fun fps/horror-survival game. I love how you can choose between Typhon and Human Neuromod trees or utilize both and how your in-game decisions can have bearing on what happens; this makes for a pretty dynamic experience. The enemies are a challenge and not your run-of-the-mill adversaries. There is a good mix of enemies in the game and although they can be somewhat generic in how they fight at times (I'm sure this wouldn't be the case on higher difficulties), the focus on their abilities as opposed to their sheer strength or speed makes them fun to strategize against. The mimics keep you on your toes the whole time as nearly any stationary item can be mimicked. I did enjoy the jump scares (even if they did get a little stale by the end but the mimics are the least of your worries by the end of the game anyway), it just added to the eerie feel of the empty Talos 1. The music and sound effects in this game are brilliant for the atmosphere as well! Arkane stressed that you can approach situations in a variety of different ways so if you want more than just a run and gun type of game, you can make it so; it's all up to you in how you want to approach it. There are endless possibilities to the way you can set up Morgan.

    The load times can be a bit long which can be frustrating after you die but I guess that's CryEngine for you... Not many complaints for this game. General minor bugs here and there but i guess that's to be expected nowadays. I just wish there was a strafe/dodge button (double tap A in a certain direction please!) as it would make fighting enemies with projectiles a little less tiresome. The frame rate was a bit jumpy for me at times but pretty steady throughout.

    Overall, I am thoroughly enjoying this game. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who likes this type of genre, without a doubt. Solid 9/10 and I'd give it 9.5 if I could.    … Expand

    Great game! Loved the open world. Really enjoyed every aspect of gameplay. One of the few games that I had to play straight through till the ending. Reminded me a lot of Bioshock. Highly recommend.

In my first walkthrough I even decided to go right at a moment the game told me to go left and I explored for 4 hours rooms I wasn't expected to be in. For at least the first half of the game every encounter, every room is like aI will try not to repeat Joellemm's very good review - mostly complement it. In my first walkthrough I even decided to go right at a moment the game told me to go left and I explored for 4 hours rooms I wasn't expected to be in. For at least the first half of the game every encounter, every room is like a puzzle which has multiple solutions. Add to that a very big ability tree and you can easily enjoy 2 walkthroughs. The game nudges you into going all human abilities once and all typhon the second, and that's how I played it.
    That said, the second time the game's failings show more strongly. Yes, by that time most bugs had been solved (but not all. I even had a case I could enter a room without being able to go out). And yes, by that time you know how not to lose time in the story-wise excellent but mechanically-wise boring ending (it feels more like a speedrun).
    But you'll see clearly all the ways this game forgets to be fun: opening every drawer to collect every piece of scrap starts feeling like a tedious walk out in fallout (even though I never got bored of the recycler's sound). Loading screens are everywhere, either because you navigate the rooms, or because you fell or because you spent more resources than you wanted in an encounter. Did I tell you that everything is a resource, and most resources can be traded for experience? Yes, that unnecessary medikit you spent in the encounter could have been traded for levelling up later. Adding to this that meaningful choices with NPCs are rare (most of the time is 'I cold heartedly murder them or I talk to them?') and the game gave me fewer 'aha! I didn't know that' moments than, for example, Deus Ex. I would recommend an SSD to make the experience smoother, but for some strange reason it seems to increase stuttering in some rooms (particularly the power plant should never have been shipped at this state).
    That said, I understand that for the vast majority of people the question is not whether to play it a 2nd time, but whether to play it at all. Xbox achievement stats are disappointing - about 20% have completed the game (that's the lowest I've ever seen). Advertising the game as 'Bioshock in space' definitely didn't help. This is no Bioshock. It doesn't have enjoyable run & gun combat mechanics. It's a slower affair, more fitting its story and mood. But it's great - better than Bioshock in my opinion - whenever you make a new discovery: when you realise where you are, the first time you go to space, the first time you encounter a new enemy, the first time you actually find somebody living to talk to in this haunted place, and at all the little details around every corpse you encounter.

