If you don’t like the gameplay loop of missions then just do the story and be done. Play the game for yourself and find out what you think after reading this. P.S. I have put hours and hours into it so I would actually know how good it is instead of some people that play for 15 minutes and say it’s trash because they came in wanting to hate it and that’s what they did.

Also paying the same on Xbox for what seems to be an incomplete game as we will never get spiderman and no telling how many other spidey related characters is crazy imo. Then reading that the devs at crystal said if we want spiderman we can buy a ps4/5 is ignorant. It's not about being a fanboy for me wither way but even fortnite gave xbox players spiderman. I regret buying this game and it was uninstalled, the game had potential and in all honesty looks beautiful I just hate that even these devs are trying to help fuel the bs console war's when the only people it hurts is their fanbase and all gamers. Way to go square enix/crystal dynamics for pretty much destroying what could have been a great game for year's to come. Oh and the prices they charge for the extra in game content is crazy, who wants to pay 20$ for a cosmetic skin for the same boring repetitive bs. Expand

Which sucks because it's not terrible gameplay wise. When the game works, when there is content, it's a fun game. The story was fine, the missions where solid, all the characters play great, and are outright fun. But outside of the main missions, the game falls again. Because the co-op missions are repetitive do the same thing over and over, against the same enemies over and over.

And the development was so lazy to make an excuse for why you keep fighting the same boss over and over, they brought in cloning. "no you aren't fight Taskmaster for the 30th time, that's a Taskmaster clone." "Another Abomination clone." It's ridiculous and makes the game boring and unplayable.

Even the new Kate Bishop DLC is still just the same enemies, and the major new enemy is just the same Adaptoids we've been facing but it has a shield, hammer, and is bigger.

Marvels Avengers gets half of everything right.
The Campaign is short, but enjoyable. But it has its flaws. I felt like they've spent most of the development time to make A-Day look great. Other Missions were also good, but a downgrade from A-Day. I didn't like that the Avengers were re-skinned. I hoped that I would see Robert Downey Jr and Co, but it was a re-skin. There simply is not enough content for a 60$ game. The Gameplay is good but it feels weak with some Heroes like Thor.
The Multiplayer is a repetitive disaster. Poorly designed and garbage missions! It is buggy as hell and it simply is not motivating and because of the many bugs it is not really fun with friends.
In Overall, this game would be a 6 or a 7 out of 10 if it was for like 30$. But it is a 60$ game with not enough content, a short campaign, and a repetitive and buggy Multiplayer. This is the most average game you can think of. If Square Enix releases free DLC for the campaign, fixes the disastrous messy Multiplayer, I'll be back.

You play through the story of a girl that become inhuman and sets out to make things right.. good vs evil story of coruse, this is a super hero game.. but youll play across this campaign as a variety of characters which is what I love most about marvels avengers.. its cast of charcters stop this game from getting as repetitive as it would have without them… the campaign is very linear feeling like an interactive movie with dashes of collectables for you to find, but again the gameplay isn’t deep enough for me to even care about that, I was focused souley on getting hrough the campaign, and I actually enjoyed my time.. getting to play as different avenger members, all with their own unique feel and play stylethis made fighting these repetive and boring enemies not so repetitive and boring, unlocking new abilities for my avengers, finding different items to equip them with to boost their stats… these things are all great.. sadly though the gameplay agin isn’t deep enough for any of it to really matter outside of leveling up and unlocking new moves.. so it really comes down to this marvels avengers should be viwed more as a single player experience with co optional content… because if you play this strictly for the multiplaer aspect youre going to be disappointed.. that being said.. the campaign wont blow you away either.. not a lot of crazy moments or cool levels, the campaign is definitely lacking on creativifty, but it does switch up the charcters enough to not overstay its welcome, and because of this, it was enjoyable, even the story was enjoyable and that’s coming from someone that hasn’t seen any of the marvel movies… so the ip isn’t all that made me enjoy this game…

