They really don't make games like this anymore. Though, it feels as if Bioware set out to make a remaster/remake of ME1 to begin with, as it has the most changes and improvements. As someone with over 1000+ hours of the ME trilogy before the LE, I've noticed quit a bit of improvements, and non-improvements.

Most of what I wanted in a ME1 remaster/remake have been accomplished, though a bit more should have been done to at least make combat identical to ME2, but it's not too far off. ME1 definitely feels way more modernized than its original release, but still feels a bit old. Some people complain that Pinnacle Station DLC wasn't included, but why are you complaining? Pinnacle Station literally added nothing of importance to the game, it was just a boring combat simulation. Good riddance I say. I also see that they didn't adjust any of the volumes in the conversations, most notably on the Normandy. I still struggle to hear many of Garrus' lines, his volume for his dialogue is still way too low. Bioware sure loves their lens flares, and they went overboard in ME1. They really need a patch to bring it back in some, as it's way too much.

Outside of graphics overhauls and stability, ME2 and ME3 remain mostly unchanged. However bugs and glitches are more prevalent than they were in the original releases. ME2 has lots of audio bugs, that make me wince at some of them. ME3 has AI bugs. For instance, using the Throw biotic makes many enemies permanently stay on the ground. It's like the AI thinks it's still in the air while being on the ground, unable to do anything. Animations for both games are off. While both had some in original releases, it feels like there's more of them. In cutscenes, when Shepard has their hand against their ear to talk over comms, pretty much every instance has their hand a good few inches off their ear, or a character had their hands wrapped weirdly against their gun. It seems as if they redid many animations from scratch, and they released a rough version of it without and additional oversight.

Overall, a great remaster, and I loved the ME1 improvements the most. Once the bugs and glitches get fixed through future updates, this will be the way to play the greatest series ever.

It is a must play, the remaster was created with love, you can see the graphics are improved but the history remains the same, I never played Mass effect and when I did with Andromeda I hate it. But this trilogy brings me joy to know Mass effect is excellent franchise.

Three of the greatest games ever made and the greatest video game trilogy out there.
The first game has seen numerous improvements. Graphically it's been improved quite a bit and the combat is now much smoother. There are a few bugs but nothing game breaking. I will also point out that some of the facial retexture's look a little off but only in rare cases.

The definitive way to experience this truly LEGENDARY trilogy. Buttery smooth frame rate, 4K visuals and slightly improved gameplay mechanics. This definitely isn't your typical remaster it's better. If you've never played now is your time. I will say the game definitely doesn't feel like a 2021 game but it is still miles better than it was originally. To me this is GOTY

I get it, the Russian dub is bad. It still is no reason to bomb this collection of games.

As it is, it's a great deal. Most Mass Effect fans, (myself included) never purchased the dlc. Buying all of the DLC from the original games, together, would be the same, if not more money, completely disregarding the 4K, enhanced visuals, better framerates, and a better graphical quality

Buying all of the DLC from the original games, together, would be the same, if not more money, completely disregarding the 4K, enhanced visuals, better framerates, and a better graphical quality all-around.

The main selling point of the franchise is the many improvements made to the outdated Mass Effect 1. Now, are these changes drastic? Yes. Is the combat better than 2 and 3? Hell no.

Adding on the absurd amount of achievements that can be reached, (for large pools of points) this collection is amazing for returning fans, and new ones alike.

Even if you've recently played the games, it's still worth the $50-$60USD for the many improvements.

This is how a remaster should be made, and other companies ought to be ashamed for full priced remasters months after the game's release. You know who I'm talking about.