    Prey is a great game. It requires a lot from player, but brings fantastic experience. It's sci-fi in alternative Universe that tells awesome story, plays like half-life+dishonored+bioshock and have awesome ending. It's very long (that's bad) - about 40 hours of gameplay, but pretty intensive and thrilling. One of the best games in 2017.

    I have been hyped for this game for a really long time now. Arcane Studios is one of the most talented development studios out there and their games released are a testament to that.     Prey starts strong right from the beginning, offering us a rich sci-fi setting that opens into a large, open world free to explore, and fend off the Typhon threat that Talos I has succumbed to, all while uncovering the secret to Morgan's past. The story is a major strong point in this title and does a good job of keeping things fresh all while keeping the player guessing throughout. I came into the story expecting cliche payoffs and a predictable plot, but to my pleasant surprise, the opposite was offered. I found myself heavily invested and it was a major driving factor in what kept pushing me from station to station. I was wanting to hear all dialogue and learn all I could about the organisms that had taken control of the station as well has it's inhabitants. I even got a kick out of listening to the audio recordings that are usually just a throwaway collectible for me in games. While worthwhile narratives aren't always necessary for a finished game to be excellent, it's refreshing to actually care about what is happening around you and to be excited about what's going to happen next, as well as offering something in between the tense moments and the fear of an ambush that is constantly looming over the players head while exploring the collapsed station.

    When I first booted up Prey, I had been reading all about the comparisons, most of which said that this was 'Bioshock/Dishonored in space'. Seems like a fair assessment, but when you play the game, you really feel where the inspiration for several titles came into play. Bioshock and Dead Space with the feeling as you're always being stalked and watched. Waiting for a dormant enemy to spring at you while you are scavenging a room for supplies. Dishonored shows by way of the skill tree that allows for supernatural powers to be used to make survival easier while offering something unique and to really nail in the sci-fi fantasy. The combat in this game is decent, and really that is the most you can say about it. You are constantly outnumbered when you encounter enemies, and they all have the ability to take you down in just a few hits. Don't let the launch trailer fool you into thinking this is a shoot 'em up power trip like Doom. Combat needs to be thought out unless you want to be near death during the entirety of the game. Powers are meant to make life easier, but so far at no point have I felt overpowered. Quite the opposite to be honest, but even though this sounds like a negative, if anything it adds more to the game. Knowing that rushing into a room with several phantoms will result in instant death, it encourages to play smarter and use the tools that are at the disposal of the player. MedKits can be crafted, as well as found scattered around the station, but don't expect to have a big surplus. As well as watching the health bar, your suit will also be in constant need of repair unless you like the idea of being one shotted by any enemy you come across.

    While combat may do it's job just fine, the real selling point in Prey is the atmosphere, and the puzzle aspect of the game. The "play your way" style of Arcane's past shows its head again in Prey. Never will you just casually walk from point A to point B blasting any enemy in your way. There always seems to be a locked door, or several environmental hazards in the path with several ways of getting to where you need to go. The rest is up to the player. Will you find the keycard to the door by searching the near by bodies or offices? Or perhaps mimic a nearby coffee cup, roll into the security room and hack the system to open the door? Or maybe use the GLOO cannon to spray a makeshift stair way up the wall and climb into a vent that leads into the room? All of this knowing that no matter where you go there could be a mimic waiting to leap at you. It's tense, it's scary, it's fun, and this is where the game shines.

    I played this game on Xbox one and of course it was beautiful running on CRYENGINE. Everything on Talos has a sleek shine to it, which compliments the nightmarish strands of fog the alien threat. I experienced hiccups in performance in some areas, and there were framerate drops in some areas, but they never lasted too long, and I'm sure it will be fixed. The music is spot on for the most part, with nice techno-futuristic melodies that compliment what is going on at that moment, from light and peaceful sounds of synthesizer while listening to a story bit, to harsh shrieks when a mimic appears from that banana you just tried to eat.

