There's also a great combo system and great fun playing with friends. The total amount of conte t dies feel a nit light for the price of admission overall. I rarely follow the story in online games and usually just rush to the end but this one got me interested in the story even though I'm far from a super fan. It was really interesting and I wanted to know what comes next after every mission. It took me around 16 hours to complete the game in full. I don't remember the last time I couldn't make a choice about what class/character to play as each hero feels unique and I think they really nailed it with this one. I truly feel like there's a character for everyone to enjoy. Even though this is the biggest reason I'm playing this much I still can't give it max rating since there are some amazing games out there with better combat mechanics. However, the combat is this game is absolutely fun filled. I think there are options for every type of play. You can juggle enemies forever or you can just use heavy ground attacks if you don't like juggling. U have light attacks as well if u want to attack fast. Then you have signature attacks, which are like special attacks. You can use more powerful attacks to build up stun meter faster and then you have mastery tree. Some of the masteries completely change skills while other give various effects.
For example Ironman can choose between pulse or beam and rocket passives, each of them improving it significantly. Thor's Bio-frost Ultimate will release a massive amount of energy which can either heal allies or burn / freeze enemies. Depending on your choices you can make a lot of different builds on the same hero. Multiplayer however, when it works it's great, otherwise it's really really bad. Biggest problem are bugs, which developers acknowledged and are working on fixing them. Matchmaking seems to be broken, at first it didn't work at all, then it would only matchmake with 1 person instead of 3, now its somewhat better but it still needs to be improved. People can get stuck in mission loading, fall through the map leaving other players unable to progress unless they reset the checkpoint and even then it might not work. For example I played with my friend and we had to take an elevator to the next area. For some reason elevator was missing for me and all I could see was empty space. If I went inside I fell through the map and got respawned in the middle of the forest. Restarting checkpoint didn't fix it so we had to restart the whole mission. Replay ability is hard to judge as it's up to personal preference and we don't know what new content to expect in time. Some people don't mind grinding same activity over and over again while others do so I'll break it down and let you decide. There are currently half a dozen heroes in the game and if you want to max all of them it will take some time. If you only want one of them, it should not take more than a few days to grind it out depending on how much u play. This is a very good game with a few flaws it wouldn't tae much in the way of updates to take this from good to superior if the issues that are there are addressed in patches for the Xbox One.

I start with the good things.

Gameplay The Gameplay is super fun and addictive. It have a lot of variations in the playstyles of every character (playing Hulk like a massive healthregentank or cpt. as a brutally good bruiser or Thor like a mage). So the Core here is right and gives a huge potential for further updates on the game. Story I never thought it would be so much

So the Core here is right and gives a huge potential for further updates on the game.

    Story

I never thought it would be so much length on the campaign. It was good enough to keep me playing and had some shining moments, especially the character of Bruce Banner and Kamala Khan are very good written.

    Presentation

The looks are very good and most of the graphical environments are stunning. The Characters too look very good.

    Negative!!!!

    - BUGS BUGS BUGS, i never saw so many bugs in a game since Grounded. Jokes aside its a disaster start and should have never came out like this. Its a complete failure and needs massive fixing (game freezing, enemies not spawning, lost progression on skins, ressources etc.)

    - repetitive gameplay, while the core fighting is very good, there are just to less enemies to fight and way to less different levels. Also the Game has only TWO BOSSES out of the whole marvel univerese, big fail on that too.

    - matchmaking is NOT WORKING, or their intended way of matchmaking is just bad for a multiplayer game like this (no joining on ongoing missions, no real enemytweak or scaling, quickmatch is completly broken cause u can get into high level elite matches with a level 1 character and more).

    - very frustrating mechanics, enemies can just delete all the abilities you have up in very easy ways (challenge is good, but frustrating mechanics which are in the big battles are just not avoidable arent).

    - exclusivity is just bad for the gaming community, the backlash the game got was completly right and needed. Its just not okay to prefer other systems in an multiplayer game forever (timed exclusivity would have been much appreciated in this case).

    Summary

All in all this game needs fixes asap and way more DIFFERENT content (cause there are actually a lot of missions and heros to play with). 6/10 its a missed chance, but its a service game, so they can actually improve it to a very good ratingpoint.

