Monster Hunter: World effortlessly meets its high expectations and delivers what may well be the best RPG of this generation. The world is as fascinating as it is beautiful, jam-packed with wonders and dangers of equal measure. Each and every system within has been carefully crafted and seamlessly feed into one another magnificently well. The game remains in-depth yet surprisingly accessible throughout the entirety of play, welcoming and uniting newcomers and returning fans alike. It’s a truly breathtaking adventure. Simply put, and I don’t say this lightly, Monster Hunter: World is a masterpiece.

It's great to see that the franchise makes a triumphant debut on Microsoft's machine because many gamers expressed concerns about optimization and other issues before launch. If you like challenging experiences along the lines of Dark Souls, be sure to give Monster Hunter: World a go. The game will keep you engaged for dozens of hours because it takes patience more than anything to become a legendary hunter.

Monster Hunter: World captures that feel of hunting, and despite its technical quirks and poor design decisions, if you've got a group of friends to play with it comes highly recommended. If you're running solo, you might be better waiting for a sale.

If you’re a button-masher, you’ll absolutely hate it. If you want deep, immersive combat that requires forethought and a plan, you’ll love it. There is so much diversity and depth in the weapons and environments and in the systems of the game that it can be a little overwhelming at first, but it’s worth every bit of time it takes to master them. Add all that depth to a beautiful, immersive environment with all sorts of hidden secrets and you wind up with a strong Game of the Year candidate.

Edit: I get the gripes with multiplayer right now, but it’ll be fixed within a week. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up.
