First of all, everyone who gave this game less than 6 points are neckbearded crybabies who imagine that games are made according to just their expectations/imagination. I can't stand this kind of fanboyism. You should play it as a new game, not a sequel!
The game has room for improvement here and there, but nothing that affects the game itself or gameplay. All familiar ME the elements are there.

I haven't played the trilogy and Andromeda was the first Mass Effect game I played. The first hours felt just right, but after some time it gets pretty repetitive. But it is far better than people say. Overall rating: 7.6.

I read all the hatred of the game for years, and because of it I couldn’t bring myself to play it after the love I had for the original trilogy. However in 2022 I decided to finally sit down and do a full play through. Here’s some pros and cons from the game as I saw them.

    Pros.
Level system. No longer are you set to a limited style of play. You wanna be that infiltration sniper with biotics? Go ahead, wanna summon drones while sniping to keep enemies at range, you got it, wanna teleport into a group and unleash massive damage with biotics and shotguns boom done. Profile system. Now you can switch profiles on the fly so you can do more damage depending on the situation.

Story. The story, while not as good as mass effect 1 and 3, is by far better than 2. With more romance options and quests.

Larger open world’s. Plenty of exploring and side quests to do.

Crafting. You craft almost everything, from melee weapons to armor. Graphics. Now this is a pro and a con. Some of the terrains, etc are amazing, however it’s like they spent the effort on those and skipped character models. Cons
The world’s get tedious. Go hear summon forward beacon continue… activate pillars, open vault and terraform the planet.

The number of side quests. I’m about 30 hours in and haven’t really moved the story forward since hour 12. Some of the side missions/loyalty missions literally involve going to a location for a brief cutscene then leaving. The NPCs.. most of them aren’t likeable. There’s no one like Liara, or Garrus. And maybe these are just unable to live up to the standard set by the previous crew. Races. You see the milky way races represented totaling 4 (except aquarian). But this new galaxy beyond dark space only have two sentient species? Finally the Mako is back…. This one is a pro and con too. The vehicle handles a ton better than in ME1, and travel paths are better marked, However travel in it still feels slow, and there’s no cannon on this one.

I rated the game for the maximum score in respect for the developers of the game Mass Effect. Despite all the jambs of this part, there are still advantages. Yes, this game did not meet my expectations, but I still had fun and I hope that the next game in this series will be no less a masterpiece than any of the games in the trilogy!

Despite the bugs it had at launch, it was a really good game.
I will miss the opportunity to play any DLC.
After receiving the one X enhancements I completed it for the 3rd time and its now almost flawless with all the updates and added quality.
I now want a series X FPS boost so I can go again.

It's a better game than people will give it credit for. The vertical gunplay is super fun that doesn't lead to a over reliance on cover. The story is also fun with the Kett and the squadmates are interesting enough but don't have the staying power as say Garrus, Tali, or Liara.

Mass Effect Andromeda doesn't reach the narrative heights of the original trilogy but the sheer scale of exploration and great combat and gameplay make up for it. Now, the story for Andromeda is very intriguing but I wish it delved further into the themes it tackles. Ryder is serviceable as a protagonist but is no Commander Shepard, there's a part of me that wishes we got to play as Alec Ryder (father) as he held a stoic and "cool" presence for the limited time he was present for. The gameplay and exploration however is where this game really shines. There are loads of planets to explore with their own side quests to complete, littered with stunning vistas to admire. The combat flows really well and there's a substantial level of player skill customisation and weapon customisation. All in all, Andromeda was a satisfying and breathtaking return to the Mass Effect universe. Expand

I don`t understand the low score. Mass Effect Andromeda is a great action rpg. The characters and the story are really good. And I want to know how the story goes on. It was a great experience in a new galaxy.

Technically superb. Great graphics, fluid controls, joyful gameplay, great audio und good speakers.
Story is like a rollercoaster. Some really nice quests, main quest average, with some nice twists.
The characters are between well written, interesting and boring stereotypes. The areas are open wide but sometimes a bit empty. But I liked the planets variety. The quest are sometimes a bit

The character development and items management is plain, no real roleplayling here.
The dialog options are well made but not perfect.

This game was fun, a bit too long. I played about 55 hours to see the end, not to see all of it.

I’m not a fan of the Mass Effect series. The running back and forth for scanning. Endless looting, customization of weapons and gear. Crammed space stations with numerous dialogues and sterile environments. Clunky battle controls. Non engaging story.

When I saw the new Andromeda being added to Gamepass, I pondered if it was worth check it out. Not because I like Mass Effect, but because space’s always fascinated me.

The intro with a colonization ship traveling through space seemed promising. Maybe not the best graphics. Actually far from it. And the same clunkyness in controls. Animations are far from the best there is, especially since the game now has three years on it’s back. And yet, I plowed 12 hours in one day. Why? Usually, when a game is boring, I can manage a couple of hours. Leave it. Maybe come back and play some more. And finally get bored, leave and never come back.

Very few games have that “it” factor. For me, it’s Oblivion, RDR 1-2, some GTAs, The Witcher III & the first Fall Outs that qualify. They just suck you into the world, making you crave to explore it. That is what Mass Effect did to me. Just a couple of hours in I had one Game of Throne like experience. By then the game had me, hook and sink.

The social interaction with your team and others, the politics going on behind the curtains and solving the mystery of what brought down this once blooming part of the andromeda galaxy. What are the alien invaders after? Who can I really trust in our colony? All top ingrediences.

Sure, the graphics are a bit outdated and the face animations are a tiny bit clunky sometimes. But mostly, they work good. And the voice acting is top notch. Listening to my team mates squabble amongst themselves are pure gold. But this makes the game a 9 and not a 10.

The fighting is really funny, engaging, quick and variable in terms of how you defeat your enemies. Also, the AI works good in not just making your enemies stay in one place or go log stupid. Those of you who recently played Cyberpunk know what I mean.

Maybe this game suit people who’s not played the previous MEs (or played but disliked). I don’t know. All I know is that I’m counting the hours until I can dive into space again, going about exploring it with my awesome space ship.

I joined the general hate for this game, as a fan of the original saga. Now, after several years, I regret being so hard on it. I have completed the game and even tho it lacks the decissions and charismatic character/romances of the others, it still feels like a Mass Effect. I enjoyed the game till the end, and it's a pity that they didn't have more time or will to add more content andI joined the general hate for this game, as a fan of the original saga. Sure it needed more time to be polished, everybody have the same faces and that's annoying, but once you get used to it and focus on the story and characters, gameplay and fighting, it's awesome. I didn't expect mature explicit sex scenes, and this game treats you like an adult, finally. Jaal romance is just breathtaking.
P.S. finished the game. Too many things left unexplained and the ending felt a bit rushed and confused. But I stick to my 10 because there are too many undeserved bad reviews. The Angara and Jaal are the best things in this game.

Overall, despite its shortcomings Mass Effect: Andromeda was an enjoyable experience for me. The first few hours feel like a grind, but you will be rewarded for sticking with it. The game is dragged down a bit by all of the reading that must be done and some overly long conversations, but this is rather typical for the genre. The game really shines when you're exploring an alien world and battling the local fauna, and when you get down to it that's what you really want out of a space-based RPG.