Take Bioshock, put in a little bit Systemshock and Half Life and you get e very good Game. The only problem, it is with about 30 hours playtime (if you do all the quests) a little bit short.     I have to say that i am very impressed with this game, without spoiling much I think any FPS fan of games like HL, FEAR, or even the newer Deus Ex's will find a lot to like in this game. The perks are really reminiscent of the of the latter but the sound, one of my favorite aspects of this game, really reminds me of the former. For what its worth, the variations in the perk system alone are enough to have me thinking that the Deus Ex Mankind divided team could have learned something from these guys. I was never a huge fan of Dishonored 2's art style but am happy to say that the Cry engine really pulls though here and give off an entirely different feel. That being said, this is not recognizable sequel to the previous Prey installations. The first two hours throw some very heavy, mind bending/reality checking things at you that may require another run to fully appreciate. Much like the first Prey, the emphasis is on forcing you to feel from the perspective of the character straight from the opening cinematic, which will give you varying feeling of daja vu depending on how far into the first hour your are. While the intro had me worried we were going down a very familiar path, the immediate left and right turns you make after fully erased any of those feelings. There are little chunks of great FPS games from the half-life-like sound of the test area malfunctioning, to the FEAR like weightiness of the preorder shotgun you get in your office; it all feels very well put together and best of all well balanced. Weapons (at least the GOO and shotty) have some fantastic animations and, so far, it seems as though the weapons are a bit on the lighter side when in relation to your enemy's. Speaking of the enemys, prepare to start doubting every damn item your looking to pick up. The name Mimic goes very far here. I wont go too far into this short review but long story short, using the GLOO gun and THEN the wrench makes it a much more effective combo since your effectively dealing with black GACK. I'm going to end this review here (unless someone requests that i continue) since i need to continue playing before i give it a final score. Up until this moment which is around the three hour mark, i will have to give this a 8.5/10 just for the fantastic game play.     What a wonderful game, Talos 1 (the space station it is set on), is an absolute joy to explore. There are so many hidden things to find and a wide range of ways to solve each of the problems you encounter. I definitely felt Bioshock vibes from this game however you are given more freedom at the same time. It is defiitely worth a go - get lost in Talos 1 and don't look back.

    Great music and visuals. Professional actors for the voicing. Large expansive game with a diverse array of enemies. Punishingly difficult (without being cheap) if you want to truly defeat the game not just finish it. More options for character progression than i can shake a stick at. I will definitely play it again 100%.

    Also the ending is siiiiiiiiiiick.

    9/10 because:

    Pros:
    - Lengthy game with your moneys worth of content
    - Beautiful looking and sounding game
    - Amazing story. The most bioshock game since bioshock
    - no DLC, no micro-transactions, no season pass
    - known sci-fi actor Benedict Wong provides the main NPC voice
    - Satisfying combat
    - Unique enemies (mimics), nothing like this in any other games
    - Skill tree will take at least 2 play-throughs to see everything
    - Great achievements, can not be completed in less than 3 play-throughs, all would be drastically different experiences so it isn't forced.

    Cons:
    - launched a bit buggy, seems completely fine now
    - too little resources on normal for your first play-through. Devs confusing difficulty for lack of bullets again.

    Top tip:
    to get the most out of this game, play it once on easy like a completionist. Then re-play it on harder difficulties to keep it fresh as your knowledge of the game has improved. I really wish devs would stop confusing difficulty with lack of resources. I can overcome the lack of resources by spending more time looking in cupboards. This isn't difficult its just annoying. I have to experiment to find out the best way to take enemies down; this is trying in a 'resource light' game like prey. Save yourself the frustration and play it on easy, I would rank that experience as near perfect, but i should have got that on normal and not had to switch after 20 hours when nowhere I went had anything left to pick up.    … Expand

    made even more ridiculous when you unlock even more mimic type skills from scanning enemies later on in the game.. it’s just too much for how little the game pays out…