My favourite franchise, if these where a series or film they would easily be the next Star Wars or trek.
Look and plays amazing on series X 120fps, I literally cannot go back to 30, it feels wrong.
Few bugs at launch and needs headphone support fixed to stop crashes, like most adults I only get to play once the kids are in bed. Playing on a tv with low volume is a bit rubbish. Otherwise

I'm not here to argue about any of the good or bad things that came with each release before hand. I'm going to focus on the improvements made to each game and how it affects a returning player to the series.
Most of the upgrades have been made to ME 1, as that's the oldest one obviously, and they did a pretty good job here. The upgrades to the graphics are very impressive, outside of a few misses with some character models like with Captain Anderson and Udina. Both of them have issues with their eyes almost bugging out of their heads on some cutscenes and Udina's skin pigmentation seems to fluctuate weirdly. The gameplay was updated to be almost exactly like ME 2, without some of the more enjoyable classes that game brought with it though. However it didnt all stick as the controls for the cover system are just garbage and made me just never want to use cover at all. And the updates to the Mako's controls are nice but really doesnt do much to make those segments of the game any more enjoyable then they were before. However it was a fun and refreshing experience as the biggest and best upgrade, for those playing on a Series X at least, is the massive decrease of load times across all titles. I'd say about a 1/3rd of the time I spent with the original ME games, all 3 of them, were just staring at loading screens, especially the first game. The load times here are so short that it really lets the game flow much better then it ever has before and kept me interested and entertained throughout the entire thing. Its one of the biggest updates that was made to each game and it easily does the most to making this the best remaster it could be.
While each game shows its age in certain areas, especially ME 1, this is still one of the best original video game trilogies that's been released in decades. For those who went through the game before, I'd definitely say its worth it just for the lack of load times by itself. That alone made this a much more enjoyable experience then I thought would be possible. For newcomers I cant recommend it enough.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is probably my favorite series of all time. Although a few things in the Legendary should have been changed imo. I'm going to start by addressing the negative comments coming from people about "removing" Miranda's butt, and more first. First off the removal was because fans for 5 years were **** about it being in Mass Effect 2 in the first place. It gets removed and y'all **** There's no pleasing you. Mass Effect 1 played exactly how the entire series should have, anyone complaining about the combat wanted to play a shooter not a tactical RPG. Let's address the price, 3 games plus all but 1 DLC for 29.99 USD. I spent 20 for my vanilla copy of ME1 ON PC literally just the other day. Finally let's address the people screaming this isn't a remake. They're right. But no where during marketing did EA or Bioware say it was going to be. The LE is exactly as marketed, an HD higher Frame rate, better looking release with all DLC. While Yes, I want a remake making the series more RPG like, and fixing some things, in lines with Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, I didn't purchase this thinking it was that. If you did, you should probably give your consoles to someone who deserves them. Let's start with Mass Effect 1 my favorite of the 3. The addition of a mark as trash was great, but should have been extended to mods for weapons and armor. Some of the left out cheat console items should have been added back. The "lost" dlc that you can still buy should have been rewritten to be included. Finally the most annoying aspect the mako should have been reworked. It still controls like crap, making planetary exploration tedious instead of fun. Mass Effect 2 is next, it should have been made to be more RPG like from the get go. The addition of thermal clips, and loss of omnigel for bypassing took out a lot of the SciFi from the game. The lack of weaponry, the lack of weapon stats, real armor, and inventory items made the game more fps and less RPG . Mass Effect 3 is final. This game tried to blend the two previous games to make everyone happy, and it did a great job. However once you hit priority Tunchanka the rest of the game feels rushed, like they were told finish this game within the next 6 months. So every choice you made, every ally you made, doesn't really mean anything in the scheme of the ending. It goes from gathering allies to help fight a war, to you pick the end. Whoever wrote this ending should have been fired. Expand

Only 3 years ago did I first play "Mass Effect" on my Xbox. I placed in the disc expecting a simple space drama with aliens and fighting. By the end of the third game I had fallen in love with every character and had genuinely cried at several points across the series. As soon as I could I pre-ordered legendary edition and I wholeheartedly believe it is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

I'll keep things brief here but go in depth on the individual game posts.

