Outer Wilds is a first person free roam game with 22 minutes to save the galaxy. It's Groundhog Day at the end of the Universe, with beautiful environments and unique game play. In a small universe on the brink of catastrophe take your ship and explore the galaxy, picking up clues to help you along. Every time you fail, you start again with all the knowledge you've acquired in an attempt to stop the sun from exploding. The path ahead of you isn't always clear, but the ships log can help you a bit. In those dire moments, you can't figure the next move, sit back and watch the glorious supernova, wake up and get back to it. The exploration alone is enough to keep most glued to the game, and the intrigue makes it a worthwhile experience. The controls are a bit heavy, and feel under-explained, making early game play rough, but once you learn how to better control the ship, and some of the tools, life gets easier. A lot of the controls feel like the could be worked on, but the overall experience well makes up for it. Outer Wilds is an amazing experience, that is barely detracted from with the hefty controls. Exploration at it's finest, and a fun feel, Outer Wilds is a must for those after a grand adventure in space. Expand

The controls take a bit of getting used to, mostly because they're not dumbed down to save you from yourself, you'll need to get proficient at piloting your spacecraft but once you've spent some time glancing of asteroids you'll get the hang of it (and maybe even get good enough to land on a tiny station orbiting closely around the sun). An open world (universe) waits for you to pick over and find out what happened to an ancient race of scientists and why the damn sun keeps blowing up. If you're persistent and a little clever you'll find out.

The sense of discovery in this game is unmatched, even compared to games that are infinitely more vast such as No Man's Sky. Constantly surprising, Outer Wilds is my game of the year without a doubt.

Outer Wilds doesn’t hold your hand along your expedition through space and time, you’re expected to find your way while piecing together a captivating narrative. Don’t worry, you can always try again when you fail.

OW has pulled me into its world as only games could back in my childhood.

wonderful game! go in as blind as you can and try to solve each and everything on your own . it'll even get emotional from time to time and the soundtrack is really good!

Graphics are a little outdated though, but as i read that this idea was sort of an university exam i'm still amazed!

This DLC proves again what artwork the entire game is, and how talented the developing studio is. This DLC creeps out more than some horror games, in a very subtile way.

Outer Wilds is obviously nothing more than what it claims to be, and that's a small open-world adventure puzzler. Despite this simplistic presentation, it's at the #1 spot on my list of favorite games and for good reason, as it combines an emotional narrative with thought-provoking puzzles and a breathtaking world that imbues a sense of childhood wonderment in my heart. You have 22 minutes to explore a creatively designed, open universe before your galaxy comes to an end. You gather clues at your own pace, unlock new areas and discover further reaches of the galaxy as you read through the lore scrolls and notes scattered across the varied planets. A Majora’s Mask type gameplay loop in a smaller and much more beautiful version of a No Man’s Sky style universe with Myst like puzzles and intrigue.

    Scoring Breakdown

Story: 10/10 — A sci-fi story of space exploration, scientific discoveries and time travel. Well-written hours and hours of intriguing lore.

Music: 10/10 — The menu screen opens with a banjo-based band that sets the wild-west tone for the game with throwbacks to space cowboy shows like Serenity. The music is an excellent fit for the setting and will get stuck in your head.

Graphics: 8/10 — More No Man’s Sky grade graphics without the realism of Star Citizen. Small studio with a low budget, but this did not affect the gameplay in any significant way.

Gameplay: 10/10 — One of the best parts about the game — a Majora’s Mask style loop of certain and impending doom is absolutely addictive and allows for short 22 minute play throughs between “saves.” It’s not about what you unlock — more about what you learn —- that helps you progress through the story and the galaxy. Every time I died, I couldn’t wait to get back to the last planet I was on and open the door that had just barely slipped out of my reach.

World Design: 10/10 — Absolutey awesome and unparalleled, varied and finely-crafted planets with hours of exploration. From the first time I played to hours in I still feel that sense of smallness when I take off from the home-world planet.

Characters: 8/10 — The characters are hilarious. They just don’t talk. The absence of voice acting is one of the only negatives in this game and again likely due to budget constraints of the small studio.

    Overall: 9/10 AMAZING GAME!

This is a nearly perfect game but for the fact that there is no voice acting and the characters look fairly generic. Once I got into the story loop and started understanding the universe, I couldn’t stop thinking about this game and its Myst-like puzzles and the secrets of the Nomai’s scientific breakthroughs and otherworldly discoveries.

    Interstellar meets Groundhog:

I gamepass'd it and got all the achievements. Took a little over 20 hours to complete but this is a good example of quality over quantity. The game is great fun with tons of atmosphere, profound moments and interesting planets to explore. When the credits were rolling, I was content with how the game ended and was happy to collect the last few achievements.

    Here are my complaints:

Space ship controls are a little primitive and the ship log is only accessible on the ship. I understand the need to have simple controls but once you get the hang of them you'll wish you could do more advanced techniques like matching orbits. It would also be nice if you could access the ship log remotely. I can't count how many times I lost the ship and had to skip to the next cycle to check to see if I missed something. Maybe there is a way but I couldn't find one.

If you like exploring and already have gamepass, it is a must try and if you have $25 bucks, I would say that's a fair price.

I'm not sure I can compare Outer Wilds to anything else, it's just such an incredible and unique experience. I wanted to love this game but I've ended up kind of hating it.