I actually like the fact that skins cost money because I could care less what my hero looks like i care about gameplay and controls. The game controls good not great and the gameplay is average. The controls i doubt will ever get better or change but the story with dlc can always get better and if dlc is free ill be happy. I would suggest if you are undecided on the game to wait for a price drop for 60 im not to thrilled had it cost me 30 or 40 I would have been more impressed with my purchase Expand

This game isn't a 10 but it isn't a 0 either people are over here rating it terrible when the game isn't terrible its mediocre. If you are a fan of the comics you will enjoy this game, however if you think this is MCU the game you're horribly mistaken. Kamala does suck in the main part of the story shes just bland but once you start playing as actual avenger is super fun. It is its own game not destiny are missions repetitive yes but thats what happens in any game I mean look at call of duty you literally play the same domination matches over and over. this game has a lot of potential. But at release it is way too buggy. Overall the story does grab your attention and Kamala Khan is done so well. There needs to be a motion Blur setting established NOW! I actually feel like my eyes were going bad till i played another game that didn't have this problem. I actually feel like my eyes were going bad till i played another game that didn't have this problem. Story was about 12 hours or so and once you upgrade your characters it gets fun, but my issue is they have to have DLC planned for almost every month or every other month to keep me wanting to go back. They did a better job then Destiny with the first arc of the story, but the next "seasons" with new superheroes have to come sooner rather than later, and they have to fix the bugs and once again the motion blur. I knew there was going to be microtransactions and a way to really grind for things for your characters. There has to be an adjustment to the ingame currency so you are able to get these without buying credits, because this game is not good enough or have enough for me to keep grinding over and over and over again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played the game and the Xbox One S and it did not run very well at all. My game was constantly crashing and the audio was glitching a lot. What really turned me off was a bug that made Captain America's eyes pop out of his head in his traditional attire. What saves this game is the combat system and the ability to play co-op with friends. The story is somewhat weak besides a few set pieces here and there like the introduction of Thor to the player and the return of Captain America. The quality of the overall product and poor design thought process that went into developing the game really shows itself the further you progress a long the way. A score of 6 seems just about right for this game. If it was more polished no higher than a 7.5 or an 8. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The combat was great especially with and his flying mechanic was so smooth it was like it was ripped right out of Anthem. However the story was one way to short and reall disappointing. No one went through a character arch their personality essentially stayed the same throughout the entire game nor was there anything really special about the enemy or did it explain why Modoc had such a deep hatred for the Inhumans other than than power is evil and they are genetically impure. Which is too hitleres Expand

The actual gameplay is pretty fun, with it getting better as it goes on. Gameplay is unique and satisfying for each character. The story is fine. My only problem is the graphical glitches in cutscenes and the loading times for after you die.

Which sucks because it's not terrible gameplay wise. When the game works, when there is content, it's a fun game. The story was fine, the missions where solid, all the characters play great, and are outright fun. But outside of the main missions, the game falls again. Because the co-op missions are repetitive do the same thing over and over, against the same enemies over and over.

And the development was so lazy to make an excuse for why you keep fighting the same boss over and over, they brought in cloning. "no you aren't fight Taskmaster for the 30th time, that's a Taskmaster clone." "Another Abomination clone." It's ridiculous and makes the game boring and unplayable.

Even the new Kate Bishop DLC is still just the same enemies, and the major new enemy is just the same Adaptoids we've been facing but it has a shield, hammer, and is bigger.

Now that Marvel's Avengers is dirt cheap, it might be worth a play for the impressive action sequences and impressive visuals. Maybe with enough people picking it up at a much more agreeable price, it might inject the tedious co-op modes. It certainly did not deserve the utter disdain it received, and was at best just a corporate, tone-deaf project that nobody wanted. It is rotten with executive sleaze for sure, and the game can feel like work a lot of the time due to the grind, but there is an ok experience in this somewhere. It is buried beneath all the obnoxious writing, grinding, and generic design.

Avengers has the legs for a good games as a service model. It can stand on its own for a while, and with new content coming as soon as this month, it should keep things fresh. Now, that doesn’t mean monotony won’t set in, it most certainly does. Especially after finishing the best part of the game – the story missions. These types of games live and breathe on their player base and so far, it’s been alright. Only time will tell, and we’ll see how long Avengers is supported. While right now, Marvel’s Avengers is a good game that has a few issues here and there, but a fun time nonetheless, in a year’s time, it could very well be a great game with more varied content. There is most certainly the potential for that here. Let’s hope it actually happens.
