If you played Destiny this game exactly the same with avengers cover and unique gameplay. I believe this game gonna impress us in the near future because that how those games work and because it is your players don't know what you want and screaming in social media first and then happens what happens. Story: Avengers tells a compelling story with Kamala Kahn as its focal point. The opening scene is a well-done projection of fan excitement and giddiness for the release of the game. This is not the MCU, its S.E. and C.D.'s world. The voice actors who were tasked to create their own interruption of Marvel characters in a post-MCU world did an absolutely fantastic job.

Characters are dynamic. Kamala Khan’s child-like excitement blends well with her potential to lead others. Bruce's kindness and empathy are paired well with the Hulks ability to...well...smash. Tony's humor is hit or miss (though listening to ACDC, Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin while crushing skulls is both accurate and appropriate) There is a coldness about Black Widow that I enjoy, and a few of her lines remind you that she does not have to be loyal to anyone. In isolation, the characters are great, but it's their interactions that really bring the story together. Tony and Bruce clash brilliance and brawn, humor is used to cut through thick, uncomfortable tension, and the disillusionment is palpable.

Gameplay: While playing the game (with any character) I could not help but think "S.E. could have made a [Marvel Character] single story game...” and I mean that. Each character's combat style and upgrades give more than enough for a single story game. Let’s remind ourselves of the catch: THERE ARE 6 CHARACTERS TO PLAY.

Can you button mash your way through Avengers? Yes. With that said, those that time attacks, learn to parry and alter between button combos see and feel the benefits. Tossing Caps shield while watching Iron Man Uni beam an enemy from a distance has yet to get old. I have also enjoyed the comedic moments of attacking an enemy only to see another character finish them off.

Square Enix has done a fantastic job of utilizing Skill Level and Power Level. Your skill level is just that: what skills does your character have? The higher the level, the more combos, finishers, specialties, etc. The power level is determined by gear and upgrades. The system works and characters level up fast. In the past, I have felt as though this type of systems from games like Destiny put a wall between players and the gaming experience. Such is not the case with Avengers. I have played matches with Skills level 7 players who have a Power level of 40. It’s awesome, and characters are effective.

Some have criticized S.E.and C.D. lack of cosmetic changes when equipping characters with the various gear earned through gameplay or purchased through merchants. Honestly, the decision makes sense, and it ties directly into why Avengers will work as a Live Service game more on that in a bit).

Online Play: Simple: it's new and buggy. But when it works, it's awesome. There are some crashes, the screen going black, enemies disappearing and levels not advancing. It’ll be patched, I am not worried.

Games as Live Service: My thoughts on Live Service/Grind games have always been: If you enjoy playing a game over and over again, then it's not a grind. Here are a few reasons why Avengers will work as a live service (from a guy who has historically grown board of this style of game):

Cannon: S.E. and C.D. have 80+ years of cannon to go off of, with characters (secondary included) that have become pop-icons. While the developers and storytellers have to adapt content, they have content to adapt. The same cannot be said for Bungie (Destiny) and Anthem (EA).

Cosmetics: Gear is not cosmetic because unlike a game like Destiny, the outfits our characters wear are adapted from the already referenced 80+ years of canon. S.E. and C.D. made a brilliant decision: Let the consumer work for the outfit, not slave over individual pieces to build it. And there are a slew of outfits readily available.

Learning from Others: Destiny and Anthem both got one thing wrong: limited gear/cosmetics at launch. Destiny televised amazing commercials of unique characters. But when we popped into the game, the cosmetics were bare and weapons redundant. Anthem...Anthem...I have never played a game that had me trying to dodge loot. Avengers comes out strong: gear, cosmetics, affordable resources, and high-paying faction points (do not want to spoil factions).

Overall: initially I was hesitant about Marvel’s Avengers. The PR was poor, the Spider-Man DLC is upsetting and games like Destiny and Anthem left me skeptical of games as a live service. Marvel’s Avengers is brilliant. The characters are compelling -- there is not a cut scene I wanted to skip. The combat for each character is deep enough to have created 6 individual games, all-of-which would have succeeded in combative gameplay. The live service model looks promising with loot and cosmetics ready to go on day one. Avengers feeds a need that gamers have been looking for: A well-done story that captivates the player with dynamic characters blended with a well-done multiplayer gameplay experience.

This is an awful cash grab. Full price base game with $10 battle passes for each character , exclusive outfits to random brands and Spider-Man being cut off from 2/3 of players. This wouldn’t be so bad if the game was good unfortunately it’s a bland games as a service game. Don’t buy this game it’s just a cash grab save your money and just rewatch the MCU films you will have a better time.

Плохонькая графика, скучный и пресный геймлей. Марвел Мстители, а старания никакого. Сплошной донат. Ужасно, намного ниже среднего.

The game has repeatable values and requires a lot of time for grinding to get better tools and crafting materials (especially if you want to challenge yourself on Brutal difficulties). If you are achievements/trophies hunter then expect +100 hrs to get them all or get ready to spend more money as this game has microtransactions. The game is mixed between linear to semi-open world. The learning curve of this game is within average (Ms. Marvel is the easiest, then Hulk, then Ironman). To me, this is the best recently released game to buy that fills the gap till AC Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 come out. Is this the best superhero game??? I can't tell yet I have to beat the game first. Expand

No one asked for this game. It’s lazy, uninspired, soulless and greedy. May as well give the avengers water guns at this point. People won’t understand that all the upcoming dlc will be cut content that should have been there day one and as such they think it’s a bargain. This game deserves the criticism and we as gamers must demand better. Not a half assed game on launch that gets patched in the future. Expand

This game is great. You will love the story if you are a Marvel fan. Great characters, and they are well written. Co-op is also very fun (play it with friends if you can, it will be a better experience). Gameplay feels great with every hero. I can't wait to play as Clint Burton (A.K.A Hawkeye).

Now that Marvel's Avengers is dirt cheap, it might be worth a play for the impressive action sequences and impressive visuals. Maybe with enough people picking it up at a much more agreeable price, it might inject the tedious co-op modes. It certainly did not deserve the utter disdain it received, and was at best just a corporate, tone-deaf project that nobody wanted. It is rotten with executive sleaze for sure, and the game can feel like work a lot of the time due to the grind, but there is an ok experience in this somewhere. It is buried beneath all the obnoxious writing, grinding, and generic design.

Avengers has the legs for a good games as a service model. It can stand on its own for a while, and with new content coming as soon as this month, it should keep things fresh. Now, that doesn’t mean monotony won’t set in, it most certainly does. Especially after finishing the best part of the game – the story missions. These types of games live and breathe on their player base and so far, it’s been alright. Only time will tell, and we’ll see how long Avengers is supported. While right now, Marvel’s Avengers is a good game that has a few issues here and there, but a fun time nonetheless, in a year’s time, it could very well be a great game with more varied content. There is most certainly the potential for that here. Let’s hope it actually happens.
