I love trying new games and when it comes to metroidvania games..count me in. So one of the huge benefits of game pass is that you get to try games that normally you’d wait to see if they become free with games with gold but this one came to game pass so I thought..hey..could be cool. Well...it was pretty bad. Unless your truly desperate for a single player metroidvania type of game then get this one. It’s not that it’s difficulty is all that bad but I just found it very bland and blah. Sure the old school graphics have its charm but there is a lot more games of this genre that are far more better. But back to difficulty..I found if the controls of the gameplay doesn’t match a difficult game then it truly makes it more of a bore then fun. Games like Celeste are spot on difficult but the precision of control is amazing even if it’s hard as hell..this game tries that middle ground of hard yet not to bad. But I just wasn’t having fun. Even if this game was out in the 80s. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it back then as well. Some people enjoyed this and I did watch the walkthroughs and the more I watched I thought..well..it looks like the difficulty ramps up to kinda dumb. Yes...I know games are suppose to get harder but to the point of getting cheap and you have to keep hoping you get lucky..nah..we live in the year 2019..these flaws cannot be overlooked anymore...but give it a try..you may like it more then I did...I played it for an hour or so and then uninstalled it. Just didn’t pull me in. Expand

Poorly designed and just generally terrible. Feels like an intern project..

The good: It is a very competent metroidvania. Your Pixel Art will surprise you and has many light effects and rotation effects of sprites and scenarios moving in different planes and different speeds. High difficulty old-school type, enemies positioned in strategic places just to **** you, peaks of instant death, ravines with spikes, 4 huge bosses (there are more bosses but they are small or more or less your height), enemies bathed in acid than at touching them will lower you half of your life bar (even with the Health improvements, the game artificially fixes the damage so that they take away what is proportional to the half life you have). It is in the Game Pass. Interesting story with a veil of mystery. New Game + option

The bad: Very short. As is the game number 4 of a saga, the many others do not even know, the names and relationships between the characters, because they pass by. Difficult achievements (archivements hunters run away from this game).

The Meh!: I expected an ultra-powerful revelation and especially the rifle of all Metroidvania games “the inverted map” since the scenarios lend themselves a lot to have its mirror version, but there was nothing at all just New Game +

The game is decent it doesn't have any bugs or game breaking issues.

but the game is poorly and doesn't try anything new either there are a lot of other games in this genre that do a lot better and this game just falls flat on its face. There is no real platformer or no real challenge in combat or no real metroidvania aspects of the game. You do get new abilities but those are not

I completed this game in 3 hours and it did not give any achievements which is just too bad and does not feel rewarding. To get a achievement you need the good ending but the game didnt had me interested to get that ending so I just quitted after completing it once. Also the game gives no clue about a good or bad ending.

The animations look good tho so props to that.

I give it a 6 out of 10 because its decent but not interesting or new.

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight takes a simple approach in its metroidvania aspects, but it's still a hell of a challenge and ultimately fun to play.

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is a great game despite its short length and difficulty. It requires skill and patience so don’t expect a casual platformer. It’s polished, beautiful and really reminds you why smaller games are so important to any console.

The $10 game is a relatively short jaunt with an enjoyable story, and it is challenging, with the right blend of atmosphere and solid combat.
