Fun until you hit the pay wall. Game is totally pay to win. Pulls you in with a great combat system and MMOgoodness, then it attacks your wallet with all the fury and tenacity of a rabid honey badger.

Slow start with a poor tutorial system on how basically EVERY feature of how the game works other than basic combat. Everything else is a wall of text that they force you to read to get an understanding... but after you establish a minimal understand of what the hell is going on around you and what you are even capable of doing, the game opens up to have a bit more of a real MMO feel.Slow start with a poor tutorial system on how basically EVERY feature of how the game works other than basic combat. Everything else is a wall of text that they force you to read to get an understanding... but after you establish a minimal understand of what the hell is going on around you and what you are even capable of doing, the game opens up to have a bit more of a real MMO feel. Another downfall would be they give you the bare minimum of what you need to play the game, and because of it, you are left with an insatiable hunger for everything that costs money in the game to benefit you from Bag Space to Companions... and the game is severely less enjoyable with out them.

The best / funnest part of playing this MMO was playing with friends, unfortunately it is also the slowest way to progress through the level grinding stage of the game due to the limitations set by the pay to play features... eg, You never have enough bag space, so if you play with friends, you will find yourself spending 5-20 minutes between quests clearing items for different people unless you paid for extra bag space... that or turning in quests in different areas of the game and without a high speed mount, its a boring and long walk most of the time.

My biggest quarrel with the entire game was its poor Customer Service Policies. I had spent 100$ on the game in the first week being deceptively tricked into thinking the game was alot more than it was, and along the way while playing with friends, I experienced a programming glitch that did not allow me to get quests for an entire instance area (Neverdeath Graveyard). Because of this glitch, I quickly fell WAY behind my group of friends I was playing with and had absolutely no way to keep up because majority of experience in the game comes from quest turn ins... so I reported the problem to customer service, and requested for some sort of compensation in the form of an exp booster so I could try to quickly catch up to my friends, but was replied with a msg letting me know that I was experiencing an unreported bug, and directed me to the forums to go do THEIR JOB for them in the form of explaining the bug, while at the same time apologizing to me because its against policy for them to compensate anyone for any reason. I understand if I was a normal free to play player who "gets what they paid for", but I was obviously an actual paying customer that was told basically, "I am sorry you spent money on my broken game, too bad, have a nice day!"... Terribly pathetic.

After looking forward to Neverwinter coming out on 3/31/15 I was highly disappointed. Reading up on the release there were no times posted that I could find for the initial release. Only to be let down at the fact I couldn't. I waited 10-15mins thinking it might have been delayed. Next to the launch screen I saw twitch channels streaming Neverwinter. So like many others I jumped into the stream to see and ask whats up. Come to find out it was not going to be release until 10am pst. That means that the few chosen or paid, however they were selected, got to get a 10hr jump on the rest of us. Ok so that was irritating, but I'll hop on when I can, but clearly already being let down. Got on the game, pushed through the tutorials, finally get out to the Black Lake Disrict,(first questing zone outside the city). start loading and the game crashes. So I relaunch...guess what...let down again. I start to reload and I'm having to go through the beginning settings again, fitting the screen/linking my account. I think ok, hopefully this is just a fluke and I still have my character. NOPE! My character was deleted as well, only being lvl 6 was still disappointing. Stayed up to hop on at release, let down, got on to play, character was deleted. So an hour of play time trying to figure out all the controls and go through the tutorials, staying up for release and not being able to play, and all that time wasted. Along with having to write a review about how let down I am. Another let down at release. Awesome. Expand

This is a terrible game. No matter what, DO NOT GET THIS GAME.First off just for a new race a bag and a couple other unimportant things that you will most likely never use it costs 75 dollars. Rip off much? Not to mention if you want a half decent mount the lowest you will pay is 20-25 dollars. Not only does it have a 5 second stun (Which cannot be broken out of) it has a move which when used with the classes special feature has hit my tank class for 6k at level 49. Rediculous. Also, the class has the chance to get a special weapon which levels with you, making it the most overpowered weapon in the game until you hit 60.

Basically if you like PvP and want a fair and balanced game do not get neverwinter.

Perfect World Entertainment will steal from you, let's just address that first. Bugs and glitches in their game, Neverwinter, may well cause you to lose Zen, and/or Astral Diamonds. This happened to me. When I sent in a ticket to "Customer Support" I was told that they had no record of the error, and would therefore not refund me. I reviewed the game previous to this and gave it a more favorable review. Considering that the company finds it acceptable to steal from its player base, I can't help but find the game difficult to enjoy, which is why I've now rated it much lower.

This is a paid to win game and if you want to reach a high-end player level, you better get that wallet ready or you will be forced to grind at least 8 hours per day. PvP is impossible, you will get matched with people who have gear 2 times better than yours - impossible to win, you will just die each time you try to do something. Would not recommend.

Ok so made it to lvl 20 now and have to admit it is a good attempt at a mmo unfortunately the play so far has bee ridiculously easy with ABSOLUTELY NO CHALLENGE. The constant running back to sell because there is no real storage space you can get bags but either pay for them with real cash or take a couple weeks and buy through the AH but then the price is outrageous either way. So hears my advice if you have nothing better to do have no competitive side to you at all and just want to sit and mash buttons this is the game for you. If you actually want a challenge then this is not. It is free to play unfortunately that is only true if you have no will to advance your character. Just getting your character mobile and able to quest/rId for any length of time you will be spending well over $150 so save some time and money and just find a mmo that is prescription based that you enjoy and enjoy a much fuller and rewarding game. Hurry up EQ Next I need my MMO fix. Expand

Neverwinter is quite a mixed bag: there's plenty of fun in all its quests and controls are adapted very well for the controller, but it's also pretty repetitive, technically lacking and with a microtransaction system that tends to be a little perverse.

The Xbox One version is pretty much identical to the PC one, if you don't consider some nasty framerate drops that really shouldn't be there.

Neverwinter might be competent, but it's rarely fun or interesting. [Issue#161, p.96]