    enemies are sponges even against fully upgraded guns... they do insane damage…
    And the food you find around only gives about 5 health... which is nothing... med kits are extremely rare…. And your health only regenerates to around 30…
    so you’re gonna die a lot…
    you can recycle trash at machines for materials or use recycle bombs for materials and then use these materials to craft medkits and ammo.. But still... these items aren’t all over the place and doesn’t necessarily make med kits or ammo extremely accessible... they’re still rare even with this crafting machine
    No worries you can just stealth around enemies…

    because they have magnets in their head…
    the game tricks you into believing they’re attracted to noise because of certain lure bombs you can use
    but this is a lie… I know this is a lie because there’s one mission in particular where you have to collect voice samples… one part of this mission challenges you to stay alive while a song plays.. After hiding in the room and failed I thought okay, clearly these enemies are attracted to the noise... ill click play and run down the hall and hide away from the room…
    I did this and guess which room the enemies came to?
    Not the one with the song playing... the one I was in just sitting there waiting for me to enter their line of sight to they could attack me…
    and this waiting happens a lot... they won’t move, they will sit and wait until they can see you
    it’s annoying and emersion breaking
    This game has its moments…
    its surprisingly varied considering you’re stuck in a space station…
    it’s fun and thrilling at times running from enemies while you try to find key cards and information to progress…
    But it’s also just as annoying since the game is inconsistent with telling you where to go to progress…
    sometimes your location is marked on the map.. sometimes you have to just feel your way around and search everything while dealing with monsters…
    The game also have a few progression bugs that will cause you to back in and out of a save..
    Which isn’t too bad since you can save at anytime youd like…
    As well as performance issues if you play too long..
    the inventory and weapon wheels start to lag…
    Bugs aside, Prey ultimately suffers from imbalance…
    There are far too few materials, health, or ammo for how spongy and excessive enemies are in this game..
    they become a nuisance instead of a scare…
    I could easily see this being a game of uncertainty with only a flashlight, a wrench, and some mimics…
    But instead Prey sets out to frustrate you for 16 hours… its becomes die and try again to get just a little luckier this time while dealing with over powered monsters… While I definitely did enjoy moments of prey… I didn’t enjoy most of the moments of prey… I give Prey a 7/10    … Expand

    Guns are useless. Chipsets are useless. Stealth is useless. Peeking is useless. Turrets are EXTREMELY useless. And every ability other than Mindjack is useless. Seriously who thought it was a good idea to be able to mind control every enemy in the game for a minute with no cooldown? And its what 2032 and turrets cannot bolt themselves in place? One sneeze and the damn thing falls over.Guns are useless. Chipsets are useless. Stealth is useless. Peeking is useless. Turrets are EXTREMELY useless. And every ability other than Mindjack is useless. Seriously who thought it was a good idea to be able to mind control every enemy in the game for a minute with no cooldown? Theres no reason to kill any enemies since theres no Exp system AND they respawn as soon as you hit a load screen, so its best to just skip past everything because killing the same 5 boring AIs and wasting precious ammo on your nerf guns is pointless.

    Overall this game is sometimes fun, but theres not much more content that wasnt already seen in the free demo. Prey has no interaction or ingenuity that other games like Bioshock and System Shock offer. Prey feels like its trying too hard to NOT be Prey (which is about an Indian killing alien invaders in unique environments that defy gravity and physics) and instead be a cheap ripoff of the other 2 mentioned games. Classic Bethesda bugs and low quality design is to be expected on par with Failout 4.

    I thought the story would ramp up from the main game... but I got to the Deep Storage part and got repeatedly killed because I couldn't even retreat so I uninstalled the game. There is no story other than enemy organism on the station and one sibling wants to destroy it while the other does not... shock, horror, oh look a bunny.

    If they could please release a patch to give it a decent ending this game would be much better. As it is I was left feeling pretty deflated and disappointed after finishing this game. The story just dwindles into nothing important or satisfying. I wouldn't waste my time if I could do it over. Total let down. Not worthy of the name.

