    With its dark setting and undertone, Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is a worthy and memorable Metroidvania adventure, even more-so to those that like to find every secret or love to speedrun. Visually it’s a masterpiece, and clearly a labor of love that hasn’t gone unnoticed, especially its' fluid animation in pure 16-bit bliss. Even though it does have a few minor faults, as an overall package, especially at its price point, it should be experienced for anyone that loves the genre or wants to relive the 16-bit glory days.

    Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is a great game despite its short length and difficulty. It requires skill and patience so don’t expect a casual platformer. It’s polished, beautiful and really reminds you why smaller games are so important to any console.

    It is hard not to recommend Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight to anyone craving that Castlevania vibe. I just wish it had more to it. The lack of upgrades and short lifespan make it feel half-baked at times. However, with a hardcore mode to unlock and neat hidden upgrades scattered throughout, it more than justifies its price tag.

    For hardcore gamers looking for a solid metroidvania fix, Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is quite possibly worth the asking price despite its issues.

    I love trying new games and when it comes to metroidvania games..count me in. So one of the huge benefits of game pass is that you get to tryI love trying new games and when it comes to metroidvania games..count me in. So one of the huge benefits of game pass is that you get to try games that normally you’d wait to see if they become free with games with gold but this one came to game pass so I thought..hey..could be cool. Well...it was pretty bad. Unless your truly desperate for a single player metroidvania type of game then get this one. It’s not that it’s difficulty is all that bad but I just found it very bland and blah. Sure the old school graphics have its charm but there is a lot more games of this genre that are far more better. But back to difficulty..I found if the controls of the gameplay doesn’t match a difficult game then it truly makes it more of a bore then fun. Games like Celeste are spot on difficult but the precision of control is amazing even if it’s hard as hell..this game tries that middle ground of hard yet not to bad. But I just wasn’t having fun. Even if this game was out in the 80s. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it back then as well. Some people enjoyed this and I did watch the walkthroughs and the more I watched I thought..well..it looks like the difficulty ramps up to kinda dumb. Yes...I know games are suppose to get harder but to the point of getting cheap and you have to keep hoping you get lucky..nah..we live in the year 2019..these flaws cannot be overlooked anymore...but give it a try..you may like it more then I did...I played it for an hour or so and then uninstalled it. Just didn’t pull me in.… Full Review »