I played Marvel's avengers for about three four hours. The first level that introduces you to the combat is fantastic. After that initial level, the game falls apart. Then you have this story that if you read the title of the game should be about the avengers, however the story really centers around Ms. Marvel who I absolutely do not really care about or understand why she would be put to the forefront of the story when the game is called Marvel's Avengers. It should have been centered around the Avengers instead of this inconsequential character known as Ms. Marvel. The story is just flat out boring because Ms. Marvel actually works better as a side character than as the main character she just is not interesting enough to lead a game or movie. the part I got to was where you had to grind replaying missions in order to getr esources so you can build some special suits. It just seemed like padding that was being used in order to extend the length of an already short, boring game. This padding reminds me of Rage 2 where you get to the end game mission, but cannot play it until you get all your ally characters to level 5 by completing all these repetitive activities. sure it extended the game by a couple hours, but all it did was waste the players time when that time would be better spent playing something else. That is how I felt about Marvel's Avengers, like Anthem, Marvel's Avengers was hyped incredibly high, but failed to live up to it. I never finished the game, I found it boring and repetitive, so I turned it into gamestop and got 30 bucks for it and used that to buy another game. I got the deluxe edition, so I feel especially burned. In short, do not buy this game, or if you really want to play a superhero game wait until it is discounted so severely that you won't waste too much money on it. It was a lazy game filled with corporate greed that is not worth 60 dollars. Expand

The only way to change the look of your character is to change their skin. Additionally, a lot of the missions are really repetitive and if you’re playing alone the AI controlled characters are beyond brain dead. Arguably one of the biggest “issues” is that they didn’t use the the faces of the MCU Avengers. They used a hodgepodge of comic based Avengers. While that’s ok it really doesn’t help the game because let’s face it we all associate Tony Stark with Robert Downey and so on with the other Avengers. Overall this game wasn’t the home run we all wanted it to be. Is it a bad game? No. But don’t spend $60 on it, maybe once it it drops down to $30 it will be worth looking into. However by then there probably won’t be anyone playing so you’ll be stuck with the brain dead AI. Expand

However, from a narrative perspective alone, this game stood out to me in ways I wasn’t really expecting it to. I came to Avengers expecting smashy-smashy superhero fare, and while I did get that in spades, I was also served up some insightful storytelling as a surprise.

In terms of the single-player experience, Kamala’s journey is exceptionally well composed and crafted. It’s also thoughtful and representative of modern-day culture. To my knowledge, Kamala is perhaps the first Pakistani-American character to feature as the main protagonist of a AAA-game. As part of the post-9/11 Muslim-American generation of young people, her character brings representation to the forefront of a major title, and it is a fundamentally important point to recognise.

By positioning a character of colour and of the Muslim faith at the heart of a story about the unifying power of doing good (especially when the rest of the world views her as ‘inhuman’), Avengers takes careful consideration of some of the most topical issues facing underrepresented groups in our global society, and on such a gigantic platform. When Kamala explains how she constructed her first DIY superhero outfit to Tony Stark from a burkini, you get the sense that the character development in this game really was central to the story, rather than an afterthought to the mechanics and level design. For me, things like that are what separates a great game from a good game. Avengers takes those extra narrative steps to make the campaign experience both immersive and compelling, and regardless of any other gameplay niggles, that’s something that should be recognised and applauded.

As someone fairly new to the Marvel Universe, Avengers is a great way to be introduced to such a well-constructed and crafted heroic world. There’s just such a lot to get your teeth into that I genuinely think it’s a game that needs a bit more time to be fully appreciated. I can see this game improving greatly with each future patch and the addition of DLC means that there’ll be plenty to look forward to while you work on levelling up your hero of choice in the post-campaign content.

For some players, there’s bound to be gripes and issues around the prospective grind of doing so in multiplayer, as well as bugs and glitches on their respective platforms but for me, Avengers is an exciting, engaging and enjoyable game that combines a range of gameplay styles and thoughtful storytelling that speaks to both to its huge fanbase and beyond.

Now that Marvel's Avengers is dirt cheap, it might be worth a play for the impressive action sequences and impressive visuals. Maybe with enough people picking it up at a much more agreeable price, it might inject the tedious co-op modes. It certainly did not deserve the utter disdain it received, and was at best just a corporate, tone-deaf project that nobody wanted. It is rotten with executive sleaze for sure, and the game can feel like work a lot of the time due to the grind, but there is an ok experience in this somewhere. It is buried beneath all the obnoxious writing, grinding, and generic design.

Avengers has the legs for a good games as a service model. It can stand on its own for a while, and with new content coming as soon as this month, it should keep things fresh. Now, that doesn’t mean monotony won’t set in, it most certainly does. Especially after finishing the best part of the game – the story missions. These types of games live and breathe on their player base and so far, it’s been alright. Only time will tell, and we’ll see how long Avengers is supported. While right now, Marvel’s Avengers is a good game that has a few issues here and there, but a fun time nonetheless, in a year’s time, it could very well be a great game with more varied content. There is most certainly the potential for that here. Let’s hope it actually happens.