    Les débuts sont donc assez flippants et doivent beaucoup à l'ambiance sonore très travaillée et d'une rare efficacité ; dommage que la musique ne soit pas vraiment de la musique mais soit traitée comme un simple fond sonore souvent discordant dont le seul but est d'augmenter la peur...

    L'interface est bien fichue et la maniabilité ne souffre aucune critique, on retrouve ici un confort certain qui fait penser aux Dishonored (sauvegardes manuelles et rapides incluses !). Le jeu étant orienté survie, il faudra recycler tout ce qu'on ramasse dans les recycleurs (pas assez nombreux) puis fabriquer munitions, neuromods et autres gadgets dans les fabricateurs (pas assez nombreux) : si cela met le joueur sous tension quasi-permanente, cela devient néanmoins répétitif et assez usant à la longue.

    Car les ennemis sont pour une grande majorité très costauds (les barres de vie en témoignent) et mangent beaucoup de bastos avant de crever, ce qui signifie qu'il faudra "refaire le plein" souvent aussi bien pour les munitions que pour les neuromods (même si on en trouve de temps en temps), ces neuromods qui sont en fait les augmentations des Deux Ex.

    Des "augmentations" nécessaires pour se la jouer furtivement, une furtivité plus délicate à manier que dans les Dishonored et qui ne m'a pas convaincu pour tout dire. Pas grave, car avec un pompe optimisé et le temps ralenti, on gère toutes les situations xénomorbides pourvu qu'on surveille ses balles comme le lait sur le feu.

    Graphiquement, Arkane se débrouille bien avec le Cry Engine et si ce n'était de rares ralentissements dans des endroits précis, si ce n'était ces temps de chargement pénibles (facilement la minute) entre chaque zone de la station, le jeu propose sa "patte" aussi bizarre et étrange qu'elle puisse être.

    En fait, ces temps de chargement conjugués aux allers et retours incessants -d'autant plus incessants si l'on suit toutes les (innombrables) missions secondaires- entraînent de forts désagréments dans la progression... toutes ces missions annexes ne font en vérité que "meubler" l'immense station et fatiguent énormément.

    Il faudrait en fait ne pas y toucher mais la curiosité est souvent la plus forte, de même que le farmage qu'elle induit et propose, afin de débloquer et d'améliorer notre tas de compétences ! c'est là également qu'on se rend compte que l'architecture des niveaux est loin d'être aussi géniale que dans un Deus Ex MD et qu'elle implique de faire de la plate-forme casse-burnes à la Half-Life via ce flingue-glue idiot.

    Sans doute le plus gros défaut de Prey est-il qu'à force de piocher à droite et à gauche sans compter toutes les idées "cools" d'un bon paquet de jeux-références, il s'égare dans ce qu'il veut finalement faire et ne fait rien d'extraordinaire à part son bestiaire complètement siphonné. Même la fin qui laisse l'illusion du choix, s'éparpille et se marche sur les pieds... en fin de compte !

    Prey demeure pourtant bien fait sur bien des aspects et reste globalement plaisant... mais Dieu qu'il est laborieux sur tout le reste !    … Expand

I was a HUGE fan of the first Prey on Xbox 360 and was expecting something similiar but instead it is a reboot with a completely different canon, premise, etc. This is a let down. I feel it should have been released as a stand alone and not as PREYWhile this is well made I can't help but be reminded of how excellent it could have been if kept in the sames hands as the original creators.     It's not a terrible game but a very uninspiring middle of the road one. Give it a miss and wait for a true sequel to System Shock 2 which was actually Bioshock.    … Expand

    Game is clunky, and not in a good way horror game is suppose to be. It's clunky because it's badly design, enemy move too fast to track due to low Field of Vision, a lot of upgrade are stupid +x% upgrade that almost has no impact, etc.