It's an amazing premise but the exploration is not fun and it gets more and more tedious the further in you get.

I feel terrible giving this original concept that seems well executed a poor rating, but I really dread the thought of ever playing this game again.

Personnaly I don't play video games for the stories or writing, I think gamedevs are just terrible at both because it's not their field of specialty.

It has a mechanic that after your first special trip starts a counter that will be resetting the solar system every 22 minutes. It's on the Xbox Game Pass.

    The bad:
If you hate cartoonish graphics, this is not for you. If you like to take the time to research, explore and search for things but don't like being chased away over time, this is not your game. You can't do everything. You have to train a lot to learn minimally to land, to repair in zero gravity and survive, this is important since after the first trip the rest of the explorations are already against the clock and the worst thing that can happen is that you spend 22 minutes repairing the ship or trying to land on a very small platform that is spinning at high speed. No, as such there is no clock that will mark what is missing, but you will hear how the background song changes and you will "see the light". Difficult achievements.

    Meh !:
With the "Hall of Fame" promotion I installed this game thinking about Obsidian's The Outer Worlds and I was hooked by the curiosity of knowing what happens next and trying "what if you do this, what if ...". The achievements have little or nothing to do with the story, you get them for doing **** (launch your ship through a gravity cannon, die in 60 seconds, what is this button for?, Crash brutally, try to escape ... ), you spend a cycle doing something silly

I was pretty quickly enthralled by this game. My roommate watched me play through it and helped me through some of the hardest puzzles. We both agree that this is one of the best if not the best games of 2019. The atmosphere of the game created by the music and the sense of urgency set by the 22 minute time limit really add something great. All the music is calming and beautiful but you know you're on the clock and that combo is really surreal to me. Once you hear the music letting you know you're almost out of time it becomes a mad dash to finish what you're doing. The story is so fun to uncover following threads of leads across the solar system and filling out your ships clue tree feels so good and gives you a sense of accomplishment. I like that the game doesn't hold your hand and really makes you use your head. The whole time I was enjoying learning new things even though I didn't know at all what I was trying to uncover or accomplish. That is amazing to me and I wish it was a theme more represented in games. The games doesn't tell you "Oh you gotta do this this and this to win the game, main objective over here". You have to uncover the story and figure out your purpose yourself and I loved every minute of it. I liked this game so much that after I played through on the Game pass I went back and bought it out right. I thought that this group did such a good job on this game I needed to give them my money directly. This may seem dumb considering the only flaw with this game in my mind is that there is no replay-ability (unless you are a speed runner). Which is why I decided to go 9 instead of 10 only because I can't induce specific amnesia on myself so I can experience it all over again. Expand

Totalmente, completamente perfeito.

You are thrust into the solar system as an explorer, with space exploration being the only objective of the game.

Within your journey, you unravel more and more of the mystery present throughout the worlds you discover, usually done through written accounts.

The lore and story are very rich and compelling and it is driven entirely through your own curiosity, piecing together the events past.

Knowledge is also what will almost always help you get past obstacles and understand the mechanics of some natural or artificial elements.

I would recommend everyone to at least try playing this once as it is such a unique and wonderful gaming experience.

All of that being said, the technical performance on the PS5 was very disappointing, the game not being able to keep a steady 60 fps. There were very frequent fps drops and lots of stuttering for me.

The game also feels like it's not respecting your time, I've found myself just waiting for certain world states to happen for me to progress to where I wanted to be, or dying in ways where it wasn't really my fault which all prompted a lot of backtracking, and more waiting, which was quite frustrating.

Requiring key items that you had no business of having once you've found your way into important areas through incredibly confusing mazes, would also require backtracking.

Missing very tiny time windows in order to solve some puzzles would also make it so you'd want to restart, and thus, wait and waste more time.

All of these issues and more will bother people in different ways, or not at all, so if you can get past them there is definitely a lot of good stuff to uncover if you like this type of game.

The graphics aren't the most realistic you're gonna see, but it doesn't make the game bad. Quite the opposite! It fits right in the game, making it even more beautiful. I didn't "witnessed" any bugs during the gameplay, so I believe you might not come across any as well. And this all resumes why Outer Wilds is my favourite game. Expand

Andrew Prahlow created an amazing soundtrack that fits with this game so well that if it wasn't there then the game would lose most of it's value. The soundtrack is so emotional especially no really only if you've beaten the game, Generally The game is so emotional to the point that it can't be considered a casual video game for fun but a masterpiece of art. 99% of people who play the whole game through agree that it is an amazing experience and it must be played with as little knowledge of the game it's self before playing. I urge anyone who is reading this review to please go into the game blind. Don't look up guides for any of the puzzles. Trust me when I say this. Once you are done with the game you will wish to wipe your memory of the game and play it over again as if you were playing again for the first time. Expand

What a beautiful game. It looks amazing, the controls are tight, and the story and setting are just next level. The puzzles are rewarding and watching each piece of the game's story come together after multiple loops to tell a beautifully moving story is supremely satisfying. I feel bad that I waited so long to play it. Check it out as soon as you can!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Outer wilds me fez pensar, me fez sorrir, me fez chorar (de emoção) e me fez apreciar cada momento que eu vivi, as brigas, as conversas, as amizades, etc.
