Monochroma successfully does what few two-dimensional platformers can do in today’s marketplace, it tells an interesting and moody story that sucks you in. In short, it’s a beautifully rendered, wonderful bit of escapism.

Ignore Monochroma's provenance and forget about its place in a broader context, and just focus on what's here — and on that count, it delivers.

While I enjoyed the game from an aesthetics perspective, I wish that the controls were tighter and the puzzles more challenging.

At around three hours’ running time, there’s not a whole lot of game on offer, but if you enjoy a puzzle platformer and liked the style of Limbo, Monochroma is definitely worth a visit.

Nowhere Studios' game has got as many qualities as defects: the brilliant artistic design and the good environmental puzzles get counter-balanced by lots of bugs and imprecise controls. All in all, it's definitely a game worth trying for Limbo-like games lovers.

Monocroma tries to capitalize on the success of games like Limbo, but unlike those games, it fails to achieve anything of substance. The story is open to interpretation and leaves you wondering why the developers chose these set of events to try and convey that.

The largest drawback to Monochroma was the repetition and simplicity of the game which makes it very boring to play. - See more at: http://cogconnected.com/review/monochroma-review/#sthash.ZHxCjDCL.dpuf

Towards the end of the 3rd chapter (out of 4 chapters), there is what you would call a "boss" encounter with an octopus man. The timing is ridiculous and even with perfect timing the responsiveness is only about 95% effective so you die...A LOT!!!!!

Prior to that segment, I would have rated the game a solid 7.5 to 8.0. The premise is interesting, the graphics are very pleasing, the gameplay is above average with that 95% responsiveness, and the puzzles are fun but not insanely difficult to figure out.

This one boss encounter ruins the entire experience. After 37 tries, it was time to make the decision to uninstall it from my Xbox. I mostly come into Metacritic to complain about games that I have bad experiences with. It allows me to vent.
Please understand that i do not mind a challenging game,.....but stupidity in programming infuriates me. I game to have fun. Repeating the same impossible boss encounter 30+ times is not fun.
Maybe next game Nowhere Studios. Please focus on quality control throughout the ENTIRE game.