    3) Mass Effect (2007) 8/10. The game that kickstarted the franchise is a classic and is essential for anyone who's a fan of RPGs. Creating your commander or going with the default is your choice. For new players I'd suggest the default Shepard as this provides the easiest gameplay. This game established the brilliant and inventive world of Mass Effect as well as setting the foundation for the future of the incoming reaper threat. The companions all have something interesting to bring to the table allowing for genuine drama and heartbreak later down the line.

    2) Mass Effect 2 (2010) 10/10 this game gives more of a backseat to the story and has its main focus as the characters. From the start of the game you're told that you most likely won't survive but you have to save the galaxy. Everything from the first game is improved and we have a much bigger crew which actually makes sense considering the stakes. Every companion brings something to the table, even the two I disliked in the form of Jacob and Zaeed. I enjoyed that the crew didn't always get along and you needed to gain their loyalty and settle arguments, and that final battle is a truly epic spectacle with heart and action that I'd argue rivals some modern films.

    1) Mass Effect 3 (2012) 10/10 now I understand this is a controversial first place but I loved it. From start to finish there's emotion, humour, brilliant character moments and action. All the characters we love have their arcs finished in satisfying ways. There's heartbreaking decisions, conflicting moral choices and the struggle to unite a galaxy. Leaving Earth is the best opening to any of these games where you just need to survive. And that final battle of taking back Earth is a strong emotional victory lap that's well-earned. Is it self-indulgent at times, yes but rightly so. The Citadel DLC is pure fan-service but it does it masterfully and is self-aware at how goofy it's trying to be. All the characters come back making for a fun time while also carrying a somber tone knowing they're all going into the crescendo that is stopping the reapers. The highlight of this for me was the visits to Shepard's apartment and the party where each character basically got an emotional or fun goodbye and at the end all got to get loose and laugh one last time. This was a perfect ending to me and I was left heartbroken but happy at the end.

On the whole, very enjoyable to jump back into the series with most of the DLC included. After looking at the user reviews, there are some fair and unfair criticisms. In my opinion, unless a remaster is a substantial improvement in gameplay (like RE2 and debatably RE3), no remastered game deserves any higher than an 8. On that note, I'm fine maxing this one out at an 8 simply because of how much I love the story of these games.

I can't speak about the non-english dubbing/dialogue options. In my opinion, that seems to be a fairly valid complaint if it truly makes the game unplayable.

For people complaining about this game costing the same as a brand new game, you guys and gals realize this is three games in one, right? Even if I purchased the backwards compatible versions of all three games with all DLC, I'd probably spend a similar amount of money if not more. That's pretty nit-picky and borderline invalid to me.

For people complaining about the lack of improvements outside of ME1, there is some validity to that but I think the graphics and gameplay were well enough in ME2 and ME3 when they initially released to where lack of significant improvements really doesn't turn me off to the remaster. Now... If EA/Bioware ever remaster Dragon Age Origins and/or Dragon Age 2 (which I hope they do), they definitely need to upgrade gameplay and graphics.

My only true complaint about the game is related to material gathering. For ME1, the difference between a drivable surface and non-drivable surface is frustrating and can needlessly add 10-15 minutes to planet exploration. For ME2, they should've restructured or even redone material gathering/planet probing. The amount of time spent probing planets and spending time flying back-and-forth between a fuel station to buy more probes is probably comparable to actual play time. I'd imagine reducing probe locations while increasing materials gathered per probe launch would've been a fairly easy solution.

All-in-all, I'm happy with my purchase and look forward to getting a few playthroughs in.

This is great value, as you get three games with each of 20-25hrs of gametime, and if you have gamepass it makes it even better. This was a series i've heard about but never played until just now, and man I wished I did so when it first came out. The individual games I'll give probably different scores than 10/10, but the value for this is too dang good.

ME1: Very solid game, but clunky

This was a series i've heard about but never played until just now, and man I wished I did so when it first came out. The individual games I'll give probably different scores than 10/10, but the value for this is too dang good.