    Lastly, people at Betheda need to get educated in English. This is not horror, just having player shooting alien is not equal horror. Having limited resource is not equal horror. Having stupid jump scare out of no where is not horror.    … Expand

I couldn't stand the repetitive traveling in zones and I really didn't enjoy the combat. I would've much preferred a 6 hour game with the story compacted in there. Honestly, I would've preferred Prey as a walking simulator - and I'mPrey has elements that are 9/10 or better and other parts that are 4/10 or worse. The combat is not as refined as Arkane's other main series Dishonored. I'd say it's a step below that one, even though there are various animations and moves that are pulled straight from Dishonored and given a new name. It's kinda lazy in my opinion. It feels like that the fact that this is more of a shooter, as opposed to the more stealth like gameplay from Dishonored just wasn't handled properly. And I can't tell you how many times I ran into invisible walls and saw mission icons just disappear when I'd switch to a new area. And the load times when switching from area to area are absolutely terrible for a new game like this.
    The fact that this game replaced the sequel to the very well received original Prey is probably the worst part about this whole thing. And from reading up on what the sequel could have been, it's a shame that it will never see the light of day. I'd recommend to stay away from this one. There are plenty of other FP "immersion" shooters out there that are better then this one. This definitely won't be a popular opinion on here as many people seem to love this game, but this is a below average game from a company that is supposed to put out amazing titles. It just wasn't anything that kept my attention for very long as I've played so many games like this by now that doesn't do anything different.    … Expand

    Prey has very interesting game loop with cool origional ideas. Recyling inventory down to it base molecules is very satisfying and adds to a robust and compelling leveling system..
    Infortunatly! this is a woke game, if you blue pill you will see all the usual crap that turns a potential masterpiece into a Mid experiance.

Load times are the worst of anygame- up to 2.5 minutes per level change. Ride the elevator in the lobby 1 minute, open door to destination 2.5 minutes. If you love watching a load screen more than playing a game, this one isI really had high hopes for this game. If i hadn't saved my game in a different slot, i would have had to start the game completely over. after about 30 hours of gameplay, the enemies get harder and it seems you get less and less ammo. idk why they were so cheap w/ ammo. graphics are great, big map/space station. and your personal items and upgrades are a lot of dues ex. man, if they could just add more ammo this game i would have given a 10, but lack of ammo and every item needed to open a door is an eater egg hunt just slow the game down too much.… Expand

    Being a lover of Half Life and Metroid, this game really filled that current void. The map is the real star of the show and finding all of its' secrets and passageways is addicting and stimulating. The only real negatives are the fairly simplistic combat and sheer number of loading screens I had to fight near the end of the game when I was constantly going all of the map.

    Yes, it shares the name with another "Prey" from 2006, but the two games have absolutely nothing to do with each other, save for their first person perspective and the fact that they're both primarily based in outer space.

    If you've read about this game, there's been plenty of criticism about the controls/combat. I will admit that yes, it's a bit frustrating - at first. However, as you level up your weapons and abilities, combat becomes far more enjoyable, as you have to think about each encounter strategically, rather than clumsily whacking at everything with the wrench. And whatever technical control issues there were at launch have since been patched out.

    I'm knocking a point off for the load times can get very long as you approach the end of the game and need to traverse the entirety of the station multiple times. This is supposedly much better on the PC side, but I haven't played enough of that version to confirm.

    There's a vast world to explore, several ways of accomplishing your objectives, and a compelling story to discover. Check it out - you won't be disappointed.    … Expand

From the questionable experiments resulting in the development of the neuromods to the growing presence and knowledge of the beautifully designed alien species, the Typhon, every story and atmospheric element of Prey is perfect. The narrative itself is gripping because of the unreliable narrator, leading you to question what past versions of yourself are telling you and deciding how you personally want to handle things. It also has an excellent conclusion with a twist I didn't see coming. As well as the story, the tone is fantastic with the first few hours in particular being very tense and somewhat frightening because of the way in which the mimics behave - they can become any object and then reappear when you get close to attack you. Although this tension is somewhat siphoned off in the middle stretch of Prey, the ending escalates the stakes once more.