ME1: Very solid game, but clunky at times with the combat, the interface/menu screens, the Mako is way overused and is so boring. They did do updates to this game to try to make up for some of it's flaws, but this game did not hold up as well as the other two games. However, I still think this game is very solid experience and one could argue it's the best story of the three games, and it does give you the sense of exploration and lore, and the story is very good, with great villains as well. I would give this game a grade of 8/10

ME2: This is probably the most highly regarded game of the three. Major improvements from the first game, and best part is all the different companions that you have. The first game has good core companions,, but they aren't the most likable at the start and get better in the second or third game. They did away with the mako, although the dlc with the hammerhead or whatev. that vehicle was called was just as boring. I do like most of the companions in the second game, and I think most will have their favorites. I like the story of the second game, although one of the DLCs, I think it's the arrival, I played that midway through the game and was odd, until I learned that's the DLC meant for afterstory of the main game to tie in the third game. Also the paragon and renegade options lead to some funny moments and much improved from the first game, as the first game it wasn't really clear what that was being new to the series. I would give this game a grade of 10/10

ME3: This game is where I think it's not as well done. I did read that this game was rushed and you can tell it was. First of all, I don't know why they decided to have less companions, and you're really screwed if you lose two of the sidekicks in the second game. So that means you're down to five companions, and then of those one of them are DLC, which honestly you can miss that character easily. This was something I didn't like, as you can visit some of the companions from the last game, or maybe they team up with you for one quest, but it's a downgrade from the second game. Also, I did not like EDI as a companion at all and what they did to her character. The story is very hit or miss. I didn't like the ending, and honestly the last hour of the story just drags on too long, and the combat although is fine, some of the quests are just boring and going against cerberus had lead to some glitches and just really boring fights as a whole, especially against kai leng, which has some of the worst boss fights ever.. I would give this game a grade of 7/10

Overall, I enjoyed this series, hopefully they make a forth game of the main series

The remaster is ridiculously good, I think it is important to look at this as separated games cause that is what they are and one is very different from the other. Mass effect 1: Great effort but the game and gameplay still feels old. I know it is not easy job to remaster such an old game and to try it to make it look like a last generation game but I think they could have done more. 80% of locations looks like empty spaces with random simple furniture spread around. Combat feels old as well movement is clunky and could have been improved a lot. Cutscenes are tremendous and the final mission is just great. Mass affect 2: Tremendous remaster and great CGI. Audio improvements adds a lot to the experience. Best ending in a videogame in IMO. Never played any of the DLCs and got to play all of them for the first time. Shadow broker and the Batarian asteroid mission was incredible, I felt like playing a new game again for a while. Graphic and audio improvements are astonishing and I felt that I was actually playing a last gen Game at some point.

Mass effect 3: Haven't finished yet but I am 10 hours deep and I am just enamoured by every single aspect of it. Again haven't played the DLCs before and I've just scratched the surface of some of them and I it feels like playing a totally new game. Omega invasion is particularly huge, and amazing, new lore, new squad members and awesome CGI sequences that kept me in the edge of my seat. Combat on mass effect 3 is a good as I remembered, It feel like I am playing gears of war but on drugs, which feels as good as it sounds. In conclusion, if you are some one who played only the main game a lot of years ago, I would suggest you to skip the first game and go straight to ME2 and 3. DLCs will make you think you are actually playing a new installment of the franchise, which is refreshing since it's seems like there is still a long wait until ME4 gets released.

While not perfect, especially when it comes to combat in Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is still a gem. Most of the changes were put into Mass Effect 1, and the effort made it far more replayable than the original. Mass Effect 3 holds up the best of the three, proving that regardless of the controversial ending, it is still one of the best gaming experiences BioWare has made to date. Mass Effect 2 could’ve done with some more tweaking to bring it up to 3’s combat. Legendary Edition gives hope for the future of the franchise.