    Another aspect of Prey I enjoyed was the freedom and vast amount of upgrades to choose from via the use of neuromods - I felt as though I could find a use for each. There were also some fun weapons as well as powers.

    However, Prey is far from polished - I encountered numerous bugs and the loading times are especially bad. Exploration is severely impaired by the painfully long loading screens between each major area. This isn't helped by the countless side quests which demand constant backtracking; the side quests themselves were another thing I took issue with, because there were too many that simply went nowhere. Although some added to the plot and affected the ending, others were too trivial and there were so many that it felt like an unmanageable chore to have to do them at times. Thus, Prey could have been done with streamlining to condense the objectives and focus on more story-driven side quests. It also desperately needs shorter load times and less bugs.

    Ultimately, Prey is a very enjoyable experience thanks to stellar lore and world-building, diverse abilities and ways to play, as well as the varied Typhon enemies that are often fun to fight - although it does sometimes get too chaotic. It is hampered by technical issues including huge frame rate drops and the often meaningless side quests that were too plentiful and boring. The combat could also have been improved slightly to make fighting large groups of enemies more reasonable. I hope to see more immersive sims like Prey in the future, and can't wait for Arkane Studios' next game.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While it’s not the best of its kind, prey manages really well the system shock/bioshock formula. Very few games lately have hooked me this well. The story is good, not awesome but good, I like the characters, the lore behind typhons and talos 1. I really like how the game explains why you don’t remember anything and you have all these different characters trying to lead you to a different path, making you decide who to trust. The multiple endings are good, although I wish there were at least a couple more. The atmosphere is phenomenal, the music is great and really gives you a sense of immersion, there aren’t many actual songs but “mind games” is awesome and respects the game’s feel in a way. Here comes the only gripe I have with this game, the difficulty balance, normal feels too hard and I’ve struggled countless times with materials (on my first playthrough at least) whereas easy feels just a bit too easy, the thing is on normal enemies do a ton of damage, and the game tries to balance this by having stealth too, though I feel the mechanics should have been more refined if they wanted it to be such an essential feature. Also, at the end of my first playthrough, after doing most side missions and exploring most of the station, I still had less than half neuromods installed, it feels like they’re a bit too expensive, and if you invest in the wrong ones (there are 3 that are a must in this game) you could find it hard to recover. Now, the biggest redeeming factor of this game is REPLAYABILITY. New game plus makes this feel like a completely new game, you retain your neuromods so you can do a lot of things early, and since you’re stronger from the beginning you can engage in combat much more often. Be careful though, because turrets will likely be hostile from the beginning due to your already modified dna.
    Overall a very good game, I found it quite enjoyable, 8/10    … Expand

    Fantastic game, fantastic immersive sim. Bioshock 1 flashback was chasing me every second, and that’s a compliment. I already forgot about this genre, and Prey is the best reminder of greatness of such genre of video games. 8,5/10

    I played on Series X and with FPS boost the game ran perfect. Smooth 60fps with no bugs. The Good: -Story- The game does a great job of capturing your interest from the start of the game to the very end. The dialogue is great even though I found the    Prey is one of the best RPGs I've played, and it is an RPG in the truest sense, unlike other "RPGs" (I'm looking at you, Witcher 3).

    -Audio- The sounds and the music, again, flawless, ties in with the visuals to complete the atmosphere and get you fully immersed.

    Prey is a game that makes you question what you're seeing with your own eyes. The shooter caters to almost every playstyle by allowing players to extensively customise their character, choose the best course of action and make their own moral judgements. There are surprises hidden in almost every corner and the most rewards are given to players who take the time to explore the large environment that is Talos-1, both through physical rewards and the extra lore that is tucked away through optional interactions. If you prefer games that allow you to run and gun through a linear story then this isn't for you, but if you like to experience a game at your own pace and in your own way, you can't go wrong with Prey.
